Well, there's a reason the private dining pri fixe dining experiences are expensive and sought after. It's because they are amazing. Went with a group of friends as a special experience, booking was private group dining. Each sushi course we learned about historical Japanese food prep ingredients and methods used to produce it, and then were frankly amazed at the flavors and textures. Cozy ambiance tucked away on Cambridge st. All service as well as stories and introductions for each course from chef Chris, it was a one-man show, expertly produced and performed.

Service, premium ingredients, and creativeness put Momi Nonmi in the same league as 311 and Wa Chin. I may prefer this place over both because of the amazing service. I cannot recommend this place more. Please come here! I had the grand slam omakase for $355 for 20 courses . There are options at different price points, but id suggest getting the most expensive option you can afford. It's worth it. Among the best omakase tastings I have had anywhere. Appetizers are a fusion of Japanese and Hawaiian (where chef Chris is from) and omakase is very simple. A stroke of soy sauce on Japanese imported fish, and perfect sushi rice. Chef Chris provides the type of top tier service you will get at any three Michelin star restaurant. He explains every dish, will remember your name and your preferences for the next time you come, which you will, and makes you feel like you're in his house.

We booked omakase (the only dine-in option at Momi Nonmi) and I have to say it was a beautifully delicious experience! 14 courses, starting off with house-made tofu and a miso soup with a fish broth that took 24+ hours. An amazing start before the sushi. The fish used for the omakese is purchased per reservation and is bought the day of your reservation - you are getting the best cut and the freshest ingredients. Some of the ingredients are also shipped privately from Japan. Each nigiri is made right in front of you, with Chef Chris giving you the context and background on each individual piece. The thoughtfulness of his menu is clear in his work and presentation. He combines old school, traditional Japanese methods with modern and eclectic tastes. He also has a Hawaiian background, so you can see that influence come through as well. I know folks would be curious about the price, it's a bit over $200 per person including gratuity. Other than omakase, they do very special take out options that you need to pre-order at least a day in advance. I also received a promo about an uni tasting, so there are also different experiences that come up from time to time. This place is a truly unique spot in the Boston area, and I hope everyone has the opportunity to try it.

I came here late April to take my fiance (at the time) for an omakase dinner. We were the only customers, so we had the full on experience with Chef Chris. It was a great experience. The place was intimate, and you felt like Chef Chris was giving us a show. The food was phenomenal, and he offered a great selection of sake. Before dining, Chef Chris asked what are some favorite pieces of sushi, and he incorporated them in our meal. He also provided great sake recommendations throughout the experience. The place can add up in terms of $$$, but you get what you pay for: an intimate journey that your tastebuds will forever appreciate.

From dine-in omakase to his pandemic pick-ups, I cannot recommend Momi Nonmi enough. Chef Chris is always pushing the envelope with his innovative and creative dishes - this applies to both his handling of sushi/sashimi/nigiri/hand rolls but also his cooked courses as well. He also is very collaborative and oftentimes does crossover collabs with other local chefs - my favorites are his collabs with Derrick Teh of Sekali!

The start of the nigiris - Chef Chris table side service!

Despite the price tag, I would still consider this a "no frill" omakase experience. But this is deserving of the 5-star for the quality, execution, and service. The two times that I have dined in, Chef Chris has personally served us himself, making each the nigiri table side. Each time we have gone the course have all been different, he is creative with the starters/appetizers using seasonal ingredients and those that will balance out the fish later in the meal. When he starts on the fish courses, he brings out his bucket of rice (best sushi rice I have ever had), his little cup of fresh wasabi made from the actual plant not the mass produced tubes that you can buy at the supermarket, and a bowl of soy sauce. He incorporates a tiny dab of the wasabi and a brush of the soy sauce directly into the nigiri so its all there in that bite. There was way too many fish names for me to remember them all but I loved the variety and when you book with him he will usually ask you if you have a favorite fish and he will try to have more of that fish for your experience. I describe this as no frill because he doesn't garnish with much, everything is simple thoughtful ingredients yet they pack a punch of delicious flavors. I love the experience and the food and appreciate what Chef Chris does and will most definitely be back for more!

