Kokoro sando

A place to find Japanese comfort food! I came here one day looking specifically for a classic Japanese egg sandwich and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Tokyo creamy egg shokupan, and it felt very similar to the egg sandwiches you'd find in a 7/11 in Japan. Simple but delicious with fluffy eggs and a light creamy texture. I also ordered the kokoro sando which tasted more like a classic BEC and would be a better fit for a breakfast sandwich than the Tokyo creamy egg one. As a side I also ordered the steamed edamame which tasted exactly as all edamame from restaurant. Orders are placed on a tablet which gives you time to sort through the menu and decide on what you want. Personally I would have hoped the person that directed us to the tablets could have stopped by/been a bit more available so I could ask for recommendations, but if you already know what you want then the ordering at the kioski vibe is perfect. It is small inside with limited seating so Id plan on either waiting for a spot to open up or have a backup plan on takeout.

I been waiting for sando shops opening in Boston area since I ate one during my last trip to Las Vegas... but ended up disappointment but not sandos, their sushi. The sandos are great for grab and go but their sushi are waste of money due to the portion and quality. For lower price, I can get a better quality and portion in a restaurant. Only sandos are worth it and food are nicely packaged. I order online and pick up, spending over $60, not worth the price if you are considered a comfort food cafe. 1Tamago Sando $7.95 1 Fruit Sando $7.95 1 Kokoro unagi flame roll $19.95 1 Kokoro Volcano Tower $13.95 1 Kokoro Inari - Avocado Salad $3.95 1 Kokoro Inari - Sweet Corn $3.95 1 Kokoro Inari - Spicy Crab $3.95

Got a takeout order and enjoyed most of what we got. The udon noodles were well made, the fruit sando was very fun, the broccoli was really good. Inside it was really cute and the staff was lovely. Would be fun to eat their IRL!

I saw this place on Yelp and was very excited to try it for the first time! There aren't many places in Boston that have Japanese comfort food so this place was at the top of my list. It is a cozy corner spot in Somerville with a very cute interior and very friendly staff. I drove to the area on a Sunday afternoon and had no trouble finding parking. As soon as my friend and I walked in, the staff welcomed us and helped situate us with the menu. They have so many menu items that it took us some time to pick something but we ended up ordering the fruit sando, the sushi bento box, and the pork katsu bento box. The sushi tasted very fresh and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. The fruit sando was also very delicious and it was made with some type of brioche bread. The pork katsu bento box came with some seaweed salad, salmon avocado Maki rolls, some gyoza, and pork katsu over rice. It was the perfect amount of food and each dish was absolute perfection. My only one critique is that I wish the pork katsu had thicker meat pieces but in terms of the proportion of food the bento box was perfect. I will definitely have to go again to try their other menu items!

Absolutely Amazing Experience and Service! I was with my parents and young daughter and we decided to pop in for coffee and a bite. The second we walked in my daughter was greeted by the friendliest staff and they were so engaging and helpful with menu selections! The foods were so yummy and the presentation was so cute! Can't recommend enough and had a wonderful experience!

It was great. As a Japanese person who's eaten a lot in Japan I approve of this place, the atmosphere and the food was perfect.

I personally love eating sushi because I love rolling around my bed and wrapping myself in blankets like a sushi roll. Honestly maybe I'll do it later when I get home, I don't have a date today. Anyways you didn't come here for a rolling around review you came here for a sushi review. I got the pork bun to start and I swear it must have came from an ancient boar, the portion was dinosaur sized. Definitely a steal, please don't raise the price I'm begging you don't take this away from me they already took the kids. I ordered the miso salmon sushi and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff was very apologetic about how I was the only one of 6 to have my order take a little while longer and I don't think they realized I didn't care too much. Maybe I would if I was retired and didn't understand the plight of the working man anymore. I intended on giving the restaurant 5 stars after eating, but the waitress saw me writing the review. I was gonna drop it to 4 for that reason because I thought it was funny but I think they deserved every one of my fun filled shining stars. Come here if you like sushi, it's ALMOST as good as the feeling of evading getting ticketed on the permit only parking spaces you'll need to park at.

Extremely fresh fish with generous portions in a casual, underground space…read more I think this is a reasonably priced establishment for the level of fish (phenomenal) and service (reasonable and attentive, but not like a fancier sit down restaurant) that you get. I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

Did not show up for many many years, suddenly I came here for Miso Ramen and bowl made my day. I ordered Regular size but I should have Large size, they have S, R, and L. Had to finish all soup. Kitchen work is super smooth in Zen spirit, soup and noodle was just perfect. Chashuu did not hit my new favorite bell but still good. Although I could use more green onion without upgrading order. Temperature of the soup and noodle done balanced well, I could not ask more. Shoyu Tsukemen: The tsukemen noodles were much larger than the ramen noodles; a small portion had 200 grams of noodles, which were quite thick and chewy. The chashu叉焼 was stewed until tender, but the broth was extremely oily and had a strong porky smell, which was nauseating. Karaage: It was a little overcooked, but fresh and hot, so it was still pretty good. The sauce was a bit spicy, which was interesting. Aji-tama: The taste was neither good nor bad, but I found eggshell in it. After I reported this, the staff first asked if I had cut myself, and then readily gave me a refund, which was nice.
