Was just strolling around when I came across this place. Seeing the Friends Show décor and the show-themed menu, of course I had to give it a try. The interior reflects the show as well, with the familiar logo, the big sofa area, and themed décor and merchandise throughout. I opted for Joey's meatball sub with chips and a mimosa. The meatball sub was great. The meatballs were cut into smaller pieces, which made it much easier to eat. The toasted bread soaked up the sauce really well, and the melted cheese truly sealed in the flavor. While sightseeing around Back Bay, we walked past Central Perk Cafe and we knew we had to stop in being as we are all Friends fans. I was excited to see that not only did they serve food and coffee, but also alcohol! My friend and I ordered Espresso Martinis and my husband ordered a beer - they even put fun designs on the tops of each drink. One design was the turkey on Monica's head from the Thanksgiving episode which made us all laugh. I loved seeing all of the little Easter eggs throughout the cafe - they even had a big photo of the infamous water fountain on one side. Central Perk Cafe is just a fun place to hang out at - whether you are a fan or just looking for a place to study. They offer plenty of seating in the form of tables and couches inside, they also offer seating outside too. Service was friendly and they also gave great recommendations! What an amazing place to be... arguably one of the best coffee shops on the best street in the best city. Yes, the friends theme is super cute, even if you aren't a "real fan" it's nice. You definitely get the vibe that the owners care just from decor alone. But let's talk coffee and food. Definitely worth it! Fun show themes names. I grabbed the chicken salad sandwich - just look at that pic... phenomenal! I also had a blended blueberry pancake coffee. Perfection! Ok. But the best for last. The people. Shaq (not THE Shaq!) waited on us and when I tell you it was the best service I've received at a coffee shop IN MY LIFE, I'm not even exaggerating an ounce. I feel like that's even an understatement somehow. He was friendly and understanding and helpful. (Not like the guy I order lunch from during work hours at a place who makes me feel stupid bc I don't know what I want!) It was so appreciated! Came through recently with a few friends. The famous friend's couch -- which used to be outside last year -- didn't greet us at the door this time. It's an open space, all themed around the iconic show. Perfect for meeting up with a group or working. There's a fun little orange side room that's Instagram-worthy. When we showed up, two people were jamming out-- one on guitar, the other singing. It was nice to have some unofficial entertainment, like if Phoebe went to Berklee. I ordered an espresso martini and gave them the name "Monica." They didn't believe it was real -- thought I was just leaning into the theme. (Fair.) The espresso martini was only $12!! So cheap compared to what most bars charge. We also grabbed the mama cheesecake. One of my friends couldn't decide what she wanted, so two baristas ended up having a friendly competition -- each making her a unique, off-menu drink. Loved that energy. As a Friends lover, I thought the decor was top notch and I liked that it wasn't trying to replicate the tv set but had decor/items that were closely inspired by the show. I ordered a sandwich and a cold apple cider with cold foam. The apple cider was absolutely DELICIOUS. However my friend waited a very long time for her veggies & hummus.. and then when we got to the park to eat, i realized they gave me a random sandwich instead of the Ham and cheese i had ordered. Stopped in while walking through Newbury St. to check out for nostalgia. A little gimmicky but honestly a very pleasant experience. Outside has the signature green patio umbrellas with the Central Perk logo. Inside has Friends themed quotes, some merch and a few photo opps. No signature green couch but they did have a mural/picture of the fountain you can take a picture with. We ordered the blueberry pancake latte, apple caramel latte and the apple bread. The latte and the apple bread were both FANTASTIC. I thought it'd be an ok experience given the whole Friends theme but it really was very good. The ONLY knock I have for this coffee shop is that they only have 2 unisex bathrooms, so waiting for the bathroom might be a pain. Definitely would recommend stopping in. read more

Calling all Friends fans! I was excited that this cafe opened up on Newbury Street. I am a fan of the TV show so I was excited to see all the references to the show. To my surprise, the drinks and food were actually good too. I got the Chandler's chocolate cold foam latte, which was so tasty and one of the better lattes I've tried. I also got the Central perk bagel with cream cheese and Monica's Jam. Bagel was average but the jam was delicious. We got to sit at the famous orange couch which was comfortable but hard to eat at. Luckily they do have plenty of seating but this place was packed and everyone sought after the couch...even just to snag a photo. They do sell merch as well but this time around I didn't purchase any. It's a nice vibe inside too, you feel like you're in the show almost, a place to gather with friends! My coworkers and I were here for a meeting. Never coming back. One of us swore under our breath about the prices (they're insane) and we were immediately harassed by management. The owner cussed all of us out. Mind you we were sitting there quietly, not saying a word. My coworker said "have a nice day" and was promptly kicked out. I laughed at how ridiculous the owner's behavior was, and he kicked me out too. We have been coming here for months for meetings. We always purchase something. We only come