This spot is a cafe during the day and still holds much of that feel in the evening, even when converted into sit-down dining and traditional service. I HIGHLY recommend the heart of palm "crab" cake. I'm not used to crab cakes so I don't have a great way of comparing to the "real" thing, but what I can tell you is - it's really, really good. The sauce in particular stands out for adding acidity that cuts through the dense crab cake, so be sure to get a little bit of everything in each bite. The Korean lettuce wraps were also great. As soon as the plate came out, you can smell the delicious barbecue sauce. The aioli is also quite good, with more standard pickled vegetables/kimchi. The mushroom short rib sounded intriguing and was presented quite artfully, but I wouldn't order it again. It did mimic the look of meat really well, but was nowhere near as impressive or flavorful as the other dishes. We also ordered the "Taco Tuesday" special, which felt pretty average and like any other (vegan) taco you could get elsewhere. It paired well with the sauce from the heart of palm "crab" cake though! I had the best time at Lulu Green. The space is cozy and gives the vibe of a casual coffee shop, but it is, in fact, a full service restaurant. Staff was super helpful and accommodating. I started my brunch with a Dubai chocolate croissant and had high expectations that were blown away. The flavors melded well and had a good mix of sweet and rich - the pistachio butter was a delightful surprise. The vegan breakfast sandwich was my entree. We were long-time admirers of Lulu Green on social media and it lived up to the hype! We didn't make a reservation but were seated right away, though it's a small place so seating is limited. Had a fantastic dinner- we got the "crab" cakes, Korean lettuce wraps, pasta alla vodka, and mushroom short rib. I love Lulu Green! The food is consistently well presented, colorful, flavorful, and delicious! Definitely my favorite vegan restaurant in Boston. Today I went with my mom for lunch and we tried the lemony lentil soup, the crispy chick'n bowl, the avocado toast, and the triple chocolate cheezecake with a pistachio rose latte. My favorite dish of the day, despite its simplicity, was the avocado toast for that perfectly crisp thick slab of za'atar focaccia. I could happily eat a LOT of that! I enjoyed the flavor of the crispy chick'n bowl but the ratio of rice to other ingredients was high, I personally would have preferred more veg. The triple chocolate cheezecake is wildly rich and chocolatey, I could only eat a couple bites but I was pleased to learn I could take the jar home! This was my first time visiting Lulu Green for lunch, but I have been several times for brunch and dinner and it has always been delicious. We were the only people dining in for lunch while we were there, but they had a steady stream of takeout orders, and our sever was friendly and prompt. I had lunch at Lulu Green and it was wonderful. The lemony lentil soup is absolutely delicious, and the Yuka fries with Harris's ketchup are so good -- such a great combination. I also want to mention how nice the to-go packaging is. The containers are sturdy, well put together, and I really appreciate how thoughtfully the food is packaged for takeout. A special shout-out to Stephanie, who has helped me during my last few visits. She is attentive, very polite, patient, and genuinely pleasant. She really knows what she's doing and makes you feel welcome and well taken care of. From what I can see, she's a very valuable employee and truly stands out. Trendy area, not a ton of parking, but we did fine on a Saturday night. Nice, looking place, looks like a small bakery or Café, but the food is to die for. We tried the meze plate, which was insanely great, and a nice Caesar salad, a very big portion. Then one of us got pasta, one of us got a chicken sandwich, and two of us got different types of steaks. Everything was so good, and the drinks were really awesome too, if pricey. The service is great, super friendly and attentive staff and the food is incredible. The portion sizes are large and the food is delicious and flavorful. I'm gluten free and vegan and really appreciate that they have plenty of options I can choose from. My non vegan fiancé also loves the food and is excited every time we come here. Decided to stop by for lunch and I'm so glad I did! This is a very cute little vegan cafe in Southie. Bright and colorful decor. Limited seating - I think there were four small tables inside and a few more outside. I ordered the avocado toast and the yuca fries. The toast was very tasty - a generous portion of avocado topped with cucumbers, pickled onions, pepitas, and cilantro. The bread was a crunchy toasted focaccia. I wish it had been a little fluffier. That's my only complaint though - I really enjoyed the balance of flavors and the different textures of the toast. The yuca fries were my favorite part of the meal! Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the marinara-type sauce they came with had a nice hint of sweetness to balance out the saltiness of the fries. I will say this cafe is on the pricier side for relatively small portions. I payed $22 before tax for avocado toast and fries, which is more than I usually like to spend on a casual lunch. But the food tasted fresh and high quality so the price is definitely not enough to deter me from coming back. read more

It's a small place so I was surprised to see a hostess at a podium right at the entrance. I suppose they were trying to be different or class a casual place up a bit? Whatever. We walked to the end of the diner, which literally took 8 steps to get there and were seated close to the bathroom, which didn't impress me. I loved that everything was vegan, but the food was just average and the portions were on the small side. The honey chicken was a bit wet and tasteless, and the Shawarma Bowl was super sour and salty. The Yuka fries were ok, but the homemade ketchup that came with it was also really sour and bitter. Would I come back? Probably if I was in the area again. Maybe something else on the menu would have tasted better. Traveled very far to try the food; however on the way there we bought an iced coffee, when we walked in they said no outside drinks were allowed, they suggested we throw it out or finish it before being seated. Lulu Green is truly the best vegan in Boston, backed by Boston Magazine. Mezze with Hummus, beets and muhammara. Everything including the pita was perfection. I'm chef and a total food snob so I really know good food and Lulu Green did not disappoint. The Caeser Salad was divine; I could each it every day! The brie style 'cheese' was so textually on point and the flavor was amazing. Since giving up cheese five years ago, I'd never had anything like it. Didn't realize this place was gluten free! This is a cute cafe near Broadway station. It has ample space for dine in and a pretty long drinks, sweets and savoury menu. I was here through a Yelp elite event and got a drink, cookie and a carrot muffin. The carrot muffin was the star of the show. I could taste the spices, the texture was soft and the cream on top was super light. I also got the turmeric pumpkin drink. The turmeric actually toned down the pumpkin flavour which I liked. What a wonderful gem to find in our frequent travels to Boston! Very cute little storefront cafe with dining room seating on the edges. The vibe was nice at sunset, playing a good mix of music like father John misty and the national. I had the pastor tacos and my son had the carbonara. My son is allergic to eggs and dairy, so having carbonara was a really special treat for him and it did not disappoint. So creamy and cheesy with mushroom bacon that was perfectly textured and flavored. The peas and the pea snaps were fresh and crisp. Possibly the best carbonara I've ever tried, vegan or not. I had the Al pastor tacos and they were juicy and spicy with hints of pineapple which complimented perfectly. Large fresh slices of jalepeno and red onions added contrasted the creamy avocado sauce (was almost like an aioli). Once again fantastic. I had one of their curated special drinks that had toasted coconut on the rim, and it was refreshing. But the standout of the night was the lemon and strawberry tart. How they managed to make this so delicious, decadent, and vegan will forever be a mystery to me! It was even more delicious than what you'd expect at a non vegetarian restaurant. So impressed. The server and manager were also super nice! We will certainly be back next time we are in Bostons. I get it. There aren't a lot of dedicated vegan spots in Boston, which is probably why Lulu has such above average reviews. But honestly, it's remarkably average. We got the Lulu Burger and Hot Honey Glazed Crispy Chick'n Sandwich. Both were damp(?) when they came out and were so overloaded with toppings that we had to eat with fork and knife; otherwise, you risk all of the sandwich contents sliding out of the soggy pretzel bun with every bite. To their credit, the flavors are good and balanced, but this meal was simply is NOT worth the cost ($19 per sandwich). I'm curious about their brunch options, but can't justify returning. read more
