This is a wonderful place. They have a great deal. All you can eat brunch with all you can drink mimosas for 20$. Sounds awesome right? Well! We waited 30 min after ordering for half the table to receive a single drink, 45 min for the other half. It was even longer for half the table to receive food. You don't get enough food. They bring a small drink and tiny helpings of food, then vanish for what seems like an eternity. I left hungry. I just couldn't order anything and waited far too long to receive anything I did manage to order. It's a lovely place with a very comfortable atmosphere. My wife is big on onion rings, so we started with the Boardwalk basket, and chose onion rings and tater tots for our two choices. The onion rings were very average. I don't think we even ate them all. But the tater tots were awesome. Very crispy and cooked perfect. For our meals, my wife chose the Longboard tacos, which were pretty good. I had the PoBoy sandwich, which gives you an option of shrimp or mahi-mahi. I went with the fish, and it was excellent. Even though it comes on a roll and not a bun, like a traditional fish sandwich, this may be the best fish sandwich I have ever had in the Richmond area. Also refreshing to have a non-chain on the Hull Street corridor. I had the mahi tacos with corn tortillas and my husband had the Mahi poke bowl. The flavors in the tacos were tasty, great combo with the sauce / the pickled onions. The fish bites; however, were incredibly overcooked. They were dried out and almost crunchy. Visited Sand Dollar Beach kitchen for a girls night.. based solely off their Facebook post about their "lighthouse". (It's a tower drink). Thought it would be super fun for a girls night out. Service was good... however our waitress told us the lighthouse was $18... it was $32 lol. My recommendation - don't do it. It was all juice. Like, not a hint of alcohol. It's about 6-7 drinks but you'd be better off just purchasing a regular cocktail. Their food is mediocre at best. I had a jerk chicken wrap. It was spicy but that's about it. Very dry. They do have some $5 happy hour specials. I got chips and dip which was guacamole, pico, and nacho cheese. The cheese is similar to what you'd get a movie theater. I'm sure guacamole isn't homemade. I feel like Tropical Smoothie makes better Caribbean food. The only good thing is majority of their menu is priced well. read more

Great little spot in this new strip mall. I ordered the Sand Dollar BuRger and it was pretty decent. The fries and tots were crispy and golden. I will definitely love to try an Açaí Bowl or salad next time. My kiddo didn't want any partss of my lunch that I shared, but I inhaled it. Love the bright interior, and it almost feels like you're in a beach town local spot. The high chair was a bit too snug for my frIends 21 month old, seemed the bar was too low on the legs, if you go and use one you'll see. We have the Sand Dollar Beach Kitchen another try today. As expected from the last time it has been a few months even though we are incredibly close and convenient to their location. Appetizers don't seem to be terribly great but are okay. I do think the mahi poke bowl is so far the best menu item we've seen. The burgers, kababs, and other bowls were all okay but think the mahi bowl is the first one I would order again. I haven't seen anything so good as to give me the inspiration to try their crab cake, something I only order with high expectation and trust. So, after trying a number of things here over a handful of visits I unfortunately think the Sand Dollar Beach Kitchen is going to stay in the 3 star, "just okay" level of dining. As of now I think it might just be a fun place to sit out in the sun and share fruity, bright-colored drinks with friends on an afternoon which... is fine. Considering their physical location they're poised to be packed Mon-Sun if they were able to really bring delicious food, good value, and increase their attention to details, expand their craft beer list, and improve on some of the menu items (I'll never order the poke bowl served in the pineapple again, as much fun as that entree sounds). Absolutely amazing! Had the best apps with the hubby the other night. We've lived in this part of town for a while now and are so happy to see great small businesses like the Sand Dollar thriving! Had Calamari for the first time here and was so impressed (even came with it own sauce!). The manager there, Aaron, was so personable and reminded me of our (now unilaterally estranged) son! We told him this and he was so gracious about it. We'll be sure to come back just to hear his beautiful laugh again. Great people and excellent food.
