    Beef heart

Having first tried Gopchang Story in Warwick- we decided to venture out and try it in Boston next. What a wildly different experience! This was less of a Korean BBQ experience with meat being grilled over open flames, and more of a hot pot focus. Furthermore, Warwick has more meat options beyond the intestines menu, which may be more approachable to an American palate. That being said, it still was delicious and I would recommend their pork belly platter to anyone. The tteokbokki on the side of the beef heart was incredible and I wish that was something you could just order solo. Overall though, I prefer the Warwick location from the set up, food options and the grilling at the table. However, I wouldn't hesitate to go back here.

Have you tried spicy marinated raw crab? It has a flavorful slightly sweet and spicy flavor that tasted amazing over rice (especially because it was pretty salty)! I love crab and this was a new delicious way for me to enjoy it! I also recommend their beef brisket noodle soup that served rice noodles and beef slices in super flavorful sweet soy broth Their bomb steamed egg was also indeed bomb and their grilled kimchi pork belly was tasty (only downside was that our grill stopped working midway through our meal ). With friendly staff and lots of seating, I recommend going to Gopchang Story in groups of 3-4 max to expedite any wait times during dinner rush hours!

If I could give zero stars, I would--but I'll give them one because the pork belly was okay I went to Gopchang Story Boston last night, and the service was awful. The waiter dropped off poorly cooked large intestines **super chewy and hard to eat on the edge of our table instead of in the middle, said "enjoy," and walked off. He didn't set up the grill or check in with us, and the restaurant wasn't even busy! At the end, another waiter came over, handed us the toast, and stared us down while we were signing! Like he was pressuring us. The check had a 20% tip already checked off, with no breakdown or itemized bill I've been here before and it was never this bad. Definitely not coming back!

Originally from NYC, Gopchang Story Boston is the ultimate spot for Korean grilled intestines. The gopchang is fresh, chewy, and full of flavor, especially when paired with their spicy dipping sauce. The staff grills everything to perfection. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Korean BBQ with bold flavors!

Pricey but food was decent if you're adventurous. Kind of loud inside so good for a party type of group. The pancake was good but pricey and very small so wouldn't get again. Also got the bibimbap tartare which wasn't very good (forgot to take photo). The intestines were their best dish but it's also fatty so good to share with others (also forgot to take photo).

I had grilled gopchang in Korea and it was amazing! I'm happy there's Gopchang story here in Boston. I loved the vibe with the tv screens around the restaurant playing kpop music videos. The seats can also be opened to store your belongings to keep them clean and hopefully less smelly. My husband and I had the assorted intestines, fried rice and a green apple highball. I thought the food and drink was good. The service was amazing, the worker grills everything for you and they make the fried rice for you too. Definitely come here with friends for a fun and unique dining experience.

We came here when they opened, not busy but service is really slow and feel being ignore. My favorite is the seafood pancake, they doesn't have much flour, more like tempura. We ordered the 1 serving of assorted gui and 1 serving of marinated gui, still big portion that we still left over. The yookhwe bibimbap portion was small and too much sesame oil, they did not have the pepper paste to go with it. The steamed egg, lack of seasoning. I rather ordering take than dining in person.

Intestines for dinner? I guess this place is known for offal. Try something new, but settled for Korean beef Tartar, and bulgogi hot pot. I also had the seafood pancake. I really like the beef tartare and seafood pancake. The bulgogi Had a great presentation. I felt the beef was a bit bland itself, even though the broth was incredibly delicious with the mushrooms and vegetables. Place was open super late and we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated but we were really seated in 10 minutes. Service was ok. I don't know if this would be a place I would come over and over again, but it seem to be popular with the students and residents of the area.

We ordered the mala big intestines medium spice and was not disappointed. It was quite delicious and flavorful. Plentiful for a table of 4. Love the interior design - little small stools around the bbq table that opens for storage. I have this place 3 stars because: 1. Side dishes could definitely use some beefing up. There were like 4 pieces of kimchi - however you can ask for more. 2. Service could definitely improve. Will definitely come back though for some intestines again!

Love the seats that open to put your purse or jacket inside just like Korea! We had the marinated and unmarinated small and large intestines, the smaller ones are better in my opinion. It's quite oily and your jaw hurts from all the chewing after. Get the fried rice with seaweed to cook after you eat the intestines. The cold noodles was very light but flavorful, delicious! Unfortunately we did not enjoy the raw crabs here. The tofu soup was the perfect amount of spice. Good place to drink with friends and eat some drinking food. They were playing American hip hop music while we there.

