A fantastic vegan diner experience, with delicious food and excellent service. Seating was in booths or at a bar, and everything was clean. I loved the diner / space theme, and they managed to really pull it off. We went on a Tuesday night, around 7pm. They were busy, but we were seated quickly & our food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. Our server was friendly & attentive, but didn't hover. For drinks, I got a Chocolate Martini (heavy on both the chocolate & the etoh--incredible), and my parter got the Bloody Mars (he gave it 3/5 stars). For entrees, I HAD to order the vegan Mac n' Stack, a ridiculous (but delicious) chicken sandwich with mac & cheese waffles as the bun. I ended up eating it with a knife & a fork (because it was so tall I couldn't fit a bit in my mouth), and I can't emphasize enough how amazing it was. The coleslaw it came with was creamy and paired excellently. My partner got one of the vegan eggs benefit, made with their vegan egg replacement. He liked it (gave it 3.5/5 stars), but agreed that the Mac n' Stack was the best thing we tried. We were so full that we couldn't try out their desserts, but I know we'll be back to get some of the cheesecake (and also, of course, to try more of the sandwiches!). Overall, this was everything I want out of a vegan dining experience. The vibe was so fun--didn't feel the food was both classic & creative, and they had so many amazing options. Can't wait to come back!
For those who are vegans and vegetarians, this place is not only an amazing option, but they are very good overall about accommodating dietary restrictions. When we once shared about a soy intolerance we did sadly learn that a large amount of items are made with soy or soy milk, but the staff was previously very helpful. This time the wait was a lot longer than they'd shared at the start, and the waitress was forgetful of multiple items unfortunately. I usually get the chopped cheese with the cheese sauce instead of the cheese slices (as was recommended to me the first time I went there by someone who works there), but this time oddly she told me they do not do a cheese sauce on this item. Regardless, the food was fantastic, great portions, and arrived very quickly. The portions are also generous and definitely lasted us two meals. The greens with the Mac and cheese were a bit sad but otherwise their sides are usually great. The diner style decor and varied menu are a great option for any vegans or vegetarians. I have friends who have moved out of Cambridge/boston for over 5 years now and anytime they visit the one place they ask to go eat at is Veggie Galaxy!
Food was absolutely delicious! Location is decent, with meter parking, the restaurant gives 1950's diner vibes! Service was slow, I will admit. The host was sitting down chatting with the cooks a lot before she even noticed I was waiting to be seated at the podium and ended up being my server and I had to flag her over for a Togo box, napkins, and my check because she kept being by the cooks talking, hence me giving 4/5 stars because if that weren't the case, it would've been Aced by the food hands down! I ate every last piece of food even after I took some home because it was somewhat of a big sandwich. Overall, I'd return but to take my food to go.
Veggie Galaxy is always a win. Every meal here feels comforting and reliable, especially with how many eggless options they have, it makes ordering so easy. Tried the pancake for the first time and it was so good. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Pro tip: order a savory dish and add a single pancake on the side for something sweet. Best of both worlds. Staff is friendly and quick, and the food is consistently yummy.
Veggie Galaxy completely blew me away. I'm vegetarian (and usually pretty picky about vegan substitutes), but this place nailed every single dish we tried. We came for brunch and ordered the vegan eggs Benedict, a chocolate chip pancake, the vegan biscuits and gravy, and their wild vegan chicken sandwich that uses mac-and-cheese waffles as the "bread." Yes, it's exactly as insane and amazing as it sounds. The vegan Benedict was rich and comforting without being heavy, and the chocolate chip pancake was perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The biscuits and gravy tasted like true comfort food--super flavorful, no weird aftertaste that some vegan gravies have. But honestly, the mac-and-cheese waffle chicken sandwich stole the show. It's one of those dishes you try once and immediately start planning when you can come back for it again. Service was friendly, the vibe was super cute, and the whole menu is creative in a way that doesn't feel gimmicky--it's actually delicious. If you're in Boston and want vegan brunch that goes way beyond "just okay," Veggie Galaxy is a must. I loved it.
I came to Cambridge just to go to Veggie Galaxy! I've been vegan for many years & am so delighted at their extensive menu of plant-based options. Really yummy teas & drinks too. Everyone is very nice - servers are kind, diners are happy to be there. I hope every city aspires to satisfy the vegan / vegetarian as well as Veggie Galaxy consistently does!!!
Veggie Galaxy has been on my list of restaurants to visit for a while. My boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner and got some plates to share. The food came out very quickly after we ordered and the waitress was quite nice. The food was very good. The mac and cheese itself was delicious but the "pepperoni" was very plain in taste. I would definitely get the mac and cheese again, but without the pepperoni. The sandwich and burgers were also very good. You get a lot of food for what you pay for so it's a great place to go if you're very hungry.
One of the top vegetarian spots I've eaten at. Lots of options and combinations are insane. Had: Far east with chicken (9/10) Pesto Chik'n Parm sand (10/10) Carrot cake (7.5/10) Chocolate Chip cookies (6/10)
My partner tries to eat vegan when she can, so I'm always looking for the best places. This is THE BEST PLACE. Veggie Galaxy is a veggie paradise. Every dish is delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Their meat substitutes are amazingly good. I couldn't even tell my milkshake wasn't made with milk. This place will make any vegan food skeptic eat their words.
My partner and I have gone here so many times we've lost count. It is easily our favorite restaurant. We would recommend this place to anyone. Great service, great food, and a cool diner vibe. Ps. Try the Mac and cheese bites, they're delicious!
We came here to try their vegan food. This place serves eggs and dairy cheese, so it's vegetarian, but it appears that anything can be made vegan. We got the Mac 'N Stack with potato salad and the Buffalo Chicken Burger, substituting with fries. It was served well and tasted good! This place is essentially a veggie diner, which was cool. The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly. There is plenty of seating inside and there appears to be a patio area outside as well. Although we didn't get dessert, we saw others get some and it looked awesome! (Confetti cake!) I would recommend this place.
It has been a few years since I went back to Veggie Galaxy. In that time new owners, menu and staff. Walking out I yelled to the kitchen "Betta than ever". Service which used to be pokey was speedy and polite, especially by Boston standards. Drinks came out quickly and perfectly. The tea I ordered was loose and in a tea ball and the water was just hot enough. Appetizers were Brussel sprouts, well grilled and yet not over cooked. We also got the tator tots that were amazing -- crispy! I had the Blue Plate Special, a Chanukah plate -- braised brisket (really seitan) with two latkes and veggies. I could have eaten 6 of the latkes. My son had a veggie burger and devoured it. The ambiance was professional but chill. Very Cambridge -- in all the good ways. Better than ever -- do go early as they do not accept reservations.
Great place to come for veggie comfort food. We ordered the blueberry pancakes, totchos (veganized), and a Greek salad (veganized). The Greek salad was fine, pretty basic. Very heavy on the spinach. The totchos were delicious and the portion is enormous, extremely shareable. My husband liked his pancakes. The service was a little slow, I never got my soda refilled and it took absolutely forever to get the check. I would still certainly return to try more of their dishes. read more

