This place advertises the "Best vegetarian/vegan restaurant in America", and they 100% deserve it. Even when a plant-based alternative does not taste quite like a meat product, they find a way to make it taste amazing. Literally my only issue is that the cakes and frappes are too sweet. They are also generally very good at accommodating allergies, as they have full ingredient lists for almost their entire menu (every menu item can be made milk and egg free), including cross-contamination notes. They also have many customers with allergies due to their vegan-friendly nature, so are very willing to answer questions. read more

If you have ever had a veggie burger and didn't like it, it was because you didn't eat here. To be honest there aren't a lot of vegetarian dishes that taste good for me, but everything they have here has been amazing. I say this because I have been here multiple times and everything I order or the people who are with me order, has always been amazing. Sometimes they have outdoor seating and we always sit outside if seating there is available, but this time they hadn't setup the outside yet, but they had plenty of seating for 2 inside. Another thing I mention on all my reviews is if a restaurant serves you water when you sit without asking. Well here they do and they were following our glasses as we were sitting. This is definitely a place to go to even if you aren't vegetarian.. actually especially if you aren't so you can find out how good some vegetarian dishes can be. I came to Veggie Galaxy with some friends and family while visiting Boston. It's a pretty cool space -- old school diner aesthetic in everything from decor to the menus. The service was good, but it did take a bit to get seated and get our food as we were a large group. There was also a miscommunication for some people in our group as the kitchen ran out of some things and only told them after they ordered and were waiting. I ordered the grilled chicken Rasta pasta (which was a special for the week). My sister ordered some soup. Both were delicious. The portions are GIGANTIC so I would maybe order something smaller next time, but man that pasta was delicious. The "chicken" was perfectly fried, and the pasta was well seasoned. I would maybe add a bit of heat by it that's a small complaint. I love this place, and will be back next time I'm in Boston! read more

This diner has become our annual post-Boston Marathon tradition. It offers hearty vegan options after a heavy effort day. Whether you ran or ran around chasing your marathon runner, or you tireless held a sign all morning screaming your heart out, Veggie Grill delivers on soul-quenching food that will send you home with a happy belly! Comforting, tasty and filling. The vibe just makes you feel at home. Since becoming vegan, diners have become a place where I know I'll be getting a fruit cup, toast and a side of avocado... Not really a place I would be dying to visit but such is not the case at Veggie Galaxy!!! Vegans, vegetarians and food lovers all have something to enjoy here! Veggie Galaxy offers an expansive menu, the kind that leaves you feeling super indecisive and you just order too much food. It's perfect for the weary traveler/marathoner since you'll have leftovers to enjoy in the middle of the night! Our party ordered way too much food, we didn't have room for dessert (unless you count the entire round of milkshakes we ordered!). Since becoming vegan, milkshakes have become such a rare thing. It's awesome they have so many flavor options here and Veggie Galaxy will mix and make whatever your heart desires! For those who are vegans and vegetarians, this place is not only an amazing option, but they are very good overall about accommodating dietary restrictions. When we once shared about a soy intolerance we did sadly learn that a large amount of items are made with soy or soy milk, but the staff was previously very helpful. This time the wait was a lot longer than they'd shared at the start, and the waitress was forgetful of multiple items unfortunately. I usually get the chopped cheese with the cheese sauce instead of the cheese slices (as was recommended to me the first time I went there by someone who works there), but this time oddly she told me they do not do a cheese sauce on this item. Regardless, the food was fantastic, great portions, and arrived very quickly. The portions are also generous and definitely lasted us two meals. The greens with the Mac and cheese were a bit sad but otherwise their sides are usually great. The diner style decor and varied menu are a great option for any vegans or vegetarians. I have friends who have moved out of Cambridge/boston for over 5 years now and anytime they visit the one place they ask to go eat at is Veggie Galaxy! read more

