We have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time but only make it do Boston maybe 2x a year. We took advantage of the Boston Dine Pri Fixe menu during Restaurant Week. We both started with the Lobster Bisque Appetizer and it was amazing, so smooth and flavorful with large chunks of Lobster meat, mainly tail meat. I had the Crispy Skinned Salmon and my wife got the Pasta Dish with Lobster. Both were amazing. Then came the desserts and they were totally decadent. Service was spot on from Bartenders John and Valentina and the GM even came by to chat it up with us and ask how our experience had been so far. This is a place you come to pay a lot of money to eat not-a-lot, which is not necessarily a bad thing, given with how obese people are. I am having a hard time judging if the rating comes more from my personal background or the actual quality of the food and experience at the Ramsay's Kitchen. It was brunch time and we weren't sure what's the we wanted to eat and we were taking Boston in with a chill vibe. The customer service was attentive and they made a lot of small talk. The interior was really nice. The restroom was quite fancy and pretty. The vibe was pretty chill, it was really not busy. We are somewhat fans of Ramsay and so were curious to try. We ordered the truffle potato gratin, which we really liked but to be honest I haven't had gratin before. The beef Wellington was really good, but it was so little of it. I felt like I barely got a bite or two of it. The lobster roll is fine, we've had much better at other restaurants in New England. We enjoyed our cocktails, but they're not the most memorable. When a waiter asks if you want tap, sparkling, or distilled water, it's a sign that you might pay $9 per bottle of water............. The more you know. We obviously don't come from a background where $9 for a bottle of pellegrino is normal when ordering at a restaurant. Overall I might consider coming here again because the food was good and the menu is varied. read more

we visited for valentine's day yesterday and were extremely disappointed. our waiter was wonderful -- this review has nothing to do with his service. unfortunately, the food fell far below expectations. we ordered the truffle chicken, which came out undercooked. i ordered the lobster roll, which was very underwhelming. additionally, my boyfriend and i do not eat pork due to a severe allergy, yet the brussels sprouts were served covered in bacon bits... after mentioning our allergy. overall, this was not the experience we were hoping for, especially for a special occasion. very very disappointed. read more

We decided to treat ourselves, made a reservation, arrived by foot, and quickly seated in a window seat for two. Our server was great, we enjoyed our salads, meal, and dessert. The Caesar Salad was a little heavy on the dressing but was delicious. I probably should have ordered it with dressing on the side. I decided to try the lobster roll which was served cold but was more like room temperature and full of large pieces of lobster. The bread was buttery and toasted perfectly. First time in Boston and when I found out Ramsay's Kitchen was located there I made reservations for my sisters, nephew and his wife for dinner. Atmosphere was definitely different from Hell's Kitchen but the food was just as amazing. I did have one hiccup with the item I ordered since I had already had the Beef Wellington at Hell's Kitchen I wanted to try something different so I ordered the Veal Chop, unfortunately I didn't care for it and they let me switch it out for the Beef Wellington...delicious as always. Our server Daniel was fantastic and very attentive. Jack the Manager was just as fantastic he went out of his way to come to our table after he heard about the item I sent back & made sure to take it off the bill. We came here for lunch on a Monday and were seated right away, which was a nice start. We ordered the spicy pomegranate margarita, which was definitely spicy but good. For food, we had the Caesar salad, RK burger, salmon, and a kids' fried chicken sandwich. The Caesar salad was just okay and had too much dressing. The salmon was pretty good, with the sticky rice being the best part of the dish. The burger was also just okay and nothing particularly memorable. The kids' sandwich was a good portion size, though the chicken itself was somewhat bland. One positive is their kids eat free deal Monday through Friday with the purchase of an adult entrée, which is a great perk. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service, which was extremely slow. It took over 30 to 40 minutes just to get a bowl of ice cream, and both the appetizers and kids' meal took a long time to arrive as well. Gordon Ramsay's restaurant was a great dining experience. The broiled branzino was excellent -- perfectly cooked and full of rich flavor. The steak was good, though not quite great. I finally tried the famous Beef Wellington; since it was my first time, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I'd rate it an A. The octopus was also tender and flavorful, a pleasant surprise. I rarely rarely fine dine and this was a good experience for me. Sometimes I wonder if the gimmicky-ness of Ramsay owning the restaurant would hinder my experience but I honestly really like it. The octopus was great tender, savory, small but it is an appetizer. Little beef Wellington and Steak Sandwhich were slightly undercooked when I had asked for medium but lucky I'm not picky. Little BW was... underwhelming... it was clear the food was under a hot plate for a bit, the mash potatoes were dry. Fish in chips were good and I liked them, they are basic but the batter was well done and portion was greattttt. The lobster pasta was sorta strange and random but I guess