Penn fried dumplings in Hong Kong rolled flat rice noodles with peanut sauce, soy sauce, and sesame seeds

What a little gem tucked on the corner on Harrison Street in Chinatown. Cash only so be prepared but totally worth it and very economical. Hong Kong Street Food Classics. Affordable authentic comfort food that will round out your day in Boston

Another day, another lunch at Ding Ho! Super friendly service. Love the ladies that works there. Always greeting me with a smile. Love their vermicelli noodles and curry chicken. I hope they incorporate another dish or something. That would be really good for business!

So glad to find this place during my recent trip to Boston. They open at 8am daily but closed on Sundays My go-to was their Hong Kong Cheung Fun (Rice Noodle Rolls). These noodles are thick, bouncy and soft and smothered in a mix sesame/peanut butter/soy/hoisin sauces. I can't get this in Florida so this was a treat, and it was inexpensive at $2.50 for a generous portion. We also had to get their dumplings to eat along side with vinegar sauce, these are $1/piece! This is a takeout place only, the inside has enough room for just a line of up to maybe 6 people. There are 3 seats outside though for a quick eat and run. This place is a gem, nothing fancy, just cheap and tasty eats. The lady behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. Come by here for atleast those 2 items, you won't be disappointed.

Hot and sour soup was banging! I searched everywhere for a good soup and this hit the spot! Quick service and the lady was super friendly

Update: the large take-out box is now $7. The box itself is marginally smaller, and they don't pile food up until the box can barely open anymore. They still give a decent quantity of food, so it is still extreme value.

Ding Ho feels like a blast from the past - a tiny restaurant on the corner of Chinatown with some crazy cheap prices and huge portions of fried chinese takeout. I visited on a weekday for lunch and left with takeout containers in-hand about 2 minutes later. The woman working the front counter was nice and friendly, offering me some vinegar and sriracha topping for my food. I ended up ordering some dumplings and vegetable lo mein, both which could easily feed 2 people for less than $10. The food itself was tasty and filling, and I especially enjoyed the dumplings which were clearly not pre-frozen. I'll definitely be back for some more cheap eats!

    rice rolls

fresh rice rolls only for 3.50, super delicious and can choose to add spicy or not. went a second time on my last day of my trip. service was quick and fast

Just like other reviewers have mentioned - come here for the huge portions of standard Chinese food. We were there early morning so the veggie options were not ready. I see them preparing tofu in the open kitchen. We opted for a large box with onion chicken and curry chicken. The steamed rice noodles and dumplings were delicious. Service quick. They were generous with soy sauce and peanut sauce. No seating. To go only.

    Rice noodle rolls and dumplings

Wow wow wow! Didn't know what to expect and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Delicious and affordable

The lady serving the food was kind and allowed us to get rice noodle instead of the other main options. We also asked for some broccoli, which she was more than happy to give us. If you can order in chinese, definitely do so! There is no place to sit down, there is just a counter where they serve you the food. The food was delicious The large plates are now $6 but STILL SO WORTH IT. Make sure you ask for the sriracha, peanut sauce, and soy sauce. The combination of the flavors with the rice noodles is absolutely delightful.

Does this place have a cash register and do they give receipts? I need it for work purposes when I get a meal

They have a register but not one that appears to be functioning other than holding cash. I'm sure they can scribble something for you but would it be sufficient for reimbursement?

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

They come out piping hot and fresh, and can kind of be hazardous if you bite into them too quickly and cause the soup to spurt out. I don't think I've had better ones in the states! In fact, even in Shanghai, it's kind of hard to find good ones sometimes (at least ones that serve them all day and not just for breakfast). It's more of a takeout place as it's rather small, but the interior is clean and bright.

Beef and tripe was very well seasoned and no weird taste at all. The duck blood is the best duck blood in Boston, very tender and delicious. The cost of the dishes surprisingly a little bit cheaper than other restaurants. Even though the restaurant was super super busy, a lot of people waiting for a seat, and there was only one server, a very friendly man, we had water refilled and all the dishes arrived quickly. The service was great. Because the food was so good, many people willing to wait for a seat. I love the small busy restaurant kind of ambience. I will definitely go back soon!

Limited street parking out front, but there are more street metered parking on the side street (next to the green line). The restaurant is much smaller than the Weymouth location, and the menu selection is also different. The server asked me to scan the QR code on the table for the menu, so I'm not sure if they have a paper menu. You can place the order directly via the QR code. I requested one dish to be non-spicy, and they were able to accommodate that. The only thing was that both dishes were a little bit too salty than my liking. I came here during a weekday lunch, and it wasn't super busy. I would return again.

Our server was attentive and replenished our water for the table as soon as they were empty without our even asking. Food 5/5: every dish we ordered represented Sichuan flavors well, especially the spiciness of it! Our favorites were the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, with the chengdu dry hot chicken and the string beans. The braised beef with Napa cabbage and mapo tofu were also delicious. Ambience 3/5: super loud. It wasn't even the music, it was that people's conversations were bouncing off the walls in a small space such that it was not possible to hear the other people in my group except who I was sitting next to. I saw several dates there and hopefully they could hear each other ok. Drinks: 2/5 overpriced and disappointing. My Negroni was ok but my husband's Manhattan tasted watery like it had been shaken instead of stirred and the melon highball tastes medicine-y. Overall a good experience because we were hungry and the food was amazing. We made up for not hearing each other well by taking an evening stroll and talking as we walked.

I read somewhere that they changed over their staff and completely obliterated their previous (awesome!) cocktail program. Our server confirmed that last November they started a new cocktail menu. We ordered our standard Trader Vic's Mai Tai (not listed on the new menu) and sent it back as it was undrinkable--super sweet with an off-putting after taste. And the interior has changed, too. Lights in the dining room are much brighter, the inclusive flag is no longer in the front window, and the funky art in the bathrooms is gone. The management or something else is definitely different. The food was hit or miss. The sauce was overly thickened glop in both the chicken with garlic and the peppercorn beef special. Saving grace was our server who was apologetic and helpful.
