Came for Christmas Eve dinner. Our server was very attentive and friendly, bar drinks were solid, wine list was good too. The escargot was fantastic. My duck dish was also quite good. Nice ambiance, too. I don't make it to the south end much but this is a nice upscale dining experience serving classic French food.

Came for brunch. They were severely understaffed and our food came out very cold. Had to ask for an eta after 30+ minutes. The waitress did apologize and brought complementary fries. I know she was working so hard , and was not her fault that they were understaffed (plus its Black Friday weekend). Overall would come back at a less busy time!

Some friends and I dined at Aquitaine last night after a wine tasting at The Urban Grape nearby. It's an intimate feeling space, although not small, and we appreciated that the venue was willing and able to accommodate one more person than we had booked the reservation for. I had the Duck à l'orange--was feeling I wanted something quite traditionally French--and enjoyed the dish. There was a good balance of meat to duck skin, and the accompanying spinach was a good complement. They also have exceptionally good truffle fries! Probably the best I've had anywhere. Our server recommended several bottles of wine to pair with the duck, and we went with the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a fun and fruit-forward red. I finished with the pear and apricot dessert, which I basically gobbled up. The staff let us stay past closing time (thanks, y'all!) and I'd be happy to return here again.

always so so yummy. I usually come for brunch which is just amazing but I came for dinner tonight for mother's day. The service here is unmatched and impeccable. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxing and the FOOD. yum. Got a spring asparagus pasta (new on the menu). so light and fresh. Other favorites are the potatoes gratin and the french onion soup. Also if they have the lychee cucumber martini that is also a must!

We enjoyed a very nice lunch on a cold windy rainy/snowy "Spring" day before a matinee play down the block. The place was quite busy at noon, and would recommend a reservation for brunch service. After being seated our server gave us some time to settle in and review the menu. Cocktails were good and our waiter understood we wanted to enjoy a leisurely brunch. We enjoyed a delicious and classic French Onion Soup as well as a Croque Madame. The desserts all looked good and we settled for the bread pudding. Delicious! Served warm and very crispy, one of the better bread puddings I've had. Portions are reasonably sized, but there are no sides on the sandwiches and no bread service. Prices seemed a tad on the higher side, but the food, drink and service were all good. I've been to the Chestnut Hill location for dinner years ago, and recall enjoying the dinner entrees. This is a nice spot when in the South end of Boston.

We popped in to Aquitaine for a quick afternoon drink after visiting Sault and loved the vibes. Cute bar, strong drinks, and great lighting. We'd definitely go back.

The service here has always been nice and attentive. The restaurant feels spacious, even when it gets busy for dinner time. It's pretty empty for lunch time. I think they need to finish the construction outside this restaurant because the entrance is kind of hidden. Duck confit was good. My friends liked their burgers. Fries were okay. The poke bowl was yummy, but it was not filling at all - I feel like it was missing a grain.

Stopped in on the early side on a dreary winter night for some French onion soup, salad, and a glass of wine. It was quiet enough that there were only 3 other people at the bar when I arrived. The food was fine, but the bartender was pretty inattentive. I had to ask for a menu, I had to ask for a fork for my salad; she never checked in on me after my food arrived. I probably would have stayed for a second glass of wine, had it felt more welcoming. Also, totally not the fault of Aquitaine, but the woman sitting near me at the bar was chewing ice cubes the entire time - annoying AF! Too bad - I'm a huge fan of Metropolis, owned by the same people. Probably wouldn't bother to go back here though.

Went to Aquitaine to celebrate an anniversary and enjoyed our meal. Nice ambiance and kind servers. Tried the moules en cassoulet, french onion soup, duck a l'orange and duck risotto. Moules en cassoulet were really delicious and came with many for the price. French onion soup was also phenomenal. nice cheesy layer that was not overwhelming or too oily and great caramelized onion taste with a nice acidity. The Duck risotto was good with a nice consistency of the risotto and mushroom taste. Duck a l'orange was good with a perfectly cooked seared duck breast and the orange sauce was flavorful but not too sweet. The greens that came with the dish were too salty though taking away from the overall experience. Service was great and the restaurant kindly gave us a complimentary coconut sorbet as a celebration of our anniversary. Sorbet was delicious and very refreshing after the rich meal.

