Charred is one of my new favorite spots! Restaurant is open, clean, and not too loud. Our waitress Abby was so attentive, and since we haven't been there before she educated us about the menu and gave us some recommendations. Since it is our first time, she passed it on to the kitchen manager kyndell, who kindly brought us the palmetto chicken sliders. They were savory and sweet and amazing! The Bri appetizer was delicious as well, with crunchy bread to serve with. On to the lunch : both got the smash burgers, sweet potato fries, and regular fries. Regular fries were seasoned to perfection, and crunchy. Sweet potato fries were waffle and dusted with a little sugar. Both were great! Burger was crispy and you can tell it was a quality meat. House sauce was good as well! Dessert: we got the bacon wrapped dates which was the star of the show. Such a creative concept, came with goat cheese and honey! They were amazing, and I could have had 10 more. The flavors paired perfectly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, Abby and kyndall really made our time special. This was our first visit to Charred and will quickly say we had a nice meal. Now I will say that I've round up my overall star rating. If I could I would have given it 4 1/2 stars, because it was good but not great but definitely well enough not to drop it to a 4. Let's start with the location: very nice and everything seems real clean and cared for. Even the men's room was decent at 6:00 pm at night. Now our server: Sidney was very attentive to us. She took very good care of us during our stay. Now the meal: Again it was good. The wifey had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. She tells me the sauce had a nice flavor but the chicken really had no flavor. Certainly not a Blackened flavor you would expect. The chicken itself was good and tender. As for me I had Shrimp and Grits. It also was good. It had onions and peppers in it and again the flavor of the onions and peppers just want there. Who knows. We also had the Brick Oven Brie. There was a really nice amount of Brie. So much that the toasted bread ran out way before the Brie. So as I said this was a good place and meal despite my small hits in this review. My new favorite place! love the house pizza and yes, I ate the whole thing! Partner always chooses the catfish sandwich. By the way his face looks when he is eating, he is in heaven. Oh man, my husband and I frequent Charred and we love it! It is such a hot spot for us. This time we ordered the Brussels and pimento cheese to start, like we always do, because they are full of so much flavor. I especially love to save the cheese for dipping the crust of my pizza in! Which, is a spoiler alert. We ordered the Charred signature pizza and it was, as per the usual, awesome. Wow. This was the first time we've been here and I'm so impressed with the whole experience. It's very laid back. The place is a little dark but it's okay... and our waitress was very nice! The crab dip was some of the best I've ever had. It was lump crab and so cheesy and the bread was very soft! The Brie burger with the bacon jam was pretty good with the sweet potato fries. My friend had the white cheddar mashed potatoes and i had a taste and they were pretty good. They were real potatoes.... Nothing out a box or a bag. Stopped at Charred for dinner. This is my 2nd visit ~ of course I needed to quench my thirst so I started with the blackberry bliss, it was ok but a little tart for my liking. Now for the food: Appetizer: Crab dip of course; and those crostini's I could just eat those ~ 3 1/2 Seared scallops with mushroom risotto, grilled asparagus and black garlic butter 4 They were out of the cut of steak I wanted so I decided on the Charred burger which is a 7oz patty, brioche bun, pimento cheese which was delicious by the way (would definitely get it on my fries), smoked bacon, pickled fresno relish and shredded lettuce. The burger was very flavorful and juicy. How could I forget to mention the fries...crispy and well seasoned 5 Service was great! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We sat outside on the patio and it was nice but I had to keep shooing flies away so I think I'll stick to the inside but inside is nice. I love the view of the kitchen. We went with our friends to Charred last night. It was just okay. We started with the brussels sprouts as an appetizer and they were very good. All of us enjoyed them. My husband and I had the ribeye steak and it didn't appear to be seasoned at all. I had come into this dinner craving steak and it didn't really satisfy my craving because it wasn't very good. My friend had the salmon and said it was excellent. Her husband had the smash burger and said it was excellent. Our husbands had the cheesecake which they said was good. My friend had the creme brulee which is her fav thing on the menu. I had the bread pudding which was good but a bit dry. The service was fair. We had a pleasant evening overall, and I want to start by saying the service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The pan-seared salmon itself was cooked well, but it was served with microgreens on top of the crispy skin, which caused the skin to become soggy by the time it reached the table. It felt like a small detail that took away from an otherwise well-cooked piece of fish. The risotto was very mild and could have used more seasoning or flavor, and the asparagus was softer than I prefer. We also ordered the salmon tostadas as an appetizer. The salmon was enjoyable, but the tostada shells were extremely hard and heavily coated, making them difficult to eat. I found myself eating only the salmon. My biggest takeaway was the value. For the price, I expected the side dishes and overall meal to have a bit more flavor and polish. While there were parts of the meal that were good, the overall experience didn't quite meet my expectations. I appreciate the good service and the effort that went into the meal, but I hope the kitchen considers refining some of these dishes because I think they have the potential to be much better. read more

