Corn Latte
Ann T.

I had the chance to FINALLY go to the closest Smoking Tiger to me. Which is really funny since I've been to the Cerritos, MPK, and Whittier locations first. This one is just a Coffee Lab, so it doesn't have the extensive baked goods like the Cerritos location, but still has a decent selection towards the cashier area. Some refrigerated chubby cakes and slices, canned and bottled drinks, and then some pre-wrapped baked goods like bread, cookies, mochi, etc. They can warm it for you too I believe. With the increase of Smoking Tigers, I heard from my friend that also frequents these that they're cutting a lot from their menu, food and drink wise. My beloved choco mugwort, please return as a seasonal drink at least. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I was on the fence about ordering a limited seasonal Yakult cold brew style drink but feared that it was going to be more sour than a standard Yakult because of the cold brew and after explaining the flavor profile thoroughly, I opted for a safer drink that I've had before. Their banana milk latte. I'm a caffeine addict and this was a good pick me up. Not super strong and didn't zute me immediately, but this is perfect for those slow release caffeine people who like to sip on their drinks. Perfect banana milk taste after mixing and a perfect coffee for me, not too bitter or sour lol. There's outlets at the tables near the window and lots of places to sit down and hang out. Plenty of parking but it can get busy since a lot of people are in the plaza to go to 99 Ranch or the other businesses (restaurants, shopping, tea, etc.) but also everyone hates parking at the plaza across the street so they're parking here and walking over haha... It's insane this used to be a Diamond Bakery. They've existed since the 70's and 80's and there's only 2 left in existence (Vegas and MPK). Really makes you think of the passage of time. ANYWAYS, there's a point system if you sign up with your phone number and an app where you can access deals, order ahead of time, send gifts, and they have special days each month!

Tiger latte

The coffee was good! Got the tiger latte and the flavor was rich and toasty/nutty. Can't wait to go back and try their other flavors, which seemed unique and yummy. Really spacious inside, and small selection of bread. Wish there were more dessert options and bigger tables though, for actually dining in.

20/10 cream cheese garlic bread. It might be the best thing I've put in my mouth in a while. Let's talk about the coffee though... it's pretty terrible. Agree with other reviews about it tasting watered down with no flavor. Even the Americano. It would be more amazing (and make more money) with better espresso. I would say a bread only place. Everyone working was lovely and the facility seemed clean.

Came here when they first opened and finally made it back! It was much calmer than opening day, which made for a more enjoyable visit. This time we got the Banana Milk Latte and the Sweet Potato Latte. Both were so good! The Banana Milk Latte actually tasted like banana milk and wasn't overly sweet. The Sweet Potato Latte was a surprise!! In a wonderful way. I was expecting something similar to ube or taro, but it really tasted like roasted sweet potatoes. Super unique and honestly delicious. The staff were friendly and you could tell they put care into making the drinks. We haven't tried any of the food yet, but everything we saw out looked really good. The cafe itself has a nice, chill vibe with plenty of seating to hang out, work, or catch up with friends. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to. Whenever we're in Rowland Heights, we'll be making a stop at Smoking Tiger!

Banana matcha latte and Garlic bread

I want to give 4.5 star, but i like that the quality is always consistent. I have becoming here for a couple times now and try a couple different kind of drinks. I want to say my favorite would be Matcha latte with variety of different milk. I don't know if I like the artificial banana flavor in the banana milk latte, but I definitely enjoyed their matcha flavor simple milk. The pastries are interesting. Sweet potato mochi is bomb, and the garlic bread warmed is really really good as the cream inside makes it so addicting.

Solid coffee lab & happy to have this rather than more Starbucks around this area. Ample parking by 99 ranch. Very cute interior with Korean art decors and quite spacious. Seats are not very comfortable, maybe so you get out sooner Service was ok. I think it's just a very laid back vibe, but the cashier was smiley and nice. I got the banana latte and I loved it! Very unique and refreshing. Will come back for more flavors. Speaking of flavors, their soft cookies had cool variety but I can't justify the tiny individual cookies for the price.

Finally visited Smoking Tiger cafe for the first time. I came specifically to get the black sesame chewy cookie since I haven't seen that anywhere else! It was much less sweet compared to dubai chocolate chewy cookies I've had elsewhere. I actually really liked it! It was $4.50 so kind of expensive for how tiny it is, but I'd say it's more worth it than getting a dubai chocolate one. I also got the iced banana latte with oat milk, less sweet and less ice. I don't think this drink was for me because it was still way too sweet. Also you can barely taste the coffee. And I am not usually the biggest fan of coffee so I don't normally mind if the coffee isn't so strong, but even this one I felt was not enough coffee. The staff are all very nice and friendly though. I would come back to try other drinks or pastries. Nice addition to 99 ranch complex!

Cute spot in the 99 ranch plaza. Friendly service. I got the seasonal Yazu Cano drink. Unfortunately I did not like it. However the pastries I got - lemon earl grey sconzie and cinnamon honey scone, both are amazing!!! So good. I'll try a different drink next time. The one I got has a citrusy and slightly bitter taste and I'm not quite in the mood for that. Other people may like that. I should have gotten a more traditional milk tea or brown sugar latte. But I would definitely come back just for the pastries. :)

Strawberry matcha latte
Valerie C.

