Cute and convenient coffee shop! Ran here with my boyfriend right before our Ferry ride to grab some delicious iced coffees! The place is very tiny but cute. They have a small counter where you order and a pastries display to see what they have available. They also offer some sandwiches for lunch. We were in need of coffee quick while we were waiting for out ferry to Salem. We spotted a small sign on the sidewalk and popped in. Sooo glad we did. The girl at the counter was super friendly and helpful. This is a cute little place tucked away near the New England Aquarium. There is maybe room for 6-8 people to stand. They prefer you use the touch screen terminal to order and then the person behind the counter will make it. With only one person working it's difficult for them to take multiple orders and make the drinks and food. Food and drink were satisfactory, but nothing to run home and talk about. Probably the worst coffee shop in terms of food and drink quality I've been to in the Boston area which is saying something. I stopped by here for coffee on my way out of the aquarium. I ordered a medium honey cinnamon oat milk latte ($7). I was given what was probably an 8 ounce cup. I asked what size it was (it was a small; it seems like their sizes here are about 4 ounces below average, at least for the hot drinks). The barista apologized and offered me a refund or to remake the drink. I asked for another drink but in hindsight the refund would have been better. Neither latte was very good. Milk with maybe a hint of espresso, no honey cinnamon flavor. Unfortunately it gets worse. I also made the mistake of buying a slice of lemon cake. I am not exaggerating when I say it was so dry and hard it was basically inedible. It was like biting into a brick that was soaked in bathroom cleaner. The barista (who was very nice and the only reason I don't give this place 1 star) gave me an extra piece presumably to make up for having to make another drink, but I couldn't eat either piece. Very small interior (I swear the aquarium restrooms are larger) with more seating outside than inside. Definitely more of a grab and go kind of place. I'm sure there are better coffee ships nearby. read more

It faces a nice little park and is also located along Boston's Greenway. So even though there is no indoor seating and very little outdoor seating, there are plenty of places to carry the food off to. The coffee itself is good, though not as sweet as I would want. Where Koko Cafe shines is its food. Although there aren't a ton of options, they make incredible avocado and salmon toast. Whenever I order it, strangers ask me where I got it. Firstly I have to give props to the super friendly barista that was very accommodating, attentive, and would ask tons of questions to make sure my order was perfect. There was a rush and I was waiting quite a while and he offered me a free pastry. Rare to see that kind of service in Boston. The inside counter is maybe 10ft from the door so you can end up waiting outside if there's a line. The breakfast sandwich with sausage was dry and the cheese barely melted.
