Came here for a late nite dinner. They had trivia going on so it was a little chaotic but in a good way. We were seated at a high top by the bar. No one came over for quite a while so I had to go ask someone for menus and service. Our beer was good we got Old Dog Brown from Smuttynose Brewing Company--it's was smooth. I liked my cheesesteak bomb sandwich, it was a good size and I liked the homemade cheese wizz sauce. Fries were good too! My boyfriend liked his Fish Tacos. Overall it was a pleasant experience and cozy inside although a little chaotic. Only thing was service was lacking even though they were friendly, they took a while to come over until I asked for service. read more

I stopped in here before catching the train at Back Bay for a Pats playoff game. It worked perfectly as a pre-game spot. Great location right near the station, which made everything easy. This is a classic Boston neighborhood bar with a typical Irish look and feel. Comfortable, casual, and exactly what you expect. Good setup to grab a drink and a quick bite before heading out. I ordered a burger and a couple of IPAs. My girlfriend had a wrap and a Chardonnay or two. Everything was solid. Not standout food, but close enough. What we ordered did the job and fit the setting. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress even called us "love," which added to the experience. Overall, this was a solid visit. Good location, easy vibe, and reliable food and drinks. I would definitely use this spot again before heading to a game. GO PATS! read more

Clerys - Bar - Bars Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Solid neighborhood spot to catch up with friends or hang out. Plenty of tables, though don't be surprised if they seat you in the back room as the front fills up. Their food is good too, I had a chicken Caesar wrap. Be mindful their drinks are cheap and you can definitely taste the alcohol but again, you get what you pay for. I know I'll find myself back here again! read more

The bouncer was incredibly rude and treated me horribly. I will never be coming back.

Neighborhood watering hole on Columbus Ave with average food and drinks. Bit dark and dingy inside with sometimes a longer wait from the bartender. read more

Carmen the bartender is super aggressive if you don't leave her the tip that she expects. She will literally throw your drink out and kick you out afterwards and have her manager "back her up" when they did provide the worst possible service ever. Seriously be careful coming here. Also felt highly discriminating their attitude once they heard me speak another language that was not English. Very sad to see this type of behavior nowadays. read more

Feels like an old Boston staple! And it's always nice to find a place that still has affordable drinks ;)

This place is like if a group of post grad interns and a western Massachusetts college frat house got together and formed a child. What more can be described as Boston charm than sticky floors, drinks in plastic cups, and the occasional Celtics game rambling in the background? Clerys is your hole in the wall/watering hole type of spot for any Northeastern student with a lucky fake ID. I've had my fair share of fun moments but since then have grown out of it. But if you're ever in need of a fun and rowdy time, go here. read more

First the good. The waitress was VERY nice, liked her a lot. We went in December on a cold night. Might as well sat outside! The place was ice cold. Left with our feet numb. The plates had plenty of food, you would not feel cheated in that regard. Drinks were decent as well. However the food was very salty and a day later I still feel remarkably full and I only ate half my meal. You are near Copley at this location. Next time I would head elsewhere. If for no other reason comfort, I could always try another dish! read more

Food was fantastic, service was good and the place is awesome. I'm currently here now drinking and it's my first time but it won't be the last by any means, I love this place! AWESOME!!!!! read more

For bar food the foods delicious. This time we made the mistake of going on trivia night...the trivia host is so loud the waitresses can't even hear your order. It tends to be a younger crowd so it can get a little loud and rowdy but the food and drinks are good. We had an error with our order due to the waitress not being able to hear us but it was handled very professionally. We will definitely be back. read more

I have only attended Clerys in the evening, so can't really speak to the food or dining ambience, but can certainly say that in my experience, it is well worth it for a fun night out and some drinks with friends! Drinks are reasonably priced and there's a space for everyone. If catching the game and chatting with friends is your speed, then the upstairs is for you! If you're looking for something with a more club-type ambience, then downstairs in the space fondly referred to as the "Boom Boom Room", is the place for you! Truly something for everyone here and have always had positive interactions with the staff and DJs here! It is worth noting that Clerys is one of the very few places in Boston that does not charge a cover (nope- not at all, even after 10pm) and I hope this remains true for a long time to come!! I have often thought it makes little sense to pay $10 (even $15-20 in some places nowadays) only to then have to also pay for a drink after entering, which is why myself and many I know find ourselves at Clerys weekend after weekend. Grateful to Clerys and to the Boom Boom Room in particular for always being there & a guaranteed good time when I need it! read more

The food is amazing if decadent. Don't come here on a diet but if you want deliciousness fair in boston this is the place to be

Stick with the beer and the pub basics and you won't be disappointed. Burger, fries and beer for me.