I came here for a date night after Valentine's Day! We made reservations a week before and it was only us and another table for 2 when we were there. I liked how it was a more intimate omakase experience where the chef explained everything (background, taste, where he got his sashimi from) and it was one on one which I have not had at other omakase places! We had 14 nigiris and they were very fresh and yummy! The only thing is I thought the nigiris were on the smaller side. We also had an oyster with uni and miso soup (probably the best miso soup I've had! So much flavor!). We also ordered a bottle of sake to go with everything and the chef told us the background of different bottles of sake for us to choose from which I thought was nice! Overall it was a great experience even though it is expensive for the amount of food you get.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic omakase dinner at Momi Nonmi. Chef Chris Chung serves modern Izakaya food with a Hawaiian twist. The food is gluten-free, light, and (relatively) healthy. Although there were a few misses, I thought that the flavor profiles that night were generally unique and interesting. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are in search for authentic Japanese food. If you're up for something a little more creative though, definitely check it out!

Before I start, yes you're going to spend more here than you will at a run of the mill everyday sushi restaurant. This is a special occasion meal, a treat yourself meal. Friends and I came here for omakase during COVID restrictions, which meant that we had the entire restaurant for indoor seating to ourselves at the time. I'm not sure if that's still the rule but it was pretty awesome to essentially have a private chef situation. The chef, by the way, is clearly incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful about food, but also is incredibly kind and hard working! We had to pre-order the meal we wanted and gave our preferences. We did all of that via instagram which was fine. There were different price levels as well. Now for the food: yes! It was unlike any meal I had ever had. It was delicious. I can hardly explain it. The sushi was incredibly fresh and, yes, delicious. The other dishes was so good. My favorite dish was a lightly poached egg with salmon roe in a strawberry yeast sake. I can't even explain how good this was. The meal ended with a miso caramel ice cream that was quite possibly the best ice cream we had ever had. We even tried to convince the chef to sell it by the pint! Overall, yes it's worth it!

Came here for an anniversary dinner, and Chef Chris went above and beyond what I even knew was possible for a dining experience. Chef Chris reached out via email to confirm reservation, also provided a sake list (both bottles that we ordered were delightful), as well as asked about our favorite pieces of sushi, all of which he incorporated into our meal. All parts of our meal were excellent, starters down to the final pieces of nigiri. Selections included toro, uni, salmon, and so much more. Intimate explanations of each course, which make for a great experience. Truly a fantastic meal. Pricey options (premium nigiri and two bottles of sake plus tip came to $550+) but I've never experienced an instance where paying this premium was worth it without a shred of a doubt. Thank you Chef Chris!

Raindrop dessert is here in the USA! One of the latest trends in Japanese desserts is in Boston and I couldn't wait to try it. Momi nonmi seats around 30 people, mostly at small tables. I would recommend hopping over asap to try them about before they start getting packed. Went for brunch Sunday and tried the loco moco, tuna poke, deconstructed oyako dip, okonomiyaki, and raindrop dessert. Favorite was the okonomiyaki because I personally have a traditionalist preference and the okonomiyaki was the most traditionally Japanese out of the four mains. There was so much seafood in the okonomiyaki and I couldn't be happier. Fresh baby scallops, mussel meat, baby shrimp, squid, sometimes multiple in each bite. Overall pros: very delectable sauces that came with each dish, very fun (probably the loco moco on a sizzling hot place taking the cake on "fun", very happy the chef insisted on having the sauce poured at the table), and chock full of the good stuff aka the worth-it stuff like tuna in the poke and seafood in okonomiyaki Overall cons: dish sizes are small so definitely a group (a small group) is a good idea try multiple dishes, the brunch menu and lunch menu are a little limited (dinner packs the most punch but also the most $), tight space so get cozy if there's lots of people Reservations can be made on Yelp!

