Gorgeous interior with really plush cozy fabrics and dim lighting. Fantastic drinks! I cannot overstate how impressed we were with the cocktails. Every one was delicious with well balanced flavors. We arrived on time for our reservation, but our table wasn't ready until 15 minutes later. We were sat by the bar to order drinks while we waited. At our table we had an issue with our server, who tampered with our beverages without asking us after they had been delivered by the bartender. When we expressed our dissatisfaction to the floor manager they were very accommodating and our new server was very lovely and respectful. The food was underwhelming. We ordered the focaccia to start, the tagliatelle pasta for primi, and the swordfish for secondi; everything was extremely dry. The focaccia seemed to have been dried out in an oven after baking, ultimately leaving it stale. The pasta was rather tudgy and the cream sauce on it congealed very quickly. The sauce on the swordfish was too thin to compensate for how dense and thoroughly cooked the filet was. Ultimately a fine evening, but not a place I would recommend for dinner. We ordered the rabbit ragu, tuna crudo,summer Tuscan flatbread, focaccia and of course the famous tagliatelle Emilia!! Everything was truly phenomenal but the absolute must gets are the margarita, the Tuscan flatbread and the tuna crudo! By far the tuna Crudo was one of the best bites I have ever had in my life I could have eaten two full plates alone! I had dinner at La Padrona when I was in Boston last week and wow - easily one of the best meals I've had this year. I had read about La Padrona in the New York Times and then - kismet - I realized the restaurant was around the block from my hotel. I had to go! The restaurant is beautiful - really elegant but not fussy (people were still dressed comfortably, not formally). I sat the bar, which is one of the more elegant bars I've sat at recently - an oval in the center of the dining room. I started with one of their martinis (a whole page of their bar menu is martinis) - the Salty Truffle (black truffle-infused Belvedere vodka, olive brine, ricotta-parmigiana, and black truffle-stuffed olives). It was a treat - a great start to the meal. I had a glass of wine that the bartender recommended with my two courses after my martini - very good. Then I had their Charred Arrowhead Cabbage (with anchovy butter, orange, and sage). It was one of the best vegetable dishes I've had in ages. The cabbage was charred on the outside but tender on the inside (harder to do than it sounds, because I've had a lot of cabbage dishes where the cabbage is still raw inside), and the flavor was incredible. Have I ever had anchovy and orange with cabbage? Nope. Was it delicious and entirely memorable? Absolutely. Then I had a pasta course - their Rabbit Ragu Fazzoletti (milk-braised rabbit, roasted sunchokes, and fennel). Another absolute knockout. The flavor of this dish surprised and 100% delighted me. I might have closed my eyes during my first few bites. Should I have had dessert? Probably not. Did I? When a meal is this good, don't you have to? I had their vanilla gelato, which is served with olive oil croutons, 12-year Balsamic vinegar, and Maldon salt. I wish it had had a bit more of the balsamic vinegar, but the dish was delicious: sweet, savory, cream - all the best things in a dessert. A great way to end the meal. The service was good. The restaurant was beautiful. But the food and drinks really knocked my socks off. It will easily go down as one of my best meals of 2025. I'd love to return. read more

For my second visit to La Padrona for a birthday dinner, I was able to see the whole menu this time since the Easter visit was a specific menu. It's certainly interesting and full of dishes that are very authentically Italian and you might not see anywhere else. They've also just been added to the Michelin guide and it's well deserved! The noise does increase by the hours and they play music as well, so if you want it to be quieter, go on the earlier side and sit closer to the entrance. I first split the prosciutto & smashed fig crostini with a family member, and it's the best one I've had in quite a long time, and didn't seem as fatty as some prosciutto that I've had before. There were two slabs of bread with basil pesto and burrata, as if it was made just for me! Then the entree came, a very special dish of milk raised rabbit ragu fazzoletti with sunchokes and fennel in a creamy white sauce, instead of red like usual with ragu. The rabbit chunks were substantial and tasted wonderful, even though I felt a bit bad as I like rabbits a lot in general haha I started with a nice Sangiovese Chianti and then a great white wine called Arneis Marchesi. Before dessert, I was fortunate enough to have some of a family member's tagliatelle, which was delicious as I remember from Easter, and then a couple bites of the butternut squash and pumpkin brown