    Veggie Bibimbap

Dining method: counter-serve at the Boston Public Market Item(s) ordered: Veggie bowl Speed: Bowl was made immediately--great service Value: Pricing is typical for the area, large portions though! The Review: I was on the hunt for a safe-yet-delicious gluten-free option at the Boston Public Market, when I came upon Perillas. Although the only gluten-free option on the menu, they had the Veggie Bowl, and it was awesome. It was loaded with rice and veggies. My favorite things had to be the spicy garlic cucumbers and the Yum-Yum aioli. The portion size was substantial, and the dish was so flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised. What really drew me in was how spotless the place looked. They had signage for proper prep station cleaning, and the server was very knowledgeable on what contained gluten, so I felt very safe. Thank you, Perillas!

Came here during the opening and was pretty disappointed, tbh. I was really excited at first, but the first trials didn't do justice. There was soooo much rice and not much meat/veggies in these bowls, it wasn't balanced at all. Not worth the price I paid for it for sure. I felt the same with my friend's bowl.

Don't let the zoomed in Instagram photos fool you. The rice bowls actually aren't that big in person. However, I did feel full 30 minutes after while drinking water to expand the rice in my stomach. Definitely an interesting meat to rice ratio . The pickled kimchi cucumbers were really good and refreshing. I got the Beef Galbi. Although it was good, I wish it was flame grilled to have char marks on it and some more pieces. Probably get more bang for your buck with the pork belly. Too bad they don't have self serve gochujang sauce to smother it in or sesame oil to dip. Serving dessert here is kind of strange because 1000% the ice cream will be served before the main dishes. The chocolate tiramisu coffee taco is really great and there is a cake consistency to the filling so it isn't melting all over the place. Highly recommended, but at $7.50 per taco, it will be a rare treat instead of a daily diabetic fuel. Definitely the price matches supply, so check if it's in stock since there's limited quantity. Overall, I wish it was a little cheaper and had better serving sizes, but I'm a gluttonous cheapskate Asian who hunts for deals. Definitely need more Korean restaurants in the Allston/Brighton area to increase competition. I still can't believe Perillas are some Korean herbal plant. Thought it was an Italian restaurant name. Maybe I'm reminded of Peroni beer.

I'm so excited to see this spot expand and grow throughout (and outside) Boston! It's such a delicious, easy and affordable spot to get some quick Korean food - in bowl form. I've tried their pork belly and bulgogi - both were delicious. Can't wait to see this place continue to thrive!

Very tasty bowl and one bowl was enough to feed two of us (unless you are super hungry then go for it!). We had the beef and spicy gojujang sauce which was very good, but it is spicy so if you don't eat hot food, go for the aioli sauce instead. We liked the bowl and would go back for sure.

Everything is good here. Such an awesome experience. Loved every bit of it. Beef Galbi

My son loves this place and he eats what I can't finish. The tortilla style pork wrap was tasty but way too much red sauce-grease coming out of it. Don't wear white eating that. My kid tried pork belly and rice and also the short-rib meal w rice. He enjoyed it but couldn't eat the spicy vegetable side dish.

this spot is very yummy! the menu offerings is smaller at this locations, but they are very generous with the portion. i got the beef bulgogi bibimbap and the bibimbap with spicy pork (they were out of beef that day and substituted w/ spicy pork). both items were delicious and BIG. i had enough for lunch the next day. they also offer spicy or mild sauce for the bibimbap. neither are spicy, the mild is like spicy mayo--so just for the spicy sauce. the staff are also super sweet and quick! overall, i would recommend this spot if you are in the boston public market. for the price, i think you get a flavorful and FILLING meal!

Such a nice addition to lower Allston! With the lack of casual Korean food in Boston, this fills a much needed gap in the food scene. They serve up Korean style rice bowls that are the perfect size for a quick meal. The pickled veggies are done really well (those cucumbers) and the meat has always been good. I highly recommend the kalbi! They serve dessert too! Honeycomb ice cream tacos which are also such a nice treat

    Short rib bowl

Located on Western Ave across from the Brighton Mills area and right next to a Honeycomb Creamery! A small little spot that offers Korean bowls that make a well balanced meal. I ordered online through Toasttab and picked up a short rib bowl. It comes with kimchi cucumbers, salad, rice, and a sweet sauce to pour over everything. The packaging itself is deceiving, since the bowl looks quite small, but it's actually quite deep and there's a lot to this bowl. The meat is tender and well flavored, while the kimchi cucumbers add the perfect amount of spice to the dish. Give it a good mix and you have a little bit of each in every bite you take. They also offer bibimbap, pork belly, spicy pork bowls, and well as spicy pork quesadilla. Overall, a good experience if you're in the mood for a rice bowl.

I got this at the Boston Public Market and woo let me share my excitement. All the flavors are amazing, the portion is perfect for the price of $13 something. I have ordered from here multiple times because it's just so freaking delicious. Boston Public Market has various food spots but this place by far beats all!!! The service is perfect, polite, and speedy.

This place is in a great area. The owners are very friendly and nice. We got to try their new Bibimbap Bowls which was pork belly and short rib. They were so favorful and the texture was amazing. The presentation was on point. The tiramisu taco was so rich in favor and huge. Highly recommend you try them out

A no go if you have garlic sensitivity. Even with no sauce, everything is doused with garlic. Otherwise it was tasty though.