in when the cafe is dead. Their coffee is bland and watery. The food is dry and tasteless. The management targeted us because we are women, queer and disabled. You can buy Phoebe's grandma's cookies, Rachael's salad, Gunther espresso, Ross's sandwich with the moist maker.... everything.... and the orange is prominent all over the store- couch Ofcourse, then the cups and plates.... its all there, so well done that I realized I missed Chandler :(. The girl who helped us out was as excited as me to meet someone who knew Friends series. It was an accidental find and we had already had dinner or would have got more than Phoebe's cookie and a chocolate croissant- both were soo good and steeped in nostalgia, which nade them even softer and tastier. Ambiance is great. Prices are reasonable. Cafe has free wife and a huge student crowd was there busy on their laptops sipping coffee and crunching away some numbers or details.... soo not how the 'Friends' intended..... Lol.. I wanted to visit Central Perk for the novelty of it. I grew up a Friends fan, watching with my family every Thursday at 8PM until the very end. Sitting on the orange couches was so nostalgic and sentimental for me. I ended up being very pleasantly surprised by the menu also! I had an oat milk matcha latte with strawberry puree and it was truly a 10/10. I loved all the beverage customizations they offered. In general, I thought the cafe had great, energetic vibes. It's a must see for any die-hard Friends fan. Some might wonder if a place like this though is simply a tourist trap, and I would say yes and no. The prices are fair compared to any other cafe you'll find in the city and the food is decent! However, from my experience, the matcha left something to be desired. It did not seem like ceremonial grade and it had an odd, "manufactured" flavor to it. Though it was admittedly smooth and had a strong matcha flavor, I would not recommend it due to its off-putting aftertaste. Honestly, I feel customers might be better off getting their food or pastries than their drinks, however, I would give it a try yourself as they did seem to have some fun seasonal flavors! On the other hand, the sandwich was filling and satisfying for a fair price. The croissant was soft and buttery, the bacon was cooked well and the addition of the jam adds a nice surprising sweetness. I recommend getting the B.E.C. on any of their bun options; it's a great way to start the morning! As for the service, the workers were quick, friendly, and helpful making the overall experience run smoothly. Though somewhat crowded, the lines were not too long and I was able to find seating quickly. Additionally, the decor was true to the show and created a pleasant atmosphere for socializing. Overall, for the vibes and some pretty good food, this is the place to go! I've been here a few times and it does get quite crowded in the later afternoons even though there are a lot of seats. I recommend coming in earlier to snag a seat. The ambiance is really nice though, it's a great place to chat with a small group of friends. A lot of cute photo opps to match the Friends' Set. The menu items also have cute names reminiscent of the show. I've tried some of the coffee specials like the red velvet one, but I thought it was pretty ordinary and pretty pricey. I do think the food is really great! I tried one of the Thanksgiving sandwiches and it was AMAZING! I was surprised just cause the coffee was okay, so I wasn't expecting the food to be good. Ironically the nitro coffee was the low point of the experience, but it was nice to sit and enjoy the decor and the nestlay tulhausa cookie and moist maker. All of the decorations are speckled with references, from the chick and the duck on the hallway door to the purple doors leading to the bathroom. Everything is very well thought out by someone who must've been a big fan. They sell a super cute assortment of Central Perk branded paraphernalia that I'll most definitely have to pick up. I did not have anything to eat here but I did have a cappuccino which was ok but think it gave me a little stomach ache. But besides that this place has a cozy vibe to it. As an avid FRIENDS fan we had to stop by Central Perk on our recent trip to Boston. We snagged a coffee and some sandwich's to start the day off. I opted just for the breakfast sandwich, a bacon egg and cheese on brioche. Sandwich was decent, a little too much bread to toppings ratio to me so it was a little underwhelming and dry. My girlfriend got the Moist Maker, a classic from the show, IYKYK. I preferred it over the breakfast sandwich, but overall just ok. The prices are decent for the area but not worth it for me .... based on the quality and execution of the products. The items on the menu do have some really creative names, which I appreciated it. Central Perk Cafe is a F.R.I.E.N.D.S themed coffee shop that's the perfect place for a TV superfan to get a small bite and coffee. This cafe is located on Newbury Street and is easily accessible from the Copley Street Green Line T station. The space itself is pretty big but is usually crowded so make sure to prepare yourself for a wait. There's plenty of insta opportunities but it kinda feels awkward to take pictures with all the people inside. There's also a little bit of outdoor seating for when the weather gets nicer. The menu is super creative and fun - however, it's pretty limited. The prices aren't bad for the area, but I didn't order a drink since I wasn't craving a coffee in the moment. I ordered phoebe's grandma's cookie, which was a decent chocolate chip cookie. Overall, the vibe was cute since I love the show, but if you're looking for a place to actually sit down to eat/drink coffee, there's a lot of other places on Newbury St. to fulfill that. read more
