Just got the Hong Kong milk tea with the steaming kettle on top and it was SO good!! I wasn't sure if it would be gimmicky with all the social media around it, but the quality of the milk tea is really good and so smooth and very reasonably priced. Would totally come back here. The space is small and nearly all the tables were filled even on a snowy weekend afternoon!
Came here just for the teapot drink! Super cheap and Instagram worth! It also tasted so good and had a short wait! They had plenty of seating if you wanted to order food also! Definitely coming back for food the next time!
Jibei Chuan is nicely settled in the middle of Chinatown and we always walked by it wanting to try. We finally made it in and were really excited to try the golden broth as we haven't found this offered in other places. Boy am I glad we did. The broth is a mix between a nice comforting savory soup with a bit of pickled spice flavor. It was perfect with the beef and fish fillet. Those meat were cooked perfectly by the way. I was very impressed with how tender the beef slices were, and the fish fillet was velvety! We were able to share a bowl as the portion was large and for just around $20 with the extra meat we got! The only critique was that it was a bit too cold in the restaurant and they needed to warm it up a bit as the soup started to get cold. The service was quick, and I enjoyed the interior decoration. I can't believe we waited so long to try this place but we will be back soon enough!
Came here spontaneously on a Saturday around 1pm and there were only three tables occupied. The two of us ordered the Minced Meat Dried Rice Noodles and Mini Soup Dumplings. The noodles came out not too long after and were exactly what I was craving. It had a little bit of spice but you could still appreciate the taste without being in too much pain. The soup dumplings came out after and were the perfect texture. Overall I was really satisfied with my meal and would definitely come back.
Jibei Chuan is a rice noodle establishment. While they have other dishes, they are primarily known for their various rice noodle soups. The portion sizes are decently large, which means that you may have leftovers. I ordered the tomato ground beef noodle soup, and I had enough left for a small meal to go.
I normally order via a delivery app like Uber eats and everything always comes on time and packaged nicely. My favorite item here is actually the tomato and egg dish -- it has the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity and just feels so comforting. The noodles are fine but lack a bit of flavor in my opinion. When dining in, service is very direct and to the point but things are clean and food comes pretty fast.
I stopped by for a rather late dinner after a long day; Jibei Chuan was one of the few options open in the area around 9-10pm. There were actually a couple of other tables when I got there, but there were plenty of seats for me to take. While I was eating, they had a lot of people come by to pick up takeout orders - definitely busier than I'd expect at this hour. I ordered the tonkotsu soup with fatty beef (原湯肥牛米粉). The noodles were quite yummy, generally chewy without being too hard. The fatty beef was a bit overcooked (hard to chew) - the flavour was OK albeit a bit bland and salty. The lettuce was a bit annoying to eat since most of it was just the stems of the lettuce that was hard to chew through. The other ingredients like wood ear and onions were pretty average, and I also think they were lacking in some of the other ingredients typical for guoqiao rice noodles 過橋米線. I've been to another location of Jibei Chuan in NYC many times before so I figured it would be roughly similar, but it seems their menu and noodle bowls are actually quite different (this place seems to be more generic 米粉 rice noodles, not quite the specific guogiao rice noodles that the NYC locations have). The portion size was quite filling, and the price point was as expected (~$18 in total), which is pretty good value in today's restaurant environment. Overall, pretty good but nothing special. I think I'd prefer going to Shimiaodao or something for rice noodles if I'm in the area.
Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner and the place was relatively empty at around 6:30. This was convenient as we were seated quickly and served pretty fast as well so service was pretty solid overall. The place felt really clean and the ambiance was on a the trendier, modern side. The noodles were really well-cooked in my opinion - I enjoyed the texture and the taste of the broth overall. Flavorful without tasting too overwhelming in any capacity. I wouldn't mind coming back for sure if I'm ever in the area - decent noodles, good service, not a bad price. Very central location in Chinatown as well so convenient to vet to as well!
