Classic Lox Bagel $14
Rickey S.

Family owned business. Came on a Wednesday at 1230pm and ordered an open face lox bagel ($14) on jalapeño cheddar ($1) extra. Order came out in less than 10 min & only one person working. They give generous amount of ingredients and it tasted fresh. There were very few bagel options when I was there so make sure to come earlier. It's my third time coming here and the customer service is always good.

This is one of my favorite post-hike stops on Sunday mornings. I can taste the love they put into these bagels and spreads made in-house. They are exquisitely delicious! Thank you to the kind and lovely family that owns this establishment for your contribution to the community!

Love this bagel shop! It's small, but mighty. The staff are always friendly, the service is quick, and it's just cute all around. I've had their onion bagel, garlic bagel and their rosemary olive oil bagel so far, always with a plain cream cheese and it never disappoints. I recommend!

Bagels are fantastic, owner is incredibly friendly. Highly recommend this place. We had two ham, egg, and cheese bagel sandwiches and they came out fast and perfect.

Nice quaint spot near MtSac. Got me the Godfather which is pastrami and provolone. Looks small but OMFG this thing is packed with flavor. Can't speak to the service though for my wife ordered while I ran an errand next door. Priced right, good oj, chill vibe on a Sunday morning. If you dont want to drive to Beverly Hills for their pastrami bagel and spend 70 bucks come here instead. Easier on the wallet and you taste buds will thank you.

So good per usual! The staff are so helpful and the indoor/outdoor seating is a great place to chill while eating! Love the bagels here & they will always be my go to!

** ONE STAR FOR MY EXPERIENCE NOT THEIR BAGELS!!! ** So I used to come to Clearwater for bagels when I lived closer. The bagels were amazing and there were always a ton of people in line for them. Today I decided to drive out to pick up a dozen for family. I tried calling the day before to see if they do pre-orders because I needed them early Saturday morning but no one picked up. So I get here today, Saturday morning, almost 39 minutes early. I wait and they don't open until about 8:10. While waiting I notice signs everywhere stating that they don't sell loose/bagels, which I'm totally confused by. When I finally get inside I'm told that the only way I can buy more than one bagel is if I purchase a $5 side of cream cheese FOR EACH BAGEL. I was so dumbfounded by this, I asked, "So if I buy 6 bagels I need to buy each one it's own cream cheese for $5- which would be $30 just for the cream cheese?" And the cashier confirmed that was correct. A dozen is $21, so if I didn't pre-order it world be $81 for a dozen bagels and a dozen individual cream cheeses that I'm required to purchase Nevada I didn't pre-order. I understand that they do this so they apparently don't sell out early, but making people pay $5 for cream cheese for each bagel? Really, really disappointed- especially as a customer who used to love them and honestly did not know about this policy before I woke up almost two hours early and drive over to Walnut to get here before they opened.

Clearwater Bagel is a small, locally-owned spot. You place your order from one side of the store and pick it up from a window on the other. I went on a random Wednesday around lunchtime when it wasn't busy, and the wait was ok. I ordered their Avocado Bagel on an Everything Bagel and the S'mores Bagel on a Cranberry Bagel, which were new to the menu and sounded intriguing. Unfortunately, both open-faced bagels were a letdown. The bagels were overly hard and crusty, and they seemed almost shrunken after toasting. The avocado bagel was topped with slices of fresh avocado and lemon pepper seasoning -- basic and straightforward but slightly underwhelming. The s'mores bagel, while creative, was overly sweet, sticky, and messy. It's a one-time novelty, not something I'd crave again. A few months ago, I tried their California Club Bagel (onion) Sandwich -- it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't particularly memorable. Compared to other local bagel spots like Bageloo, Reborn, or Julie's (in the past), Clearwater doesn't really stand out, especially considering their prices. The bagels just aren't that good. They also make it harder to buy just loose bagels. If you don't preorder a large quantity, you have to pay for bagels with cream cheese, which costs more.. This feels so restrictive and less customer-friendly. I've heard the place changed ownership, and that might explain why it doesn't live up to the reviews. It's disappointing because I'd like to support a local business like this, but the bagels just aren't worth it. I haven't tried their drinks yet, but honestly, I'd rather go somewhere else for better bagels.

