This is a cute little cafe with large windows on the storefront. There's a small amount of tables, bar seating, and stadium seating to suit your needs. Wait time was about 15 min, which they tell you as soon as you order. The wait was well worth it. I got a hot hojicha latte and it is one of the best I have tried. It was only after I left that I realized this cafe actually originates from Kyoto. I cannot wait to come back to try more things on the menu the next time I am in Boston. Ogawa is one of my most frequented coffee shops because I always order their hojicha latte every time I'm in downtown Boston! Hojicha is a roasted green tea with a similar creamy consistency as matcha, and is imported from Japan to Ogawa in Boston! Their matcha and hojicha lattes are truly, some of the best I've had in the city During the spring, they have their limited rose matcha latte which has a strong rose flavor for the floral tea lovers (little too strong for my tastebuds~) and during the Fall, they have their salted caramel pumpkin latte (which has a more mild pumpkin flavor in my opinion). They have a few different sandwiches and desserts on their menu, but I think their egg sandos made with their in-house shokupan are my favorite!! read more

Very cute coffee shop with very nice staff! Interior is very cozy and there is a good amount of space as well! The matcha is definitelyyyyy worth getting and I got the cheddar croissant randomly, but it was SO good (obviously get it warmed!). We tried this unique coffee shop from Kyoto, Japan last year and couldn't wait to return! Return we did, making it to the spot 5 minutes before close on the last day of our visit! Last year, I could quickly double park right outside and run it but the logistics changed... This time I parked across the street in a tow away zone. All good! The staff were very gracious in making two lattes for my wonderful wife. I ordered one smoked maple like last year plus a new salted caramel pumpkin! She liked them both! Alicia helped secure the drinks to ensure I could carry them both across the store without spilling a drop! Waited in line for about 15 minutes at Ogawa Coffee, and honestly it was completely worth it. This was the best coffee I've had in a while. I got an iced americano and a hojicha latte, and both were excellent. The americano was smooth, bold, and not bitter at all, but the real surprise was the hojicha latte! The hojicha flavor actually came through, which never happens at most coffee shops. It was toasty, earthy, and so comforting without being overly sweet. If you don't mind a short wait and want really high-quality drinks, this spot is absolutely worth a stop. It's worth the 5 stars. read more

Menu is not complicated but the girl at the register seem rushed for me to order, even though I was not in line yet. I wish I have tried their Hojicha. My cousin got it for me from them to try at home but I have yet to master to make it at home. Next time when I'm in the area, I would give other drinks a try. Stadium benches on the side to wait for your drinks is a great use of the space while being able to sit many people. Bathroom was semi-clean but it's like the center of Boston. Cannot expect much. I really like Ogawa, they stand true behind their mission of serving high quality Matcha - it's on the short list of best I've had. They also have a nice coffee/espresso menu and a wide range of food options (I haven't tried yet!). My main complaint is the pricing as everything is minimum $7 on drinks and upgrading beyond a basic 12oz plain bev gets closer to $8.50, before tax or tip. I understand the premium charge for matcha but the pricing across the board is a tough swallow. The ambiance is vibrant and cool with a unique stair-seating situation. Seating is tight and there's not much standing room so this isn't my choice for a sit-and-stay experience, but definitely on my list for a grab and go! Just enough to be noticeable. This drink was pretty solid but again the prices are crazy. Overall: Decent drinks with not so decent prices. The prices are a bit wild, in both drinks the oat milk was an extra $1 I didn't get asked if I wanted it either or to sub it out, and with a cheap tip I left spending over $20 for both 16oz drinks. For a coffee shop, this place gets very busy. We arrived at 3:30pm and some pastries were sold out so it's best you come early. The decor is basic here, some bench seatings, several tables and bar seats. Matcha latte was delightful. They only have almond and oat milk for non-dairy option. What a lovely cafe downtown with great coffee, pastries, and breakfast options. We tried the OC breakfast and The Classic sandwiches this time and both were delicious. The ingredients are fresh, the breads are a great, fluffy texture, and the highlight here is their delicious sauces. We also got the $5 vegan muffin which felt pricey, but was very dense and delicious. They give you your pastries when you order and we watched the drinks counter churning out orders pretty quickly, too. The wait for food was pretty long this time though (almost 30 minutes), and they forgot the coffee that came with the OC breakfast until asked. As you can see the matcha is all at the bottom and the milk is on top. I had to spend time mixing and shaking it to get a decent consistency. The coffee was honestly expensive for what it was, I thought it was pretty good, but the price knocks down the rating. I didn't feel like I'd come here for coffee over any other place unless the prices were more comparable. The space was really crowded inside and the only available seating left was in direct sunlight which made it uncomfortable to stay in. Also the wait for our drinks was fairly long too, they were busy, but not so busy to wait 15 minutes for 2 drinks. It is in busy downtown Boston, so parking is very limited and there is lots of foot traffic, so I understand it being busy and filled to capacity, but it still does lower the experience a bit. My bf has never had hojicha latte and he described it as a "melted hojicha ice cream". As the tea was roasted, it didn't carry the grassy flavor like matcha. Stopped by for a quick little afternoon pick me up and enjoyed my hojicha latte! It had really nice roasted notes. Not only did the foam had strong hojicha flavors, but also the latte itself. The drip coffee was also solid. The space itself is pretty cute! Besides the regular tables there was also an area with 3 giant staircases that you can freely sit on with blocks to serve as side tables. Staff were polite and drinks came out at a reasonable time.
