Surprisingly good. I say that in light of the obvious focal point of a long bar and sports TVs. We had a great late lunch. The Hot Brown was delish, with ample bacon and great brown sauce. It came with very well seasoned fries that tasted good even when not quite warm any more. My Kuba Libre (the sammy not the cocktail) was packed with incredible flavor, with lots of ham, pickles, and a well done (as requested) burger. 5 star sandwich, even though the sandwich design did not for a moment assume anyone could pick this up and hold it together. It is a sloppy mess. BIG thanks for the chosen side of dressed greens.... the salad greens were well selected for lots of flavor (okay even if it is a Sysco mix you chose well) and the dressing was very good -- good enough I chose to finish my salad instead of my sandwich. The bartender waited on our table and paid proper attention. TVs were tuned to golf, soccer, and tennis. Volume was off. Will definitely stop in again.
Had a great time at The Continental! Met up with a friend for a little after work meal on a weekday and we were seated outside rather quickly. The menu spans a variety of items from sandwiches to pizzas to pasta and even more. There is definitely something for everyone and I struggled picking something because everything sounded so good. I ended up choosing the Penne Continental which came covered in a delicious gorgonzola sauce and sides of garlic bread. The portion size was incredible and I even had leftovers for the next day. The ambiance outside was wonderful with pretty lighting and what appeared to be a cherry blossom (or other pink flowering) tree out in the front. They even have heaters available for the cooler spring winds. The service was quick and I was able to enjoy the area. I would definitely return to try those other menu items I was eyeing. Warning it is mainly street parking with a few paid lots. It was quite hard to find parking on the Thursday we went so I'd keep that in mind.
My fave place to go for a giant salad! The Easthampton and Kale Caesar are top tier. Love the jalapeño cornbread muffins that come with as well. They have just the right balance of sweet and spicy. The service is always friendly and the place has a chill neighborhood vibe.
Came here w my wife--so many people have told us to try it since we moved to Richmond from Austin half a year ago. We were not disappointed. Nice ambiance...like an old diner really, but darker so a more chill than busy vibe. Service was great, and the food too--nice Happy Hour specials. My wife and loved the cheese fries and the wings--tried both the Ancho chile and white Bbq sauces. The Titanic wedge salad was huge!...like a wedge on top of the other wedge all cut up...big! It came w a jalapeno cheese cornbread muffin too. Excellent. They allow dogs in the front part thats outside and covered, and more outside seating exists beyond that which you can bring your dogs to. 5 stars.
Great to be in westhampton on a fall day. The continental is casual (I could say dive-y even), booth with high backs and a big-o bar. The food is very nice. I didn't manage to take photos except the desert, but my dining partner enjoyed the salmon Reuben and a daily special. I was so intrigued by the intention of a salmon Reuben but I suppose it's healthier? Anyway it tastes just like a Reuben sandwich with its very tasty sauce. The key lime pie is also quite nice. You know what they say - you can't get the real key-lime pie outside the Keys. But I think this is a pretty good version. Our waiter was very friendly and prompt. Great experience for a quick lunch.
I love the continental! It is my go to spot in the entire city! I love the location and the staff is lovely! Inside has a fun feeling to it and there is so much space on the patios for outdoor dinning! The drinks are so good! This time I got an aperol spritz, but you can't go wrong with any of there drinks! My go to meal is either the turkey dip or the three Chopt, which is their spin on the cob salad! Servings are monstrous! I always take half my meal home!
Always a great spot for food and a nice hole in the wall vibe. I've eaten here for years and have always loved it. Dinner, lunch, brunch, etc, this is a consistently good spot that's roots have been planted for a long time! The vodka limeades take me back to when I used to visit this place for brunch in college. Now I need a solid kids menu! They've got great variety of hot and cold dishes. I love fried oysters and these are top notch. I usually order their salads (Greek has a ton of protein with grilled chicken and huge slices of fresh feta cheese!) and my husband goes for a French dip whenever he can. Only piece of advice of things to skip the regular French fries. They seem like they were frozen and aren't very good. Go for the sweet potato fries or hand cut chips. I believe they are house made and are very delicious! If there was an up charge, it was well worth the substitution!
I came here on happy hour with my friends and the atmosphere is pretty chill here. The staff were pretty busy but they were still pretty nice. I ordered a Salmon Rueben and My friends ordered the appetizers. The Calamari was meh but everything else I had, was so buss. I wouldn't come here for a family dinner but I would come here for the happy hour.
The happiest of all hours! The vodkas limeades are the best! This is my "go to" restaurant and the one I most recommend to out-of-towners and locals alike! All the sandwiches are delish, specials are fab, and the brunches are without equal! Run, don't walk, to the continental! Best place on the continent!
went during happy hour and had the best experience! the vibes were like a nicer dive bar, and the service was amazing! highly suggest the dirty fries
Continental is one of my favs!! This has to be the best place in town for classic American food where you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's all so good. I love the variety of seating options, the large booths, and the outdoor tables with heaters are great when it's nice out. Like I said, you can't go wrong with this menu. But my absolutely favorite is the beef French dip. And you have to get the Brussel sprouts on the side!
Amazing location right on Grove. Parking was a bit difficult to find during lunchtime. Service was fast considering the lunch rush. The food is your typical "bar food", but certainly not the best bar food I've had. The bacon burger I had was pretty burnt - every bite was hard and crunchy. The nachos were sad - they were a bit stale tasting, and the toppings were minimal.
Another delicious lunch at The Continental! I couldn't help but order the Salmon Reuben again -- this time with sweet potato fries. My husband had the Hot Kentucky Brown, which was huge and very good. Service is quick and friendly. This place really fills up for lunch. By 12:05, only two tables were empty, and then they filled up. The vibe is casual and comfortable with well stocked bar. The Continental in Westhampton is a real gem! read more
The Continental is a great spot with a varied menu and consistently good food. Their Cobb salad is one of my favorite in Richmond with generous portions, delicious toppings, and maximum freshness. I also love their salmon Ruben! As a pescatarian, I am always on the look out for creative fish dishes and the salmon Ruben always hits the spot. read more