A fantastic vegan diner experience, with delicious food and excellent service. Seating was in booths or at a bar, and everything was clean. I loved the diner / space theme, and they managed to really pull it off. We went on a Tuesday night, around 7pm. They were busy, but we were seated quickly & our food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. Our server was friendly & attentive, but didn't hover. For drinks, I got a Chocolate Martini (heavy on both the chocolate & the etoh--incredible), and my parter got the Bloody Mars (he gave it 3/5 stars). For entrees, I HAD to order the vegan Mac n' Stack, a ridiculous (but delicious) chicken sandwich with mac & cheese waffles as the bun. I ended up eating it with a knife & a fork (because it was so tall I couldn't fit a bit in my mouth), and I can't emphasize enough how amazing it was. The coleslaw it came with was creamy and paired excellently. My partner got one of the vegan eggs benefit, made with their vegan egg replacement. He liked it (gave it 3.5/5 stars), but agreed that the Mac n' Stack was the best thing we tried. We were so full that we couldn't try out their desserts, but I know we'll be back to get some of the cheesecake (and also, of course, to try more of the sandwiches!). Food was absolutely delicious! Location is decent, with meter parking, the restaurant gives 1950's diner vibes! Service was slow, I will admit. The host was sitting down chatting with the cooks a lot before she even noticed I was waiting to be seated at the podium and ended up being my server and I had to flag her over for a Togo box, napkins, and my check because she kept being by the cooks talking, hence me giving 4/5 stars because if that weren't the case, it would've been Aced by the food hands down! Service was great, everyone here is so nice! But, if you have an all veg/vegan restaurant, it would be nice to have more than 5% of your menu have actual vegetables. This place is mostly faux meats with very little actual veg. The thing that really bummed me out was the $8.99 price for a piece of majorly disappointing cake. They have a dessert display and everything looked amazing. I got the cinnamon roll cake slice that was freshly cut as I watched, but it was somehow hard and dry despite being excessively soaked in sugar syrup. Super disappointing. It has been a few years since I went back to Veggie Galaxy. In that time new owners, menu and staff. Walking out I yelled to the kitchen "Betta than ever". Service which used to be pokey was speedy and polite, especially by Boston standards. Drinks came out quickly and perfectly. The tea I ordered was loose and in a tea ball and the water was just hot enough. Appetizers were Brussel sprouts, well grilled and yet not over cooked. We also got the tator tots that were amazing -- crispy! I had the Blue Plate Special, a Chanukah plate -- braised brisket (really seitan) with two latkes and veggies. I could have eaten 6 of the latkes. My son had a veggie burger and devoured it. The ambiance was professional but chill. Very Cambridge -- in all the good ways. Had an amazing brunch here last weekend with my family! We had a pretty large group that included a couple of kids and thankfully they do a fantastic job of catering to children's tastes. There are truly dishes for everyone here! And even better, everything on the menu can be made vegan, with many vegans default vegan. We started with some loaded fries for the table, which was such a hit. We all couldn't stop raving about the homemade vegan queso sauce which was so creamy and luscious along with the meaty bites. The waffle fries were very crispy and perfectly salted. I ordered my go to stuffed French toast which is such a fun and unique dish with its decadent cream cheese filling and covered in a lovely berry mixture and airy coconut whipped cream. I also tried some of my niece's Nutella waffle which was spectacular. Their homemade hazelnut butter is so rich and chocolatey, I never would have guessed it was vegan! Since I wanted something boozy, I got a their boozy frappe which was a mixture of sherry, coconut ice cream and chai spice. It was so decadent and left me feeling warm and gleeful! The first time I went here, I was blown away by how many amazing touches from salad dressings to potato salad and of course the desserts or anything that I've tried before. Now have been back a few times have tried The "fried clams", pumpkin pie, and my favorite go to the Rachel. This last time I went for the Thanksgiving dinner, which was kind of a miss, because they ran out of cranberry sauce and gravy. Which to me vegan or otherwise is a dealbreaker. I don't know if it was the holiday rush, but I found the gentleman greeter to be kinda condescending. And if it wasn't such an effort for me to get there, I would've walked out. What a find! Veggie Galaxy has the best banana pancakes - Jack Johnson would approve. They were fluffy and crisp on the edges and served with caramelized banana and whipped coconut cream. No syrup needed. Just what I needed after an early flight. My server Hannah was great, and she turned me on to the seitan sausage (made in-house). I was staying close by on a trip to Boston, and this place came highly recommended by a family member. We decided to check it out Sunday around noon and ended up doing take-out because the dine-in line was outrageously long, extending outside. We were able to pick up our food in less than 15 minutes. We tried the chick'n and waffles ($17), and the meatball sub ($17, made vegan with no additional cost) with fries (additional $2). The seitan chick'n was delicious and tender, perfect with the gravy, while the waffles were slightly sweet. There was a bit of inadvertent mixing of the gravy and syrup on the waffle which was a rather disgusting combination, but either one or the other on the waffle was excellent! The meatball sub had a smokey flavor which we didn't mind. The fries were a perfect texture of slightly crisp but still soft. While the food was amazing, I'd be interested in dining in to experience the ambiance as the diner looks quite cozy inside. read more

This is a place that I keep coming back to over and over again because I want to get excellent food when I spend my money. Veggie galaxy has knocked it out of the park with this Tuesday Fried Clams (oyster mushroom) special. I've come in a few times as a solo diner and I'm quickly seated and welcomed with a glass of water and a menu. The first time I came here I tried the Banh Mi blue plate special. It was incredible. I was so nourished and I enjoyed every bite. The slaw was perfect and the sandwich blew me away. The next time I got veggie Galaxy, I got takeout for a cauliflower po boy. Which is the dish I kept coming to try but I got distracted by other awesome options. The cauliflower po-boy was spicy and crunchy and so flavorful even after a 45-minute car ride. The slaw is really good and I would not suggest subbing it out for something because it's not too sweet and it's very juicy and it's very crunchy and you get that nice fiber boost of the cabbage. What I really love about veggie Galaxy is it isn't trying to be healthy. It's trying to be amazing. And it totally succeeds in being a stupendous delicious experience. The establishment itself is very clean and you can tell that the owners are present and the managers are working and people are happy. I think maybe the up charge that you pay for an establishment like this where each dish is $17 just about is that you pay for happy staff and a good place. 10/10 would recommend all the things I've tried.