I've been here two times so far, and both times I've been impressed! The decor is really cute and gives off the vibes of an old-school diner. Veggie Galaxy is terrific if you're dining with people who may have dietary restrictions or simply if you just want vegetarian or vegan food. This place gets really busy on weekends for breakfast and brunch, so be prepared for a wait. We got there on a Saturday around 12:30 PM and the wait for a table of 2 was nearly an hour. With that being said, the wait is definitely worth it. By the time we were seated, I was STARVING. I over-ordered food because everything sounded so good and the prices were pretty affordable (especially for the area). The portions are large which was a pleasant surprise. In terms of appetizers, our waitress recommended the Vegan Mac & Cheese Bites and Potato Salad. I loved the Sriracha Aioli that came with the Mac & Cheese Bites; I even added it to the super garlicky potato salad! I've also gotten their Brussels sprouts which were drenched with a delicious Sriracha agave glaze and ranch dressing drizzle. In terms of entrees, I've gotten the French Toast and their waffle. I definitely recommend their super fluffy and soft French Toast. It comes with a sweet banana butter and maple syrup. I would definitely recommend adding on their coconut whipped cream for $1.50 as well. Their waffle wasn't anything too special, it sort of just tasted like a regular waffle you could get anywhere. The menu also says waffles, so I thought I was getting multiple waffles, but it ended up being one large waffle, which was interesting. Overall, this place is amazing! Regardless if you're vegetarian or vegan, you have to stop by here to try out their delicious eats. They also have sweet treats that look really tasty -- that'll be the next thing that I try! read more

