Having eaten in Paris, I can attest to the authenticity of Rochambeau, especially the escargot. I've been here a number of times, mostly in the early 2020s where we sat outside during warm weather, and always had great times. It was a treat to finally come back for a family member's birthday dinner. We sat inside which I don't remember having been in, and it's a nice calming space and not too busy. The menu is a bit different from before, but just as impressive. All of us went for this excellent fixed dinner option of NY strip steak in a delicious sauce, baguettes, a great salad, and bottomless frites! You could also substitute the steak for mussels. We also got a side order of spinach and started with lemon garlic herb escargot, which I remember from before and tasted just as wonderful and rich as it always had. Everything was delicious, and the service was great too. They even brought us a slice of butter cake with ice cream which I loved. While it isn't the easiest to find or get to, Rochambeau is a superb restaurant in Back Bay that comes highly recommended. read more

Lovely brunch at Rochambeau with live music, cute mimosas and yummy food. The French onion soup is an absolute must! That cheese and the flavor of the soup is to die for. Just wonderful. Paired with some burrata and oysters and you're all set! read more

We came on a random night because we had a gift card and we loved it! We started with the burrata which was delicious and I ordered the unlimited steak and frites. Overall so so delicious! The deal was amazing and it was so much food. My boyfriend ordered a dish with sausage, duck, and another meat but I cannot remember the name! We loved the service, the vibe, and the food! read more

Jazz + brunch might just be the perfect combination. Rochambeau is a Parisian-inspired French brasserie in Boston's Back Bay, serving French classics with a modern twist. If you can, visit on a Sunday when they host live Jazz Brunch from 10 AM-3 PM! We started with the raw oysters and French onion soup, both absolutely worth ordering, before I had the steak & eggs for my entrée. And definitely save room for one of their unique desserts! Between the food, atmosphere and live jazz, this was one of those brunches that felt like an experience rather than just another meal. read more

Service was excellent! My server was from Bogota, Colombia (I think her name was Sofia?) and made sure I was happy with the experience. She recommended multiple items and I went with the octopus and truffle burrata and they were both great. The kitchen forgot to put the honey truffle so obviously there was no truffle flavor, so when I told her she came and brought the honey to drizzle on top. Then she brought me a birthday dessert since I told her it was my bday. The inside is romantic and cozy. You can sit outside, downstairs or upstairs. I bet entree items are also delicious but I didn't have more room in my belly! read more

From my previous experience, the flavors of the food at the steak room changed little. Everything was delicious - salad, bread, steak, and fries. Even the butter wasn't refrigerater cold this time. Offering was $37, only up $2 from my previous visit. However, everything around it proved disappointing. Only the fries were now bottomless; the salad and bread were not. What really killed this dinner was the service. I went at 10pm with the mutual understanding discussed with the server that the kitchen would close before 11 (their official closing hours). No problem, I could front load some fries. The service for most of the meal was acceptable. However, almost at the dot on 11, I could not find any wait staff to pay the bill. I saw BOH staff leave for 20 minutes without seeing a single server. I had to barge into the kitchen. Does this place not have protocol to check for diners finishing their meals during closing? The food flavors themselves warrant 4*. -1* for eliminating bottomless salad and bread. Having to hunt down wait staff like I'm at a neighborhood HK Style Cafe type restaurant actively pisses me off and makes me want to swear off this place and proactively prevent others from dining here. read more

As a gluten free girlie this was 10/10 I went to the bar before and got a couple of drinks. My reservation was with the steak room. I got the oyster Rockefeller without the bread crumbs and they were AMAZING. I also did not know they had gluten free bread which was super kind. I got the Cesar no croutons. And the steak I got the peppercorn on the side. Great place for gluten free girlies. read more

After dinner elsewhere we stopped in for cocktails. We sat at the bar and got immediate service. They didn't seem too busy around 7PM on a weeknight. They have an interesting cocktail menu, including cocktails with Chartreuse. The drinks we got were pretty good, so was the service. Overall, this visit was nice, I could see returning for a meal next time. read more

Made a reservation for a Friday for the steak frites special. $37 for salad, steak and unlimited fries. We also got bread and butter. Everything was delicious and my steak was cooked perfectly. I loved the outdoor seating, especially on such a nice day and the service was great. We arrived around 6pm and it wasnt too busy. But id highly recommend making a reservation since it definitely was packed as the night went on. read more

