Korean style potato pancake with cheese
    Han N.

I was very excited to hear about a new Korean BBQ restaurant opening in Boston! I heard great things about Naksan prior to my first visit and it did not disappoint. You can place your belongings (coats, bags) inside the seats so they don't smell like BBQ. They have the vents above the grill at each table which is always great at BBQ spots. Food: I have no complaints 5/5. Beef tartare was fresh, I love beef tartare served with Korean pears, everything mixed well with the egg yolk. For my first visit, between three people, we were full with the small beef combo and an extra order of boneless short ribs. One of the memorable items that I tried was Korean style potato pancake with cheese; we literally ordered a second one. It was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, dipped in a honey dipping sauce. They do provide side dishes; I wish they had pickled radish and potato salad banchan. Service: The staff will grill your meat for you. I did not feel rushed with my meal at all, the server would give us time to enjoy the meat in between each cut. Some restaurants would start grilling portions after portions and that doesn't leave enough time to socialize/enjoy the meal without the meat becoming cold. Overall, the restaurant felt welcoming and clean. During another visit, we had a party of over 20 people and we were able to reserve a time by calling ahead. We were split among 4 different round tables, which was fine because that gave us enough room at each table. This restaurant is on the pricier side, however, I think it's the best Boston has to offer at the moment. There's valet or you can try to find street parking, I've never had a difficult time finding a spot, even during the snowy winter. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be visiting again the next time I crave kbbq.

Ambiance: 9/10 -Great music selection, lots of kpop (aespa was a favorite for the table) -Seats have storage for jackets etc so your belongings don't get too smelly -Classic bustling energy that kbbq restaurants usually have Service: 10/10!!! Our waiter was super attentive, regularly refilling our side dishes and water, and put meat on our plates for us. It was super thoughtful of him to place meat on my plate first each time as I was the slowest eater/only girl at the table! Food: -Large Beef Combo: 8/10, portion was perfect for me but slightly small for the guy friends I went with -Soybean Stew (complimentary w the beef combo): 6.8/10, too sweet for my taste but had a lot of meat in it which was nice -Egg Soufflé: 6.5/10, quite bland and idk why there were tomatoes on top -Side dishes: 10/10, had a wide variety and more unique dishes than other Korean restaurants (e.g. eggplant that was really good, pickled celery that was also surprisingly good)

Pros: - Meat was flavorful and very tender, and the staff cook it for you. I personally enjoy not having to do it myself. Kimchi stew was also a standout - the broth was surprisingly good. The ?floral tea they served at the beginning was light and nice as well. - Big space with enough ventilation to not walk out smelling 100% like meat - Final price reflects the quality and includes automatic service charge (although they do ask for additional tip upon payment). Cons: - Even though I enjoy Kpop, the music was a tad too loud. - They do not seat your party until everyone arrives, which I don't fully understand, particularly on a day like today where more than half the tables were empty at 6:30PM on a Friday.

We started with an interesting complementary pumpkin juice and 7 types of banchan. We ordered the large beef combo for $179 and I liked the short rib most. We added on the premium pork belly $39, thin cut pork belly $38 and Japchae. The prices were expensive for how much meat we got but they were good quality. The service was great and I appreciated that they waited until we were done with one round of meat to grill the next. The vent system was strong enough that we couldn't smell the charcoal too much.

We chose the beef combo for 2 and it was enough for the night. Meat quality was okay but humble for quantity, I kinda get it since the price in the area is baddd. On the other hand, customer service is great. All the staff were nice and helpful that they grilled the meat for us and assisted us with ba chan refills (free) for the night.

This was the first experience I had at a kbbq where they cooked for us, and honestly I really enjoyed it. The portion was great and the lack of stress of cooking was much appreciated. The meat cuts were delicious, banchan was great, and the beer selection was impressive. I also think this was very farely priced.

3 year update from my previous review! My partner and I come here at least once a year for special occasions and don't get me wrong, it's still a great place to go for some top end KBBQ. However, this time I felt that the service was less stellar than before. The waiters who cook the meat for you is managing multiple tables at once and is sometimes hard to hear what they say when they put the meat on your plate. No advice on which sauces go with which cuts of meat and generally gives off a stressed vibe. Now, they do cook the meat very well and all of the beef we ate was perfectly cooked. If I could knock off half a star, that would be more accurate since the food is still worth going for, as long as you have the $$ for it! Park on Allston Street across the tracks for 2 hours free parking.

Park belly, kimchi soup, egg soufflé,

Upscale Korean bbq nestled between BU and BC on Commonwealth ave. Parking can be a pain, so if possible try to walk or take the T. We decided to try our luck and go walk in on a Saturday every as a party of 2 but did have to wait about 30 mins to get a table. We started off with the kimchi pancake and then ordered the park combo, which comes with a kimchi soup and egg soufflé, and the marinated short ribs (bulgogi) - throw in a beer and that took us to $180 not including tip. It was a lot of food! But this being our first time, we didn't really understand the portions. The experience was quite interesting - our waitress took our order, while managing 4 other tables, also is cooking live in front of us being very mindful of the timing of the grilling across all the other tables. Seems stressful (hoping that doesn't translate to stressful cooking) but the meat was great super tasty especially with the lettuce they constantly refill for you. tldr; hype place, kinda worth the price, maybe once a year, but I'd rather just buy meats from hmart and grill them myself

It's still the best Korean bbq restaurant in the Boston area and Massachusetts. Ambiance is good and they offer valet. It's not cheap but there is a person that cooks the food for you. Since the first time I came here, the menu expanded a bit. For 2 people, a small combo + another item is perfect. My partner and I order a small beef combo & pork belly. The egg soufflé that comes with it is amazing!!! I personally like coming here with a bigger group because a large combo comes with so much more variety. There are a good amount of alcohol options too. The variety gives it a fun and more exciting steakhouse experience. The grill here is charcoal so it adds to the taste. It's my preference to eat any and all bbq over charcoal. You can also make a reservation over yelp now so you can avoid the lines. The cold noodles, kimchi stew, and soybean soup are some of the most underrated items on the menu. It's also fun to see the staff shake the traditional lunch box for you. The only think I would avoid is Japanese A5 wagyu. Because it's so fatty, it flares up really easy over charcoal and gets burnt way too easily. To me, it comes off a bit too burnt & too fatty to enjoy. Use that money for other options on the menu.

We order the Pork Set and it was so filling for 2 people. I like that the server was there and helps grill the meat for us the whole time. Therefore, the meat was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend ordering their set. It look tiny at first glance, but it actually very well portion! This spot is great for late nite group, since it open to super late and the food are amazing! The vibes are upbeat if you went late at night. They have vibrant lights and space for u to store your jacket.

The first KBBQ I've been to that cooks the food for you and honestly, hell yea! I loved it. It's a cute cozy spot. They gave us bags for our jackets which could be stored in the inside compartment of the chairs. All of the staff were friendly. The food was very good--the kimchi soup blew me away. They also offer valet parking which is great since parking is difficult in that area.

    Beef Combo for 2
    Connie L.

Naksan BBQ is rather overpriced for the quality & quantity of food you get. We got the small beef combo for 2 people- it was $139.95 for such a small amount of meat and each cold noodle bowl was $16.95. I did think their Banchan and Kimchi Stew were promising, but their meats were mediocre. I understand they're trying to be upscale, but their meat quality wasn't anything special. Also even though they cooked it for us, the cookery was inconsistent. Some pieces were slightly undercooked, others were too dry. The servers were nice and attentive, but the quality for that price point is not worth your money.