I was excited to try a new restaurant during my time in Chinatown. I tried this place and wanted to try something I don't see so often so I chose to have the tomato soup w/ beef. The dish was definitely a different experience than what I usually go for. The soup has a very strong tomato taste which I typically love however with this dish it felt different. The noodles were very soft and had an almost spaghetti texture which I haven't had before. The beef and vegetables were delicious, but the slices of tomato were an interesting mix to the dish. Overall, I felt like the combination of the spaghetti noodles, tomato soup with the tomato slices just felt off to me. It had me wishing I tried another dish. 5/10 The shrimp skewers were also pretty standard, nothing out of this world, however the image on the menu is completely different to the actual dish they give you. The menu also states it provides spicy mayo as the sauce for the shrimp but that wasn't the case for me. 5/10
Ji Bei Chuan is a rapidly expanding rice noodle chain that started in China in 2018 (their website boasts over 400 restaurants there already) and has more recently expanded stateside, primarily in NY and CT. This small, bright place on Beach st is their first Boston foray and opened about a year ago. I popped in with my daughter and a friend and we were very impressed. --Sesame garlic noodles with tofu, very flavorful, medium heat from red chilis, this dish was my favorite. --Pork katsu curry, panko encrusted, crispy, tender pork, with a comforting curry sauce (not too spicy), and rice, delicious. --Signature JBC chicken noodle soup was a bit bland for me, it benefited from adding table side condiments like vinegar and soy sauce, but it is wholesome with plenty of Napa cabbage, black fungus, and chicken cubes on bone. --Brown sugar rice cakes were swoon worthy, hot deep-fried packets of chewy mochi served with brown sugar and ground peanut. Also the atmosphere is fun, bright, lively, good music, and nice staff. I look forward to returning.
Pleasantly surprised by the tasty food, we went in not knowing what to order or expect. Highly Recommend checking it out if you're in Chinatown. See pics for deliciousness!
Since my last visit, the Golden Spicy & Sour Rice Noodle Soup w/Fish noodle soup has experienced a downgrade. The fish is now mundane tilapia fillets rather than the slightly springy fish maw. The soup is also noticeably less spicy. The price has not changed, still at $15.
I've been here a couple times and it's one of my go to noodle places in Chinatown. It's very clean inside and there is a good amount of seating. They utilize the chowbus app which is really cool - you scan a QR code at the table and it will send a note to the kitchen and the staff will bring your food out in a couple minutes. At the end of the meal, you can scan the QR code again to check out and someone will come to your table and process your payment. The most recent dish I ordered was the pickled mustard soup with the intestines and that's probably my favorite dish of all the noodles I've tried. The soup is tangy and savory with a lot of different textures in the bowl with the noodles vegetables, and the intestine. For ~13 dollars this was a lot of food which is nice. There were other noodle soups I got before that didn't have as much flavor and was more on the watery side. Another item I tried was the brown sugar rice cakes. That was a great dessert at the end of the meal. The rice cakes are fried so they're crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They're also topped with brown sugar and soybean powder which adds a nuttiness to the dish.
Second time and I needed to get my fix of Cold Milk Tea! with my Steaming Ceramic Tea Pot on top! Such a great idea to bring in customers that not only want a refreshing tasty drink but also be entertaining to see the Smoking Tea Pot! Friendly atmosphere and super clean and nicely designed! Great for walk in service like us or sit down and dine! read more
I like their large bowls of noodle soups, especially the signature chicken noodle soup. They also have hot food Hong Kong style. You can easily order via QR code or through the server. I like that there's pictures for all the items. It's a small spot but great for quick bite. Food comes out quickly. read more
Hadn't heard of this place until the steaming teapot started making waves on social media. Came here with friends so we could try it out. Interior is well-decorated and reasonably sized. No wait as we went around 5:30pm on a weekday and service was quick. I ordered the shrimp and eggs over rice with the tomato and loved it although I have to admit, it's a hard dish to mess up. Peak Asian comfort food and it was a good portion for the price. Also had to get the milk tea with the steaming teapot. I didn't have any expectations for the tea itself as I was just there for the little ornament but was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the Hong Kong milk tea. Will definitely be back in the future to try more menu items, particularly the noodles. read more

