I've been here a few times now. My husband and I usually get the tempura chicken nuggets for family get-togethers because they love them! On the recent visit, I tried their Grilled Chicken Rice Plate. I got the meal for $10.99. The chicken was so tender and flavorful! The coleslaw was fresh and crisp. There was more dressing than I liked, but I still enjoyed it. The rice was soft and cooked perfectly. This was filling, I would definitely order this plate again. Found this place through social media and made a trek all the way from San Diego. They specialize in chicken so their chicken was definitely delicious! We went specifically for the chicken nuggets. This is a fast food chain that started in China back in 2000. There isn't anything Chinese in terms of flavor as it's meant to taste like an American fast food place, but the price seems better than most fast food places these days. Just look at its 3 for $10 menu where most of the items are slightly under or slightly above $10. Best deal is its 3 regular chicken sandwiches for $10 deal. Menu is very similar to Chick-Fil-A. Everything is chicken based with either fried or grilled chicken as an option for its sandwiches and wraps. My family and I ordered its regular fried chicken sandwich, grilled chicken club, spicy deluxe chicken sandwich, tempura chicken nuggets, and waffle fries. Total was $23 after tax. Now that's a great deal. Food took a while to make as everything is made to order, but everything tasted pretty good. My favorite was the spicy deluxe chicken sandwich. Had pretty good texture and wasn't too spicy. The grilled chicken sandwich was quite tender but also stringy, as if the muscles on the chicken had split. Only main complaint is lack of free sauce offerings. Other than ketchup, this place doesn't offer any additional sauces without a fee. I think it's $0.39 per sauce. I don't mind paying for extra sauces but I think it should at least offer one of its signature sauce for free. Anyways, the big thing about this place is that they primarily use juicy, moist dark meat for their chicken. You can tell, because sometimes you see angry reviews on the internet about people genuinely confused and distraught that their chicken has a "weird texture", because they've been used to eating dry white meat chicken their entire life (many such cases in America). This one special trick - normies hate it! - pretty much ensures that Wallace Chicken gets to clown on basically almost all domestic fried chicken sandwich places. Not to mention that the vegetables come out nice in the sandwich (nothing too soggy) and the sauce is creamy but not overly decadent (I'm looking at you Raisin Canes). Pros: Value for Buck- At $5/sando and $9/8pk nuggets, today's quantity of food would've set me back approximately $103 at my local ChiK-Fil-A, also in Walnut. So there's NO CONTEST...Wallace TROUNCES it's more established American rival when it comes to price. Good, Fast Service- The young man who took my order waa pleasant, restated my order to endure accuracy and even graciously offered me a water cup while I waited (less than four minutes) for my order to be fulfilled. Clean, Modern Look- The store is brightly lit, spacious and clean. And...Is it ME or do all of today's fast casual restaurants buy their HVAC ductwork from the same supplier? Then...they all display them in the same manner too, riiiiiiight??! Lol. Caliber of Sando (Mostly)- The sandwich is, for the most part, a winner. Wallace trumps CFA eith their dense, pillowy brioche buns and pleasantly sweet pickles...but stumbles on the CONSTRUCTION of their sandos...which I'll elaborate on, below. Cons: Sandwich Construction- Because Wallace employs boneless chicken thighs for their sandos, they invariably stack 3 or 4 smaller thigh segments to assemble their sandwiches. The result is a messier, wetter dining experience. CFA goes with the larger, white meat breast, which results in a cleaner, easier to eat vessel. Restroom Tidiness- I found the restroom trash bin overflowing, the soap dispenser bone dry and the room suffused with the unmistakable tang of weed...prolly due to the previous customer. But for a brand new restaurant its especially galling- Please, lets empty those bins and replenish those soap dispensers or, at minimum, stash some hand sanitizer in there! Today's order, incl taxes, cost me $31.82. In sum, Wallace looks like she's gonna do JUST FINE as she expands westward. Tempura Chicken Nuggets: I don't usually order nuggets, nor will people catch me ordering nuggets as long as there are more..... "adult" options. However, this place will be my constant exception. I'm not sure how different their batter is from a normal nugget batter, but I really enjoyed it. It's the right amount of saltiness and very easy to eat. $5 for a 12-piece feels worth it. Service: I was the only one there for a to-go order. Things were pretty straightforward. Ambiance: It's your normal chicken shop spot. I tried the chicken sandwiches and nuggets at Wallace Chicken. My experience was good. I don't live nearby but next time I'm in the area, I'll return if I'm craving chicken. Food quality is good and it's priced fairly. The inside of the restaurant if very simple with mainly counter seating. FOOD Chicken Sandwich - good overall. The bun, chicken quality and taste were all good. Nuggets - these aren't your typical fast food chicken nuggets.
