Underwhelmed by the jjajangmyun, especially based on the very positive reviews of it, but perhaps I caught them on an off-day. The noodles were cold and had minimal bounciness. Microwaving the noodles killed the ghost of any bouncy texture that might have lingered. The sauce was hot and very flavorful, though. Good amount of veggies and pork in the sauce, definitely not skimpy. I got my takeout order exceptionally fast, only waiting about 5 minutes. Large amount of sitting space inside, with a versatile atmosphere.

This place is still solid after many years. The quality and quantity is still great even with higher prices. My only complaint is the sad amount of panchan side dishes, they used to have more, now it's only the yellow radish and kimchi, but at least it's still free and refillable, some places charge now The best things here are Korean Chinese, jajangmyun and tangsooyuk are a must but everything is good.

I stumbled onto this place while walking to a coffee shop and boy am I glad I took a chance. I had plan to order two full orders, but to my surprise, they had a combo of exactly what I wanted to order. I'm from Orange County, where we have the best Korean food, so I was surprised that this place was as good as it was. Hands-down the BEST jajangmyun I've had. The tangsooyuk was also great and I appreciate that the sauce was served on the side so that the pork was not soggy. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Super local Korean spot that's been OG of union square for years. It's been a very long time since I've been at this joint and it does not disappoint. We were able to grab a table for two on a random Tuesday evening and were able to order quickly. We got the combo with jjiajang and tansooyuk and a stone pot bibimbap with kalbi The portions are still generous although their dishes have gone up with inflation over the years, still really damn good. tldr; expect tasty and delicious home-cooked style Korean meals, the kind of stuff that fuels childhood dreams

My favorite Chinese Korean place in MA! I believe there was a change of management after the death of previous owner, my condolences to the family :( I think there was a little hiccup with tragedy but I assure you their food tastes great. jjajngmyeon and tangsuyuk are my go-to dish here. I heard people complaining about them not serving many ban chan (side dishes) for meals, however, that's how it is in Chinese Korean restaurants in Korea, people! You usually only get kimchi and danmooji (picked raddish) We paid a visit last weekend and had another great meal. I would recommend getting black noodles (you can also ask them to make it vegetarian!), jjambbong, fried pork with sweet and sour sauce, soon tofu stew, fried rice, and veggie pancake! Portion is also generous, hence giving 5 stars! 대박 강추!

Always quality and tasty Korean food every time I come. They recently changed management so they have an amazing deal for jajangmyun and jambong for half off! Both noodle dishes are so delicious! The noodles are perfectly cooked and chewy. The portion is generous, the flavor and sauce/broth is all on point. I've also tried the tofu soup, tangsuyook beef and ganpoong shrimp. The ganpoong is tangy, sweet and a little spicy. So good! Portions are large and definitely shareable. All highly recommend! The only downside is the location. It's hard to find parking in Union Square.

My friend and I came around 6h30 on a Saturday. They were very empty at the time but were slightly busier by the time we left. We ordered the jjajangmyeon, the topokki , and the kimchi jjigae. Jjajangmyeon was great - a rather large portion size actually- and the noodles and sauce were so delicious. I will note that there is barely any pork in the sauce though - it is mostly onions. The topokki was good - extremely spicy with a crazy amount of the pepper powder. Kimchi jjigae was also really yummy too - surprisingly less spicy that the topokki, with very well cooked and generous portions of cabbage, pork, tofu, and rice cakes. Price point was also surprisingly low too (especially in this economy?!) Overall super happy with my visit; I had high expectations since I love Chinese Korean food, and fortunately they exceeded all of them! Can't wait to come again and try their tangsuyook and ganjajang, too :)

We were in Somerville for a family event and walked around looking at different dining options when we came upon Buk Kyung. We wanted some simple comfort food so ordered the fried pork dumplings, shrimp shumai and pork fried rice. We enjoyed it all with the pork fried rice being our favorite. Service was thorough and friendly. We would return.

This is the first place where they served half/half option for jjajangmyun and jjambbong like they usually do back home in Korea. I appreciated the option for that because I love both and I would always have to choose! The ttangsuyuk was also pretty good and they gave a good amount too (we already ate a few before taking the pic). The employee was also SUPER friendly even though it was at night and the food came out fast as well. There is a lot of space in the place to sit and is clean as well. I would come back again if I'm in the area!

What I got: - Jambong Noodles ($14.92) - Shrimp Ganpoong ($25.99) - Not pictured but Jjajangmyun ($12.99) This place has a special place in my heart because Id go often when I was a kid but they recently changed ownership and currently have a great promotion going on - jambong and jjajang noodles are both around $8 each for limited time only!! The flavors of the noodles were great but i wish there were more veggies/toppings and the noodles were more chewy. The ganpoong shrimp also had really delicious sauce but I found the batter to be a little thick. If allstons far, i think its worth checking it out if youre craving korean chinese food.

Why did I not come here sooner?! Off to the side of charming Union Square, Buk Kyung is doing its best to stand out amongst the crowd but falls a bit short with the outside decor. However, don't be discouraged, grab that door handle (they provide free parking permits if you want to take your car and park to the side of the restaurant, adjacent to the Axe throwing place) and pop in. The inside is casual, and the atmosphere is typical of an unassuming family-owned restaurants: older guys hanging out, handful of younger, clearly sons or cousins of the older men, milling around and working the tables. The menu boasts pretty much anything you want in the Korean food group. My husband and I have been wanting dolsot bibimbap for a long time so we ordered that, and an appetizer of scallion pancake. We were offered two courses of kimchi in two ways (daikon and the traditional napa cabbage). Getting our food was a pretty quick process, getting our checks afterwards took quite a bit longer but it was also kind of nice to be sitting there in a sort of quietish, chill vibe of the restaurant-- it almost felt like hanging out at your Korean uncle's house. I know where I'm going when I need my Korean food fix next time!

