    Egg Custard Bun
    Keerthi D.

Great Taste is a restaurant in Chinatown that has seating, but is mostly known for its bakery and desserts that you can pickup. We came here after lunch for a sweet treat and they were adamant that we couldn't sit down even though we ordered Egg Custard Buns. The wait time was long and inconvenient, but we didn't mind since it was raining outside. The ambiance inside was very family friendly and similar to other dim sum restaurants. The egg custard buns were okay - the bun was soft when warm, but hardened pretty quickly. Also, the filling was a little grainy but not too sweet. The buns were cute and reasonably priced, but I wouldn't go back.

It's a pretty small dim sum place but they make the most out of it! The servers were attentive. As for the food, I thought the selection and quality of the food was average compared to other dim sum places I've been to. Nothing that was phenomenal, but nothing that was bad either. I particularly liked the shrimp dumplings. They also had a photo of red bean buns dressed like minions on the wall that we ordered. However, they gave us what I think are egg yolk buns instead, with no minions which was disappointing. Not sure if it was a language barrier or if they messed up our order.

I was visiting Boston and my local friends love this place for dim sum so they had to bring me in to try. The service was great! I'm so used to dim sum restaurant servers being so hostile, this was a nice surprise. We tried the usual shu mais and dumplings and then ordered BEEF CHOW FUN and SALT AND PEPPER SQUID. All were great, not thee best, but it was good and hit the spot. We all left stuffed and would return again. Note that if you are one to eat a lot of chili oil with your dim sum, be clear and ask for the whole bottle from the beginning, or they will keep bringing you a small amount each time.

A little bakery that if you go to the back and turn around the corner, a little hotspot for dimsum and Cantonese food. Enter the restaurant through the back of the bakery. The daikon radish cake grilled was great (once they gave us the right sauce), congee was solid, but the ginger tripe and the chicken feet in a "black bean sauce" were bland, lacked any flavor. Seating is first-come, first-served, tight little tables, and they give you a menu while you wait so you can order and be ready when you sit down. Service is brisk and brusque - no niceties here, just efficiency as they bring food asap as prepared and take away plates once they see you're done.

Solid dim sum! Came here with a party of 4 at prime time 11am on Saturday. Somehow got a table immediately because it got super packed right after with people standing around the tables waiting for spots to open up. Service was fast & efficient as they're trying to move people in & out as quick as possible. No cart, check the food items on the list (they provide pics) & they bring it out to you. All of the items came out hot & fresh except for the egg tarts which was a slight bummer. Restaurant accepts card, the bakery line is cash only. $80 for 4 people after tip. Restaurant could be cleaner but along with the chaos of how crowded it was, it definitely adds to the authenticity LOL. Would recommend overall.

I got a bunch of bean cakes. Parking so hard to find . This place is very small . No bathroom for customer . Wheelchair access yes. Location is in Chinatown Boston, Massachusetts . This dessert is always good and delicious .

I always come here for dim sum and pastry. Service is ok in general, but I think it's not that expensive compared to other restaurants and bakeries and the flavor is good. 豉汁炒蚬 is ok though. The clam is small and has a bit of sand. XO酱炒萝卜糕,虾饺,虾肠 are pretty good.

Love this place. No frills great food. Great value. I highly recommend it. Dim sum, breakfast, Hong Kong style food. In short its all here bakery even.

Bakery review: We came here for some Asian desserts. Saw a line for the dim sum restaurant; going to have to check that out next time! The service was quick and friendly at the bakery. We picked a few items to try. The moon cake with red beans inside was delicious. The yellow cat cake was amazing; super creamy, smooth, and not too sweet. I am not a fan of too sweet and love that most Asian desserts are not too sweet. Another favorite is the egg custard tart; so flakey and creamy. I would've ordered more but we just had a big lunch. Overall, a decent little bakery in the middle of Chinatown.