I stopped at Rochambeau on a trip to Boston after seeing multiple recommendations to eat there, and I completely understand why now. I do have to take off a star because of a scheduling issue, but rest assured, it has nothing to do with the food. All sites (including their own) stated dinner started at 4, but when I arrived at 4:20, I was told I needed to wait until 5 because they only had enough staff to handle a private event. I had a flight to catch and was on a schedule, so this was quite frustrating. I had a great experience once I was seated. I started with the baguette, and it was fantastic. It was crunchy and buttery, and the salted butter served with it was creamy and delightful. The dining area is beautifully decorated and contributed to the overall ambiance of the meal. The stars of the show were the wood-fired sirloin and frites. Many people had commented on the fries at Rochambeau, and they were right to do so. They were perfectly cooked, and the bernaise served with the steak was excellent for dipping. The steak was incredibly tender, and the herbed butter on top was delicious. Something to note that I found odd: fountain drinks do not come with free refills, and they are $4 each. Be mindful of this if you are thirsty! Overall, I loved Rochambeau, and it has been added to my list of regular spots when I am in town. read more

For the final day of my Boston trip I wanted to find a nice date spot for my lady and I, and I think we got it. The second floor ambience was exactly what I was hoping for, and the service was great as well. I had heard the french onion soup was incredible, and even though I don't care too much for it typically, I enjoyed theirs quite a bit! Not disappointed But what brought this from a 4 to 5 was the duck dinner entree. The duck was so tender and flavorful, the potatoes had a wonderful texture, and the plum sauce tied everything together beautifully. I would go back just for that. read more

Brunch was great! The bar area has a nice vibe and the service was good. The tuna nicoise salad was very flavorful but there were too many things in it (they could have left out the cucumbers and artichokes). Came here for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago after seeing it on TikTok, and it was just as good as everyone said! The weather was perfect, so my husband and I sat outside before heading to the baseball game. We started with mimosas (they have an awesome bottle deal, but we just stuck to one this time). We got some fresh oysters to start- so good, east coast fresh! My husband had the steak and eggs, and I went for the duck confit hash. Everything was delicious and well made. Great food and a beautiful spot. Definitely coming back to try the dinner menu next time. read more

We decided to stop by based on a recommendation from a friend who said their Brioche French Toast is really good. Well they weren't wrong! I didn't order it but I had the pleasure of cleaning up a plate! The slices of toast are really thick but light and airy. I'm not a big fan of banana in my food unless it's banana bread but it was definitely good. It served as a really good dessert for me! I ordered the Duck Hash because I like duck and hash and to have them together seemed too good to be true! So the duck wasn't really all that tasty. It could have used a little more seasoning but it really lacked that duck flavor. The duck itself sat on top of the potato hash which itself was nice and light. The poached eggs were done perfectly and again the bread, was nice. I didn't taste the Salmon Avocado Toast but it was all gobbled up with nothing but crumbs left on the plate so I assume it was good! I also had a Bloody Mary and it was nice and spicy. Our server was nice and very good. He's from New York and recently moved to Boston. I think he'll do well with the food scene. read more

Rochambeau was honestly pretty mediocre, especially for the prices. The drinks were good and probably the highlight of the experience, but the food itself was pretty bland and didn't really live up to the expectations. On top of that, the service was painfully slow, which made the overall experience even more disappointing. At one point, our food arrived and we didn't even have forks to eat it with, which is honestly pretty ridiculous for a restaurant at this price point. Between the underwhelming food, slow service, and lack of basic attention to detail, I just don't think the experience justified what we paid. The drinks were good, but overall, I left feeling like Rochambeau was more about the atmosphere and price tag than the actual dining experience. There are plenty of places in Boston where I'd rather spend my money. here read more