Came hungry, ate down. The vibe is crazy space vegetable go on an adventure to become meat - basically fun old space diner ambiance!! So fun! The bathroom is a really unsettling bright green so don't come here for the bathroom come for the food, though it was clean dw - service was so nice and they were all very friendly!! Gave us good suggestions for our indecisive group so that was helpful, was lit epic and they were so chill with us sitting for a whilee, a must go if you are veggie or not veggietarian! After all our meat eater friend (who literally eats a stack of 20 ham deli slices in every meal) enjoyed the fake meat to good extent! read more

Always fun to visit when you're in the Boston area. A huge diner menu, with all day breakfast and both vegetarian and vegan options. I've tried the meatball sub and the chopped cheese sandwich, and both were super tasty and delicious. Both times I've gone with a meat eater, who was shocked at how good the vegetarian food was. They also have a number of different cakes and other dessert options at the front that look really good, one of these days I will try one of those! Service is fast and friendly, with a classic diner ambiance in the middle of Cambridge. Portions are generous, so you will not leave hungry. read more
Love veggie galaxy! This is quickly becoming my favorite place to meet up with any of my vegetarian and vegan friends in Boston. The vibe is diner with booth seating and retro atmosphere, serving up classics like burgers and sandwiches, breakfast all day, and other entrees like Mac and cheese. The menu is extensive! I recently tried their cheesy fries off the sides menu and it blew my socks off. The vegan cheese sauce was delicious and perfect to kick my late night snack craving. Even if you don't care for "fake meat" vegetarian/vegan dishes, the fries and tater tots here are a must-try! Two of us stopped by for a weeknight dinner. We ordered an orange creamsicle ($6.99), galaxy burger ($13.99) with cheese (+$1.50), and Harlem-style chopped cheese hero ($14.99). Instead of getting the default potato salad or slaw with the entrees we subbed them for fries and tater tots (+$2 each) which was a great decision! My lactose intolerant belly appreciates that the floats and desserts here are all vegan. Since the ice cream used in the float is coconut milk-based it adds a coconut flavor to the float, which took me by surprise but went well with the orange soda base. I thought the flavors of the burger and chopped cheese hero were pretty good as the vegetarian versions. If I were to try to eat less meat and craving those items I would feel satisfied. The fries and tater tots were especially good! Both were fried to a crispy perfection on the outside while staying fluffy on the inside. They were also seasoned well and did not need any ketchup or other flavor. The prices here are reasonable and the portions are quite big. PSA for the week of the 11th! Veggie Galaxy's breakfast sandwiches are $1 this week between 9 and 11am. I tried the egg and cheese and it was very yummy and certainly well worth the dollar. Pretty heavy and greasy but that fits the dinner vibes so I don't mind. Garlic mayo added a nice extra touch. Service was friendly and prompt. Coffee was very good - bonus points for being bottomless. Will happily come back and pay full price. read more
Super incredible vegan/vegetarian diner! I'm vegan and this is definitely a new go to spot for me in Cambridge. I came here with a friend around 5pm on a Saturday night, and we were able to get seats at the counter immediately. All the staff and waiters were super welcoming and friendly. The interior is clean and inviting, and the whole place gives off Pizza Planet from Toy Story vibes. I had the vegan reuben, which was absolutely delicious. I tried the cheese and seitan beef separately and individually they were honestly a little odd, but the sandwich altogether was amazing. The slaw on the side was nice and tangy as well. Prices are not too high for the amount of food. Highly recommend! read more
The restaurant has a really cool diner vibe that's really inviting. The location is in a desirable area around Central Square, street parking is limited. The staff is really friendly and the menu was very creative. The Mac N Stack was pretty good with the seitan chicken and tempah bacon. It didn't have the same texture or taste of the meats it aimed to replicate and should be seen as a different type of protein. Even if you're not vegan or vegetarian, this place has something for you. read more