Lovely, unique, and simply delicious, Momi Nonmi is the type of place that just feels special. Walk through the exterior curtain and come inside. We had a reservation for 1PM on a Saturday and were seated right away in the quaint space. Our server was very helpful in describing the different drinks, including some unique-sounding sakes! I went for the first option in the pour-over format, where he pours from the bottle into a glass cup which is sitting within a box, so that the sake flows a bit over the sides of the glass and the run-over is caught in the box. Very cool presentation, even if I couldn't exactly figure out how to gracefully drink the liquid in the box. The sake itself was delightful, slightly warm with a clean flavor and hints of banana. We saw that most of the tables had a bento box, so we asked our server what was in it. He explained that the contents of the bento "changes by the minute" according to the chef's preferences! He was able to name a few things ours was likely to have, and we ordered it right away. It's an ideal way to get to sample some of the chef's best and most innovative bites! We also ordered the Loco Moco which is a beef patty over white rice topped with a fried egg. The mushroom sauce is poured over the top at the table and sizzles on the hot pan. The video is very Insta-worthy! And the flavor was great: simple while being comforting and just made well. The bento was a thing of beauty. Another one for the IG! Ours contained 9 delectable morsels including sashimi, tofu, fried chicken (our waiter's fave), a croquette, mussel soup, and ahi tuna. It was a great combination of raw and cooked, and it felt light while still being filling. Just writing this review makes me want to go back and sample what other delights the chef has dreamed up! Om nom nom.

I really enjoyed the unique omakase experience from this place. You have to make reservations ahead so definitely plan accordingly, as the chef orders his fish based on what "tier" you reserve. We went with the premium! Every cut of fish was so fresh and delicious!!! It's a small place and Chef Chris makes every piece of fish right in front of you. He does this while explaining each piece and making it a personable experience. With the limited omakase options in Boston, this one definitely is worth trying!

Everything here is really good, but I highly recommend the nigiri - while it's a little pricy (standard pricing comparative to other restaurants), it is well worth it Service is quite fast and we felt like we were taken care of. One time, the server took the soy sauce bottle away from one table without warning and gave it to us, and then proceeded to do the same to us. However, in this rare case, the food quality and taste overpowered the service issues. Inside is lively, and cozy. They also have outdoor patio seating in the summer, which is lovely as well. This is a restaurant I wouldn't mind coming to over and over again.

On a wet, rainy Boston evening we thought hot ramen would be just the thing. The menu is built around locally-sourced ingredients structured in three categories: sharable, sushi, and ramen. They also offer a slate of Japanese beers and Nihonshu. We started with hot Nihonshu but the only choice served warm is Gekkeikan. Now, Gekkeikan is a standard Nihonshu which is a good, if not great, rice wine. And while Gekkeikan started in Kyoto, anything served in the US with its label is actually brewed in California. We wanted the Nambu Bijin served warm but were told that was not an option. Nanbu Bijin is a great varietal from Iwate Prefecture which was our preference. It's odd that this is only offered chilled. We really urge the management to serve all of its Nihonshu warmed. For shareables we ordered the shishito, spicy salmon, and torotaku. The shishito were nicely roasted and served with a light ponzu. The quality of the peppers was eceptional and the serving was generous. The sushi is served as a hand held wrapped in nori and features tsukemono. The spicy salmon was an amply portioned but the torotaku was a bit lean in terms of quantity. Having said which, all three apps were tasty and of superior quality. Bosso offers a compelling number of Ramens that differentiate not on broth, which is customary, but on degree of spice and the choice of meats. The broth here is a superb tonkotsu that would pass muster in Sapporo. Bosso also offers just one size which, in the event, was a more than satisfactory serving. We both opted for the umami version which is generously portioned with scallions and kikurage. The boiled egg was done to perfection - that happy place between a hard and soft boiled yolk. The pok was tasty but was wanting in terms of quantity. Each bowl included two very thin slices. At the end of the day, a great ramen should have more pork - either chasu or kakuni - so we found this to be a disappointment. Our server is from Shizuoka and we enjoyed hearing of her journey from Japan to Cambridge. She was attentive without being obtrusive. The interior is dark and practical and somewhat reminiscent of some of the great hole in the wall ramen shops we frequented in Tokyo. Overall, despite some blemishes, Bosso was an enjoyable meal and we will definitely make our way back in the future. It is busy so we recommend making reservations.

However, the seating is uncomfortable, for sure for the large parties. There were 8 of us, and we were perched on the uncomfortable high chairs. Food is okay, nothing exciting.