Honestly, one of the best meals I've had! We ate at the steak room and got the fixed menu. The fixed menu included bread and butter, salad and steak with French fries. I made this reservation about three weeks prior because I flew in town for my graduation and I was so excited to try it. I saw the octopus on the menu and I couldn't wait for some fresh octopus so close to the water. Well.. when I ordered the octopus the server informed me that they were out.. Instead, we ordered a dozen oysters, the Tuna Crudo, the Steak Tartare, Shrimp Cocktail and Salmon with Ceasars Salad. The oysters were delicious and fresh, very enjoyable. The Tuna Crudo was also fresh and it had really good flavor and the sour dough pn the side was a nice touch. The Shrimp Cocktail was simple but so so fresh that it was so delicious! Some of the best shrimp I've had yet. The Samon was seared perfectly that it was crispy without making the Salmon dry! And the Ceasar Salad was so fresh and dressed perfectly as well. After our meal, they brought out a swan ice cream dessert because we were celebrating and the server poured a chocolate sauce on it. It was okay but the bread was not good quality sometimes kind of got stale while eating it. And the Moltent Lava cake was pretty good, perfectly gooey in the center and very enjoyable. The inside of the restaurant was very beautiful and inviting with lots of ambient lighting. Overall, the food was pretty decent. I'm glad I got to try Rochambeau but I probably wouldn't come back. read more

I had a good brunch at Rochambeau. I ordered the veggie French Omelette, and it was good - I did need to season it a bit, but it was flavorful and the portion was generous. My friends also enjoyed the meals they got - my friend especially enjoyed her Eggs Benedict. As for the ambience, the place is absolutely stunning. It started a little bellow expectation as the area we reserved to sit in was taken by a private party so the anticipated ambiance wasnt achieved. None the less were seated in a comfortable area with no exposure to cold or the kitchen traffic. The food was prepared exceptionally well. The roast duck was prepared better than I have ever experienced. Duck tends to be oily and or gamey this was neither. The bolagnase was perfect blend. The combination with proportion to the pasta .Great flavor. Our server Angel was both engaging and attentive with out hovering. The only draw back was bar service. A simple proper amaretto sour seemed beyond their abilities. Wine list and recomended selection appealed to other members of our group w smiles all around. read more

Came here for a grad dinner with family and the service was lovely. I did struggle to make a reservation over the phone so I came in person to book the reservation. Originally I was looking to book an 11 person reservation which they were very accommodating for even though I was only booking less than two weeks in advance for grad weekend. My plans changed to a smaller party. We enjoyed the steak tartare and truffled burrata to start. I split the crispy duck breast and wood grilled sirloin with my grandma and both were delicious! I loved the duck the best. My dad order the cassoulet and a side of grilled asparagus and seemed quite happy. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse and they even brought us a complimentary dessert new to their menu to enjoy. This was a perfect place to celebrate a graduation with good company. read more

Some friends and I came in for brunch at 10am on a Sunday and were able to grab a table right away upstairs. The space is beautiful with an art deco vibe and great ambiance. Shortly after we arrived a jazz singer came in which added even more to the experience. We had cappuccinos and Bloody Marys which were excellent and perfectly balanced. Another friend ordered sparkling wine which was just ok so she added a side of orange juice which surprisingly came with ice. I can't say I've seen ice in a juice that wasn't a cocktail. We split the lemon ricotta pancakes that were fluffy served with whipped cream and berries. They were fantastic and a perfect pop of sweetness. I ordered the mussels and frites which were great and served with a tomato based broth. They had great flavor and I used a spoon to eat as much as possible. The omelette was good but weren't expecting the bacon to be inside of it. The shrimp was fresh but the crab cake was very different and tasted like it had curry inside. It was just ok. Overall I recommend Rochambeau if you are in Boston! read more

Went to try brunch with my friend! I got there before her and our waiter quickly got us water while I waited for her to arrive. We got the ricotta pancakes and eggs Benedict to split. The lemon ricotta pancakes were topped with fresh berries and definitely was our favorite of the two dishes. My friend doesn't really liked eggs but she said she enjoyed the eggs Benedict! I thought they were quite yummy as well and had a good portion of juicy ham. Everything was yummy and would definitely go back to try their dinner too. I've heard they have good steak frites so definitely have to go back and try them one day! I can see it having a romantic mood for dinner so definitely will be back with my fiancé. read more