They have a cute outdoor patio that is covered that we sat in (has two overhead fans for cooling). They also have tables uncovered kinda on the sidewalk and it looked like there were heaters beside some for the colder months. Great service. Portions sizes huge. Penne pasta was the winner - super rich. read more

Super cute spot. Went in at 2:30 on a Monday so there was no crowd and parking was pretty open on the street. The kale Caesar was delicious and massive! The service was super quick. Would definitely like to come back! read more

I visited The Continental today for lunch with co-workers. I ordered the BLT - it was okay. I like goodtttt bacon and this was just average. I will say everything they brought out the kitchen looked delicious. I would definitely order the club sandwich next time. read more
This place was good with some good food and some so so foods, the service was solid, which I include in that an amazing happy hour! The atmosphere is probably super appealing to the cool kids but it's packed and loud for me. They had the music up super loud which I'm never a fan of when I'm there to talk with folks. Mozzarella cheese sticks... Most unique take I've experienced in my life and I've had a lot of cheese sticks in my day. Worth a try but not for me. Margherita pizza was solid. Barstool 7.0 equivalent. Great nachos and great salad. Look at this thing! Parking was a pain! Street parking that had no spots. Used the paid lot in back (they don't validate). read more

We went to the Continental to celebrate our first date there five years ago. I decided to order what I had then, for nostalgia sake, the brisket sandwich that I had fond memories of. What I was brought has left me in a tough spot. I The flavor was really good, but it was not the brisket sandwich I expected. You can't call it brisket. It was like stew meat, some very fatty pieces and a few very dry chunks. It had already soaked through the bun before it made it to the table. I ate it open faced. I can't call it great, but I also ate all of it. What a conundrum. I give my meal three stars, but am rating a four because my husband's pork dip sandwich and fries couldn't have been better. Our waiter took good care of us. I've been here several times and this is the first time I've ever had any complaint. I'm definitely not discouraged from coming back. Also, I like the new outdoor seating! I don't remember seeing it there before. read more

I have been going to Richmond so much lately since moving back to coastal VA. I love finding new places to visit. A friend of hours recommended The Continental Westhampton. I'm so glad he did because everything we had was fantastic! My husband tried a Watermelon beer they had on the menu, and enjoyed it. I ordered their version of pigs in a blanket.... Seriously it was so good! The sausage was flavorful and big. Oddly enough I had to get some sweet potato fries after I saw them in a plate go past me. I'm glad I did! They were crisp and hot. My son ordered the Greek salad. The size of the salad was more than enough... no complaints. It came with a so May fresh ingredients including some pita. His favorite was the peppers. The BLT, burger and everything else was amazing. Gosh, I am ready to go back now and try more items from their menu. We sat outside in the porch area. If you need AC you may have to wait for indoor seating that can be cramped, noisy and a little warm. Pricing was perfect! Our waitress hustled, and was so nice. Great place! Go here... just do it! read more

Back in August I decided to come here to celebrate my birthday and wow they didn't disappoint! A great variety of foods and drinks and even HH specials. The staff was very accommodating of my party and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the evening! I opted for the club and sweet potato fries and it was all very good! My Sis ordered the salmon Caesar salad and she said it was really good! Cocktails were solid and overall I'd rate The Continental Westhampton 8/10, definitely returning for brunch! read more

Large portions. Definitely shareable! I had French Dip. Hubby had Bacon cheeseburger which was loaded with bacon! Needed more flavor on the meat as well as in the aus jus. Good fries! Good thing we got there early, 11:30 am as the place fills up fast! read more
Finally made it back here but to actually eat this time. The drinks and beers are always delicious but I wanted to try the food this time. App- goat cheese was delicious with this nice balsamic/honey type glaze. Perfectly baked with bread and arugula salad Entree- the home run burger came with bbq, cheese and burger patty- it hit the spot. I do wish i got fries vs chips but i will be back Wife got the BLT and she said it hit the spot too. Tons of bacon and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Great atmosphere with awesome tunes. Will be back to try the burrito! read more