We finally tried this place! We went on a friday night just past 5pm and the place was pretty empty. We were promptly seated and pretty much left alone to figure out what to do. There were no menus handed out but the wife noticed a QR code at the table so we scanned it to see the offerings. It would've been nice had the hostest or waiters asked if it was our first time and explained things. They didn't tell us the seats open to store our belongings either, I figured that out later. The seats are not that comfortable, IMHO. We didn't know if we were supposed to figure out a way to order from the QR code menu or what, but eventually a waitress walked by and was like "oh, are you ready to order?". Makes me wonder if I had done something wrong?? The waitress did grill one of our gui orders at the table. No one ever checked up on us after the food was done. Service is only a 3 stars out of 5. We were really excited to try this type of food. For any parties of 2+, you're mandated to order at least 2 servings of the gui for some reason. Whatever, I was fine with that as I was excited to eat this type of stuff. They have one grill at each table and because we had to order 2, one had to be prepared in the kitchen while the other is prepared tableside. This creates a problem where one comes out already done and the other is still cooking. Any other dishes are also already out on the table. We waited till the waitress finished cooking the one serving of gui at the table before really digging in. Gui: The marinated gui had good flavor. Suprisingly the regular assorted gui tasted even better. They put some powerdery type of seasoning on it prior to cooking. Because this one was cooked at the table, it was hot and remained hot throughout the meal. These were both good but I was disappointed that the shell or outer ring of the gui tasted kind of rubbery or plasticky. It was just hard to chew. 3/5 stars. Side Dishes: The side dishes served to us were obviously not freshly picked and plated for us...it was pre-plated and sitting around. It was just ok. 2/5 stars. Spicy marinated crab: You get 2.5 whole crabs marinated in very spicy seasoning/paste. The meat was soft and tasted kind of sweet. We wished they offered other options, like just marinated crab (without the spicy), as the spiciness level was pretty high. We had to order some rice to really enjoy this one. They give you thin gloves to eat this with your hands. 4/5 stars. Intestine tteokbokki: This is basically some rice noodles with fish cakes and intestines. Some of the rice noodles were still stuck together...i noticed this several times as I went in. The fish cakes were a lot better than the ones served as side dishes. The intestines were the same as the ones in the assorted gui. The sauce is very good and I found myself dunking the grilled gui pieces in this a lot. I'd give this dish a 3.5/5 stars. The decor inside is very modern and nice. There are TV's on the walls showing artists singing korean songs. The tables had induction style grill tops so wirings was minimal. The seats were uncomfortable but they do swing open to store your stuff so they don't absorb the bbq smell. Value wise, I think is okay. These are specialty types of foods here and I understand the prices will add up. I'm not sure why they force 2 servings of gui for 2+ parties though, but whatever. Upon checkout, they bring a device over and have you pay at the table. The default tip amount on the machine was 20% upon check out but you could make it awkward and try to choose something else while the waitress is staring you down. Overall, it was a unique experience, one that I'd been looking forward to since they opened. I'm just not sure if I'd come back...maybe I will, just to see if the hard to chew gui was a common occurrence or just a bad night. I think an overall score of 3.5/5 is accurate, as Yelp has it. Unfortunately I can only choose 3 or 4. I erred on 4 for now.

We got the combination and I would suggest doing so unless you know what parts you like! It tastes like home and was pretty solid. I would recommend getting the marinated crabs and kimchi noodle to share so you won't feel too greasy eating the intestines. The main guy was super nice and the servers were great in a busy environment. It is usually packed as soon as it opens on Friday/weekend so I would recommend getting there asap!

Spicy Mala with large intestines and rice cakes
    Rebeka S.

I love it here. Large spacious location with lots of seating. Street parking is required to get here and can be a hassle to find sometimes. Great ambiance with dimmed lighting, chill kpop music, and the perfect temperature. Ventilation is good here since they can also open up the windows, so I've never had to worry about going home smelling like Gopchang haha. From my 3 experiences, service is kind of slow and not as attentive as I would expect for good service. But the staff is so nice and help cook for you! Food takes awhile to be served, but the wait is worth it. Food here is so tasty! Portions are huge, like I think the two person serving can even feed 3-4! Our favorite to order are the large intestines! Also comes out perfectly chewy and grilled. The Mala is super flavorful with a kick of heat! So good with the added kimchi fried rice and eggs. The star of the show here is the Seafood pancake, which is so far the best I've had as it's chewy, but also crispy at the same time and stuffed with seafood and veggies! I still drool thinking about the seafood pancake. Only downside I have about the food is that it's super oily (from the intestines) and I always leave with a stomachache! So this isn't really by preferred location to eat out! Thus, I wouldn't come too often, but I definitely recommend Gopchang at least once if you like intestines!

We ordered the cheese topokki (soft rice cake, fish cake, vegetable, & mozzarella in Korean spicy sauce) & the beef bulgogi bowl (fried marinated beef, vegetables, steamed rice & side of soup). The cheese topokki was just as good as we remembered - chewy, flavorful, comforting, & a little bit weird. The cheese was poorly distributed, but it was still very tasty. The beef bulgogi bowl was really underwhelming. Firstly, it was very little food. We were promised vegetables, but there were only a few scarce onions & zucchini pieces mixed in. It was also dry. It was devoid of moisture & sauce, so we added some from the fridge at home. The side of soup was a joke. It filled only about 2/3 of the container & looked so sad, we wondered if it was the sauce that we we so desperately needed. Nope, just a meager amount of watered down miso soup. So the conclusion - great topokki, sub-par bulgogi, non-existent soup.