My friends and I stopped in Smoking Tiger while waiting for our takeout at Jinsol. The coffee shop is bright and clean. Service was very friendly and fast. Strawberry Matcha 3.5/5 - not the best I had, it was a little watery, and matcha was on the lighter side. Strawberry puree was not very strong. Banana Milk Latte 4/5- my friend liked it. It wasn't too sweet or too strong. Black Sesame latte 4/5- my friend liked it as well, I was hoping to try the cream cheese garlic bread but it was sold out. There were many different scones options left, and many of them sounded very interesting to me, like the lemon earl gray scone, and the cinnamon honey scone. I ended up getting the Lotus s'mores scone which was 4.5/5 for me. It wasn't too dry ( I reheated it for 5 sec before serving).

Maureen M.

Good customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. I came specifically for the matcha, but unfortunately it was a bit watered down and not quite what I was hoping for. That said, they have a wide selection of other drinks and pastries that looked great, and I'd be open to trying something else if I'm in the neighborhood again. Overall, a decent spot with friendly service.

Van L.

I've been to their Cerritos location and fell in love but surprisingly, this location's drinks and garlic cream cheese bread wasn't up to par. The bread was a little stale while our drinks were mostly milk. I don't recommend ordering their matcha drinks unless you prefer a very subtle matcha flavor but their hojicha was decent!

Matcha apple cider
Natalie L.

Stopped by here a few times while I was visiting family in Rowland, and the drinks are great! The persimmon leaf tea was naturally slightly sweet and earthy, and I could see this being great iced on a hot day. Smoking Tiger also has so many unique drink options, like I've never heard of someone combining matcha and apple cider (seasonal drink). I haven't tried any pastries, but they look great! The workers are ridiculously nice, and I could see myself working here since it's a nice, quiet shop.

Nancy L.

Coffee is a 5/5 -nutty, rich, not to cinnamony I wish this place can open earlier so I can get coffee before work! This place is a great study place if you don't mind the noise. They have stable internet connection and there are a couple tables for seating. The service was quick and staff were friendly. I did not feel like I was rushed to leave. Stayed here ~5hrs on a Saturday!

The creme brulee top is super tasty, and goes super well with the tapiochi. It can definitely be a little sweet, so you might want to adjust the sweetness. 9/10 The Osmanthus Citrus Refresher is my all-time favorite drink! The osmanthus flavor is so refreshing in the hotter months, and the citrus adds a nice touch to the tea. 10/10 The staff at all of the Torotea locations are super friendly, and are always willing to give recommendations. The interior is super cute, with a minimalist cave-like design.

Just be prepared for crowds because it can get very busy with college students, especially at night. The space itself is pretty small, but they have a drive-through, online ordering, and the option to order with someone at the counter. I usually order the taro slushy with light ice and less sugar because I don't like my drinks overly sweet. I've always enjoyed the drink itself, and I also like that their cups feel sturdy and higher quality than the thin plastic cups you get at many other drink shops. The fries were also good. It's a bit pricey $7 for the fries. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a horrible experience. I placed an online order and saw my name on the drinks that were ready at the counter. No staff members were around, so I reached over to grab my order. An employee suddenly appeared and told me that I couldn't just take it. There wasn't a sign telling customers to wait, and at places like Starbucks and other drink shops, completed mobile orders are normally left at the pickup counter for customers to grab. I understand if they have a different policy, but it should be clearly posted and communicated politely. I also requested no seasoning on my crispy tofu because I don't like their seasoning. The manager rudely told me they couldn't do that because it was supposed to come with seasoning. However, I contacted their customer service team afterward, and they confirmed that the tofu could absolutely be customized without seasoning. They even offered to replace it with a complimentary order prepared the way I originally requested. When I returned and explained the email I received, the manager acted very skeptical and almost seemed like she didn't believe me. The entire interaction made me feel uncomfortable, especially when I was only trying to receive the replacement their team had already offered me. I liked coming here for the taro slushy and convenient late hours, but after the way this situation was handled, I don't think I'll be returning.

My wife and I visited during lunch on a weekend and it was no wait whatsoever. Easily placed our orders and it was about a 5-10 minute wait for our drinks, very nice overall. Staff is friendly and quick which is always nice to see for a tea shop. They have plenty of options to go around, usually they'll have a sample for you to try which is nice if you can't decide on your drink choice. I absolutely love the mango or lemon condensed milk series, it's a mix of yakult style drinks on top of a bit more of a gushy feeling when you're sipping. Mix that with a bit of kick and you have the perfect drink for a hot day. Absolutely recommend trying it. Overall, a well maintained shop, although can get really packed during the peak hours, it's absolutely worth checking their store out. Pictures do it no justice--you absolutely have to try it. I tried it the next morning after refrigeration and microwaving for 22sec, and it was so delicious, I finished the entire piece! And now I'm super full. But it was worth it. They also have a chocolate version that I was considering, but opted to go with their most popular, which is yummy enough to go out of your way for.
