A beverage with ice cubes and an orange hue is served in a rounded glass with a black straw and a wooden stir stick. The drink is on a wooden table in a restaurant or bar environment, with wooden chairs and tables visible in the background, illuminated by dim, colorful lighting.

(Last visited October 25, 2023.) Working at Boston University for a couple of weeks and my co-worked trusted me to find the best food in the area! With a little research we wound up at SOJUba! Here's how things went! Atmosphere/Appearance: It was like a Monday or something so the place wasn't very busy, but I love how open and energetic the restaurant still felt. It felt like a Korean BBQ sports bar, if that makes any sense. Lol. There were lots of TVs hanging behind the bar, lots of windows to people watch through, comfortable booths and like I said, this place just felt so open! I loved that. Service: Slacked. We had to ask to be served as staff members were just walking around. I get that it was slow, but come on. Waitress's attitude was bad. No smile. Lacked energy. Had to ask for water after the first serving. Had to ask to be seen and to order. Sorry Samantha, but this was our experience. Moving on. Food: So I started with the edamame and they were addicting! So perfectly salted and hot! I then moved on to the irresistible Korean fried chicken wings! These were EXCELLENT. The dredge was so thin, but SO CRISPY and even made them fluffy. They were juicy, flavorful and succulent. I really enjoyed these. Value: Not bad in my opinion! It is downtown Boston, but the prices did all seem extremely reasonable and the portions were certainly satisfying. In conclusion, I'd come back for sure. The food was worth the sub-par service.

After a few visit over the last 5 years, I think my opinion of slipping quality solidified. Food: On my most recent visit, we ordered the rice cakes, a medium order of wings, and a soju pitcher. The rice cakes were overly sweet to us and didn't blend when with the spice that tried to pack in. The wings were the best part of the meal but they genuinely used to be much better. These wings were light on sauce and were a bit dry and overcooked. Lastly, the soju pitcher was just sugar water and not worth $30. Service: The staff was still very pleasant but could be more attentive towards the tail end of the meal for a more timely checkout. Atmosphere: I liked the Halloween decorations, but I would have like some more light at 7pm.

If I were to get Korean food, I would go to Allston, but if you're in Fenway then I think this is a good option. I thought the soy garlic Korean fried chicken was very well fried, but the sauce was a little too sweet. The same goes for the Galbi, it was too sweet, but my fiance really liked it. I got the kimchi stew and I got it very spicy and I think that it was the perfect amount of spice. Overall, I think this is a cute place to get Korean food in Fenway

We went on a cold day so the place wasn't too busy. It seems like a good party spot. Someone puked on right outside the bathroom though Strawberry yogurt boba - slightly carbonated and sweet. Yummy Gizzard - great drinking snack. A little tough to chew but try the grilled garlic Donkatsu - crispy and a good portion size. The salad is crunchy and slightly sweet Tofu kimchi jaeyook - soft doek, tofu good combo with the pork, not too salty and comes with rice cakes

Food is solid for a sports bar, I love the corn cheese, and the garlic noodles are a classic. The Cajun fried were pretty fresh the last time we went, and my vegan coworker liked her tofu bibimbap. Love the vibes here and that it's open super late, good eats when leaving work late. Music is good and I heard sometimes it becomes sort of a dance floor with a DJ. Great location at the heart of Boston Fenway, but parking is hard most of the time. Mostly just street parking on the side streets.

    Broken TV

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Terrible management and service. Went here for a Super Bowl watch party that was extremely disorganized. Manager completely dismissed our group's concerns. The TV near our booth was broken/turned off. Food took over 2 hours to arrive and came out cold. The kitchen forgot my friend's order. ABSOLUTE DISASTER. We were told there was a double booking of events in reservations and "miscommunication." Which should never happen if this is a professional business and restaurant. Disappointing and upsetting experience here.

I asked them to make their Soondubu vegan (no egg/no seafood), and they made me a classic one which was delicious (remember to say no jalapeños if you don't want it extra spicy). Only sad part is there was no banchan. Service is mid, I wasn't really asked how my meal was at all or if I needed anything. Ambiance is top-tier with lights and good music.

