I've been wanting to try here for a while, recommended by a friend, but I'd always just miss their open hours when I'm downtown. WELL, I was downtown early today and got to try their matcha latte. I was torn between getting hot or iced but I went with hot with oatmilk. It was so goood. You can taste the high quality of the matcha. There was a line to the door and was moving a little slow but the turn around time of service was quick once I placed my order. I sat down on the wall steps (not sure of the correct name) while I waited. I was in awe when I saw the latte art. Small cafe but has choices of seating options to sit. There's tables with chairs, a bar seating to the back and the wall steps. I noticed someone ahead of me in the line brought her own reusable tumbler and I like that the cafe supports sustainability in that way. 3.5* Came here as I was walking around downtown. My mom wanted to try this place for its matcha latte. My family actually came here twice within four days. We tried the spectrum of hot matcha latte, iced matcha latte, hot hojicha latte, iced hojicha latte. We actually haven't experimented with asking for less ice or adjusting sweetness. It's not deadly sweet to a point that I can say for sure whether they add sweetener to the drinks. FYI they batch mix their matcha and hojicha solutions which I don't appreciate. Wish they whisked them per order. I think I like their hojicha latte more than matcha given the stronger flavor. It's also a bit sweeter. It bothers me slightly how hojicha latte is the same price as matcha latte given that hojicha is normally cheaper due to lower demand. The price itself is kind of steep at $8.75 whether for matcha or hojicha. You can get matcha latte for $6.50 at Blue Bottle instead or something (weak but matcha itself is alright). Between the two visits I also found the quality to be inconsistent. The second time tasted weaker and the latte art for the hot drinks was messier. I'm not saying latte art is a necessity for me, but if 1) you're charging that much, and 2) you attempt any latte art at all, I would hope for it to look nice. On a good day they deserve a 4*. On a bad day they deserve a 3*. I don't necessarily crave them so will put down 3*. Lines come and go. There's sufficient seating given that most people don't linger 5ever. Met up our friends here in the morning to grab coffee/matcha before starting the freedom trail and sightseeing in Boston. Cute little Kyoto inspired cafe with huge windows and places to sit inside. It was a hot summer day so didn't opt for any hot drinks to get any cute latte art but we just got iced coffees, hojicha, and matcha lattes. It was good and refreshing to start the day, it was busy and service was great. Hard to find parking in this area as it's busy but there is some street parking if you're lucky. This is a cute little cafe with large windows on the storefront. There's a small amount of tables, bar seating, and stadium seating to suit your needs. Wait time was about 15 min, which they tell you as soon as you order. The wait was well worth it. I got a hot hojicha latte and it is one of the best I have tried. It was only after I left that I realized this cafe actually originates from Kyoto. I cannot wait to come back to try more things on the menu the next time I am in Boston. We tried this unique coffee shop from Kyoto, Japan last year and couldn't wait to return! Return we did, making it to the spot 5 minutes before close on the last day of our visit! Last year, I could quickly double park right outside and run it but the logistics changed... This time I parked across the street in a tow away zone. All good! The staff were very gracious in making two lattes for my wonderful wife. I ordered one smoked maple like last year plus a new salted caramel pumpkin! She liked them both! Alicia helped secure the drinks to ensure I could carry them both across the store without spilling a drop! Very cute coffee shop with very nice staff! Interior is very cozy and there is a good amount of space as well! The matcha is definitelyyyyy worth getting and I got the cheddar croissant randomly, but it was SO good (obviously get it warmed!). The prices are a bit wild, in both drinks the oat milk was an extra $1 I didn't get asked if I wanted it either or to sub it out, and with a cheap tip I left spending over $20 for both 16oz drinks. What a lovely cafe downtown with great coffee, pastries, and breakfast options. We tried the OC breakfast and The Classic sandwiches this time and both were delicious. The ingredients are fresh, the breads are a great, fluffy texture, and the highlight here is their delicious sauces. We also got the $5 vegan muffin which felt pricey, but was very dense and delicious. They give you your pastries when you order and we watched the drinks counter churning out orders pretty quickly, too. The wait for food was pretty long this time though (almost 30 minutes), and they forgot the coffee that came with the OC breakfast until asked. Ogawa is one of my most frequented coffee shops because I always order their hojicha latte every time I'm in downtown Boston! Hojicha is a roasted green tea with a similar creamy consistency as matcha, and is imported from Japan to Ogawa in Boston! Their matcha and hojicha lattes are truly, some of the best I've had in the city During the spring, they have their limited rose matcha latte which has a strong rose flavor for the floral tea lovers (little too strong for my tastebuds~) and during the Fall, they have their salted caramel pumpkin latte (which has a more mild pumpkin flavor in my opinion). They have a few different sandwiches and desserts on their menu, but I think their egg sandos made with their in-house shokupan are my favorite!! read more

I usually stick with lattes because most flavored lattes are too sweet and lose the taste and aroma of the espresso. The smoked maple is perfectly not sweet. If you have the room, then try the pastries. Almond croissant was flaky and tasty, and again, not too sweet. If you have time, have your coffee there in a mug and sit on the stair seating in the back or along the short bar across from it. read more

I didn't feel like I'd come here for coffee over any other place unless the prices were more comparable. The space was really crowded inside and the only available seating left was in direct sunlight which made it uncomfortable to stay in. Also the wait for our drinks was fairly long too, they were busy, but not so busy to wait 15 minutes for 2 drinks. It is in busy downtown Boston, so parking is very limited and there is lots of foot traffic, so I understand it being busy and filled to capacity, but it still does lower the experience a bit. For a coffee shop, this place gets very busy. We arrived at 3:30pm and some pastries were sold out so it's best you come early. The decor is basic here, some bench seatings, several tables and bar seats. Matcha latte was delightful. They only have almond and oat milk for non-dairy option. Thought about the matcha latte I had here for the entirety of my trip to Boston - it's so good! The matcha is extremely creamy, very warming for a chilly day! My fiance had a pour over, and really enjoyed the flavor and aroma of the beans - he ordered some Japanese whole beans as a souvenir.