Had an excellent meal here a few weeks ago. Made a reservation in advance and selected the steak room. There is no app rent steak room, but we were seared with the special menu with the steak option. The food was well prepared and very tasty. We started with the french onion soup which was very delicious and had a good melted cheese. Tried the steak dinner with bottomless fries which was pretty good as wel. Steak was very juicy and fries tasty. I liked the rosemary salt they had which elevated the fries. I do wish they were tossed in an olive oil and rosemary blend like smash burger, but still extremely good Had a really delicious dessert which was the chocolate cake and the mocha pudding dish. Both very good and very rich. Overall a great experience and food option! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent staff/service and delicious foods! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and feels sophisticated and beautiful. The ambience really fits the restaurant well! They have a large menu with lots of delicious options! We tried the truffle burrata and crab cake both were delicious. The truffled burrata was so flavorful and had real truffle shavings! The French onion soup here is a must. It was perfect flavor and sooooo cheesy!! For mains we got eggs Benedict, lemon ricotta pancakes and steak and eggs. All were so delicious and cooked perfectly!! For dessert we got a cookie skillet that was super soft and warm, the swan which is their iconic dessert served with warm chocolate poured over the top and the crème brûlée. Honestly the crème brûlée could've been better; the texture was a bit lumpier than expected for a crème brûlée Overall great experience and would definitely recommend read more

We started with the french onion soup and it was so good. Incredible amount of cheese, and the soup was full of umami. Croque Monsieur was great and I loved how it stayed crispy even with the bechamel all over it. The fries were perfect. My BF got the duck confit hash and it had the perfect balance of everything. Interesting French cuisine restaurant in Boston Back Bay. Beautiful dining room on second floor, with trendy bar cafe lounge on the first floor. Service is excellent and attentive. Great touch for complimentary champagne and chocolate cookie vanilla ice cream dessert for anniversary celebration dinner. Main entrees are excellent. Crispy duck breast $44 is fatty, amazingly tender, and nicely balanced with spring barley, plum sauce and honey. Steak frites $37 are very good. NY strip steak comes in the most tender lean strip steak, with super crispy salted fries. Endless fries give options for free second serving of delicious crispy string fries, albeit busting the daily sodium intake several times over. French onion soup $17 is very good, with generous amount of Gruyère, but small bowl could do better with more generous serving of delicious oxtail soup. Desserts are not typical French delight to expect in France. Hot plate chocolate cookie with vanilla bean ice cream was yummy, but several tads too sweet. The Swan $12 comes as a vanilla ice cream (ok, could have stronger vanilla taste) wrapped with cream puff (no fresh bake taste) glazed in chocolate sauce. Overall a pleasant dining experience in an American restaurant, as long as not expecting French culinary experience. Highly recommend the main entrees, can skip the desserts. read more

My friend has severe allergies to nuts, legumes, and beans. It was her birthday and they brought out a small cake dessert. She took a bite and found a bean in her dessert. It was extremely concerning. As the friend, I was so stressed out and we had to quickly leave to get her medication. Restaurant apologized but did nothing. Most things are pretty mid, nothing too bad and nothing too good. Service is just bare minimum, and honestly not worth the price. The truly terrible and awful part is the steak. The steak is TERRIBLE. I've never had such dry piece of steak. Despite ordering medium rare, it tastes like a well done steak. The fat on the side is almost rubbery, and it is simply astonishing how they can mess up a steak like this. Especially considering the price and popularity of the restaurant. I got the French toast with caramelized bananas and it was so good and moist. It was a pretty large portion so I took some to go. The side of bacon is also enough to share. My friend got the eggs Benedict crabcake and he loved it. Would definitely recommend on end over the crabcake appetizer as it's the same price. The crab cake had lots of crab meat too. Rochambeau was the second stop during my best friend's birthday evening this Friday. We had a reservation for 5 people at 8 p.m. and they led us upstairs when we arrived. The restaurant is so pretty - very chic and full of greenery. They have single stall bathrooms that were well maintained. I ordered the bolognese, which I thought was rich and yummy, as well as Deux Rose cocktail. If you like rosé and sweet drinks you'll like this! The other girls at the table also enjoyed their drinks, which included an Assesino Viejo, Soleil Spritz and a Lemon Drop. Our server Diego was very polite and you could tell he really wanted to provide good service. Unfortunately there were a couple times he brought out the wrong item, which may have been because it was loud in the restaurant and we were in a booth. He allowed the birthday girl to choose a dessert and we sang happy birthday, but she asked for chocolate cake and he brought out a creme brulee. She didn't mind and we still enjoyed the the treat. I would come back to Rochambeau, especially for a date night or evening with friends. Overall would certainly recommend! read more