Aquitaine, Boston. You walk in, and it's got that effortless Parisian elegance--the kind of place where the lighting is just dim enough, the brass fixtures glow just right, and the hum of conversation rolls over you like a warm tide. The kind of place where people linger over wine, where the food isn't just served--it's delivered with quiet confidence. Start with a drink, because that's what you do here. A cosmopolitan--balanced, crisp, not the syrupy mess you'd expect from a lesser bar. A gin and tonic--simple, but precise. It's the kind of cocktail that reminds you why the classics are classics. Then there's the escargot. If you've never had them, this is where you start. These aren't just snails drowned in garlic butter; they're little vessels of flavor, bathed in parsley, Pernod, and enough butter to make you question your life choices in the best way possible. Rich, decadent, and just unfamiliar enough to make you feel like you're somewhere else--Paris, maybe, if you squint past the South End streets outside. Dinner lands, and it's the kind of meal that lingers in your mind long after you've left. The Seared Ricotta Gnocchi--light, delicate, kissed by brown butter, with butternut squash and crispy sage playing their parts in a perfectly orchestrated bite. And then the Truffled Duck Risotto--a dish so rich it ought to come with a disclaimer. Tender duck confit, roasted shiitakes, truffle butter, Parmesan. It's indulgence without pretense, the kind of plate that reminds you why butter, cheese, and patience are the holy trinity of good cooking. The portions? Maybe a touch on the restrained side, but that's the trade-off when quality takes the lead over sheer volume. And let's be real--if you're here, you're not here for quantity. You're here for an experience. Service is tight--attentive without hovering, the kind of polished but unforced hospitality that elevates a meal. If there's one gripe, it's the seating. Near the entrance, near the bar--fine for some, but not for me. I like a seat further in, where you can absorb the full rhythm of the restaurant, where the experience washes over you in waves. Aquitaine is a place for a night out that means something--a date, an occasion, a dinner that lingers in your memory like a song you can't stop humming. It's not cheap, but it's not meant to be. It's a restaurant that delivers exactly what it promises: bold, well-executed flavors in an atmosphere that knows exactly what it's doing. You come here for the kind of meal that reminds you why dining out is one of life's great pleasures. And you leave already planning your return.

This was just about the only place open at almost 9 on a Thursday evening so we ended up at the bar. The escargot was not the best but it was still escargot so no real complaints. The sides were all so good though. The Brussels has great flavor and a nice crisp. The truffle frites were so crispy and flavorful. The green beans were perfectly cooked but still nice and crisp. The mocktails were delightful. Staff was fine. Nothing out of this world but very solid. I would definitely go again even if it wouldn't be my first choice.

The food was excellent. I had a seasonal melon gazpacho soup that was so flavorful and refreshing on a hot, muggy Boston evening. All I needed was a Boba Tea straw so I could get to it faster. As an entree I had the Sole that was cooked to perfection. The bartender makes a delightfully potent Vesper martini; I recommend having one, or two 2 f you aren't driving. The setting was very French from the furniture to dishes to the tile and woodwork...the music, not so much but I did enjoy the music. Service, on point from the greeting from the host to the dinner service by the wait staff. I would definitely go back.

Decent French-inspired brunch food. Came here for brunch the other weeks with some friends. The ambience is lovely, looks like a chic, French cafe. The service was prompt and friendly and the food decent. I ordered the Duck Hash and Eggs. As expected it was a bit greasy (it's duck confit after all), but delicious and came with a fried egg on top and some toast. I also ordered the creme brûlée which had good flavor but not the right consistency, it was pretty soupy. I expect better from a French restaurant. However, the french onion soup, which my friends all ordered, looked and tasted fantastic. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Extra mention of subpar crème brûlée

We also spent an hour at the King Tut exhibit across the street! This restaurant/bar always seems packed. And, with reservations for 645pm (highly recommend) the bar was quite busy. The buzz from this high-end cocktail bar is exactly what you want on a Friday evening; From girlfriends sipping their wine to couples laughing and swirling their cocktails, Moon Bar is for the classy and sexy. Abby our server is excellent! A mixologist who knows all the cocktails and can recommend based on your preference. I tried one of their new cocktails with bourbon and did not care for it. Abby made me my mezcal drink that I have ordered before...its the 305 cowboy, an extremely popular drink. A must try for sure! Note: Some bartenders make you feel guilty for saying something about a drink you ordered and did not like. But, here at Moon Bar, Abby was so gracious to make me something that I will enjoy. Hats off to her:) Food: Since it was restaurant week we just shared everything. For starters we ordered the Tuna Tartare that was excellent. Then, we had Piri-Piri Chicken Thighs that were also good but quite spicy. For dessert, we shared the Caribbean Tiramisu, which was great. It was a tough choice between this and the Guava Cheesecake. We were so full that we ended up bringing home leftovers. Oh, I also forgot to mention we always order their Curry Fries - a must try when coming here Trust Me. My husband doesn't love curry but he loves these fries and you will too. #friesaretodiefor Moon Bar, thanks for being amazing in every way. In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.
