Strawberry water, just strawberry flavored syrup in water.

Bruh, I gotta stop trusting things that claim to be good in the name. This was the biggest misrepresentation of this place. I had the tasty 3. Order 3 meats and two sides. I got Chunk brisket, ribs, and pulled chicken. My sides were collard greens and baked beans and did a side order or Mac and cheese. It was delivery but don't think that makes a difference. So 1 a side order is 5$ they put the Mac and cheese on my plate and no collard greens and I was still charged for the side. The baked beans taste more like chili beans and if you like southern bbq you know how disappointing this must be. The Mac and Cheese has a weird cooked cheese wiz taste. My meats. Can't tell you what that tasted like. They mixed it all in one. All on top of eachother, You couldn't tell what was what except the rib which was ok. They didn't add bbq sauce to any of it. So luckily I had some at home. I ordered a strawberry lemonade which honestly tasted like strawberry syrup in water. Waste of money, I couldn't continue eating it, killed my whole appetite

Got pick-up from here. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The beef brisket platter was FANTASTIC, even after I reheated it. It was super juicy, tender, and flavorful. The mac & cheese I got on the side was also delicious - perfectly creamy and topped with crispy bread crumbs. I also got steamed broccoli, which was solid. My platter (1 meat, 2 sides) was around $13, not bad considering how much food there was! My boyfriend got the pulled chicken platter. It wasn't bad, but the beef brisket was much better. Cherry on top? They offer a variety of sauces you can take to-go! I'll definitely be back.

The food was great. I ordered Crispy Pork Belly with fries. It was unbelievably good. I split it into two meals.

Chopped brisket (tasty but fatty), pork ribs (tender but salty), mac and cheese (gritty, not creamy), and collard greens.

First of all, set your expectations as this is BBQ in a mall food court. That said, the staff was friendly and helpful, but the food was about what you'd expect. If you think 80/20 beef is way too lean, this may be the place for you. The pork ribs and chopped brisket were both very tender...fall off the bone ribs, not competition BBQ. Unfortunately, the chopped brisket was too fatty and the rub on the ribs was overly salty. The mac and cheese was gritty, but the greens were pretty decent. The portions were fair, and nothing was bad, but I gave it a try due to a Groupon and it's not likely food that I'd return for given other options in the area.

    Pulled chicken sandwich !

Pulled chicken is good, love the toasted roll , love the potato salad and BBQ beans all on point !

If you're looking to go for brunch be advised that you should make a reservation ahead of time. I did a walk-in and had to sit at the bar. The bar isn't too bad. But if you're someone like me, (6'2 280lbs) it could be a little tight. At the bar, Dillon and Ricardo were amazing! They were very attentive as soon as I sat down. I was handed the menu with a glass of water. After looking over the menu they took my order. I ordered the New Orleans coffee. Good drink. A little on the sweet side but had a lot of alcohol! To start I had the tater tots. Pretty basic but it had a good seasoning to you! Not just salt and pepper! For the main dishes we had the Southern fried chicken sliders. It was a nice sweet and spicy blend. Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick to you! Also we got the chicken and waffles. As soon as we gave the menu back to them, not even 10 minutes later the food was at our spots. Piping hot and fresh. Mind you, the place was packed! So I'm not mad at that! The chicken thighs were seasoned well and juicy! The only thing I didn't like, was the waffle was kind of soggy and thin. Not like a Belgium waffle that is thick and crispy. But still, not bad. I would recommend trying them out but make reservations for a table.

