I ordered the Mango Pomelo Sago and while it was fine, it was not quite as flavorful as I was hoping, especially compared to similar drinks I have had at other tea shops. I also was not able to adjust the sweetness level, which might have helped elevate it. Service was great. It was quick, friendly, and efficient. The shop itself is cute, though it felt a little cluttered inside. Parking is a big plus and very easy to find. Overall, it was not bad, just not particularly memorable. It succeeds with capturing that fresh brûlée flavor. Unfortunately, its boba pearl's texture resembled wet glue. I arrived at BenGong's Tea (Walnut) on Sunday (around 11:44AM). Parking was easy that weekend. The lot is very big. This business is located across Mt. Sac. (aka: Mt. San Antonio College). Staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. There's no self-service kiosk, so Staff (receipt says Merrielle) helps guide the customer with sweetness level and ice level. Merrielle gave wonderful recommendations, and Merrielle worked hard. The drink took three minutes and nine seconds. Good pace! As mentioned, the Burnt Brûlée Boba Milk Tea ($6.50 - 50% Sugar - Regular Ice) presented immense potential. I genuinely enjoyed its presentation and flavors, however, the boba felt below average. As I continued to chew that boba, my smile slowly vanished. It tasted like mochi dough after a while. Hopefully, the boba improves in the future. Concerning ambiance, BenGong's Tea (Walnut) felt dusty and unclean. Despite arriving near opening hours, I found old long strands of hairs on its chairs. There's also thick swathes of dust collecting on the windows' crevices. The sofa had old dried stains. And despite its attempt to look modern, the place felt dusty and worn-down with age the longer I lingered. My eyes transfixed on a small fruit fly that lazily crawled along its white wall. All in all, BenGong's Tea (Walnut) felt like a place that lost its passion. Fortunately, there's still utility at BenGong's Tea (Walnut). There's customer internet with password; the details are posted on the counter. There's also two electrical outlets (but one is somewhat uncomfortable to use). There's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Also, the music is very soft. However, the location is a little cramped. There's about three tables. Overall, BenGong's Tea (Walnut) is not bad. Came here after eating lunch in the plaza. There are like a million boba shops in the plaza so it's hard to choose where to go. We ordered online to get it faster but it was a decently sized order so it still took some waiting before we got our drinks. The vibes were okay. It's right next to a college so I assume there are quite a bit of students that go there after class. I'm not sure if the store is trying to save money either but it was pretty warm inside. It didn't feel like the ac was on so we waited outside where it was much cooler. I ordered the Osmanthus Oolong cloud and it tasted great. There were some bits in there that gave it some texture which I love. It definitely has a unique taste to it which is why I'm more drawn to coming here compared to other places. When I went in, someone (Worker A) was headed to the back and let someone in the kitchen (Worker B) know that there was a person out front (me). I waited there for about 4 minutes and heard a really loud "I JUST LOST 300$". Worker A came out from the back and reminded Worker B that I was still out front. B came out, I picked out a drink, regular size, since I didn't want a wasted trip. I paid, and as I turned away, I hear B ask A something like, "Dude, do we sell boba?" Mind you, I just paid like 7$ for a boba tea. Obviously these two were joking around, but it left a bad feeling in my chest as I sat to wait for my drink. When I received it, I felt a little shocked. There are a few tables and a sofa to hang out around. Service was pretty unfriendly and we felt rushed even when there was no one behind us. My niece ordered their Passion Fruit Super Fruit Cup ($6.50) 50% sweet and I ordered a Strawberry Yakult Tea ($6.50) 75% sweet. You will have to ask for the wishing paper when you order because they keep it behind the counter. The yarn, scissors and pens are by the tree. The drinks were made pretty slow cause we had time to think about our wishes, write them out, and hang them up before the drinks were done. When we got them it looked so refreshing but it tasted so bad. My niece was saying how her fruit was albino with no color and sadly stale. It took away from the drink and would have been better off with just the tea. Also there was so much fruit, it took up a lot of the volume of the cup. I typically like strawberry yakult drinks from other tea houses but this was bitter and still sweet even though I reduced the sweetness. There's comfortable seating here, I love that the chairs are comfortable to sit in and there's plenty of space on the table if you want to sit here and do work. We got 50% sweetness on all 3 drinks and they were perfect. The boba were soft and chewy with the right sweetness as well. I was most impressed by the burnt milk tea. The tea itself had a subtle nutty aroma. It is a nice upgrade to a standard black milk tea. The service was great. Friendly and quick to answer any questions about the drinks. The ambiance is trendy but not over the top. What stands out was an installation of a wishing tree where you and personalized your message on note card and stationary provided. Stopped in after lunch to pickup some boba drinks for my family. This is such a cute boba shop, it is clean, bright and staff was friendly and polite. They have a wide variety of different teas, milk teas and cheese teas. So many different options to choose from. The young lady who took my order helped explained what goes well with what. She was very thorough. I really appreciated that and it was nice she wasn't trying to rush through my orders. The milk teas and strawberry sparking tea I order were very consistent with taste and textures of bobas were nice soft and chewy. They have this cute wishing tree set up in the front you can write down you 2024 wish and hang it on the tree. I thought it was a nice touch given it's the holiday season. I love the crunch of the passionfruit fruit seeds, and I could really taste the watermelon and pineapple flavors so well. I ordered the drink in 75% sweetness, and it was perfect for me. Tiramisu milk tea with boba: the boba was super soft and sweetened perfectly. The tea in regular sugar level was perfect. Tea flavors were strong and not diluted. This is one of my fav spots to get a nice, sweet, unique milk tea from, but I'm always conflicted on the drive there and the fact that Oops is in the same plaza, but now no longer since they have one here. My only real qualms is that there's no online order option like the Arcadia location and the hours are pretty limited here. Here's to hoping that both of those change as time moves on! I got the: 1) Purple Taro Fresh Milk: -Even with 0% sugar, this drink is naturally sweetened by the purple taro and the fresh milk, so keep that in mind! -They use real taro in this drink and it's a great topping as well as flavor with the milk. Not too chunky and tastes great! If you're a fan of purple taro, I recommend this. 2) Burn Caramel Cheese Milk Tea: -I'm a sucker for crème brulee milk teas and this gives an interesting twist since it combines the crème brulee with that of a cheese milk tea. -Tasty contrast between the sweetness of the caramel and milk tea, with the saltiness of the cheese at the top. Would definitely get this again! The drinks were pretty good as they are and they are also given to you in an aesthetically pleasing paper bag and aesthetically pleasing cups once again. I ordered the cheese osmathus oolong tea and the strawberry yakult tea. The cheese osmathus had a unique salty taste and was refreshing. I couldn't taste the yakult in the strawberry yakult tea but it was also a delicious relaxing beverage on a lazy afternoon. The decor was welcoming at this location and service was prompt. Plentiful of parking, as well, so long as it is not during the weekday when classes at Mt. Sac across the street is in session. read more

Was very excited when I heard Ben Gong had opened in walnut , as I've tried it before in Asia and absolutely loved their Osmanthus tea cube milk tea. I wanted to try something different and ordered the Dahongbao boba milk tea. I liked how fragrant the tea is but in my opinion its still a bit watered down , I mostly just taste the creamer used . Also, on that day the boba was kinda tough , like they made it in the afternoon and been sitting for awhile . But its kind of expected if you come to boba shops at a later time and its not that busy :) . If I were to come back , I'd definitely go for the tea cube milk tea read more

I especially like burnt brûlée boba milk tea coz it was more flavorful and I like crème brûlée flavor. The boba was so soft and easy to chew!