I missed Veggie Galaxy my first visit to Boston, however, I made up for it my second visit. The menu is amazing, the food is so good, and the dessert...I should have gotten two. A friend an I shared the buffalo potato skins, mac&cheese, went back for a breakfast burrito and dessert and thought about going back one more time. If you have a chance, the peanut butter pie was to die for. So good. Loved the diner feel and fun decor. Make this place a priority for sure! read more
Though the restaurant looks like it would be a vegan haven, the food was pretty lackluster. I don't think there was one single item that impressed. For example, in the nachos, I didn't enjoy the sour cream component which tasted too garlicky and flavored for me. The burger and "Steak" & Cheese Sub were nothing too exciting, as well as the Boston Cream Pie which tasted like a frozen stored dessert. I even was holding out hope for the onion rings that can come as a side but they weren't cooked well either and the onion flavor itself didn't come through. I expect more from this kind of restaurant -- though everything was eatable and not necessarily horrible, still the food was not thoroughly enjoyable. I wonder if it was because they're so busy that they have to focus on quantity over quality, especially when we came around dinner time. For the money, the portion sizes are big but the quality is not there just yet. read more

Vegan and vegetarian diner with plenty of options if you prefer whole food or mock meats. I was here a few years ago and had a veggie burger that wasn't particularly memorable but recently came back and tried the cauliflower po boy. Fries that came with the sandwich were delicious and fresh, but I didn't love the cornmeal batter on the cauliflower. Maybe it was the cornmeal or the way they were cooked but the batter kept sticking to my teeth similar to how air fried or baked foods get instead of a deep fry crunch. I also wished there were some pickles or fresh component that would cut through all the carbs. Nonetheless I had a positive experience and will definitely be back sooner than last time! read more

Delicious meal once again! Enjoyed dinner here and service was unbelievably fast, despite being a full house! Best restaurant style vegan "chick'n tenders! It's so nice to go out for dinner as a vegan, and have a full dessert menu too! Veggie Galaxy is quickly becoming our favorite, local, vegan spot! read more

Visiting Boston, we went to Veggie Galaxy to get some lunch and see Cambridge. The inside is a nice, retro diner with your red stools and 50's decor. The menu is substantive to the point that it can be overwhelming since normally you're used to picking between 1-2 options on the menu. Service was fine on a busy Sunday. I ordered the chopped cheese sandwich, and she had the club sandwich. 10/10 would recommend. I would give this a 4.8/5.0. The fries are standard. read more
My husband and I were here for lunch the other day. Very busy place with lots of customers (old and new). Seems like a local hot spot for really good diner style food! So nice to see an establishment that is vegetarian friendly be bustling and successful. We arrived at around 11:45 AM and there was about a 30 min wait. The bar was packed, the tables were all filled, the kitchen was busy. We were able to glance at the menu while waiting for our table. Once our table was ready we ordered the following items: Crispy Brussels Sprouts - crisped brussels sprouts with a Sriracha agave glaze and ranch dressing drizzle (I had my ranch dressing on the side). I also ordered a Side of Baked Tofu and Side of Tofu-Scramble (for protein). I enjoyed my brussels but they were a little too greasy for me to finish. Lots of flavor though! My husband ordered the Chick'n & Waffles. It included their house-made fried seitan chick'n on a waffle served with real maple syrup and southern gravy. He had the southern gravy on the side. He truly enjoyed his meal, very fulfilling and delicious! Overall - a good experience. Lots of people seem to enjoy it here and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family! Can understand why this place is so busy- great food! Next time - will have to try their desserts. Seeing the cakes and smoothies and shakes going by us made us want to try it the next time! One of my favorite restaurants in the state since moving here ~15 years ago and the one I've probably been to the most, far and away. All the incredible diner food you could want veganized: burgers, pastas, sandwiches, mozz sticks, salads, soups, gyro, chopped cheese, poutine, frappes, desserts -- you name it, they probably have it. The menu is vast and always difficult to choose from (in a good way), and then you throw the blue plates on top of that...you come back time and time again to eat through the menu. This was a nice place to get brunch with friends. Their menu prices are not bad and not everything is vegan so you can still get eggs for brunch. Even so, I still appreciate their vegetarian take on club sandwich, which used tofu and beans. This place is also good to take people who are vegetarian because they have a wide selection of vegetarian options. They seemed to be busy on the day we went, so service was a bit slow, but they made sure to check on us a few times during the meal to see if we needed anything. Also as an fyi: They don't seat you unless your entire group is here so you won't be able to "save a table" for any latecomers. I also love the restaraunt's vibe. Ok, it pains me to write this because I was so excited to try out Veggie Galaxy, but my insides are forcing my hand. We got the Cajun cauliflower, buffalo wings, brussels sprouts, and I got the vegan Big Mac Mac and cheese and a side of Cole slaw. The others at our table got the Reuben, chopped cheese and the galaxy burger. Everyone thought their food was pretty good, and frankly I thought my dish tasted good as well but it very quickly set off alarm bells in my stomach (you know the rest) which lasted for several DAYS. I thought it was just me but unfortunately others in my party said the same happened to them after as well. So, while I am all for a vegetarian/vegan hotspot and love supporting local businesses, unfortunately Veggie Galaxy wasn't for me. read more
Classic American diner-style food with retro vibes, and everything is vegetarian! I was impressed by the large menu with a variety of dishes that can be made vegan, and I was even more impressed by the food. I ordered the southwestern breakfast burrito and my partner ordered the great galaxy breakfast sandwich. The seitan on the burrito was incredible - perfectly seasoned and super delicious! I loved the guac and pickled jalapeños in the burrito, and the homefries were crisp and had a nice rosemary flavor. The great galaxy breakfast sandwich was great as well; I loved the flavor of the garlic mayo. The hostess and the servers were very friendly, and they were knowledgeable about the variety's menu options. Would definitely go out of my way to stop by again whenever I'm visiting Boston! read more

