After our hotdog at our first Fenway game, we were hungry. The hotdog was good but it was not enough LOL We decided to find a place nearby and decided on some Asian food. We found KChickin nearby on Peterborough Street and they're open until 9:30pm. We walked quickly over as hunger is a good motivator to walk fast. The restaurant has takeout but offered enough space to hold three famished Fenway newbies. Service was quickly and friendly and the food was served fairly quickly. Seems like most restaurants begin at the suggested 18% tip to start. Some calculate their tipping suggestions at your subtotal before adding the taxes to your bill. This restaurant included the taxes as part of its tip calculation so be aware that you're actually tipping more than 18%. FYI: as a customer, you decide how much to tip for quality service. Bringing your orders to your table is basic. How many times they filled your water cups and check up on you are important and expected. Tipping is not automatic in my humble opinion. Menu had a huge selection of dishes and while I'm usually apprehensive about spots that do a mix of cuisines, they did an okay job with the dishes we ordered. We opted to not get sushi as the name of the restaurant is very much oriented towards their fried chicken. Food came out fast and was fresh. The chicken was okay, nothing amazing but not bad. The soup was a little disappointing personally, but I prefer more flavor. The shell was tasty though. I'm glad I found a place which sells items with uni. I got the foie gras and uni hand roll with uni hand roll for takeout. It was interesting how they had the sauce on the side for you to squeeze on which was convenient for takeout. Unfortunately the uni in one of their rolls was not as fresh so it was a bit bitter and had a bit fishy flavor instead of sweet for fresh uni. Wish I could have tried more of their hot food items so the rating is only based on the freshness of the rolls. There was no parking lot in the front so you have to find a parking spot along the street with limited spaces. I got takeout but there were no utensils in my bag. After returning home from a trip yesterday we wanted to order food for dinner and the hubs wanted sushi so we ordered from KChickin for pickup. I ordered the miso soup and the spicy chicken entree which come with rice - and it was definitely spicy - very tasty but spicy - true into its name! We also ordered the garlic fried rice either chicken- which was very mild but tasty and comforting. The hubs ordered the Philadelphia roll, spicy tuna roll and the spicy salmon roll. He enjoyed all the sushi. Miso soup was good, warm, comforting maybe a tiny bit too salty but really good and had small pieces of silken tofu and seaweed. Everything was fresh when it arrived. Order was ready when he went to pickup. Only thing they didn't ask for his name when he had ordered although he mentioned it just as they were hanging up. So when he went to pickup and he said the name they could not find the bag. Then he told them all the items that were ordered. And then they were able to find the bag. Anyway, no big deal! After spending several hours at the nearby Museum of Fine Arts, I walked around 15 minutes to Fenway for this top-rated restaurant in a strip mall essentially. After opening a very heavy door, a server will direct you to a table in their single dining room. Within minutes, I ordered and was enjoying my food. We got their classic soy garlic wings which were packed full of flavor. Only downside is that some of the wings, near the bone were pink. Service was super friendly, our food came out quickly and we were seated basically immediately. The place seems like the perfect spot to grab drinks with a friend over some wings. It's a smaller spot with not too much seating either. I do wish there was a spot to hang coats as the seating is all stool seating. Overall, good vibes! We were going to a Red Sox game and took a short walk from the ball park to check out KChicken. We went in at 5:00 and were able to sit immediately, but soon after it started to fill up with locals. It was very clean and staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. The super rainbow roll was incredible. It was fresh and had all the goodies on it. The wasabi was really good! The Mini Budae Jjigae for 2 $22.00 was just the right size for 2 of us. The tofu was very soft, the spam was tender and the flavor of the broth was amazing. We didn't need to add anything to it for spice or flavor. Everything that came out to the other tables looked fantastic and there were several orders of the chicken wings coming out of the kitchen. I'm going to start advertising that there's more to baseball in Fenway. There's this hidden gem tucked among the apartment complexes that for some reason, people know about except for me. K'Chickin gets packed quick and I totally see why now. Their coziness and fun-vibe keeps bringing people back. This place is new, right next to Fenway. There is barely any parking, but it's possible if you keep circling the streets as there are plenty of meters. This place is worth it, and there are 2 other noteworthy restaurants to try (shanghai pork bun place (Overrated) and the thai place next door (very good!). This Kchicken place is not overly big but they manage to cram in a respectable number of seats. It's casual dining and you can see some of the chefs right beside you in the dining area. Service is friendly. I love the menus as they all have pictures of the food so you know what to expect and can try new things. Wings - We had the half an half of soy garlic and cheese. They were good and what is expected. I still prefer BBQ Chicken for my wings but this place is respectable and pretty good too. THe cheese wings here are nowhere near as good as the Cheeseling wings at BBQ chicken, but it was a good attempt. If i am craving wings, I wouldn't mind it here...to go along with other offerings here. Corn cheese - These are really good and should be a must try. Very cheesy and corn. Nuff said. Tteokbokki - This is one dish I'd actually pass on. I love this dish and was disappointed to see it was mostly onions (look at my pic). Flavor was meh. Nothing special, not bad...but not good or great either :). Tonkatsu - This was the pork katsu with rice. This was great. Good crisp and fresh. The pork is fried really nicely and elevated on your plate so that it doesn't get soggy. Tri don - I didn't try this dish but the family seemed to enjoy it. Ordered + NBA roll - thought it needed something crunchy maybe but the flavor didn't blow me away. + yumyum salmon was good, it tasted fresh and had their chili type seasoning on a bed of lettuce with maybe fish sauce? - this was probably the best of our dishes for me. + the soy garlic bone in wings were cooked well, chicken was moist, but the crunchy skin kind of just fell apart on ours as you eat it, more flakey then crunchy + the spicy pork Korean style dish was disappointing to me flavor wise had no depth like at authentic Korean spots. The sauce just wasn't it for my taste. Mostly veggies, had like 6 slices of pork mixed in that was slightly over. I think the spot is great for the area and I'm sure they'll continue to put out quality food. I personally just didn't feel excited about it after the meal. I dare say this is my favorite Korean fried chicken dish in the city. Their Hotate Hokkaiyaki Bomb is aesthetic and addictively creamy, the seafood sundubu is surprisingly spicy and savory compared to traditional sundubu, and their katsu curry is comparable to ones we've had in Japan. We also got the Anago, which was good if you like eel. Because it's a small restaurant, the servers were attentive and the food came out quickly. There's Korean and Japanese pop music playing in the background, adding to the vibe and experience. Street parking is tough but not impossible to find. The quick version: GREAT wings. Good everything else. New Wings/Korean/Asian joint opened 11/11/24, with a small space and tight seating. Looks like counter-only but they do table service. Inside, the chicken meat was extremely tender (especially on the flats) and had a pronounced marinade feel along with very strong chicken flavor. Sweet and Sour Boneless Wings: Small tenders, good meat-to-batter ratio, crisp batter, and a sauce straddling bottled Thai chili sauce and a Shirley Temple. Nothing wrong with that. Vegetable Dumplings. Solid. Nothing unique or notably positive or negative. Standard. Bulgogi: I'm not going to pretend to be an authority on bulgogi. This was a spicier version with more finely shredded beef pieces than previous ones I've tried. Some nice mushroom slices too if you're a fan. Thin, tasty sauce. Served with rice. Very strong first impression, with the wings not just good but great. NOTE: One of the owners is a social media influencer with many friends who are just going to drop 5 after 5 on the place (and she even dropped a 5 of her own, which to Yelp's credit, got moved to "not recommended" review status), so go more by photos than numbers here.