We found KChickin nearby on Peterborough Street and they're open until 9:30pm. We walked quickly over as hunger is a good motivator to walk fast. The restaurant has takeout but offered enough space to hold three famished Fenway newbies. Service was quickly and friendly and the food was served fairly quickly. Seems like most restaurants begin at the suggested 18% tip to start. Some calculate their tipping suggestions at your subtotal before adding the taxes to your bill. This restaurant included the taxes as part of its tip calculation so be aware that you're actually tipping more than 18%. FYI: as a customer, you decide how much to tip for quality service. Bringing your orders to your table is basic. How many times they filled your water cups and check up on you are important and expected. Tipping is not automatic in my humble opinion. Servers who work diligently for their tips so tip accordingly to those who provided a great dining experience.

KChickin is one of those places that earns its high rating without much argument. We walked into a…read morespace that buzzes even on weeknight evenings, with a menu spanning Korean fried chicken, sushi, hand rolls, and Japanese comfort food. That combination sounds like it could go sideways, but the kitchen handles the range with enough confidence that the whole thing works. The fried chicken is the anchor of the menu and the reason most people come back. We ordered the soy garlic wings, the most talked about item, and they justified the reputation. They came out freshly fried with a glaze that coated evenly and a crunch that held. The chili basil version is worth ordering alongside if you want some heat, and the classic crispy is the right call for anyone who wants to taste the chicken itself without much interference. The calamari is a strong starter, well fried and light enough that it did not weigh down the rest of the meal before it got going. On the Japanese side of the menu, the kaisen don stood out. The presentation was careful and the fish was fresh in a way that made it feel like a dish the kitchen takes seriously rather than an afterthought. The hand rolls are solid and satisfying, though they lean more reliable than revelatory, making them a good addition to a larger spread rather than the sole reason to visit. For a spot covering this much ground, the consistency impressed us most. People drive over an hour to eat here, and that says something. It earns the trip. We would come back for the soy garlic wings and a bowl of kimchi tofu soup, and we would bring friends who want both Korean fried chicken and fresh sushi under one roof.

For an appetizer my friend and I had the spicy salmon tartare which was excellent. Thick cubes of salmon poke tossed in a bright yuzu vinaigrette that enhanced the flavor of the salmon excentuated by bursting ikura added another level to a refreshing texture. The saffron threads added aesthetic and a perfectly delicate garnish. For entrees, we had to try both the homemade soba and udon noodles. Both were so soft with great flavor that provides the essential reminder that homemade is superior. The soba noodles, if you have never had them, are almost sweet. The tofu in the yasai soup was a delightful fluffy pillow of fried tofu skin thinly cut and same flavor as inari tofu. I added a poached egg and the flavor of the yolk mixed into the noodles is unrivaled. I want to eat it for breakfast. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

We walked into a warm, intimate space with a detailed interior that gave it the charm of a small neighborhood restaurant you might come across in Japan. The room was modest and inviting, with wooden accents and soft lighting that made it easy to settle in for a comforting meal, and the quiet energy of the dining room encouraged lingering over a bowl of noodles rather than rushing through a quick stop. The noodles are the main reason to visit. We ordered a few bowls and found the udon having a satisfying chewy texture, while the broths were light, savory, and well balanced without feeling overly heavy. The beef sukiyaki udon stood out with its rich, slightly sweet broth and tender slices of beef, and the kimchi beef udon brought a warm, spicy kick that added a different layer to the meal. The curry udon was another strong option, with a thick, aromatic sauce that clung to the noodles and made each bite feel hearty and comforting. The cold soba was a refreshing choice for a warmer day, with a clean, nutty flavor that paired well with the dipping sauce. The appetizers were also worth ordering alongside the noodles. The takoyaki came out hot and crisp on the outside with a soft, savory center, and the crispy squid tentacles added a nice textural contrast to the meal, with a light batter and a good balance of seasoning. The restaurant is fairly small, so it could fill up quickly during dinner and weekends. Service was fast and friendly, and the staff were happy to answer questions about the menu. Portion sizes may feel a little modest considering the price, especially for some of the beef dishes, but the quality of the ingredients and preparation helped make up for it. We also appreciated the attention to the overall dining experience. The décor added a lot of character without feeling overdone, making it somewhere that was enjoyable to sit down and take our time rather than simply grabbing a quick meal. It was easy to share a few appetizers before digging into our own bowls of noodles. Somenya is a great choice if you are looking for quality Japanese udon or soba in Boston. The cozy atmosphere, flavorful broths, and well-prepared noodles make it a place worth returning to, especially when we are craving a comforting bowl of noodles.

We ordered the cheese topokki (soft rice cake, fish cake, vegetable, & mozzarella in Korean spicy sauce) & the beef bulgogi bowl (fried marinated beef, vegetables, steamed rice & side of soup). The cheese topokki was just as good as we remembered - chewy, flavorful, comforting, & a little bit weird. The cheese was poorly distributed, but it was still very tasty. The beef bulgogi bowl was really underwhelming. Firstly, it was very little food. We were promised vegetables, but there were only a few scarce onions & zucchini pieces mixed in. It was also dry. It was devoid of moisture & sauce, so we added some from the fridge at home. The side of soup was a joke. It filled only about 2/3 of the container & looked so sad, we wondered if it was the sauce that we we so desperately needed. Nope, just a meager amount of watered down miso soup. So the conclusion - great topokki, sub-par bulgogi, non-existent soup.