I walked past this restaurant on Mass. Ave for a couple years and never thought to go in...until now. And now I realize what've I've been missing out on. Veggie galaxy has lots of cool vegetarian and vegan twists on entrees that typically have meat in them (poutine, chicken and waffles, Big Mac Mac and cheese, etc.) They can also make items vegan by substituting the dairy products out with non-dairy alternatives. We ordered poutine for the table, which was warm and cheesy. My only critique is that the fries were on the soggier side- I would've preferred a crispier bite. The Brussels Sprouts were HEAVENLY! Some of the best Brussels I've had, with no hints of bitterness, crispy, and topped off with a slightly sweet and tangy sauce. Gotta try this when visiting! For my main dish, I got the Big Mac Mac and cheese. I thought it could use a bit more salt and spice, but still comforting nonetheless. Finally, the service was great- very patient splitting up our checks! Overall, 4.5/5, great execution on cool vegetarian/vegan dishes! read more

Now I'm no vegetarian, but Veggie Galaxy came very close to converting me! A regular visitor to Cambridge, MA, I couldn't wait to try this new restaurant that I've never been to before. Right in the heart of the Square, I enjoyed the outdoor patio with its relaxed yet upbeat city vibe. I didn't actually go inside the restaurant, but from pictures it looks like it gives you a retro diner feel. Curious about the vegan options, I ordered the Vegan Mac & Cheese Bites and Vegan Caesar Salad. I've never had vegan cheese before, but was pleasantly surprised by the taste, texture and flavor of each dish. The food was hot, fresh, hearty, and served as the perfect lunch (I even had leftovers!). I paired my plates with a seasonal peach sangria and Bantam cider (which, I also think was seasonal). Both drinks we crisp, light, and refreshing. All in all, my experience at Veggie Galaxy was pleasant, enjoyable, and great for a quick bite. Do they have the healthiest options? Not exactly. But it's solid and flavorful. The next time I'm in town, I, as a non-vegetarian, will definitely be back to try out more of the vegetarian and vegan options. read more

I remember hearing about this place a decade ago while at a college student conference in the area and others wanting to go here. My wife, best, friend, and I arrived into Logan late on July 1st and arrived at our hotel around the corner, Le Meridian, about an hour before they closed, so we came and in and they gladly seated us. Our server was amazing and very friendly. The ambiance is of a 20th century American Diner, which is unique since the place is all vegetarian. My wife and I shared the Mac 'N Stack and the Harlem Style Chopped Beef Hero with two boozy shakes which were wonderful and the portions were large. If we stay again in the area, we would love to come back and try other items. read more

I had to update my review after trying different things on the menu and deciding on a new favorite, the vegan BLT! The sauce was so delicious and the bacon was perfect texture. I added avocado and highly recommend the sourdough. The fries were great and I loved the house-made lemonade. Service was extremely friendly (particularly from the host) and it was so nice to sit out on the patio. I will be back! read more