Yooo this restaurant is slept on. Why do they have a 3.8?!? I have been to many koreatowns, Korean homes, you name it I've had it. Let me tell you.. this place is solid. Not a bad item was had and my group and I ordered a lot. We went on a Monday evening and it was pretty dead but service was fast, friendly and helpful when it came to choosing items off the menu and drinks to be consumed. I'm not sure if it's jumpin on the weekends bc they had a dance floor and dj set up. Now the food.. -French fries (for the kiddos that don't have proper taste buds lol) 5/5 they had that nice crust on the outside iykyk -Chicken gizzards: this was a surprise for some reason I thought they would be battered and fried but to my avail they were not. They were pan fried with charred pieces of whole garlic you have to eat it together it's good drinking food. 4/5 -Steamed egg: Was a steamed egg nothing fancy about it but it was still good. 4/5 -Boodae Jjigae: Holy comfort in a pot. Translates to army stew I think but think of ramen turnt up with rice cakes, spam, tofu, sausages, and veggies in a slightly spicy broth. If you have no spice tolerance it will be too spicy for you. My 5 year old can eat it but she's seasoned. 5/5 -Wings: 1/2 original and 1/2 spicy. These were good crunchy but not soggy. I personally prefer the original with no sauce. They were juicy and crispy. The sauce is your standard Korean spicy sweet sauce which I personally don't like but if you do you'll like this. 4/5 -Galbi: Suck the bone good. It was wetter than I'm used to if that makes sense but the sauce was smackin good so nothing to complain about. My only minor complaint overall about the short ribs is that the pieces we had were more fatty than meat but still good! Sweet & savory 5/5 -Suntory highball: my first highball but it might not be a fair rating but 5/5! Refreshing and sweet. -Soju and beer make somek (sp) like a Korean jaggerbomb but with soju. Refreshing and one too many will have you kissing the floor. -Now best for last........ SPICY SNAIL. The absolutely showstopper of the evening. It was so freaking because it had many vegetables that were light and crunchy. It was spicy and a little sweet tasted like it was coming from the Korean pear. It was served with noodles on the side and just together chefs kiss** My table could not stop talking about it. In WA state we don't have nothing like this and it just makes me sad when I think about it bc it was that good. If you're out in Boston and not in theKorea town area please give this place a try. If you have to try something please try the spicy snail!

A great place to drink, snack, and listen to k-pop. Their Japchae and Budae Jjigae are my favorite entrees, and their Cheese Corn is a MUST appetizer.

Fun place to go for food and bar vibes! We got the Japchae (4/5 it was more of a stir fry, wouldn't call it traditional but still tasty), Budae Jjigae (4/5 it was pretty good, nothing crazy but did cost $44), and the Soju Watermelon (4/5 was tasty, definitely had minimal soju in it, and was super expensive at $53!). Overall a fun place, but not sure it was worth the price.

Bulgogi Nachos (with tomato/onion mix on the side - it normally comes on top). - A bowl containing chopped tomatoes and onions is placed on a wooden table. Next to it, a plate of nachos topped with ground beef, sliced jalapenos, and melted cheese is visible. A smartphone and chopsticks are also on the table, indicating a dining scene in a restaurant.
    Alice P.

FOOD: The food was OK. We got Bulgogi Nachos and Tteokbokki with cheese. The nachos are not layered. The chips go first then the nacho cheese, meat, and veggie toppings go on top of that, so once you get through the toppings on top, you're left with dry chips that you either eat plain or don't do anything with. They were also cold. The meat was warmish, but overall, they were cold. The tteokbokki was an interesting flavor...and it had a ton of veggies in it (carrots, onions, cabbage) that outnumbered and overpowered the actual tteok. It was not bad, but also, not good *Jisoo voice*. I don't think we'd get it again. Someone else ordered chicken wings and THOSE looked good, so we might get those next time. We want to go back to try drinks. SERVICE: prompt, super friendly and fast. Our food came out super quick, everyone we interacted with was really nice and everything was clean. VIBE: I feel like this would be a good spot in the summer when it's nice to sit outside. Definitely gives more bar, out for drinks type vibes. It was empty when we went, but it was on a weeknight at like 9pm. There were ppl in a group and a couple with a baby. It can be whatever you want it to be. PARKING: There is streets parking and a parking lot next to Hojoko on the same side as Sojuba, but idk if you have to pay. We were parked in the garage across the street, so we just walked over on the way back to the car.

I have visited SOJUba twice now. I always get a Soju cocktail every time. They have a lot of drink options: soju cocktails, individual bottles, and towers. However, the cocktail hits EVERY TIME! especially because they come with popsicles! In terms of food, I would recommend sharing plates, especially for the tteokbokki, noodles, and Korean fried chicken. The entrees are bar food that compliment the drinks. Would also recommend going with a group after a show or the club. A vibe. They usually play kpop and apparently have karaoke once a week as well. Service is a hit or miss. Last time, they brought the wrong dishes and drinks to our table. However, that shouldn't stop anyone from at least visiting once. They also have a rooftop as well.

Korean BBQ Ribs (KALBI) - A black plastic container holds Korean braised beef short ribs (galbi jjim), cooked with a savory sauce. The ribs are garnished with chopped green onions and sprinkled with sesame seeds. The dish appears tender and flavorful, typical of Korean cuisine, and is served in a takeout container.