The ambiance is now cozy but lively, the kind of place that hums with energy without feeling chaotic. Warm lighting, upbeat vibes, and a crowd that looks like they *know* they picked the right spot for the night. SERVICE: deserves a serious shoutout. Our server, Albina, was professional, warm, and genuinely attentive, the kind of service that elevates the entire experience without ever being intrusive. Drinks stayed filled, timing between courses was smooth, and the rest of the staff moved like a well-coordinated team. You could tell they take pride in what they're doing. FOOD: Now let's talk food, because this is where Bootleg Special really flexes. We kicked things off with the Beef Birria Bao and Truffle Steak Tataki and wow. The Asian-Louisiana fusion is bold and surprisingly seamless. The bao was soft and pillowy, packed with deeply flavorful meat and veggies that worked beautifully together. The truffle steak tataki? So tender and delicious that I realized halfway through I was eating it too fast to fully analyze it -- always a good sign. For mains, the Squid Ink Fried Rice and Vodka Cajun Chicken absolutely delivered. If fried rice is on the menu, THIS is how it should be done: creamy, rich, deeply flavorful, with scallops cooked to perfection. The vodka Cajun chicken was equally impressive -- thin, crispy breading with juicy chicken underneath and a sauce that hits that perfect creamy-spicy balance. And then... BEIGNETS Soft, pillowy, and basically melting in your mouth. A flawless way to end the meal. One thing I loved seeing was both owners walking the floor, blending right in with their staff. If you didn't know they were the owners, you'd never guess -- which says a lot about the culture here. Steve was attentive, kind, and clearly invested in both the guests and his team. All around, this was a fantastic experience, from service to ambiance to food. I'm genuinely happy we came back, and Bootleg Special has officially earned its spot back in my regular rotation. Can't wait to return.

As someone who loves New Orleans food, I know good gumbo, and Lambo truly gets it. Every bite was packed with meat, bold flavor, and soul. Starting with the positives, the vibe is fantastic--it's a classy take on Southern charm, with wood panels everywhere that really enhance the country feel. The country music playing in the background added to the welcoming, relaxed ambiance, making it a great spot to unwind. On the food side, I tried the Rice Bowl with BBQ pulled chicken. The chicken itself was moist and tender, but it could have benefited from trimming some of the excess fat and tendons. Unfortunately, the dish focused more on presentation than flavor, coming across as a bit bland overall. The gluten-free Kale Salad with regular pulled chicken was another miss for me; the kale had far too many tough stems, which detracted from the enjoyment. As for drinks, the Ginger Snap Mocktail sounded promising with its description hinting at spice, but it turned out overly sweet with no heat whatsoever--disappointing given the expectations set. Service during peak times felt rushed; the staff seemed prioritized on pushing orders to the kitchen rather than providing a warm introduction or attentive check-ins. The noise level was high, which is understandable for brunch, but it contributed to a less polished experience. In summary, Hunter Kitchen and Bar has a lot of potential with its charming decor and theme, but the food didn't quite deliver on taste or value, and the service could use more hospitality during busy periods. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars--worth a try for the atmosphere, but I might skip the food next time.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The almond biscuits had an overpowering almond flavor, and the flavor of plant-based protein was terrible! (Oh, this should have been a plus...)

The linguine was on the smaller side portion-wise, but it came loaded with mussels and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a nice tangy, flavorful profile that really stood out. The Salsiccia pizza was good--plenty of toppings for its size and a well-balanced amount of cheese and sauce. What kept it from being great, if I'm being a bit hyper critical, was the crust. It leaned too doughy and lacked the crispness and airy texture you'd expect; the closest comparison I can think of is something like an Olive Garden breadstick. Service was okay--nothing particularly impressionable--but the ambience made up for it. The space felt warm, trendy, and like the perfect spot for a casual dinner. Overall, a solid spot with well-executed dishes, especially the pasta, and a pizza that's definitely enjoyable with just a small detail holding it back from the next level.

The Mac was very gooey and cheesy. And the yams were excellent as well. I thought the texture of the yams was near perfect--not too hard but not too soft and mushy either. Also not overly sweet. I also felt like the price was very fair. A lot of times, similar entrees can cost near $30, but this was just over $20 which was super reasonable especially for the quality. Let's start with the "Jamaican" patties. These were not patties. They were empanada-style, lacking the flaky crust, seasoning, and depth you expect from a true Jamaican beef or chicken patty. At $5 each, that's not just disappointing--it feels misleading. Then the soul food. This is where it really fell apart. The chicken was dry, under-seasoned, and surprisingly small--more like an afterthought than a centerpiece. Soul food should be rich, flavorful, and comforting. This wasn't! The greens were another miss. No depth, no richness, and completely lacking the traditional pot liquor that gives them their signature flavor. It felt like a stripped-down version of what should be a staple dish. The only bright spot was the candied yams--they actually had flavor and were enjoyable. What's frustrating is the gap between reputation and experience. When a place has awards and hype, you expect authenticity, quality, and consistency. This didn't deliver on any of that. Overall, I wouldn't return. There are too many places doing this food the right way to spend money here again.