I can't really complain, they tried to spice it up with the ink and it was good, nothing special. The menu itself is kind of all over the place... it's weird. It touches on American (burger) hummus (middleastern), British (fish and chips). All over the place and made the menu not cohesive. We waited a pretty long time, even though we went on a Monday at 1:00pm. We were there for a good two and a half hours, unnecessarily. Our waiter was polite but we did sit around a bit waiting for the bill and she took plates before everyone was done eating. For restaurant week, actually lasting 2 weeks by the way so there's still a few more days of it if you'd like to take advantage, we visited Ramsays for the first time in a bit, and their special menu was one of the best I've seen, included in my photos. First we indulged with the Parker brioche rolls, which aren't complimentary but worth trying at least once, as they're particularly fluffy and even a bit moist, suspiciously resembling these amazing rolls that many years ago could be enjoyed at Abe & Louie's until that chef apparently left and they didn't have them anymore (I've mentioned all of this years ago in my review for that restaurant, my first review for this site). I began with the lobster bisque, and had a good amount of the harvest salad as well. The salad was very refreshing and had a good amount of apple slices, almonds, and goat cheese. The bisque was lovely, for the meat consisting of part of a claw and some tail pieces in a mildly spicy but rich, well balanced tasting soup. I had to get the Beef Wellington again, one of the best pieces of meat one could ask for, being super tender and with a flavorful crust around it. There's various vegetables and this big swirl on the whole plate of mashed potatoes too. The presentation is a work of art. Lastly I had the very refreshing vanilla mascarpone cheesecake with graham cracker crust, lemon curd, and blueberries, a perfect summer dessert. I was also able to try a good amount of the sticky toffee sponge cake/pudding with warm toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. This cake is wonderfully moist and decadent, a dense treat for sure worth trying if you had enough room for it after the entree. The fact that these were all options for the special deal menu makes me highly recommend trying it out, as it is more than worth it! I'm giving this place 4 stars for its overall experience but I'm going to be honest, I expected a lot more food-wise from my first Gordon Ramsay dining experience! The service was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, on beautiful Boylston in Boston right in the thick of it. The ambiance was very comfortable. The food came out reasonably quickly and was presented beautifully. For all that, four stars earned. But the food itself left something to be desired. I'll comment on the three things my wife and I tried: 1. Beef Wellington ($44) I got the "petite" beef Wellington which was a lunch portion at $44, which I found out is literally just half of the regular dinner portion which was priced somewhere over $70. I was offered the upgrade to the larger portion but since this was my first time here I opted for the smaller portion in order to test the waters. And I'm glad that I did. The beef itself was cooked nicely, wall-to-wall pink medium-rare. But the filet itself lacked a good sear and it lacked mustard flavor. And maybe it was just my portion, but it didn't come with prosciutto or crepe which are part of Gordon's traditional Wellington recipe (or so at least I thought). The mushroom duxelles was bland and also extremely wet and mushy. The pastry itself was cooked nicely and honestly was the best part of the whole dish. The potato mash was just fine, nothing special just regular mashed potatoes. The demiglace tasted extremely salty and wine-y but wasn't the most flavorful otherwise. As an amateur cook I've made beef Wellingtons by Gordon's own cookbook recipe before multiple times and I gotta say I expected a lot more out of a Ramsay's Kitchen dine-in experience. 2. Squid Ink cavatelli with lobster ($46) This dish was delicious. At $46 it was not cheap for a pasta main but that's what lobster does I guess. The squid ink pasta was delicious and tasted fresh and very al dente just how I like it. The sauce was creamy and unctuous. The lobster meat was not that plentiful, however, and most of the chunks were quite chewy and overcooked. If there were an option to get this same dish without the lobster meat but like $22 cheaper, I honestly would have gone for that. 3. Broccolini side ($12) This was an all-out winner. Did not see that coming from a veggie side dish. Cooked perfectly, nice and crunchy fresh broccolini with a delicious tart chimichurri, fried garlic chips, and pickled red onion. Very nice. For the amount of money we spent, I'd say I honestly wish we had splurged on something a few short steps over at Eataly or something nearby. Perhaps I have to try a different Ramsay location next time but to be honest I was expecting a lot more from this one. It's just kind of confusing, like bostons a big city, you know? read more