Newer soup joint in Chinatown. We ordered the golden pickled fish soup, the chicken noodle soup with fish belly and chicken with wood-ear mushrooms. This place is known for their healing broth, and I have to say, I definitely felt energized after eating the pickled soup. Is it a very unique & tangy broth with white fish, spicy peppers, herbs & raw garlic. I felt like this soup activated a part of my brain because I felt a tingling feeling above my eyes! It could have been the raw garlic. Regardless, I've never eaten a soup like that before and I highly recommend to those who are looking to try new foods and explore new tastes. We also had the chicken noodle soup with fish belly. It was the first time I tried that ingredient before. It's supposed to be very good for your skin. It's not the most appetizing texture, but it's ok. The chicken in both the soup and dish were good but very boney. Be careful when you chew because you will find bits of bone in these small cuts. The benefit of that is a really tasty broth. The lady who took our order was friendly and gave recommendations based on what we wanted to eat. And the table setting is pretty basic, but comfortable. The wallpaper is really cute, which gives a modern aesthetic. Each soup was about $20, and the chicken dish was around $15. read more

4.5/5! Service is quick, and the servers are nice. BOTH savory and sweet dishes are great! I thought the broth (both fish maw and mala) had a lot of umami and seasoning, and the chicken meat was tender. The beef meat for the mala noodle soup didn't taste the best quality, and the noodles were just okay. But overall would come back for the desserts (already did!!) and fish maw noodle soup! read more

Accidentally stumbled upon a great restaurant. My friend and I made a last minute decision to eat here and we were not disappointed. We started with the takoyaki and fried buns as appetizers. The takoyaki was flavorful, crispy, and cooked to perfection. On the other hand, the buns had a delicious contrast in texture: you get a crunch followed by the softest, most cloud like bun to pair with the smooth condensed milk. As we cleaned up our appetizers, our noodle soups arrived and took the spotlight. Both soups were flavored deliciously, although I did wish the pickled mustard soup was a bit more sour. The tomato soup was a good balance of salty and sweet, and paired well with all the toppings in the bowl. Overall, it was a meal that made our stomachs happy. The service was quick and friendly, and the place is very clean. If you're not sure what to eat and you want some good soup, come check this place out. read more
My family and I came to Jibei Chuan for dinner and were seated promptly. There is a QR code on the table where you can scan and place your order. We ordered Fried Crispy Pork, Tomato Soup w/ Beef, Golden Soup w/ Beef, and Pickled Mustard Soup w/ Pork Intestines. The fried crispy pork was not good at all. There was basically no meat as it was only dry, hard, and flavorless. Although there were spices on the bottom of the bowl, the meat itself had no flavor. Out of all the broths, the golden soup was the best. It was flavorful without being too overpowering. For those who prefer a more acidic taste to their broth, the tomato soup is not bad. I found the pickled mustard soup a bit lacking as well. The pork intestines were pretty good, but the beef was a bit mediocre. They did not have much flavoring. I did enjoy the number of vegetables and mushrooms present throughout the dish. I think the dishes could use more noodles personally, but the meal was not bad overall. Service was okay, but I could have used more water refills as it was relatively warm inside the restaurant. I will come back if I am craving a hearty bowl of rice noodles. read more
tldr: bomb bowl of noodles Big fan of any place that serves a homey bowl of noodles and this place nails it. Really loved how soft and delicious the fish meat was. I've only had two dishes here but both were excellent. Looking forward to exploring more! The inside is also nicely redone. Has a clean slightly retro look that is well lit. read more

My co-worker and I stopped by Jibei Chuan in Boston's Chinatown for lunch, and based on my own experience it was OK, I can see why. I recently dined there and ordered the Soup Dumplings and Pickle Intestine Soup, both of which were described as shown. Tasted pretty standard, I was expecting more flavorful. The meats texture seemed like it has been there for a while. Pickle flavor of the soup was spot on but orf course that's preference. The service was attentive, and the restaurant itself had a clean and welcoming atmosphere for Chinatown. While I only sampled two dishes but there are plenty more to check out. Jibei Chuan offered a wide range of delicious options with a picture menu from the QR code. Soup was around $15-18 just for lunch, so it was on the pricey side. Would try again to give it a second go. read more
This is such a great place for a huge bowl of hot soup with chewy, springy rice noodles! You order using the QR codes at the table and the food comes out super quickly. You pay at the counter after your meal so everything is efficient. The servers are quick to refill your water cups. Most of their noodle soups are in the $12-16 range which is a great deal for the volume you get. They have all sorts of soup bases that come with the same thick rice noodles you'd find in bun bo hue. Their golden spicy and sour soup has a rich broth that has a kick to it. My favorite is their Sichuan hot and spicy soup which is super fragrant! Their appetizers/side dishes are also great. The black fungus and vinegar dish is packed with garlic! Each noodle dish has a generous portion of noodles and soup. I wouldn't say that the meat portion is that big, but you do get enough. There aren't too many veggies in the noodle soup so it doesn't seem like you are being cheated with a bowl full of vegetables. Most of the noodle soups have varying protein options (beef, pork, fish, vegetarian, etc) and they also have rice dishes and dry noodles. It seems that they have a lot of stewed meats too. read more