I'm new to the area and have driven past this spot many times, so I finally decided to give it a try. It's clearly popular, as the place was quite busy. The food was delicious, and our waiter was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. I would have rated this 4 or 5 stars, but I didn't feel the host staff were particularly warm or welcoming--though that may have been due to the crowd. We also weren't asked about seating preference and were placed outside on a very hot day. Unfortunately, the flies were so bad that we ended up swatting them away for most of the meal and eventually decided to take our food home. Finally visited Charred and let me tell you this place is so good. I went out Friday night and wasn't super busy. They have an outdoor seating which is where I sat. The ambience here is great. It's kind of a sports bar kind of vibe. The service was amazing and really fast. I only ordered their chicken wings, which was honestly so good. I also got their sweet potato fries which came in such a generous portion. I didn't try any of their drink drinks, but they do have so many good, such a fun list. I will have to visit again to try their other meals and drinks. But this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

Another Great Meal! Totally unplanned we were in the area for something else and realized how close we were and always had a great experience. We tried a couple new items as never let down previously and did not disappoint. My husband had the chicken wings and said was some of the best wings he's ever had and definitely the best he's had in probably 10years!... I tried the jalapeno smashed burger and was delicious!!!... Have you ever had a meal you think back on? This one was that for me, I came in town for a wedding and since I'm not from the area I went to my old reliable, TikTok, and tried to find somewhere reputable that I and my date would enjoy. There was patio seating and music playing outside and I felt welcomed from the couples conversing outside and a couple of groups leaving out. Once we came inside we were seated with no wait and after a long drive I just wanted a martini and something good to eat. It didn't take us long to decide on what we wanted and once our food arrived all conversation ceased and nothing was heard but the sounds of us devouring our meals. My date had a giant burger and fries I a steak seasoned to perfection and so tender, I also had a serving of cheesy potatoes and broccolini. By the end of the meal we hugged our way through the door and ended up warming up our leftovers later that night instantly reminded of how delicious our choices were. Walked in with some buddies for brunch, and sat at their beautiful constructed center bar. You can see the fire that they use for the pizza from the kitchen, which provides a nice ambiance. It was a beautiful day so they had the windows open which provided a great cross breeze (also have an outdoor area). I started with the Sparkling Limeade with Gin, which was great for how simple it is (lime, aviation, simple, and soda). Cocktails are a bit on the pricey side, but worth it to have one or two. I got the Chicken Biscuit Sandwich, which was pretty good -- wouldn't call it a classic southern biscuit but perfectly flaky and tasted great. The real star was the Pimento Grits. Dear Lord, the best damn grits I've ever had (my granny is probably cursing me from up on high right now) but I seriously ordered a second batch of them to go. We went today for a drink and late lunch. Got seated by the bathroom and even though it was not busy at all. We ordered a steak sandwich on a baguette with fries. Drinks were good. Lunch was probably the worst food I have ever had. Sandwich have at best 4 little pieces of chewy fatty strips of steak. Fries were dry, overcooked and old. We went to this restaurant and had the &10.00 Monday special which is any of their hamburgers and a side. Their cocktails were 5.00 and their beers 3.00. Our waitress Morgan was very attentive and our meal was fabulous! The hamburgers were just right and the sweet potato fries were excellent. As a vegetarian, I was never excited to visit Charred, which sounds like it would be very barbecue- and meat-heavy. However, I took a visiting friend here on a whim and we actually really enjoyed ourselves! There's a surprising number of vegetarian options on the menu. We shared the brussels sprouts, cornbread, white mushroom arugula pizza, and pimento cheese dip. The pizza was delicious actually, and the brussels sprouts and cornbread were very good. The pimento cheese dip was pretty much fine, nothing mind-blowing. Service was attentive and hospitable, which I appreciated. Honestly would recommend this spot in Midlothian to try once even for vegetarians! The menu is large enough to find something interesting and they have a nice patio for outdoor seating when the weather is nice. read more

But there was a suuuuuper long hair in my drink (i have locs)...... the pic doesn't even do it justice. it was found in the "side car" cocktail, as I was removing the lemon peel, my friend noticed it and i immediately put the peel in my empty drink... thank goodness i didn't drink it, and simply didn't want the peel and decided to take it out first. My gosh, was I nervous, but it was recommended by the waitress. Water is left at the table for your pleasure of refills. Eggs scrambled with cheese (do not recommend) cheese was liquidity and white. Hard pass, egg no flavor at all. French toast, thick slices (the gave me the butt slice, ugh ask for middle slices). It is topped with a jelly like paste and glazed pistachios nuts (swiped to the side) and butter. Lawdy, there was a lot going on for the French toast (if recommended, go back and read it... lesson learned). The bacon was good as well. The home fries (potatoes), mine were sitting in grease, so I didn't eat those either. Oh yeah, a la cart .....$$ to $$$ for two people, nothing is sharable size.
