Just opened. The salsa bar is a treat. Happy hour is from 4~7, Monday thru Friday. We had the fajita's for one, but there was enough for both of us. The beef was cooked perfectly; it had a char on the outside and medium in the middle. The onions and peppers we terrific!! The food is made fresh and you taste it. The only concern I have is they charge full price for sangria during happy hour; at $6 per small wine glass, it seems a little pricey. The bottle beer was $3., spot on for happy hour. I wanted to give it 2 stars for atmosphere but the food was so bad that I just cant. The place was cute and the staff was friendly. However, $10 for 2 soft tacos and rice? What? Never seen that kind of price at a Mexican restaurant. But whatever. If they're good, I'll spend more regularly! They were horrible. My plate came and there were these two tiny little tacos. Had a much better experience than at the other location in short pump! The food was hot, & delicious although a little slow to come out. I got the Comida Delux which is enough to feed 2 people! The portion was very large and I ended up eating half the next day for lunch. Their salsa & house made chips are also tasty & I highly recommend the tres leches cake! This was our first visit. We really enjoyed it, and will more than likely go back. There was a great deal of choices for the kiddos and they were not large portions, so that was great. I ordered the fish tacos, they were delicious. My hubby ordered a burrito, it was big but not huge. The chips are amazing and the service was great. We were surprised at the receipt total. Only $50 for four persons, it included 3 adult beverages and one desert. Took a group of 30. Scary enough thought...but I called and Nathan was on it. They had everything set before we got there, we had two fabulous servers, Aubrey & Kaitlin, and the food was absolutely wonderful. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, we were all full...plus everything came out within a couple minutes, which for a group that size was impressive on its own. We went out to eat cause my son wanted TACOS for Tuesday. So we decide on Chuy's. We didn't wait and we were sat at a table right away. Our waiter GREG came over got drinks orders and came back quick with the drinks. We order our food and when it came out it tasted delicious. The main reason for the 5 star is our waiter GREG he was great! He was friendly,funny and listened. He heard me say that we added sugar free lemonade to my son's water because he has to watch his sugar. That's is all I said(my son is Type 1 diabetic). Well, we were finishing up and he asked if we wanted the check and mentioned in a lower voice that the kids meal came with ice cream but wanted to ask if we wanted it because I had mentioned we limit sugar. I'm conflicted. I love the ambiance inside the restaurant and our service was responsive and quick. The chips and signature sauces were yummy - as they should be at a Tex Mex place. The food and drinks were also good - but fairly standard. The Pancho nachos had about 8 half tortilla nachos - good size but not huge - not the mountain of nachos I want when I think nachos. We were there on National Margarita day and the specials were a dollar off - on frozen only. So let me be clear I did enjoy my sugary blackberry Marg but I paid 10 bucks for it. I'm not really a fan of Tex-Mex food, but I finally found something I can order whenever I go. My family likes this restaurant and they have some delicious sauces. I do wish their local beer selection was better, with more selections on draft. The atmosphere is family-friendly, staff is attentive, and the parking is great. I appreciate their involvement with local schools and awarding Honor Roll students with a few kids meal for their achievement. I love Chuy's! I don't live near one, but my sister does. Needless to say, every time I visit we eat here and/or get carry out! The inside decor is very eclectic and fun! Staff is always very nice and accommodating. This particular time I ordered the beef fajitas which were great and served over a heaping bed of spicy sautéed onions and peppers. I have also tried the steak burrito which is delish but, my favorite is the chile relenos. You can customize it to have stuffed with whatever filling you want and just like for most items on the menu, you can pick what sauce is drenched over top! There's Tex-Mex and Mexican food. Chuy's is both while leaning towards Tex-Mex. being from New Mexico, I know authentic Mexican food and having lived in Texas, I also know Tex-Mex. Chuy's is the best Mexican food in RVA. I've been all over RVA and eaten at many "Mexican" restaurants. None even remotely compare to the fresh chips, tortillas, foods and salsa. The worst thing in Mexican cuisine is when you order and the food comes to your table in 10 minutes. That means reheated and not fresh. Chuy's takes the time to prepare and never disappoints. Chuy's is my favorite restaurant on Hull Street hands down. You can confidently pick from the menu as you please. It's gonna be good. I haven't had a single bad experience there and I've gone there a lot. I love ordering from the daily specials especially on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They just recently added a couple of new dishes to the weekend specials menu. I can't wait to try hose out. I'm sure they're great. Their prices are reasonable enough that I can feed my family of four above 12. And my wife enjoys the margaritas for sure. They always have cool music playing. The waitstaff are quick and attentive. The food comes out of the kitchen very quickly usually. You get free chips and salsa and I believe if you get there before 7 there is even a nacho bar with more dips like chorizo and cheese. read more

This was my first Chuy's experience. I personally thought the food was ok, but my husband loved it. They were is the process of trying new some menu items and he selected one of those. Our waiter was friendly and enjoyed telling jokes. We heard him tell the same jokes to everyone who came in. :) Everyone appeared to enjoy him. We've been here a couple of times before with good experiences. I really like their tacos and their bean burritos are quite tasty considering it's just beans. Lol. Today we came and got a kids apple juice with no ice (cause the kids don't like their drink too cold). The waiter brings out a half empty cup of juice and when I enquired about it he said when we order it with no ice it comes half full. I've never heard of such a policy. Seems incredibly stingy. I'd love to hear the manager's rationale: "yes sir, we saved $0.30, and all it cost was customer satisfaction!" My family and I eat here at least twice a week since opening. We were thrilled when they opened as we used to frequent the original in Austin. We absolutely LOVE everything about Chuys!! The food is delicious authentic Tex-Mex and the service is top notch. You will search endless to find better steak fajitas. The chips are light and perfect, different than any other chip out there. The queso is superb and I am absolutely baffled that anyone would complain about any of the food here. We've been her so many times I think we've eaten everything on the menu! People have referred to other "Mexican" restaurants in their reviews, well I have one thing to say, I have eaten at the so called Mexican restaurants, in the area and there is absolutely no comparison. Other "Mexican" restaurants run by people from everywhere but Mexico, and there is NO other Tex-Mex in the area at all. FYI: there's a difference in Tex-Mex and these so called Mexican food places. People that have any complaints obviously have no concept or appreciation for authentic Tex-Mex food. There is absolutely nothing bland about the food here! All mind blowing flavor!!! My kids love the kids meals too and they even get ice cream!!! The portions are extremely generous for everyone! Prices are way more economical because the portions are so large and at least they give you rice AND beans on your plate unlike anywhere else. Chuy's was not bad. We started with their house salsa, that was surprisingly extremely spicy. I didn't mind too much but I was with my mom and a couple kids who thought they were dying after they ate it. Perhaps there should be a mild option too. We ordered a starter of their guac (no tableside) and we basically all fought over it the bowl was so small. For some reason I decided to order Enchiladas, which I never do because I'm not a fan of the corn tortilla. And as expected, i wasn't a fan of it. Everyone else liked their food though and we liked the many sauce options, particularly the one with the citrus/cilantro blend. And service was spot-on.