It was Joe's birthday which we celebrated on Saturday in advance of the snowstorm. He had the petit Beef Wellington, Caroline had a pancake and avocado toast, and I had the burger. They were excellent, and just the right portion size for lunch. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the chocolate tart, and the staff made it festive with a chocolate birthday greeting and candle. The wait staff was attentive, and the manager came to check on how we enjoyed everything (which we did). We liked the fact that the tables were not too close to one another, allowing for some privacy. Overall, I think this place has decent food. Especially when it comes to lunch and the prix-fixe menu. Otherwise I didn't try the prix-fixe menu. I think it would've offered the classics that you would expect from Gordon and his most famous fare. Previously, I've tried their beef Wellington, which was a bit underwhelming for me, especially as an avid Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Masterchef watcher. This time around, I tried some of the recommended items from the waiter. The tuna tartare was probably my favorite. The fish and chips were alright. Passed by Ramsey's Kitchen so many times and always meant to stop in, finally did on a random lunch day, and it was a really lovely experience. Service was a bit slow and a couple of orders got mixed up, but they were super apologetic, which we appreciated. I loved my steak sandwich, and of course we couldn't resist making a few idiot sandwich jokes. My group and I decided splitting a Beef Wellington felt only right. We both ordered from the lunch prix fixe menu: $29 for two courses and $35 for three courses. I ordered chicken wings as an app and the fish and chips for my entree. The wings were slightly sweet and glazed. The fish was super crispy and salted well. It came with several fries which I didn't care for. My friend ordered the burger and fries and her fries were better. She loved her burger. Instead of an app, they were able to accommodate her request for her second dish to be a dessert. The half of the restaurant we sat in was pretty empty during the meal so it's great if you're looking for somewhere easy to get into during the week. I would return again, especially for their lunch prix fixe menu! The beef Wellington looked really great so I'm curious about that; it's on the lunch prix fixe for an extra $24. read more

With so many great food options here, every spot needs to have something special to get you in and this one offers all of Gordon Ramsay's most popular dishes. The service greeted us when we walked in and told us about the menu. The menu at this spot was straightforward with all the classics and he even provided recommendations, which is a plus. We start out with a crab cake that was made with large lump crab and from scratch, which is always great. The entrees we went with were the wellington and scallops. The wellington was tasty and I enjoyed it down to the last bite. The scallops however were nothing special. On Ramsay's show, everyone makes a big deal about scallops but it really wasn't that flavorful and we should have went with another protein. The serving was also only 4 scallops, which I was aware of and the waiter did mention as well. Another sign of great service! The go to dessert and for some the main reason to come to a Ramsay restaurant is the sticky toffee cake. Fluffy and decadent. The perfect way to end a meal. The restaurant is quite nice inside. It is on the loud side between the guest talk and the piped in overhead music. The staff was excellent as was the floor manager service who checked in on me. I do agree with a prior reviewer who said that the food does come out quickly between Courses However, the food was not up to my expectation. I ordered the three Course fixed price menu for dinner. It was $105. I chose the lobster Bisque the beef, Wellington, and the sticky pudding. Lobster Bisque : I was very unimpressed with lobster bisque I found it to be too thin, and most importantly, lacking taste. There was a very small lobster claw meat in the middle of the bowl, but the bisque itself was forgettable. One of the managers did ask me how I like the soup and I honestly told him I didn't. I explained what my concerns were. He apologized and said he was going to taste it himself. However, I never heard back from him about what he thought Beef Wellington: this is a signature dish of the restaurant it was quite good. The beef was very tender and cooked well. The sauce was good. It would be something I would eat again The dish was accompanied by a small portion of puréed potatoes. They really had no taste. This was particularly disappointing as menu stated that these potatoes were prepared with sour cream and chives. However, I tasted no evidence of chives in the dish. I paid $20 extra to have some fois gras put on the beef Wellington. I did receive 2 quarter sized pieces of fois gras on 1/2 of the Wellington. I ordered of macaroni and cheese. ($16) It said it was done with a smoked Gouda, which I thought would give a nice taste to the macaroni and cheese. While the dish was creamy and the noodles were fine , I tasted no evidence of Gouda cheese or anything smoked. The sauce was pretty much bland. Unfortunately, the only two non-vegetable sides that you can order are the puréed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese. Sticky pudding: the pudding was good. It came in kind of a bath of caramel sauce. I had no complaints for a dessert. I ordered wine by the glass. A Cabernet from Napa. I had to pay $45 for one glass . It was a good glass of wine but probably not something I'd pay $45 again for.a glass If I went back to this restaurant, I probably would not get the fixed price menu. They did have some good looking appetizers besides the forgettable lobster bisque. I would probably order one of those, the beef, Wellington, and one of the desserts. My final Bill, which included a cocktail, a soda, the fixed price menu, the extra fois gras , and the wine came to approximately $225 for one person Just my opinions read more