We ordered thru Grub Hub and we were pleasantly surprised how awesome the food here was. We had the Tangsuyuk- highly recommend (very similar to Paiks noodle in CA and UT) The Bibimbap was perfectly made and I really enjoyed the Soft tofu stew. The deep flavor was just amazing. The ban chans were tasty too. Kimchi was perfect. We will definitely be ordering here again next time we come visit Boston. 4.5 solid stars for the food!

I love this place! It's a cute and small restaurant. This was my second time there and I love the food and the staff. The workers are so friendly. I believe it is family owned. You cannot go wrong with any items on the menu but my favorite is the rice cake dumping stew and cold noodles.

Is the restaurant closed either permanently or temporarily? I made transportation arrangements in advance to go on Tuesday only to find out too late they were closed. No response to my email, phone call asked for an access code.

According to the hours posted here on yelp (updated two weeks ago), they are close don Tuesdays.

This is a really nice restaurant area, very spacious and plenty of seating when I came on a weekday evening around 6:30pm with a party of four. I wasn't familiar with their portion sizes but they recommended 3 barbecue meat dishes + 1 additional dish for four people. Given how expensive some of the options are (galbi is around $37!), we opted for two meat options and a soft tofu chigae soup. I appreciated how the staff gave us feedback and recommendations on what to order though! Food: - Galbi: delicious. A smaller portion, definitely not too much meat especially if you have multiple people. I feel like you definitely pay for flavor and quality here instead of quantity but some of the pieces were sinewy and tough. - Spicy bulgogi: my favorite, and a better portion for price. I preferred this to the Galbi! Not too spicy - Soft tofu chigae soup: so spicy but a very cozy feeling. They give you an egg to crack into it. Honestly I liked the flavors so much but this is definitely more of a "treat" of a restaurant since it's hard to do alone (have to order at least two dishes to do the barbecue option) and it's expensive for what it is!

I paired this with a Thai coffee, which was refreshing and delivered a noticeable caffeine kick. I'll definitely be back to try the kimbap. The protein I got was spicy pork, but you can also choose other proteins. The yolk was still runny enough to mix in and make everything extra rich. The portion was huge. Not too spicy. It also came with miso soup with a few bits of tofu and green onion in it. - Quesadilla: filled with beef and kimchi, with two different sauces drizzled all over (one creamy, one a little spicy). A lot of meat inside! Not too spicy. - Peach limeade: a very refreshing drink, but on the sweeter side, I wish it were a bit more sour. I go to Harvard so this is my local Bonchon, I never come to this location for so many reasons. Initially when I started school in the fall I came here 3 times, 2 of the times the chicken was well undercooked, 3 of the times the staff were beyond rude, I was ignored countless times, and when they would respond the attitude and word choice was obviously intentionally disrespectful. All 3 of the times there were no staff at the counter and I had to yell "excuse me!" More times than I could count on two hands to get somebody to come to the front, unacceptable. Moving to the present day, it's finals week, I'm starving and craving Bonchon per usual, the one location I usually go to is simply too far, instead I decided to take a risk and walk down the street to the Harvard Square location. Initially as I walk in I notice there is, per usual, nobody at the counter, all of the devices were off (tvs and kiosks). I arrived at 8:05, they close at 9. I politely call out, "excuse me!" Repeatedly, so many times. Nobody comes up, I see a girl in the kitchen through the food slot by the registers, I start to call out a bit louder when she is clearly ignoring me, at one point looking up at me and going back to sitting and looking downwards likely at her phone. Eventually my girlfriend has had enough of my graciousness and yells out, "What is going on someone come out here and help us" this was a quite loud remark, impossible to be ignored. Just around a minute or two later some kid comes out staring at his phone with headphones fully on, as I go to order he finally takes off one side of his overear beats headphones and I find out they are out of strips, Classic crunch, and will provide me with salt. Eventually I order 2 bowls which takes 23 minutes for the to prepare, there was nobody else in the restaurant. I could go on about how unpleasant this location is in even further detail but I believe I did an adequate job describing the numerous reasons I will never be returning, I have also never written a review in my entire life until my favorite guy, at my favorite Bonchon location asked if I would. I am only now writing this review as the Bonchon Team responded as appreciated my last message, I hope you appreciate this one equally (obviously in a different way) and seriously enforce some vital changes at this location. The only reason I'm giving this review a single star is due to the fact it has the Bonchon name.

The cheese topokki was just as good as we remembered - chewy, flavorful, comforting, & a little bit weird. The cheese was poorly distributed, but it was still very tasty. The beef bulgogi bowl was really underwhelming. Firstly, it was very little food. We were promised vegetables, but there were only a few scarce onions & zucchini pieces mixed in. It was also dry. It was devoid of moisture & sauce, so we added some from the fridge at home. The side of soup was a joke. It filled only about 2/3 of the container & looked so sad, we wondered if it was the sauce that we we so desperately needed. Nope, just a meager amount of watered down miso soup. So the conclusion - great topokki, sub-par bulgogi, non-existent soup.