Fun times and decent beers. This place had a cool atmosphere for the 3rd game of the Boston pacers Aries when the Boston won and it was cool to be a part of it and then me and my neighbors and her boyfriend went downstairs where it was a clubbby type vibe and we had a lot fun. THABKS!!! read more

I would consider myself a regular at clerys. I come back for the incredible bartenders, who are social and look out for me when I go on first dates there. Nicole, I've been able to get to know over the past few months. I return for her, and her service and friendly personality. however, last week the manager, Kelly belittle Nicole and scream at her with such disrespect. I will not be returning to clerys, after witnessing this unprofessional behavior. read more

We came here at 5pm. The place was pretty busy. Service was good. We got the Smokey Mango Mai Thai, Bee Stings wings, Hot Honey Roni Pizza, Wagyu Sliders, Buffalo Dip, Clery's Famous Steak Tips, and Southend Cheesesteak. All of the dishes were tasty. You can definitely tasty the quality in the ingredients. The Cheesesteak was made with a tasty shaved Ribeye in a toasted Panni. Steak Tips were cooked perfectly medium raw. Overall, one of the best bar food that I had so far read more

Clerys: clear eyes, cler(y) hearts, cant lose. Well, maybe you can. Unfortunately, it was one of those nights for I Quizzed My Pants, a trivia team unable to bring home Olympic gold in what was no trivial matter. As a place to home one's trivia craft, this was not the spot: only ten questions in an hour left these budding Einsteins wondering if e equaled mc you later, yet we persisted to the end of the game. Interns in business casual, no doubt the inspiration for the summer "man in finance" song flooded the bar with trust fund and blue eyes abound. While we lost the battle, the drink prices certainly won the war! Even old Al Einstein would return to this neighborhood haunt for those deals! We give 3/5 read more

Bouncer kicked out my entire group of friends for *checks notes* standing in line for the bathroom??? Could have easily passed by us, but instead picked a fight with a 120 lb girl who had not even finished her first drink. Said "do you realize you're in a walkway?" To which, of course she responded "no, but here, you can pass" And he immediately snapped and told all of us to "get the fuck out" ...... Seems bad for business, but what do I know, we were just 7 hot girls who got kicked out of the bar for standing in line for the bathroom. read more

Not sure WHO made the decision to change the food and menu but it's awful used to be the best bar food and now it's actually gross. Nachos with no toppings and gross cheese, under cooked pizza and soggy fries. Fun bar but bring the old food back read more

This is your archetypical college Irish bar. If you know what to expect, this is everything you could have expected. I enjoyed it. They have a line at the door of course, and it's packed inside, especially downstairs which requires a second line to get down to the basement where they have, a hot dark dance floor filled with bodies blasting early 2000s hits on a Saturday night. They even threw in some newer stuff and some Reggaeton and really captured the entire demographic, which seem to be mostly people under 25 and mostly white. The drinks are your typical bar drinks. They don't have anything special or signature cocktails at least from what I could see. I got the safety option, high noon. The bathroom is super small only two stalls, and one of them (of course the one I was in) didn't have toilet paper. There's a cute Photo Booth that takes three pictures of you, gives you your option for borders and lets you send it to as many phone numbers as you'd like. What an adorable way to remember the night. We made our own dance floor in the corner by the emergency exit, right where the security was stationed, and he was really nice and funny and let us have our space and kept guys from bothering us. Even at 30 i felt kind of old here lol but i had fun, it's always the people not the place. Would come back for sure. read more

I've walked past Clery's on Dartmouth Street many a time. However, a holiday party led me to walk through their doors and to discover that their space was divvied up into a bar area along the front, an enclosed "bistro" bar in the back, and another dining space overlooked by calm moose head to the left back corner. Our group had the privacy of the bistro and shared a number of appetizers through the evening: CLERYS TOTS $12.00 crispy handmade mashed potato croquettes, bacon, roasted jalapeño aioli, scallions, cheese WINGS $13.00 buffalo, bbq, Wayne Gretzky, honey-hot, lemon pepper or cajun NACHOS $14.00 baked three cheese blend, salsa verde, salsa roja, sour cream, scallion, cilantro CLASSIC CHEESE PIZZA $13.00 marinara, mozzarella, house pizza spice MEDITERRANEAN PIZZA $16.00 roasted garlic, mozzarella, spinach, peppers, mushrooms, red onion, olives, EVOO, house pizza spice I liked their bbq wings. Their cheese pizza was okay. The tots were crispy with mashed potato inside, but I didn't sense any of the extras listed on the menu description. The room was long but nice. We had sufficient plates, napkins, and silverware, but I couldn't find any place sensible to leave the trash - no wastebasket, no tray set to the side to collect used plates. *** 2/22/2019 - management's note taking my comments seriously is much appreciated. read more

