Looks pretty and food looks promising, but I was disappointed with my experience. I have dietary restrictions, so I won't be the best person to write a robust review as much of what they offer--while it looks sooo enticing--I won't be able to tolerate. (Though I really do want to try some stuff!) Here's what's driving my review... Pros: * great location * order kiosk (which I didn't use, because...) * though a line can build up quickly (place is small), it moves quickly Cons: * everything was a "no" ... does this come in dairy free? -no; can you add this flavor to drip coffee? -no etc. * person taking my order didn't know all the ingredients in their items, which might've been really bad for me. While I come off to be a real pain at times, THIS is the reason why. * coffee wasn't anything to write home about... so what even is the point? It comes down to aesthetics (which they have), cool location (check), and trendy food (much of which I can't have or have to create an occasion for). For me, more cons than pros don't merit their cost for a mediocre cup of coffee and frustrating experience when you're hungry and in need of refueling. read more

The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was good. I also ordered two eggs on the side, those were good as well. The orange juice was fresh and delicious, the Matcha latte was also delicious and made to order. I went on a Sunday, the customer service was great. The place is small but cute. Cute and convenient coffee shop! Ran here with my boyfriend right before our Ferry ride to grab some delicious iced coffees! The place is very tiny but cute. They have a small counter where you order and a pastries display to see what they have available. They also offer some sandwiches for lunch. We each got our ice coffees along with a breakfast croissant and an almond croissant. The service was quick! thankfully because it was a bit crowded on a Sunday morning. This cute little coffee shop is conveniently located near the harbor which we discovered while waiting for a Duck Tour. I got a croissant breakfast sandwich and an almond croissant. Both were tasty. My friends and I took our items outside to eat on the provided cafe tables. This was a quick, good experience with no complaints. We'd stop here again if we were in the area. read more

We were in need of coffee quick while we were waiting for out ferry to Salem. We spotted a small sign on the sidewalk and popped in. Sooo glad we did. The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful. We ordered: *An iced latte *An iced green tea *A chocolate croissant *Chocolate zucchini bread *Ham and cheese croissant Everything was so good . . . Better than I've had at some of my usual spots back home It's hard to notice this place, and you could easily walk by. Great coffee. The latte was super smooth and perfectly made. The sizes are more like Europe so a small is 8oz. They offer sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and tea. This is a cute little place tucked away near the New England Aquarium. There is maybe room for 6-8 people to stand. They prefer you use the touch screen terminal to order and then the person behind the counter will make it. With only one person working it's difficult for them to take multiple orders and make the drinks and food. Food and drink were satisfactory, but nothing to run home and talk about. It takes care of the need to have a hot beverage, and its location to the aquarium is what makes it convenient. read more

Probably the worst coffee shop in terms of food and drink quality I've been to in the Boston area which is saying something. I stopped by here for coffee on my way out of the aquarium. I ordered a medium honey cinnamon oat milk latte ($7). I was given what was probably an 8 ounce cup. I asked what size it was (it was a small; it seems like their sizes here are about 4 ounces below average, at least for the hot drinks). The barista apologized and offered me a refund or to remake the drink. I asked for another drink but in hindsight the refund would have been better. Neither latte was very good. Milk with maybe a hint of espresso, no honey cinnamon flavor. Unfortunately it gets worse. I also made the mistake of buying a slice of lemon cake. I am not exaggerating when I say it was so dry and hard it was basically inedible. It was like biting into a brick that was soaked in bathroom cleaner. The barista (who was very nice and the only reason I don't give this place 1 star) gave me an extra piece presumably to make up for having to make another drink, but I couldn't eat either piece. Very small interior (I swear the aquarium restrooms are larger) with more seating outside than inside. Definitely more of a grab and go kind of place. I'm sure there are better coffee ships nearby. read more

Perfect post-aquarium stop for a coffee. The latte was silky smooth with the perfect foam. Their pastry selection was limited to croissants but that was one tasty chocolate croissant! Convenient location with good breakfast food. The breakfast sandwich and the pastries are fantastic! Coffee isn't the best and orders are sometimes incorrect (wrong milk or size). I really think they need someone else working there as the barista has to manage everything on her own which is crazy given how busy they often are. So even though there is no indoor seating and very little outdoor seating, there are plenty of places to carry the food off to. The coffee itself is good, though not as sweet as I would want. Where Koko Cafe shines is its food. Although there aren't a ton of options, they make incredible avocado and salmon toast. Whenever I order it, strangers ask me where I got it. Firstly I have to give props to the super friendly barista that was very accommodating, attentive, and would ask tons of questions to make sure my order was perfect. There was a rush and I was waiting quite a while and he offered me a free pastry. Rare to see that kind of service in Boston. The toast was huge, layered with salmon, avocado, tomatoes, and leafy vegetables. It was beautifully put together, and it tasted great - would recommend it! The coffee was good, but not exceptional. It was lighter than I would have wanted.