Easy parking in a strip mall. This place has limited hours and caters to locals in the area including the local colleges. They have dally fresh options that can be sold out depending on popularity. It is disappointing that the price point the bagels are so high for the amount of bagel you get. Further the bagels are not really anything unique to command the price. I understand it's difficult to run a local business but it is difficult to support the place given the price per taste per volume here. Overall worth a skip.

My daughter school is in the same plaza and stopped by this morning for a quick bite before her winter performance. Came here before and was looking forward trying their bagels again. This time i got a regular bagel vs their bagels sandwich. Ordered their garlic bagel with strawberry cream cheese spread and my wife for their jalapeno cheese bagel with jalapeno spread. The garlic bagel was fresh. You can taste the freshness of the garlic on the bagel as you take a bite the full flavor of the garlic kicks in and it tasted amazing. Better than store bought garlic bagel which i feel is barely noticeable. Service was great as last time with fast turn around for a busy morning. Great staff and pleasure to talk to and interact with. The fresh garlic on the bagel also provides a nice crunch to each bite and the strawberry cream cheese spread was delightfully delicious. The nice bright pink color of the spread also made the bagel pop in flavor and appearance. My wife enjoyed her jalapeno cheese bagel and spread that paired very well together providing a light heat with the cheese on the bagel pairing well with the spread. Forgot to take a photo (sorry camera did not eat first today, lol)... will take one next time i am back and i will be back.. Highly recommend people check out clearwater bagel a family owned and local business in the walnut area. Stop by here and get a coffee or other variety of refreshments they offer, you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely adore their lox bagel. The first bite is amazing, but every bite just gets better and better. The different tastes and textures are what keep me coming back to the lox bagel. The silkiness of the smoked salmon, the smoothness of the cream cheese and the crunch of the cucumber are a beautiful combo. I usually enjoy lox with a taro smoothie. Which is refreshing and not too sweet. The owners are so welcoming and sweet. My order came promptly and the freshness of the bagel was clear. I used to go to Mt. SAC a few years ago. Once in a while, I would go to Clearwater as a little breakfast treat after failing a physics exam. Would definitely recommend this small business due to the variety of items without sacrificing quality.

I hadn't heard of this place until recently, so I had been meaning to come here for a while. It was still pretty busy around 10:30am and there was only one guy working. The wait was decent, but of course since we knew there was only one person doing everything, we were patient with our orders! I loved that they have so many options of bagels to choose from! Both by themselves or as a sandwich/menu item. Indoor and outside seating. It is locally owned, has lots of parking, and they have merch available for purchase.

Ask the Community - Clearwater Bagel

Are you open on Mother's Day 5/14?

Is this business still open? I keep on getting a recording asking to enter my phone number.

They are open I was there last week their phone line was down at the time they always post live updates on their instagram I think that's the best to get a hold of them at the moment

Do they sell the bagel sandwiches in the morning when it opens or is it just breakfast bagels?

They have a good selection of bagel sandwiches eg. blt, vegan bagel, lox and bagel , Chicken salad tuna salad sandwiches and my favorite is the Korean bulgogi beef , as far as I know breakfast is serve all day

Do they do phone orders so you don't have to wait?

I just called them before I go in that way the lady will tell me which bagel they still have left and the waiting part it depends on how busy they are because they are only letting one customer to go tin at a time so hope that answer your questions

Are any of their bagels vegan friendly? I used to love coming here around my high school/SAC days.

Yes they have veggie and vegan sandwiches and if I'm not mistaken all of their bagel is vegan expect for the egg bagel

Do they take apple pay android pay?

If you meant apple pay they do, but not sure abt android pay

Do you sell cream cheese in large tubs?