    Preserved egg and pork congee

The congee had a good consistency. The ribs didn't have a lot of flavor, but everything else was pretty standard. Not a lot of dim sum selections but the menu has most of the classics. Seating is quite limited: 2 large tables that can fit 6 people and multiple small tables for parties of 2-4. There was no wait when I came at 2pm on a Sunday. The congee and vegetables were served quickly but the wait for dim sum was slightly longer.

Pork buns... yum! The dough is soft and perfect. A nice midday snack!! My friends enjoyed it too!

I really like how I can have dim sum for dinner! Went here with my bestie on a Friday night. The food was delicious! We ordered several things that were all tasty and reasonably priced. Also grabbed some goods from the bakery. I liked the lotus leaf wrapped rice and the pork buns the best. The food came out quickly too!

    Do we need any reservation?

No reservations available. First come first serve. Going before noon is ideal for betting crowds on busy weekends.

Guys and Gals, could anyone help me with the dimsum time frame? Is dimsum served all day or nah? Thanks in advance

I think they stop at 4pm; I know for sure it's not served all day because I stopped by around 6pm and they didn't have dim sum. Windsor around the corner serves all day dim sum though.

Minced Beef Claypot Rice免治牛煲仔飯: Surprisingly, the minced beef was served in a thickened meat sauce. However, the seasoning was a bit bland, so I added three extra spoonfuls of soy sauce. Convenient Chinatown main district location near the excellent bakeries next door I visit for Chinese pastries . I saw a picture of the meat combo of duck, char sue, pork belly, white rice, hot Vegetables. I ordered the combo, an appetizer of pan fried dumplings. Nice Asian restaurant environment, but not a spot to enjoy a lengthy dinner with soothing music ambience or sipping hot tea... a busy no nonsense kitchen type eating place with yelling, bone chopping. The hanging appetizing cooked ducks, pork, chicken creates the vibe of a China town experience. Quick service, nice hot tea in kettle offering. The combo meat platter was cold slices of meat , rice a bit cold too. Vegetables fresh, hot but needed more . The duck meat was boney and not much duck meat or select pieces. Char sui was salty , few pieces. The pork belly was very good and needed more. I didn't compare my combo picture with the one I saw from 1 year ago and mine looks 1/2 the quantity of meat and vegetable.. the pic last year displays beefy pieces vs. my meat that looks like my animals are starved before preparing for my plating. I understand inflation reduced portions , but I would rather have last year's picture at a higher price. The pan fried dumplings not impressed as had much better elsewhere. These were too doughy and not a nice flavor or texture. I didn't see anything to be impressed with my dining outing and nothing to be offended by with either except boney malnourished duck pieces of cold meat . Other noodle dishes, rice dishes I saw other diners order were fresh hot and definitely appealing, abundant and worthy to try. Maybe the combo was a bad choice and a just a hot duck dish may have been better option here... clearly the hanging food was freshly prepared. Prices were fair , my waitress , server very pleasant , clean restaurant and no issues with that. I might look to try the hot duck at the other locations with a bit better expectations for ambiance and conversational luncheon environment. The baked egg custard pastry, creme coffee sponge cakes after for desert were excellent from bakery down the street.

We came for a family dinner and of course Grandma Ding was with us in her wheelchair. We only smashed into a few chairs in the big, crowded dining room. And fortunately other customers were understanding while the staff was helpful and accommodating. The small, curious child running around the dining room without parental supervision didn't get hurt when I ran him over. The menu was huge so it took a long time to order with Grandma asking questions about every item. I could see that the waitstaff was used to quick orders and rapid food delivery to the table, but the waiter remained kind and patient. He also repeated his answers loudly when she couldn't understand his English and because she didn't have her hearing aides turned up. We finally ordered a giant wonton soup, eggplant with garlic sauce, a shrimp dish, and orange chicken; all to share. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. Grandma Ding did have to ask for the soup to be heated up because she likes it to be scalding. The dining room is worn and dishes were flying in and out as items were served and cleared. It's definitely a place for family meals, not one for an engagement proposal or romance. Perfect for our evening. Portions are generous and prices competitive with other restaurants in the area. Parking on the street is the only difficulty, particularly when you have a nonagenarian to get into the restaurant. We will definitely be back.
