Just found a hidden gem! Farmhouse Roasters is the best coffee in the Northeast! Friendliest staff and great food! A must stop!

I was looking for a breakfast place when came for the day in Salem NH. Most were closing early, but this one was open a bit longer and looked fine. So glad we came. I wanted breakfast, they had good choices, but I chose a chicken salad sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and bacon. It came with two pickles and some chips. My daughter ordered a breakfast meal and liked it. They have hot, cold coffees. It's in a big house with a warm home feel. People working are kind and they bring your food to you. The good..... they had GF offerings. The bad....the GF bread was hard and old tasting. I suspect they were in the freezer but it wasn't good. I ate the sandwich contents (which was good). I told one of the staff.... She just looked at me (this was bad). I hate paying extra for GF bread... it is almost never good! read more

What a cute little coffee shop! It was clean and inviting and I felt welcome. The service was great and the clerk was patient with us while we decided on what to order. They had a decent seating area inside and out that was well lit and good for singles or groups. My blueberry muffin was SO yummy. I loved the sugar crystals on top and it was cooked to perfection with big juicy blueberries. My coffee was delicious as well. I ordered a latte with marshmallow flavor and caramel sauce. Sooo good, I drank it fast. The foam on top was perfect and the coffee roast tasted bold and smooth. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area. read more

I do love a place that sells beans so I was excited to go here, and it was super busy which is always a great sign. I was slightly disappointed by the drip coffee taste, it was just very average coffee. Honestly though the food made up for it. Eggs were made to order and my husband said it was the closest to a NYC bagel he's had since we moved back. I have mixed feelings about this place, but mostly positive for a local place. I know every roaster from here to Boston. I visit the Boston ones frequently and some Cambridge ones such as Broadsheet and Barismo. For the most part they do put the roast date on the bags but there are occasions where you won't find one because "the sticker fell off". I think my real issue with the place is the surly counter staff. Some are great and I'd hire them if I open my own place some are just plain surly. Also, I frequently do buy my beans there and they never override the tip, so they basically ask for a tip to ring up your bag of beans. Other roasters like Jaho and George Howell override that as they know you shouldn't feel guilted. The coffee is decent. Maybe not Thinking Cup or George Howell or Gracenotes or Jaho level but definitely satisfying. It's definitely clean and well maintained inside which you can't say about the other roaster in Salem. I will supplement my beans from Trade Coffee and the various Boston roasters with Farmhouse because I could literally walk to them. I would say in Salem they are the best roaster. read more

I found this place to be very inviting. It was my first time there and just be aware parking may be an issue if you go on a weekend day. I came for coffee beans and they have a good selection and priced well. I also bought a muffin and did not catch the price until it run up. It is pricey compared to others in the area but it is very good. Definitely a place to visit. read more

This review is specifically for their signature coffee. We've been getting Farmhouse Blend coffee since before this restaurant existed when they were selling out of their Peach Tree Ice Cream location and we absolutely love it. While I grew up in Salem, NH - I loved to Los Angeles almost 20 years ago and every year at Christmas time look forward to my parents sending us Farmhouse Roasters Coffee at Christmas time. I wouldn't say we're exactly coffee snobs, but let's just say we like what we like, and enjoy nice dark blends. My wife and I have made it a bit of tradition to buy each other different types of artisan coffee around the holidays from many local shops, brewers, etc... and honestly, I think Farmhouse Roasters Farmhouse Blend beats anything out there. I feel like we're kind of "chasing the high" as we search for different coffees to try, and always come back to Farmhouse Roasters which is super consistent every time. The restaurant is great too, but honestly, we haven't been since pre pandemic so I can't give a detailed review... but it's worth it to simply load up on coffee if you're local or buy online... which we need to do more often. read more

Been here a few times for drinks to-go, but just bought coffee beans from here for the first time today, and I was quite excited! They have a pretty good variety of coffee beans here for purchase, and they will grind them on site when you buy them if you want. And, the drinks to-go are always good, too, with many flavored syrup options to add if that's what you like. They have some small food options, too, which is nice. Be prepared for a little wait when you come, though. There is off street parking available, which is good considering the shop is not really in a part of town where you would walk there from a "day on the town," and they have a couple small tables on their outdoor porch available if you wanted to consume your purchase onsite. Currently, there is no seating available indoors, and you are required to wear a mask to enter, too, which is good. read more

PAINFULLY SLOW!! Stopped in for a quick breakfast which turned out was not so quick. They are so relaxed here! Had an iced tea, which was weak and they had no lemon :-( Breakfast sandwich was good- I liked that they offer lean turkey as a choice instead of ham, bacon, etc. Sandwich was served with a half of a banana. This review is based on my experience of only purchasing the coffee beans.I had just bought this fancy espresso machine with built in grinder for my husband and I literally had to clue about anything remotely related espresso beans. The people who work there are so nice and helpful. They gave detailed information about the coffee beans, the countries where they sourced them and how to store/use them. Very pleasant experience. First time here and already love this local hideaway. The staff is friendly and welcoming to people who dont know what they want, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and the food is tasty and filling. Beyond that the service for food is quick and despite being such you can tell care goes into making it and it is tasty and homemade. They also have great chai and locally made sodas, both a welcome addition.