Yes they do

How many have you ever tried Clearwater bagels? Do you agree with me it's awesome?

Service was courteous though not immediate. Coffee is from a local roaster and brewed fresh by the 16 ounce cup. No refills as it's by the order, but it's a good size and very good. Only drawback was grilled foods had a slight of oil taste and a few things left off my order, but not a major deal. I would give 4.5 so since I have to go by even stars I'll go 5.

This kinda service and nonsense seating policy on a hump day, is the type that drive customer like me away and choose franchise establishments such as panera or starbucks which located less than a mile away. None of the coffee refillable. No Creamers options/ milk options, sense was just unwelcoming and wouldn't want to come back. Maybe in another 8 years. I enjoy my breakfast taste though, but nothing extraordinary.

There were plenty of parking as it's in a shared plaza. For the store, it's a moderate size but it was definitely busy at the time we went. American Express is accepted as a payment option. The staff gave us a number to place on the table we sat at but we were free to grab any seat we liked. For seating, there were a few tables for parties of two and limited tables for bigger groups. Keep in mind if you need water or extra napkins, they'll have those near the bar seating. Both the Pink Vodka Pasta and Rich Miso Pasta exceeded our expectations! The miso pasta leans on the creamy side but pairs very well with the pink vodka pasta. The miso pasta didn't come with any protein by default, so we were glad that we added the Taiwanese sausage. Fun fact is that the meatball from the Pink Vodka Pasta is vegan! The portion size was super generous from both dishes and was beyond just two people. I wasn't expecting to discover pasta dishes that I'd consider as one of my favorites from this visit! I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.

I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5

I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. Parking is super easy as it's in a plaza and shares a big lot with other businesses. They had a special menu, so I'm not too sure what is and is not part of their usual menu, but this is what we ordered: 1. Baltimore Crab Cakes (comes with 2): we were pleasantly surprised as it came with a side salad; the crab cakes themselves were not dry at all and came with a good amount of crab. Delicious, 5/5 2. Heirloom tomato and stone fruit salad: one of the things they pride themselves on is sourcing their ingredients locally and sustainably. You can really tell with this dish that all of their ingredients are really high-quality and fresh. The stonefruit was super sweet. The price ($18) was a bit high for the portion size, so this was a 4/5 for us. 3. Crab & tonnarelli: really good cook on the pasta; my husband is really picky on pasta that's overcooked, but this came to us perfectly al dente. There was a good amount of crab as well, so we appreciated that they didn't skimp. That said, the taste was a bit one-toned and underseasoned, which is a lot coming from us since we typically complain about food being too salty. If it came with a bit more salt, it would've been one of our favorites. 3.5 (maybe 4)/5 4. Pork sisig and garlic rice: we love sisig, so we had to order it. While it was super flavorful and delicious, we couldn't finish it on the spot since it was pretty salty and we were getting full. We did take it home and cook some more vegetables into it to dilute the salt a bit. 4/5 5. Ricotta cheese pancakes: super fluffy and airy, you can tell why they need 20 minutes to prep them. Again, the fruit they used was super fresh and sweet. Loved, no notes. 5/5 Service-wise, there were some hiccups with our orders. Our salad came to us without the burrata and when we asked them about it, it took about 3-4 people double-checking their menu to confirm it actually came with burrata, then a handful more minutes to rectify it. It seemed strange to me that they were unfamiliar with their own menu. Our pork sisig dish came out much later than every other dish and our waiter had to check up on it a few times, so it may have just gotten missed. There seemed to be a lot of people working in the front, but somehow hard to flag them down and get helped when we needed it. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as it was Mother's Day and I'm sure it was busier than usual. Our waiter was also gracious in comping a drink as a result of the long wait for the sisig. Overall, we'll still come back as we want to try other dishes and we do appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and their integration of vegetables with dishes, which can sometimes be hard to come by. Just wanted to provide some feedback on service in hopes they'll take it constructively.