I naturally gravitate towards noodles. So when this spot opened, I had to try it out! I was not disappointed with the portions for sure. I like the simplicity of being able to order via the QR code and the menu has photos so you know what you are getting. The flavors are perfect for a cold day and the noodles are perfect for slurping. The flavors have all been really good and its just that simple broth that just warms your whole body. I do prefer the soupy noodles a little more since the broth is so good but if you don't want hot soup, the dry noodles are also pretty good - the meat super tender! I have also ordered this for takeout and even then they also travel well! There are a bunch of other items on the menu that I will definitely be back to try. read more
YUM! If you want a huge bowl of noodle soup this is the place for you. I'm a huge fan of tomato soup and liked the sweet subtle flavor of the soup. For people who want more spicy and numbing taste, they have soup for that too- my friend got it and said it hit the spot. The noodles were really slippery lol they kinda tasted like spaghetti noodles. But still a great dish overall. Shrimp skewers, cucumber salad, mushroom fungus salad all delish and great for sharing. Would come back again. read more

Jibeichuan is a mainland Chinese rice noodle restaurant that just opened up in Chinatown. The interior is bright and clean. My husband and I came after work on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately. There were three other parties already seated and waiting for their food. There was only one person working the front the day we came. There is a QR code on the table for you to pull up the menu. You can place the order on your phone. Your order will prepared and the server will bring your order to your table when it is ready. You can order more after placing your initial order using the same platform. Each QR code is specific for the table. You can hear your order pinged at the front counter after you submit. There was quite a bit of appetizers on the menu that looked delicious, however, the one we wanted to try was not available so we decided to skip getting an appetizer with our meal. My husband ordered the rice noodle in the tomato broth with sliced beef tendon. It came with wood ear mushrooms, lettuce, and slices of fresh tomatoes. The tomato broth was hearty and my husband enjoyed it. For myself, I ordered the rice noodle with the pickled mustard soup and hog fat end. The hog fat end was fatty and not gamey. There were plenty of pickled mustard and ground pork pieces so each spoon of noodles, I was able to enjoy a bit of sourness from the pickled mustard. My noodles was garnished with a bit of wood ear mushroom, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Again, hearty broth with subtle flavors. Husband also tried a bit of my broth and the high end and also liked the broth flavor. You can add a little chili oil for extra heat and change up the flavor profile. The chili oil are kept in little metal containers at the front counter. Overall, we enjoyed our quick simple meal. No complaint on service. You can check out using the QR. I think this is a great place to go to try a nice hot bowl of rice noodle with a light broth flavor whether you go alone or with a small group of friends. See my pictures. read more

An amazing new noodle place in Chinatown that was recommended to me through Yelp's new spots. I ordered the fresh mushroom noodle soup for pickup and loved the packaging and reusable bag that it came in. It was packed well and the noodles and veggies were separated from the soup, so it wouldn't be soggy. It's a filling portion with lots of noodles and different types of mushrooms. The noodles were soft and the warm broth was perfect for a chilly day. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and will definitely be back to try out their other noodle dishes. read more

I got the noodle soup and the curry fish ball. The noodle soup is good but the curry fish ball is not good. Is not bouncy and does not have the curry spice flavor. Is very not good so I would not bother getting it. Also I spill some on the table and the worker clean it up and asked me if I still wants it. I said that I want to get it replace. They should not ask and just offer to give me what I had drop on the table. read more

Just down the block from the block from the Chinatown gate entrance is this relatively new establishment: Jibeichuan. On a cold day, my friends and I were craving some warm soup and couldn't decide on where to go, but ended up in front of this restaurant: a worthwhile decision. On a Friday night, the place was pretty crowded, but luckily for us a table opened up pretty quickly. We were seated with menus in hand. However, if you wanted, there's a QR code on the table where you can view the menu and order. I decided on the original bone rice noodle soup with minced meat (as did my other friend), and another got the Fish maw soup. For those who are unfamiliar with Yunnan cuisine/rice noodles they are a staple dish in Yunnan that is meant to be a simple comfort dish. If you were expecting a broth thick like ramen, this isn't for you. My soup, as pictured came with minced meat, mushroom (fungus), cabbage, and fried chickpeas. I will say that I absolutely love fried chickpeas and they flavored the soup so well. I also asked for chili oil (my personal preference), but the soup is great on its own. It's a relatively large portion for a good price ($12). I will say that this spot is down the block from the other Yunnan rice noodle spot (10 seconds..). I can't really compare the two given that I've only had takeout from the other spot. Solid spot to grab a warm bowl of noodles! read more
