Excellent barbecue in Boston . This visit was another visit for bbq and consistent with my prior visits. Great beer selection and highest one's own draft. The Robot crusher IPA, widow maker IPA were successful selection among my local brewers... night shift for one. Meal combos could be a bit more extensive. Meat and two was a single meat and two sides. I ordered this with ribs, Mac and cheese, beans. It comes with bread, pickles, pickled onions. I needed my smoked turkey , smoked brisket as I've had here, so can order a 1/4 or 1/2 lb of each. I ordered a 1/4 lb of each knowing leftover was to be the lunch sandwich tomorrow. Well, the beans were fantastic with chucks of brisket mixed in... best beans I've had at all the bbq places in Massachusetts and beyond . Mac and cheese very good, but I needed a multi cheese cork screw pasta blend like another spot ... excellent Mac and cheese still The ribs in the meat combo order were a hefty portion and meat fall off bones, perfect smoke, not salty meat... excellent. The 1/4 brisket was fall apart tender; excellent flavor, not dry, nice smoke flavor, not fatty and maybe a bit more fat maybe how others like. Excellent brisket and remains went into my baked beans cup for lunch tomorrow. Smoked turkey was tender, excellent flavors and I only order the smoked turkey here as other places serve it too dry... this was real deal . Choices of 3-4 bbq sauces, I plated all 4 and mixed, and used all four... I would have liked a far different one to provide a greater range ... a berry based sauce I had elsewhere would be the bomb on this turkey . Bread I would like to see replaced with a slice cornbread cinnamon buttered, pickled onions I don't need, pickles ok but a slaw cumber mix instead would be better ... Nice vibes with pickle ball courts, families, private parties here. Brews and Que all great here... the smoked wings look great and tough to order those and pass on a turkey or brisket side order... My only complaint is the ridiculously uncomfortable bar chairs... you need a chiropractor after sitting too long... doesn't promote people wanting to stay long... change these out ... few hundred bucks for padded seats with a comfortable arch and back... Firefly's bbq in Marlborough had best comfort vat seats in Massachusetts... send the manager up there to try one on his buttocks vs. this metal basement stool type from IKEA discount furniture. read more

I picked Pig Beach BBQ because it was ranked #4 for BBQ and had the fastest delivery time. I'm glad to say they definitely delivered on speed. My food arrived in about 20 minutes or less, which was impressive. I ordered the Meat & 2 (6 bone ribs) with collard greens, mac and cheese, cornbread, chocolate pecan pie, and added the Mustard BBQ, Rob's Righteous Red, and Tangy Vinegar sauces. Starting with the ribs, they had great flavor and were tender, but unfortunately they arrived cold. There was also quite a bit of juice from the onions and pickles pooled in the tray, which may have contributed to the temperature. It's hard to give them a full thumbs up because temperature matters with BBQ. The mac and cheese was very bland and just wasn't for me. The cornbread also missed the mark. Surprisingly, the complimentary white bread with the house whipped butter completely stole the show. It was incredibly soft, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The chocolate pecan pie wasn't what I expected. It was more like a brownie than a pie, especially for an $8 dessert. I took one bite and set it aside. I really wanted to love it, but it was just too sweet for my taste, and I didn't have a glass of milk to help. Now for the star of the meal. The collard greens. WOW! They were absolutely AMAZING. They were piping hot, perfectly seasoned, and packed with little bits of meat. I didn't even feel the need to add vinegar or hot sauce, which almost never happens for me. Honestly, if I could trade everything else in my order for a giant bowl of those greens, plus the complimentary bread and whipped butter, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Those greens alone are worth coming back for. The sauces weren't really my style, but I'm glad I tried them. Overall, I left full but a little disappointed with most of the meal. Delicious BBQ but even better service. All the proteins in the BBQ Sampler were succulent and flavorful. My favs were either the brisket or the ribs. The BBQ Tater Tots had an amazing seasoning and were absolutely delicious. The leftovers will easily last a few meals! Only caveat was some of the meats were warm and not hot. It's cool how they mashed up a pickleball club and a BBQ joint (I guess, do the former and then eat at the latter haha). They serve BBQ (and BBQ sauces) from many different regions of the US. Nice decor and music choice too. What stood out the most though, was the hospitality. They gave a free BBQ Popcorn sampler, which was seasoned with the same amazing seasoning as the Tater Tots. OMG... The wings, Get them... Get 200 of them (I did) Seriously... We had a team bldg event at PKL and we had a giant spread of food, Wings, Pretzels, Stuffed Mushrooms, lots of things, and the wings were soooo good that I literally ordered about 48 to take home. The dry rub was INSANE... All the food was great. The vibe here is great and you are able to go eat without even picking up a game of Pickleball, but its a fun, open bar area and I hear the vibe is great on a Saturday night. Hands down the best barbecue in Boston. Meltiest brisket I've ever had, creamy Mac n Cheese, even the turkey is tasty. Inventive side dishes, seasoned chips excellent. And the sauces, all unique, complementary, and delicious. And holds up well to delivery too. My only