butter ravioli which was full of flavor. The vanilla creme brûlée with caramelized sugar was wonderful and some bites even tasted like toasted marshmallow to me. I had some bites of the chocolate cake with had some wafter textures in the layers which were great. The whole thing was presented in a lovely display with some gelato added to it and a happy birthday message spelled out in fudge sauce. Then mini cannolis came at the end! My time at La Padrona was something really special, and the restaurant really went all out to make it a memorable, amazing time. Our waitress was really great and attentive. I really enjoyed La padrona! I did one visit to the upstairs part and one visit to the downstairs part. The upstairs part is mainly reserved seating including the beautiful bar seen in most pictures of this place. Upstairs I got the pornstar martini and it was expensive but amazing. I went to the downstairs part around 9pm and was very impressed by the atmosphere they created for the walk-in area. It's half bar and half lounge. I loved the cocktail lounge vibe! I got some desserts that were delicious - I'd recommend the chocolate cake over the tiramisu if you're going to pick one. Another note is that they may run out of Passionfruit for the pornstar martini late at night. Sadly no price adjustment for this. We were celebrating a belated birthday, and what a meal! The cacio e pepe focaccia and the sheep's milk ricotta were more than enough for the three of us to share with our cocktails ("Salty Truffle"made with black truffle infused vodka, and an Old Fashioned). Staff was great in walking us through some of the Spring menu selections that debuted that evening. We decided on the Spring Sorprisene pasta with basil and snap peas for the vegetarian diner, while two of us shared the roasted rack of lamb and the swordfish fra diavolo. The asparagus stalks were large, and cooked properly (not soggy). The portions were very good sized, and we had them pack 4 untouched lamb chops and the leftover fra diavolo sauce with lobster for us to take home. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and the pavlova with fruit, both of which were excellent. The dining room is on the second floor of the Raffles Hotel, and very attractive. Since it was a Saturday night, the scene was lively. My husband and I finally tried La Padrona after being torn for a while about whether we even wanted to go with all the conflicting reviews. Overall, the service and food was good, although it's much too loud (think blasting club music with a strong bass) for my taste. Yes, it's overpriced and they charge for bread, but you already know that going in. Our server did a good job helping me navigate the menu with all of my allergies and being vegetarian. To start we got the "flatbread" which was delicious- basically focaccia with tomato and onion, and came with 4 huge pieces, so we had leftovers. My husband also got the tuna crudo, which he enjoyed, and I got the fall salad "misticanza". This was barely dressed (which I actually like), had a few hazelnuts & Gorgonzola, was refreshing and big enough to share. I don't understand at all why you would have a pasta on the menu that looks vegetarian but actually has fish sauce in it (the bucatini napoletana). This was able to be modified for me, and while the pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, the flavors and textures were not pleasant (smoky with chopped green tomato?). My husband got the tagliatelle Emilia Romagna (also vegetarian) which is like a creamy Alfredo with aged balsamic. It was very good, but heavy. The vibes here are great for a swanky girls night or date night, and the two separate levels have seating to keep the night going. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but our favorites were scallops, spinach ricotta gnudi, and the eggplant Milanese. They pace the courses well, and each dish was so freshly made. They also have a HUGE selection of cocktails and wines. Reservations go pretty quickly, but easy to make online. I made reservations a few weeks in advance to celebrate my 48th birthday with my husband, and I was genuinely excited to finally try this glamorous, Michelin starred restaurant. We dressed to the nines and booked an early reservation at 5:00 p.m. (I believe it was their first seating). I usually enjoy sitting at the bar for a drink before dinner, but this isn't really that kind of place. The bar is set primarily for diners with reservations. They did kindly make an exception and allowed us to sit there for one drink, but the experience felt a bit awkward overall...even though no one seemed outwardly annoyed. Once seated, we had a great view of the dining room. There was a lot of energy..waiters, runners, and a manager moving quickly around the space, communicating through a mic. Despite the hustle, everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent. We thought every dish