Been here quite a few times since they opened. Generally ok, so every so often we crave fried chicken and/or teokbokki, this is the go-to. Good variety of flavors on the wings, also there are chicken sandwiches, gyoza, fries and stuff. That cheese fries, mmm, surprisingly good (it's powder, not the gooey type). Online order makes everything easier, esp for food that takes more time to prepare. Usually, 20-30 min is fair for made to order, even if you select ASAP. By the time you leave your computer and walk up, food is most likely ready unless they have a very busy day. A couple feedback: 1. website design - currently the "featured items" (ex. Sandwich Club Box or some name to that effect) are not also showing in the respective category, (ie. under "Sandwiches"). So if you move out of the Featured Items tab, you no longer know those items exist. It'll be helpful for Featured Items to show up in both places. 2. selection and quantity - currently, minimum order is 8 wing/$16, or 16 wings/$30. There is only one "half+half" option, with set flavors. Even 8 wings on one flavor is a bit much for one person. If there is an option of 4+4 wings with two customer-selected flavors, I might hit them up more often. read more

I had moderate to good expectations ordering from here based on other people's reviews, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The food was filling and had the intent of flavor, but the execution was lacking. The honey garlic wings did not taste very honey-garlicy, almost like they were missing half of the sauce they should have had. The chicken meat itself tasted like it was of decent quality and not dry but the amount of fried coating seemed excessive compared to the amount of meat. The sauce of the rose tteokbokki was creamy and had a back of the tongue/mouth spiciness. However, the texture of the tteok (rice cakes) was inconsistent- a few tasted very soft while others were on the undercooked side of chewy. I have gone to several Bbq olive chicken locations around the US and even in Korea and always know what to expect. This one was pretty busy even though they didn't have a lot of inside customers. We ordered the honey garlic boneless chicken to go. The music they played was great of you are a kpop fan! The chicken was sauced and heated nicely and the radish that comes with the chicken was tangy and crunchy. I ordered takeout via the official bb.q chicken website. My go to flavors are the Gangjeong, Gangnam, and Hot Mala. The chicken comes with a free side of pickled radish. I love the chicken here because it's super crispy and packed with tons of flavor from the marinade and sauce. Parking is hard to find since it's next to Boston Commons, but there is street parking available. It's cozy inside and they play K-pop music. I generally enjoy BBQ Chicken, but this location has some improvements to make. I'm taking off two stars because I showed up for pickup at the given time, but the food wasn't ready and I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. This was really inconvenient as the area is super busy with traffic so parking was tough. Moreover, I had an unexpired $5 coupon that I got from doing a survey, but the website would not accept it. Also, beware that they charge for extra sauce. I added for two ranches and they gave me 2 tiny containers and charged $2 each. Honestly every fried chicken should be a Korean fried chicken, from the frying method to the transport container, the chicken is never dry or soggy, even when I mobile order. Yes it's pretty expensive, around double the price per wing of traditional fried chicken but imo it's worth it every time. The rose tteokbokki... I have found that this dish varies quite a bit location to location. It's still good but the one from this location is definitely subpar. Some of the tteok texture were on the tougher side. And the sauce... was quite watery. Usually the the sauce is thick, and coats the tteokbokki, this one kind of just slid off like a soup. Regardless. Just off the fried chicken I don't think I could ever give bbq chicken a low rating. I've had my complaints with other franchises of this chain(service, ordering issues) but I just keep coming back. The cashiers were super helpful and choosing what to order. We decided on two small wings and the rice cakes +cheese. The rice cakes+cheese was so good!! It was flavorful, a little bit spicy and paired well with the cheese. The cheeseling wing was WAYYY too salty (don't get). We asked the cashier about it and they willingly exchanged it for a different flavor. The chef in the back delivered it to our table and told us that their corporation changed the recipe and he thought it was super salty too. Service was amazing and helpful. I've been ignoring this place for months, because my first mistake was looking at and believing Google's 3 1/2 star rating and not looking at my beloved Yelp. I stopped by on a whim and am absolutely delighted. Super fresh and crispy, the Secret Sauce is tasty and has a nice mild/medium spice level. I'd go for something spicier next time. Their pickled radish is far superior to Bon Chon's (come at me), and the coleslaw was perfectly creamy. An 8-pc boneless tenders + coleslaw came to $20 or so, which is great since that's both lunch and dinner for me. So glad I came by! Will be adding this to the roster. read more

Bad review is for the website's ordering system - Don't order on-line, even though the bb.q website encourages you to do so, as soon as you start to order on-line, the website forwards you over to GrubHub, which tacks on $2-$4 PER ITEM on top of what the menu items cost if you were to call your order in or order in person - this happens when you order for pick up and take out, not delivery. When I went to pick up my food, and saw I was charged $11 extra by GrubHub on a $52 order, when I asked why no one at the restaurant could explain it, and just said, always call in your order. Total scam on GrubHubs part and not a good sign that the restaurant goes along with it. The logic behind on-line orders for take out is to reduce the time your employees spend taking orders on the phone - charging your customers a 20% fee to in effect, NOT tie up the phones , will have the opposite effect ... We ordered takeout from here comprising their signature dish Rose Ddeok Bokki and golden original chicken wings. Both the preparations were great! Wings were crispy, fleshy, properly cooked, juicy, and flavorful to the core! I had the bokki for the first time and it was basically rice cakes and fish. The rice cakes are a bit too chewy for my taste but the fish was delicious! The bokki sauce was creamy and mouth watering!! The packaging the food came in was well designed too and nothing spilled. I can get a whole tray of wings raw for that price, but... I couldn't fry them this well. And the prices are in line with a KFC/Popeye's even though we don't have them in the city anymore. So, flavors. If you like spicy, choose a spicy option, if you don't really like heat, I suggest you skip anything with a pepper beside it. My fav's are: golden original, cheesling (it's not really cheesy as much as sweet crunchiness), & secret sauce (think Korean BBQ). The sides I've tried are pretty standard, onion rings, waffle fries. But as a plus note, they do have alcohol, so all this fried food deserves a couple beers (oh, they also have the rarely found Sapporo Black--def a reason to visit). read more

A great Korean fried chicken spot in Chinatown. Just opened and still not appearing on Google maps. Fried chicken is very fresh. Takes 15-25 minutes to prepare but they have a sign that tells you that before ordering. It is well worth the wait. Lots of seating and was not busy Saturday during lunch. It's a step above fast food, but not that fast - our ample portions took 15 minutes to be ready. Fried chicken was delicious, especially paired with a Sapporo beer.