BE CAREFUL: Bartenders adding additional tips to credit card receipts. Went with some friends and since I was ordering for a group of people we made sure to look at the receipt so people could Venmo. A couple days later I noticed on my credit card that I was charged an extra $30. Spoke to some other friends who were there and they all said their cards were charged slightly more than they remember. Seems like the staff is adding extra to the tip amount, I would be very careful paying with card here! read more

After watching someone leave the bar get beat up and stopped on outside the bar the bouncer said he's not out customer anymore and the side walk isn't part of the bar. The worst bar to go to unless you are praying on a fake ID to get in, they don't care it's their only demographic. Just don't rely on "security" if you actually need it read more

I'm happy to see Clery's still around after all these years. It's a standard bar with lots of seats at the bar as well as tons of tables scattered around. I used to come here on Friday nights back in college for drink specials and a DJ in the basement. Fast forward almost 20 years, I stopped by here on a recent business trip to Boston. Not much has changed. Decent drinks and a good bar scene. I haven't eaten here at all so can't review any of the menu other than the beer LOL Worth checking out if you're in the area but I wouldn't go too far out of my way as there are a lot of other options in Boston! read more

Always busy for cooperate happy hours. Sometimes can be loud and I friends but it's close

Clerys is not an awful place. There are a few scathing reviews that would lead you to believe otherwise, but if you put aside the fact that you got puked on/hit on/arrested, you might appreciate the large comfortable booths facing your own private TV from the army that surrounds the dining area. You'd notice the Bud bottles are only $3.50, and after a pop or nine, you may be inclined to partake in the $20.11 Football Special - a bucket of beer and two individual appetizers. For $20. And they have thick, heavily spiced Bloody Jerk that shows its sex proudly, swinging a fiercely phallic Slim Jim/olive garnish. Awesome, right? Not quite; the food is bad. And not Michael Jackson Bad, which is awesome, but bad-bad, which sucks when you're hungry. The nachos were cold and congealed, and when asked to have them replaced (by a very cordial server, by the way), the subsequent spinach-artichoke dip had the distinct tinny flavor and watery texture of being nuked with canned 'chokes. Had a bite of the buffalo chicken pizza, which wasted a perfectly good crust by weighing it down with way-too-much sauce, a minimal serving of the bird and uncooked carrots & celery. Of the smorgasbord of the apps opted for, only the plain chicken tenders (skip the artificially tangy honey mustard) and the pretzels (the cheese dip will sit heavy) proved palatable. As a bar or a gathering place to watch the game, Clerys offers something swell for your band of Bro Namaths. As an eatery, though? You better pack your own lunch. read more

The food was really good but I would have given it on the four stars... even though I ordered my burger medium well and it came to me medium rare. It was still good and the hand-cut fries were fresh as was the oil in which they were cooked. The service was... Consistent... Consistently absent. She did not come back to offer to refill or drinks. She did not come back to check on our food. She did not come back to take our bill... For an HOUR! THE DEAL: come try the food... But never when you're in a hurry. read more

Clerys - Damn this patron - Bars Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

On our trip to Boston we stumbled upon this bar after dinner. We checked out the Yelp reviews and waltzed on in. It's large, with a main bar right in front of you with a couple of tall tables around...and extends to the back with more seating. We sat right next to the open window and ordered some drinks. I had a beer, the ladies some cocktails. The breeze from outside was lovely - not used to that in South Florida! About an hour later they had to close the windows as they were starting up some live music and they told us they had to close them off, because of noise ordinances. All in all it was a good time, but nothing more than a normal bar to me unfortunatly. The cocktails were good - and I guess reasonably priced for the area we were in. read more

The bartenders that work here are so miserable. I was told to "go f*ck myself" when I asked for a water.....

I usually give generous reviews but for today, I have to go along with the majority. The service at the bar was good, but the food service was slooooow. The burrito that I order was veggie burrito with chicken. I found chicken and bland rice inside the tortilla, but where are the veggies in this veggie burrito? This is the risk of dining at a place that is too convenient for most of the hotel guests to go any other place that is worth the extra 5 minutes of walking. A bit disappointed to be honest, but may come back again just for drinks and do some people some people watching. read more