was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and offered thoughtful recommendations, which we appreciated. The only part of the evening that truly disappointed me was the shared restroom. I'm certainly not a prude, but it felt uncomfortable trying to wash my hands or fix my hair with men all around. Big fan of Jody Adams and her food for years, so was excited to try her newest venture. The dining room was packed, and as others have noted here, it is a loud experience. We were not quite sure why the music being played was so loud. We were able to hear our dinner guests, but sometimes it was a struggle. They do offer "club room" reservations for a quieter dining experience, but that looked like a room off to the back. Prices are high. The food and drink were good, but hard to justify the price of some items. I've posted photos of the menu, as they don't post prices on the website. Overall, we enjoyed all of the food sampled. Salads, bread service, appetizers were generous portions. I would have preferred a smaller portion at a reduced price. Our server advised that the dishes were shareable. Service was good, but there was an issue at a critical juncture of the meal. Our appetizers and drinks were done, and our server asked if we wanted another drink. We asked for a drink menu, which quickly arrived, but then nobody came to take our order for wine. Entrees were served, and mostly eaten until she returned for our drink order. Had a really nice balance. Pasta (sorry couldn't remember the name) - the tomato sauce was wellmade and overall I reallly enjoyed this dish. There was something that had me coming back for more. Porter House - for its price, I'm not sure if it was flavored enough for me. Even pairing with the garlic, it was ok. Now the side of mushrooms were AMAZING. I had a very brief 20 hour trip to Boston and had just read about La Padrona making The NY Times 50 best restaurants right now list, so I had to make a reservation for dinner with a friend. I booked a few weeks out and was able to get a prime time spot on a Friday night. La Padrona is on the 2nd floor of the new Raffles Hotel. When you walk in, it's dark, very lively, and just has classy but fun vibes. It's pretty loud inside, and while there were many groups, there were also a lot of people on dates. The cocktails were awesome: - Blooming Hour: their version of a milk punch, with calvados, chamomile, yuzu, peach, and honey. This was slightly sweet for my own tastes but still clean - Mai Padrona: their take on a mai tai - tiki but well balanced and served in a proper tiki cup with an orchi - Salty truffle: a dirty martini but with truffle. It sounds odd, but it worked so well, and it's served with truffle cheese stuffed olives on the side sitting on ice (loved the presentation) Onto food... - Caccio e Pepe focaccia: 4 large pieces topped with pecorino and fresh cracked pepper - Grilled sweet farm peppers: with smoked almonds, black currant agrodolce, and mild anchovies - Campanelle: a last of summer pasta with zucchini, squash blossoms, cruschi peppers, pine nuts, and pecorino. It was a richer pasta but has lots of textures and vegetables to offset it, so it was super well balanced - Tagliatelle Emilia Romagna: classic with cream, Parmigiano Reggiano, 12 year balsamico. This simple preparation brought me back to Italy Dessert: Warm peach crostada: a huge portion topped with hazelnut cream, cinnamon oat streusel, blueberries, olive oil ice cream We sat at the bar, and service was great - super attentive and friendly despite how busy it was. The food was great, but it's definitely also a destination for cocktails. The thought and presentation that went into the drinks is much more than at your average restaurant. I'm surprised this place doesn't have all 5 star reviews. I stayed at Raffles this summer and came here because it's in (but not run by) the hotel. The management, bartenders and hostess staff are all wonderful. Even the lounge downstairs was a great mix of fun and welcoming. I think this is my new favorite place in Boston. So the place is stunning to look at and be in but it is crammed and honestly the steps of service aren't there for the type of restaurant they want to be. For the 3 of us to have 3 entrees the bread sampler and 2 cocktails the bill was 280 without tip. We had our bread on table which was yummy but our server took our plates with still 4 pieces on there. It was a small table but we do need a plate. We got our entrees I had duck ragú and other chicken saltimboca. The ragú was a ragú but was cream and did have large pieces of duck in it. Tasty and pasta was fresh. Would I go back for it no but ok. The chicken was good but did come on the bone and wasn't described that way. The prosciutto and cheese I think was on top of it. Tasted ok but not worth it. I had 2 martinis each $30. They came with a cute cup of ice with a half fresh passion fruit for me to scoop in. I did like that touch. Overall nothing blew me away.
