Saw some good reviews about this place so decided to drop by in the morning. Was very happy with the croissant that I got, very buttery and flakey, just what I like in the croissant. The vanilla latte I got was on the sweeter side, so be wary of that if you don't like your coffee sweet. Make sure you swirl and mix the drink up well otherwise all sweet syrup kind of just sits towards the bottom. read more

I've heard amazing things about Greystone, so I was very excited to jump at an opportunity to stop by one morning! The interior is pretty large, especially for South End standards, so it seems like a nice spot to sit and relax. The staff are also super friendly and nice, so it really feels like a local neighborhood staple. I ordered an almond croissant and a mocha. The almond croissant was delicious and definitely something I'd order again. The mocha unfortunately was not my favorite at all... it honestly didn't taste like much to me besides just milk. Yes, this is a cute cafe but the quality of drinks aren't there yet. The flat white tasted like burnt coffee beans and the matcha latte was not strong at all- very milky based and the color was grey light grey green which means poor quality matcha. It tasted sweet and the barista didn't ask me if I wanted it sweetened or anything. Maybe the food here is better from other reviews but there's also many other options around the area. read more

Visiting friends in the South End this weekend who recommended Greystone Cafe for a hearty and healthy lunch! We tried the turkey sandwich, BLT, and spring harvest bowl. We absolutely loved everything!! We loved the lemon and sundried tomato combination of the spring harvest bowl. We also really loved the mustard on the turkey sandwich!! Also not pictured were the date balls - I tried both the lemon pistachio and coconut cashew! They were the perfect sweet treat to top off a delicious lunch. I LOVE this spot! It has to be one of my favorite cafe's in all of Boston! Although it definitely gets busy at times, when you're lucky enough to snag a table, this is the perfect place to enjoy a full lunch or a light snack with friends. The atmosphere is bustling with a refreshingly joyful vibe and all the food the menu has to offer is amazing! I have no notes on this spot. You must try it!! I definitely recommend their matcha latte (it's the perfect balance of creamy, earthy, and sweet) as well as any baked good. Their banana bread is delicious: so moist, flavorful, and fluffy! One of my favorite cafes in Boston. In a charming spot, and I love the walk up window. The seasonal pastries make it a fun spot to be a usual customer at. I get a plain latte and it's good but I can't speak to their other house made syrup flavors but I would imagine they are great as well. Go and order inside instead of at the window and I've found that has been faster. I found the pastries to be very reasonably priced and delicious! There is only one bathroom in here so I had to wait in a line a bit but the bathroom itself was very clean. The chai here is very good. read more

I tried Greystone while staying at the Marriott for a conference because I much prefer finding local coffee shops than drinking overpriced hotel coffee. Greystone is only a 10 minute walk through a beautiful neighborhood, so not bad to get to in the morning. I ended up only trying a breakfast sandwich, which was tasty but seemed to have too much sauce smothering the egg flavors. The bacon was only a few crumbles, not an actual piece. I was a little disappointed. I also wanted to try the coffee, but after asking what kind they had and getting a quizzical look from the person as the register, I decided against it. They noted it was not too strong, despite showing me a bag that clearly indicated "wild". ?? This place clearly has a following of patrons willing to stand out in the heat to wait for their online orders, so perhaps my first visit was a hiccup. read more

This is located around many houses so I thought it would be a pretty good neighborhood coffee. However, when I had question about the coffee the employees didn't really seem to know and had to ask others, I like to observe from a far when my coffee is being made and seemed like the barista didn't really know either because they asked others for the steps to make my coffee(perhaps they were in trying). Coffee itself was mid, the black tulip flavor was nice/interesting. I got a ham and cheese croissant which was good in size and tasted good but found it expensive compared to a coffee shop I had tried the day before. For my coffee and croissant I paid almost $12. As for the place, it's small inside, some variety in seating, nice and clean but they have a no laptop policy. I have never seen that policy at a coffee place, which makes me believe locals would probably not get coffee from here. They don't show a lot of the prices so had to hope it wasn't too bad. read more

Been here twice now and it's been a nice experience both times. Cortado was a little milky the first time but still good. Definitely better my second visit, probably just variability between baristas. Drip coffee is decent but pricey for it not being anything special. Tried the chocolate croissant the first time, which is currently my favorite croissant in Boston. Flaky on the outside, light and airy on the inside, nicely butter dough, good amount of semisweet chocolate (not too little and not milk chocolate). The earl grey ginger scone was also excellent. Nice crust on the outside, moist but not too dense on the inside. The earl grey comes through nicely and it also has some pieces of candied ginger, which I really liked. Haven't had anything like it and would definitely get it again. Service has been friendly and prompt. The inside is nice and I appreciate that most of the cafe is laptop-free, though seating is fairly limited so you have to get lucky if it's busy, or you may just need to stand at the middle table. Very cute spot that is pretty accessible as we were in the Back Bay area. They have a handful of pastries and sandwiches that are good for both breakfast and lunch, but we just hopped in for some coffee/tea. Cortado was delicious and I also got a matcha. Stopped in here after seeing this cafe on social media and wanted to give it a try. I came around 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and it was full but not too crowded. I ordered ahead online and everything was ready when I got there which was super nice! A coffee and sandwhich was 18$ which I think is a bit steep but everything tasted high quality. The sandwich was really good. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Coffee was a bit bitter but I still drank it all and enjoyed it! The aesthetic of this cafe is really nice. Limited seating though. They also have a walk up window outside you can order at too. Something to note is there is a sign saying don't allow laptops in the main seating area so this might not be the best place to sit down and do work. Although, I did still see people using them so maybe they don't care too much? Cute place, would recommend if you happen to be in the area. read more

Bright comfortable interior with a 20-30 something vibe. Came here on a Sunday morning around 11:00am. They were already out of the almond croissants! Bummer, but they still had lots of other good pastries available. We had the cheddar biscuit with bacon and egg sandwich. It has a slight hint of spice which I like. We also had the roast beef sandwich on ciabatta which came with onion jam, tomato relish, pickled onions (which we requested instead of cheddar cheese) and arugula. Both were great. I have not stopped in here in a long time, but the coffee and the baked goods are just as or perhaps better than I remember. This urban oasis in the Back Bay is a short walking distance from the Copley Place, but worth the trip. There is a small seating area with comfy cushions and tables to meet up with friends. Interestingly enough, I see the "No Laptop Please" signs on the wall yet all the people sitting there are on laptops or devices. No one from the shop is saying anything about that. The Caprece sandwich is my usual, if I see it on the menu. The ripe sliced tomato, creamy mozzarella, arugulas and vinaigrette on a moist baguette is truly a classic. Two thumbs up for a simple yet well done piece. The ordering was easy but the baristas and the kitchen staff need a better communication with the order desk. My sandwich came out way before my black ice coffee... and 2nd large coffee 5 minutes later. Glad to take the 2nd free coffee but the confusion was in the air, a lot. read more
