I had a poor experience at Qyuancha Teashop (Walnut). I ordered the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea ($4.75) w/ Whole Milk (75 cents) and Brown Sugar Boba (additional 75 cents). Unfortunately, it's a frugal, bland drink with tasteless, squishy boba. There's no tea flavor.... this drink tastes like tap water with milk. (Quick Note: If you don't request milk, they use powder.) I arrived at Qyuancha Teashop (Walnut) on Friday (around 12:24PM). The customer parking lot had plenty of spots. Parking is easy. Customers order at the counter or self-service kiosk. Staff is welcoming, laid back, and helpful. My drink took about three minutes. Quick. As mentioned, I disliked the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea ($4.75) w/ Whole Milk (75 cents) and Brown Sugar Boba (additional 75 cents). It tastes like "nothing." The flavor of watered-down milk and water jello balls encapsulates its flavor profile. The boba was not bouncy; rather, the texture resembles deflated marshmallows. However, the lovely ambiance at Qyuancha Teashop (Walnut) is the ONLY reason why the review score is so high. Despite the awful, frugal drinks, this business is a college student's hidden paradise. The location is very clean, calming, and comfortable. There's about 15 tables, and there's about 8 electrical outlets. There's also customer internet with password; the details are on a small card at the counter. This location also has a self-service water station and a gender neutral restroom. Qyuancha Teashop (Walnut) is also decorated lovingly. I appreciated the book aesthetic and the hanging leaves. It's also very quiet inside. The location felt like a well-ventilated, comfy library. If searching for a study spot, this is such an easy recommendation. Overall, I had a mixed experience at Qyuancha Teashop (Walnut). The location is a cozy, creative study/work spot, but the tea is very bland, poorly made, and unmemorable. This business screams wasted potential. Great place to relax and have a drink with friends. It's located inside a strip plaza on Pierre Rd and Valley in Walnut, and it's also close to the Walnut High School. It's very spacious inside and comfortable. My daughters also like this place. From my previous visits, I do agree with the other reviews that it gets pretty busy around 1-3 PM on weekdays with high schoolers, but it calms down after 4. The space is roomy and decorated nicely, with plenty of seating, including couches, and there are outlets along the wall. They also have free Wi-Fi, making it a decent low-key study spot. One thing I appreciate is their expansive drink menu. I also like that they serve both drinks and snacks, including bentos. I've tried their popcorn chicken before which tasted pretty standard. I think I've seen a menu for oden but I haven't tried it yet. There's a display corner with figurines you can buy, which adds some personality. There are two bathrooms that have always been clean and well-maintained. Parking has never been an issue for me; it's right out front and usually easy to find a spot. What I got: *Fried chicken fillet bento ($6.99): You get to choose your sauce (I went with curry) and three sides (I picked edamame, corn, and tofu). It also comes with rice. I didn't have to wait too long because it was the end of the day, and the quality is what you'd expect for the price, but it hits the spot. I cannot stress how amazing the ambiance was inside this place. Plenty of seating with variety to choose from. There was a small library to browse through to enjoy my quiet Sunday afternoon. There was also a decently sized anime figurine collection to enjoy. I ordered the Japanese Curry bento along side with my Assam Black Milk Tea (half and half milk, 100% sweet) Japanese Curry Bento: 2.5/5. For $8.99, I felt like I got what I paid for. In terms of quantity, there is enough to fill me up for lunch. However, the quality was middling. The curry tasted like slightly watered down Japanese box curry. The croquettes had some flavor and was fairly creamy inside but unfortunately was soggy due to being placed on the curry sauce. The tamagoyaki mostly tasted sugary without much other flavors. The rice tasted like it was sitting out for a few hours. The deep fried gyozas were decent at least. Nice, crunchy, with a umami filled filling. I wouldn't order this specific bento again, but it was decent enough that I would like to try the other bentos in the future. Assam Black Milk Tea: 3/5. A very average milk tea. I found this tea shop on Yelp. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. The inside of the shop is very spacious with over 10 tables. This place is perfect to get some work done. All of the tables have a QR code menu, and you're also able to place an order at the front or on a kiosk. It was quite busy when I stopped by with about 15 guests. I ordered 2 drinks on the kiosk. A winter melon tea with Aloe and a roasted oolong tea with cheese foam. I customized the drinks to 50% sweet. It took approximately 20 minutes to get the drinks.The winter melon tea was a bit sweet at 50%. The roasted oolong tea was perfect. If I got the winter melon, I would probably adjust the sweetness to 25%. Overall, it's a good experience but not a place you can expect to be in and out in 10 minutes or less. I got the taiwanese sausage burger with teriyaki sauce and hot matcha latte. They were both really good! The patty was rice with furikake and was really fun to eat. Plenty of parking here, I found a spot right in front. It was empty on a Saturday afternoon, with just one other patron sitting inside. There are lots of tables, along with a small lounge area complete with sofas and a large bookshelf. In the corner of the room they also have Funko Pops, figurines, and other anime merchandise on display. Their menu has all your favorite milk teas, brewed teas, fruit teas, sago drinks, smoothies, flavored milks, and caffeinated beverages. They also have small bites and desserts. Toppings are 75¢ to $1.50 extra. A communication mishap occurred, I asked for the Assam Black Milk Tea and I got the Assam Black Tea instead. Not the end of the world, I still found it pleasant. Malty with just the right amount of sweetness. Boba was pretty good too, with a soft but decently chewy texture. Located in a quiet small plaza down the street from Walnut High School, Qyuan Cha Tea Shop is the perfect place to study. Relaxing, somewhat minimalistic decor, lots of houseplants abound, plenty of seating, and polite, attentive service. Juxtaposition of theming just makes me think cafe space was also used to store these figures too, considering some of them are quite massive. Random, but it's all generic shonen (One Piece, Naruto, Dragonball, etc.) and Kaguya-sama lol. We got the: 1) Oolong Milk Tea (100% sugar): -Pretty sweet, but not scathingly so. -Standard oolong milk tea. 2) Peach Oolong Milk Tea (50% sugar): -Starts out just like the oolong milk tea but ends with a nice peach flavor. -You can taste a bit more of the tea with reducing the sugar. -It's alright honestly. 3) Sweet Potato Fries (Regular size): -Nicely fried, not overly soggy in the slightest as that is the curse with some sweet potato fries. -Salted nicely too. Delicious. 4) Curly Fries (Regular size): -You can choose different seasoning flavors like lemon pepper, garlic & onion, curry, BBQ, & Hot Lime as well as adjusting the spicy levels. -The flavor offers here are super unique as I've never seen hot lime as a flavor that wasn't a hot chip. -I ended up ordering the curry flavor at mild level and it's pretty good. There was good tea flavor in the milk tea, and the kiwi was refreshing and not too sour for me. On a side note: taro topping uses FRESH TARO mashed, which is a super plus in my book. I love drinks with taro, so one day will definitely try their green tea milk tea with taro & boba. - Kiwi fruit tea with 25% sugar: they use fresh kiwi fruit, not essence/syrup, so I really appreciate this.
