My boyfriend and I ventured out to South Boston on a cold winter night for some dinner. We were in…read morethe mood for some tavern style dishes, but wanted something a little more elevated. This is when we found Lincoln Tower Tavern. When we arrived, it was a moody atmosphere that we both were drawn to--high ceilings, brick walls, and dark brown accents. Since it was our first visit, we were excited to learn that Tuesdays feature $1 oysters. We ordered half a dozen and tried all three oyster varieties available. Each had a standalone flavor which I liked. It was also plated nicely for a quick photo op. For my drink I ordered the perfect pear; it had different flavors than what I'm used to, but in a good way. My boyfriend chose the Meat Pie and I ordered the Chicken Fettucine Fricassee. The waitress said these dishes would take half an hour to prepare (which it did not), so we ordered a side caesar to start off with because we were starving, it worked out because it was awesome. When the dishes arrived, the meat pie was a huge hit. I even tried the mashed potatoes and they were delicious. As for my dish, it just wasn't for me. I do want to state that it was prepared well and creative, the flavors just did not mesh with my palette well. It really tasted like turkey and gravy to me for some reason. It was a fine dish, just wouldn't order it again. Overall we had a great experience at this tavern as we really like the oysters, the drinks, the salad and my boyfriend did like his meat pie. The ingredients were also super fresh. That being said, I would try it again. They seem to be known for their wood fired pizzas, most tables were ordering them. Unfortunately we weren't craving pizza that night, but next time this is what I would order. Overall Lincoln Tavern has my vote, I just would order another entrée dish. Buttermilk & Bourbon is awesome. I went for Sunday brunch and let me tell you. AMAZING customer…read moreservice. If you're looking to go for brunch be advised that you should make a reservation ahead of time. I did a walk-in and had to sit at the bar. The bar isn't too bad. But if you're someone like me, (6'2 280lbs) it could be a little tight. At the bar, Dillon and Ricardo were amazing! They were very attentive as soon as I sat down. I was handed the menu with a glass of water. After looking over the menu they took my order. I ordered the New Orleans coffee. Good drink. A little on the sweet side but had a lot of alcohol! To start I had the tater tots. Pretty basic but it had a good seasoning to you! Not just salt and pepper! For the main dishes we had the Southern fried chicken sliders. It was a nice sweet and spicy blend. Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick to you! Also we got the chicken and waffles. As soon as we gave the menu back to them, not even 10 minutes later the food was at our spots. Piping hot and fresh. Mind you, the place was packed! So I'm not mad at that! The chicken thighs were seasoned well and juicy! The only thing I didn't like, was the waffle was kind of soggy and thin. Not like a Belgium waffle that is thick and crispy. But still, not bad. I would recommend trying them out but make reservations for a table.

Not sure the of the part of the city it's in maybe Beacon Hill as I'm a New Yorker ! The restaurant was cozy in a lower space of a brownstone building . We ordered tapas and had everything (almost !) on the Tapas menu . They did have full entrees but we were full off the Tapas . There were 4 of us and there was plenty of food . The Louisiana Crawfish Arancini , cast iron baked Brie with homemade potato chips , broccoli , Cajun catfish bites ( which has the most amazing sauce !!), Tuna Tartare and the steak tips were amazing!! The table next to us had the Buttermilk fried chicken which I wanted but after all the tapas we were done ! Dessert was the Beignets that were delish !! I honestly don't remember what we drank because the food was so good ! I'd go back if I'm in Boston . Pack your patience looking for a park because it's like Brooklyn trying to find spots . Wow what a great meal!…read more We went as a party of five. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodated us running late as well. Our server was so kind and gave us helpful advice on our order. We ended up ordering the Jerk Duck drumettes which were incredible -- super soft fall off the bone duck in a tangy sauce with some spice. Truly perfect and I think we all licked our plates clean. We also tried the fried okra which had little okra sticks set in a yogurt dip and was a really nice compliment to the drumettes. Last we got the Plantain chips which were so good -- definitely some of the best plantain chips I have had because they cut them so thin! And the dipping sauce was yummy also, would definitely start your meal with this. For mains, we shared the Suya Fennel, Goat Ragu, and Prawn Curry. I'm not sure I've ever eaten a fennel dish before but the Suya Fennel was so yummy with different textured vegetables in a creamy sauce. The prawn curry was also incredible with five fat prawns in a tangy coconut curry sauce with a side of fried roti/paratha perfect for cleaning up all the sauce. They also were easily able to accommodate a nut allergy and put the cashew cream on the side for us! The goat ragu was also yummy but came out like-warm (not sure if that's how it's supposed to come) and was overshadowed by the other mains a bit. For dessert we ended up trying all three -- the Cardamom Semifredo, Chocolate Raspberry Clafoutis, and Mango ice cream and love all of them! I think we all agreed our favorite was the Cardamom Semifredo because it's so unique -- the texture of the cake is almost like rasmalai and it comes with crunchy puffed rice which was a perfect balance. Definitely worth trying if you're open to trying something new! We also loved the mango ice cream with peanut brittle which is thicker than typical ice creams and also like a mango lassi ice cream. The chocolate clafoutis was super solid and similar to a lava cake, and perfect if you're looking for a chocolate fix, but not as unique as the other two. Overall we had such a great time at Comfort Kitchen. The service was great, the food was great, and the vibes were great. We will certainly be back!

I tried the mac and cheese, cornbread, and of course Lambo's award-winning gumbo. The mac was a solid 10/10. Creamy, flavorful, and pure comfort, even with the breadcrumbs (iykyk). The spoon bread was just okay for me. It leaned a bit too buttery and slightly undercooked, but shoutout to my amazing server and bartender for kindly comping it. Now the gumbo absolutely ate. As someone who loves New Orleans food, I know good gumbo, and Lambo truly gets it. Every bite was packed with meat, bold flavor, and soul. If you're in Boston, take the train and head to Hunter's Kitchen & Bar. Your tastebuds will thank you.

I recently visited Hunter Kitchen and Bar during a busy brunch hour, and while the atmosphere truly…read moreshines, the food and service left something to be desired for the price point. Starting with the positives, the vibe is fantastic--it's a classy take on Southern charm, with wood panels everywhere that really enhance the country feel. The country music playing in the background added to the welcoming, relaxed ambiance, making it a great spot to unwind. On the food side, I tried the Rice Bowl with BBQ pulled chicken. The chicken itself was moist and tender, but it could have benefited from trimming some of the excess fat and tendons. Unfortunately, the dish focused more on presentation than flavor, coming across as a bit bland overall. The gluten-free Kale Salad with regular pulled chicken was another miss for me; the kale had far too many tough stems, which detracted from the enjoyment. As for drinks, the Ginger Snap Mocktail sounded promising with its description hinting at spice, but it turned out overly sweet with no heat whatsoever--disappointing given the expectations set. Service during peak times felt rushed; the staff seemed prioritized on pushing orders to the kitchen rather than providing a warm introduction or attentive check-ins. The noise level was high, which is understandable for brunch, but it contributed to a less polished experience. In summary, Hunter Kitchen and Bar has a lot of potential with its charming decor and theme, but the food didn't quite deliver on taste or value, and the service could use more hospitality during busy periods. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars--worth a try for the atmosphere, but I might skip the food next time.
