Iced latte
Iris X.

Finally checked it out after passing by it every time I visit Kava neo taverna. I got an iced latte and it was pretty standard. Nothing too special but perfectly creamy with whole milk without any overpowering syrupy aftertaste. I would give it another chance and try out their pastries.

Loved the room downstairs. Huge windows and a cozy fireplace. Caesar salad was good. Delicious croutons. Pasta dish was drowning in oil. Way too much! Chicken parm was good. Loved the space. Server was very attentive. There are quite a few female staff that are constantly walking around. Delivering food and clearing plates. It was always someone new at our table.

Came back here to try some of their other offerings, this time during the afternoon, and was reminded of just how much this spot's energy can brighten your day! Definitely one of my favorite cafes in the city- it just always feels so welcoming and friendly! Really, a lovely place to be. I'm a huge fan of their cafe menu's offerings and NEED to come back to try their restaurant. The food here is always a hit, but I was a little disappointed this time around with the matcha, the strawberry syrup didn't taste fresh and it lacked quality matcha flavor (but I can't blame them, matcha isn't what they're known for, and I'd much rather come here just for their food to pastries anyway). Still, one of the best places in boston to hang out with friends or family, or even come alone and just enjoy a nice day to yourself yet surrounded by good people!

I'm happy to finally check this place off my "must try list," but a little disappointed to say I might not be coming back. For a Sunday brunch it still hit the spot, but for the price I would not go out of my way to go here. The atmosphere was picture perfect. Great views in a quiet neighborhood. Can't really ask for more! In terms of service I felt as though were not attended too well. This was surprising considering we were 1/2 groups seated outside. We had to ask twice for water refills. The drinks were good, not special but good. I probably would've gotten a second round if the waiter had came over to ask! In terms of food I LOVED the ricotta fritters. I find nutella to be a bit much at times but it was seriously so so good. Perfect amount of sweetness and great portion to share with 2 friends. For my main I got the avocado toast and added 2 poached eggs. It was BEAUTIFUL, but was a bit more photo-worthy than tasty. The eggs were a pinch overdone for my liking and the toast was a bit underdone. More generally, it definitely needed a little more of a kick as well. The avocado was fresh and perfectly textured but lacked flavor. I ended up stealing a bite of my friends Caesar salad as well and was SUPER impressed by the grilled chicken. SO moist and flavorful. If I come back I'll likely be getting a chicken dish instead.

Came here on a weekday afternoon and the place wasn't super busy, but there were still a few people inside ordering. They still had a decent selection of pastries left which was nice and offered a good variety. The inside felt pretty casual and clean. I eventually just settled on a tea latte and their peanut butter & jelly cookie which honestly was pretty solid - the giant slab of jelly in the middle was a nice touch to what otherwise was just a peanut butter cookie. Tasty, but very sweet. Overall, I thought his spot was pretty solid for a midday sweet and I found the tea to be all right - just heavy on the milk. If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't mind visiting again to try their other sweets and drinks.

Reasonable distance to the Wilbur Theater. The place does not have a lot of curb appeal at street level, but it has a really cool interior below level. They have a modest but diverse wine list and prices for food and drink are reasonable. My wife ordered the steak which was moist and flavorful. The fries were hot and crispy. I ordered the seafood scampi which was awesome. The only suggestion I would make would be to provide a spoon with this spaghetti dish and perhaps Parmesan cheese?

Walked into this place because it looked like a nice spot during my visit to Boston. It was close to my hotel and seemed pretty busy. It was a bit small but I loved the vibes. The employees were nice and efficient. They served breakfast and coffee and it was delicious, I got the biscuit egg bacon and cheese sandwich. If I'm ever around I'd definitely stop by.

Such a hidden brunch restaurant gem located in the South End. After eating here I was about to make my next reservation. Truly delicious brunch food! I came here with my best friend on a Sunday morning and we were seating on the lower level restaurant floor. It was so cute and decorative inside, I loved the vibes. Half of the business is a cafe, and the other half is a sit down restaurant. The service was good and we got our food at a reasonable time despite the restaurant/cafe being on the busier side. I ordered Huevos Rancheros, which were AMAZING! Definitely one of the best in Boston. My friend ordered a smoked salmon breakfast dish, which she really enjoyed as well. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, and there was a party on my plate. I really enjoyed the fresh salsa w/ cojita and mashed avocado as a compliment to the dish. Great food. The home fries, were truly something to write home about. I am not usually a home fries person, so I was hesitant, but these were one of the best I've ever had. My only wish was that were would be more corn tortillas to fill up. By the end of the Sunday brunch, I completely cleared my plate clean. Highly recommend if you're in the South End!!!

The brunch was wonderful with solid food selection. They were busy and service was fast. The ambiance of outdoors and inside was sooo quaint and pleasant.

Stopped by with my niece, and it was hard to choose from their bakery case. She loved her carrot cake cupcakes n and my salted Carmel chocolate cupcake was divine and big enough to share!

Allegedly a Ham and Cheese Croissant - from July 2015. Not great value and a far cry from what they used to serve.

Wow - had not stopped at the Buttery for a while and remembered how awesome their ham and cheese croissants are (were). Decided to indulge in that decadent treat, overflowing with ham and cheese. Well, obviously things have changed in 2025. Here's what the new ham and cheese croissant looks like. Super disappointed. Very generic and certainly not even close to what they used to serve (you can search the existing photos for croissant and find it).

Went for a weeknight date night with my partner. Sat outside which was lovely on a warm summer evening. The service was attentive. The beverages were decent. The food was fine. They had a great deal which included steak frites, which my partner ordered, however the steak was very small and very overcooked but the bottomless fries made up for it. The lobster roll was a bit untraditional but good in its own way, just a little too bready and too much lettuce. Overall I imagine we will frequent this place during the summer, primarily for drinks +/- a more affordable meal when we are feeling too lazy to cook.

Even better was the fact that these drinks were served by someone with a warm spirit and smile.. hard to get great service these days. Also, I am not eating flour until March but my wife said the ham and cheese croissant was incredible: generous portion of ham and cheese, baked to perfection, and not too bread(y). This is a great place to stop (in a beautiful residential area too).

While another woman was bringing chairs over, an angry male server who was not involved at all, suddenly began having an aggressive outburst that made very little sense to us. Even if we didn't fully understand what he was saying, the nonverbal communication was clear enough. Our group felt extremely uncomfortable and disrespected, so we left immediately. I don't know what their internal rules are about seating, but offending customers should not be one of them. Thankfully we were able to salvage the evening elsewhere, but service here could be a challenge, especially for larger groups.
