Now that's a great deal. Food took a while to make as everything is made to order, but everything tasted pretty good. My favorite was the spicy deluxe chicken sandwich. Had pretty good texture and wasn't too spicy. The grilled chicken sandwich was quite tender but also stringy, as if the muscles on the chicken had split. Interior is modern and nice looking. Parking can get rough since so many gymcels are out and about and there's lots of eateries in the plaza too, so just keep that in mind or order ahead for pick up. read more

Your favorite Yelp correspondent first sampled Chik-Fil-A's (CFA) famous chicken sando during a business trip to Atlanta in 1998...so of course I've got plenty of thoughts on Wallace Chicken, the 25yr old "Chinese KFC" who recently opened their maiden USA franchise right here in Walnut. I ordered their "3 for $10 Special," comprised of three of their chicken sandos plus a bucket of 45 chicken nuggets for $18.99. Pros: Value for Buck- At $5/sando and $9/8pk nuggets, today's quantity of food would've set me back approximately $103 at my local ChiK-Fil-A, also in Walnut. So there's NO CONTEST...Wallace TROUNCES it's more established American rival when it comes to price. Good, Fast Service- The young man who took my order waa pleasant, restated my order to endure accuracy and even graciously offered me a water cup while I waited (less than four minutes) for my order to be fulfilled. Clean, Modern Look- The store is brightly lit, spacious and clean. And...Is it ME or do all of today's fast casual restaurants buy their HVAC ductwork from the same supplier? Then...they all display them in the same manner too, riiiiiiight??! Lol. Caliber of Sando (Mostly)- The sandwich is, for the most part, a winner. Wallace trumps CFA eith their dense, pillowy brioche buns and pleasantly sweet pickles...but stumbles on the CONSTRUCTION of their sandos...which I'll elaborate on, below. Cons: Sandwich Construction- Because Wallace employs boneless chicken thighs for their sandos, they invariably stack 3 or 4 smaller thigh segments to assemble their sandwiches. The result is a messier, wetter dining experience. CFA goes with the larger, white meat breast, which results in a cleaner, easier to eat vessel. Restroom Tidiness- I found the restroom trash bin overflowing, the soap dispenser bone dry and the room suffused with the unmistakable tang of weed...prolly due to the previous customer. But for a brand new restaurant its especially galling- Please, lets empty those bins and replenish those soap dispensers or, at minimum, stash some hand sanitizer in there! Today's order, incl taxes, cost me $31.82. In sum, Wallace looks like she's gonna do JUST FINE as she expands westward. But please consider ways to tighten up the construction of your sandos so we're not having to employ white-knuckled, two-fist holds to keep the contents from flying everywhere! read more