First time trying a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, and it was a mixed bag. The food was solid but the service was lacking for the price point. We got the shrimp cocktail, crab cake, and tuna tartar for apps. The seafood was fresh - the tuna tartar was especially well seasoned. I had my first Gordon Ramsey beef Wellington, and it certainly lives up to the hype. The beef was tender and the flaky pastry was oh so buttery and delicious. Wasn't a big fan of the Brussel sprouts though - they were a little more burnt than I like and were drenched in the balsamic vinegar that was almost syrupy in nature. The sticky toffee cake is definitely worth saving room for though. It was caramel heaven. The service was disappointing as it took awhile for us to get drinks and have someone come check on us for food orders. They also left off our order of the Parker rolls. Anyways for the price tag I was expecting a bit more on the service side but I am glad I finally got to try the beef Wellington and sticky toffee pudding which are worth a try if you have never had it before. read more

Solid. Well prepared food with great flavors in a tastefully decorated venue. This is my third Ramsay restaurant and the first one that I want to return to. It's in a great location that makes it easy to pop in for lunch off of Newbury Street or the Prudential shopping center. Prices are what would be expected for a higher end restaurant in the area. My friend was visiting from NY and we visited RK on a warm summer Thursday night. Our server Julia was so friendly and gave us excellent menu recommendations. I went with the lobster bisque, squid ink cavatelli with lobster, and the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was spot on delicious. My guest had the harvest salad, chickpea tikka masala, and the sticky toffee pudding. He was equally impressed. The portions were perfectly sized - not overwhelmingly large and not skimpy. Everything was meticulously prepared as one would expect here. The beverage manager Miguel was knowledgeable and eager to discuss the wine list with us and gave us excellent pairing options. The food was good but staff rushed you out.... We sat for under one hour and it was insane how fast the food came out (not necessarily bad but also odd). We also got dessert and drinks I can't complain about the food but it seemed like the dishes were just premade and ready to dish out like fast food. Once we got our check the waitress came by and checked if we had paid yet 5 times before stopping over and asking if we're ready..... for context at this point we'd only been seated for 45min including dinner, drinks and dessert. I thought my life was over when I almost failed my calculus exam but here I am judging Ramsey's kitchen so I guess life does get better. It was kinda empty for a week day early dinner, feels very laid back and relaxing, and the server was smiley but the service was not fast. The obvi must have Beef Wellington ($69) was beyond mediocre. The puff pastry looked crispy but tasted kinda soggy. The middle part with museum and spice was weirdly bland, so the whole thing just tasted greasy, plus the beef was dry. I heard sometimes they make very good wellingtons but I've maxed my luck finding the best dude so I prefer places with stable performance. The dessert sticky toffee pudding tho was really good. This place is a disgrace to have Gordon Ramsay's name on it. Ambiance and service is good but that's pretty much it. Desk wobbles because of uneven legs. Ordered two main dishes, one filet mignon, the other one of the pasta dishes. Filet mignon was cooked nicely but the plating was an utter joke. No other side that goes with it other than the pathetic small half a charred cut open tomato. The pasta dish was a bit salty. We also ordered an extra scoop of ice cream which I recommend. But man was it expensive! My grandson and daughter in law are big fans of Gordon Ramsay, and watch him on TV frequently. We planned a family celebration here for 5 of us, and the food was unexpectedly horrible and inedible. I ordered the barbecue beef sandwich , and what arrived was 4 slabs of filling on a roll with a little barbecue sauce. The slabs were entirely white- yellow fat, and in aggregate the red- brown meat was smaller than a nickel(length by width by height). The entire pice this sandwich was built from should have been trimmed off and pitched into the trash prior to making a sandwich. It was insulting to be served a fat sandwich in any establishment, particularly in one that perceives itself to be excellent. I have had far superior barbecue beef from an undistinguished food truck at 20 percent of the price this was listed at. I returned it to the waiter and in its place ordered fish and chips- a generous portion of fresh fish in a good battered crust, unfortunately glistening with an oil slick.(which I blotted off and then it was good. Went here for my birthday dinner on Friday and had both amazing service and food! Food came out fast, and was delicious. We started with the Parker rolls- which were warm and fluffy. As a vegetarian, I loved the chickpea tikka masala. So happy that they have that as an option! My husband got the beef Wellington and said it was excellent. We got the baked Mac n cheese on the side. Went here on a Friday night and had heard good things about the restaurant before going. I ordered the chickpea tikka masala and my friend ordered the beef Wellington after being told it was a signature of the restaurant. The style and presentation of the chickpea tikka masala was good, but the flavor was a bit disappointing. It didn't particularly have as much flavor as I expected and the bread included with it also didn't have too much to it. While it wasn't my dish, from what I tried of it it seemed overly salted. I think the idea and concept was really cool, but it didn't seem to have as much interesting flavor as expected. The servers were very kind. For dessert I shared the strawberry Eton mess and vanilla mascarpone cheesecake. Both of these were extremely creative but I again wasn't blown away by the flavor of them. read more