minor critique is the desert options could use a peach and/or banana option. And ironically the ribs were not my favorite item here. That's the one dish here that maybe you'd enjoy more somewhere else. I've had it twice and it was a bit on the tough side for my liking. We ordered through Door Dash and we do not believe that affected the food quality as it arrived very quickly from nearby and was hot. We chose this place based on reviews and awards. My husband is a Nashville native and we spend a significant amount of time in GA and SC. That being said did not find this to be a repeat visit candidate. The brisket was dry and barely spiced. It was lean however. The baked beans were excellent as was the vinegar based slaw. The pickles and pickled onions were a nice side. We were a bit baffled by the side of grocery store bread and expected corn bread. We also got key like pie which was a huge hit with the hubs - although a tiny piece for the price but hey it's Boston. Me and my wife had lunch here at this restaurant. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by front staff. The staff were friendly and helpful. My wife ordered fried chicken sandwich with the seasoned tater tots. She loved the fried chicken sandwich and the tater tots. She said the chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. She loved the sauce on the sandwich and the tater tots were seasoned very well. I ordered the brisket Philly cheesesteak and potato chips with bbq seasoning. The meat was bbq to perfection and seasoned well. The taste was amazing and the cheese with the veggies and the soft roll was phenomenal. The chips were fresh and delicious. Literally so good! Our favorite has to be the 1/2 rack of ribs! The flavor was perfect and meat was fall off the bone tender. AND you've gotta get their wings, I'm not even remotely joking, they're bomb! I'm not usually a fan of dry rub, HOWEVER, the hot honey dry rub & the lemon pepper wings were absolute GAS! PHE-NOMENAL!!! We didn't get to enjoy this place for all it's worth but food and drinks was off the charts!! Definitely one of the best burgers I've had in Boston and all ovah the country! The smoked wings were also deeeee-lishh-usssss!!! Daughters loved her platter and the wife was a huge fan of the collards. They are so helpful in making recommendations. We got their award winning Smash Burger made with Wagyu beef and an addictive special sauce, BBQ Sampler, Wings, Mac n Cheese, and Baked Beans. Everything tasted amazing but that burger has legit captured my heart. I would come here just for their burger! I love their indoor pickleball court because now we can play all year round! Our ribs came out like warm / cold BUT the chef / owner? Pig Beach was such a fun experience. Not only do they serve high quality and delicous bbq dishes, you can book pickleball courts with PKL and play with your friends. It was my first time ever trying pickleball and it was so much fun. After having a nice exercise with pickleball, there was nothing better than to renergize with delicious bbq. The bar and seating area was spacious with big screen tvs to watch some sports while dining. The staff was very welcoming and have such great positive energy. My favorite was definitely the burger, the patty was cooked perfectly and it was topped with their delicious secret sauce. I would also recommend their bbq platter so you can try a bit of everything. Everything tasted so amazing and you can adjust the flavoring to your liking with their various sauces. I hate to do this but the quality of Pigs Beach has nosedived - that which has always been overpriced is now overpriced and not good. Quantity has always been tough here, but the service and quality of the food itself has become pitiful. Best way I can describe it is as Sysco BBQ - tastes and looks like something you could get at a college dining hall. Last two in-person visits felt like the hostess and server/bartender were miserable to see me there and topping that off with poor food just shuts me out. Purple coleslaw used to taste great - crunchy and flavorful, countering the BBQ's acidity - now it's a watery cup of soggy plant matter that I don't touch after 1 experimental bite. Tater tots and ribs used to taste FRESH and delicious - now seem more like they've been sitting under heat lamps for hours. Mac & Cheese with meat orders are a rip off - as are all of the sandwiches I've eaten- Philly Steak sandwich is a grilled cheese with a pinch of meat added, smashburger is a mess of low-quality beef and pulled pork sandwich is sized like it was made for a 5 year old, despite being priced around $15. Do they at least come with fries? No, pay extra for that. Can you get extra sauce with a sandwich on a to go order? No, pay extra for that. Speaking of to go; To-go sandwich orders used to come with napkins and a wet-nap - not anymore, so expect a mess if you're out and about. They used to have deals throughout the week - last in-person visit we find out while seated that one of those deals is no more - so the whole reason we came is gone. Manager could have honored the deal - waitress had to go check to see if it was still in-place or cancelled - but instead chose to let us know while seated that it's over as of that day. No social media post giving a heads up prior to or on that day either. I used to love this place - brought various groups of friends, my parents and more to eat and drink here but I can't even be bothered to go myself anymore, even after a big payday when money's no focus. It's not worth it to be treated coldly and served overpriced slop. I'll drive out of the city to get better BBQ - the time to drive is more than worth it when Pigs quality is at where it is at today.
