TL;DR: good food options that were all tasty, and good service Came here to grab lunch before our round at Independence (connected to the pro shop). There are plenty of seating, indoor and outside. Service was nice and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Their menu had a lot of different offerings from burgers, to pizza, to entrees. FOOD: ~Sticky Ribs (4.5/5): actually fall off the bone tender! The sauce was tasty. Only thing was the ends were a little too burnt, but it wasn't inedible - gave that nice char taste. ~Italian Grinder (5/5): Typical italian sandwich, but the bread was so good. The roasted peppers added a nice kick, and the sauce was yummy. ~Fries (5/5): love battered fries! And they were seasoned really well ~Catfish and grits (4/5): the grits were wonderful consistency. Catfish was fried really well and was extremely tender. The sauce was so flavorful, but it was very heavy. At first I was worried about the huge chunks of celery, but thankfully, it didn't have that strong celery flavor and added a nice crunch. Gone downhill. They were struggling, offered 8onyourplate, whatever it was. $25 bought a $50 "Groupon" type deal through Channel 8 news. They honored it by QR code on the phone, they got busier...stopped accepting, told us we "needed to print it." Menu has changed, new staff, does not fit the bill of the location or venue. Management needs to take a look. And the $1.99 "shed" style locks on the bathroom doors. I stood outside the bathroom for 7 minutes thinking the bathroom was occupied; no, the faulty doorknob was just locked and the shed latch was open. Trashy. and the Place is dirty. Independence and Founder's Bridge should bump up a notch. The menu is funky to say the least. Just look up the blueberry grilled cheese. Sad attempt at a "gastropub." Get a life guys. Scan the QR code and honor your promotional attempts to brung business to a once dying restaurant. Lastly, try live music on Thursdays indoors. Expand or reinvent. 2 out of 10. Just finished the State Open, we came into the Tavern 19, sat at a dirty table (was open so we took it), sat for about 20 minutes, not even a glance by the many staff members who were on shift, and had to finally flag one of them down. I got the Chopped Brisket Salad. When the food finally got there, the salad had no brisket on it. Had to get the waiter to go get it. Flavors were all good, at least the brisket was tender. Everyone else's plate at our table looked good. This comes down to the execution. Very poor. Anyway, some days you nail it and some days you don't. read more

Some friends and I were looking for a place to grab dinner and stopped here based on the good reviews. We didn't realize that this was located inside a country club until we arrived. I got the Tavern burger with sweet potato fries, one friend got nachos and my other friend got the cranberry brie grilled cheese. My burger looked and tasted good, although it was a bit more pink in the middle that I'm used to. My one friend said the cranberry brie grilled cheese was inedible (to which the server replied, well, it's new and it may not stay on the menu), and my other friend enjoyed her nachos. Later that evening, I got sick with stomach cramps and kept running to the bathroom for hours, most likely from the undercooked burger. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

My husband and I were looking for somewhere different to have lunch and this place popped up in my search. The drive up was a little intimidating, we were dressed casual and were afraid underdressed, but we were gladly welcomed. When you first walk in you have to turn to head down a hallway to the restaurant. It was smaller than expected but nice seen as we were the first ones there. We started with bloody Mary's and the pretzel appetizer. The mustard was nice and spicy, the larger one was what tasted like melted pepper Jack (my favorite) and the other was like a sweet tangy taste. Our sandwiches and side were great and then of course dessert. I love red velvet and, when I saw they had it in a Nightingale bar, I knew I had to have it. It was excellent. We then paid and thanked our lovely server and left very full and happy. We will deffinalty be back. read more

Me and my husband had the NY steak and lobster Mac and cheese and both meals were PHENOMENAL. They were literally cooked to perfection. It was so good that we had to tell the cook Wade thank you for the meal. Our bartender Alesha gave us amazing service and great drinks as well. She was very attentive and sweet. Came here one night with my girlfriend because the place we originally wanted to go to was booked. We didn't realize this place was part of a country club but the seating area is pretty cool, dimly lit and a nice quiet vibe. The entrance into the place is very weird but it has to be because of Covid. The entrance kinda makes it seem like you're sneaking into the restaurant. We ordered brussel sprouts to share which were great. I ordered the birria tacos which tasted good but the portion is kind of sad. Two tacos is more like a snack instead of a dinner. The consommé they served with the tacos was really good though and the onion rings I ordered as a side were really good. My girlfriend ordered the flounder po boy and I kind of wished I ordered that because it was a pretty large sandwich and it tasted really good. I think I'd come back to this place but I feel like it's more of a place to get lunch, not dinner. I really want to try their pizza though because their pizza menu looks really good. read more

We were in the neighborhood and had heard good things about tavern 19, so we decided to stop in for lunch. Well, we were glad that we did! I decided on the jalapeño pimento cheeseburger, which was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. It was cooked perfectly medium rare (per my request) and served with homemade pimento cheese (awesome), jalapeños, lettuce tomato and bacon on a brioche bun. The pimento cheese was creamy slightly spicy and very unique. Just fabulous! My fiancé opted for the Buffalo chicken sandwich. This was a crispy Fried chicken breast served with Tavern 19's homemade buffalo sauce (sweet, spicy, very delicious), Cilantro lime slaw, pepper jack cheese, pickles on a brioche bun. We decided to skip the fries, tot's, and other less healthy options and choose side salads. We were very happy that we did. The salads were crispy, with fresh veggies and homemade croutons, served with their fantastic homemade salad dressings, (thousand Island was the best). Service was good. Food came out quickly. This place did not disappoint! We will be back for happy hour, brunch, lunch, daily specials, and definitely for their burgers and Buffalo chicken sandwiches! read more

This is the fairly new casual restaurant at Independence (completely public course no membership required). About a dozen seat bar with a small but good draft beer selection and cocktails. Probably about 20 tables - and can pull together for large parties. They probably can use the club house banquet hall adjacent for larger parties as well. Wood fire pizza. While it is really the bar for the golf course it is really a nice little neighborhood restaurant. Great casual place to stop in for a pizza (but a full menu as well with some great items - even pretty good wings). Healthy salad and fish options as well. As a restaurant in general I would probably give it 4 stars but I'm going to rate it 5 stars for what it is - an excellent neighborhood, family friendly, restaurant. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite for dinner. Had great service with a solid beer selection. The menu looked great! I decided on the fish and chips. The food came out within 10 minutes hot and fresh. The fish was definitely hand battered to order and awesome!! The fries are seasoned and so good. The homemade coleslaw was great as well. Worst experience ever. The managers claimed our reservations were confirmed by "mistake" and harassed us during our entire meal trying to get us to move to another table. Not our fault if they botched the reservations. No apology, no proffer of even a free dessert. So many restaurants need business right now. Usually love this place. But it's always hit or miss with the service. Went tonight and waited 30 minutes for someone to come by...no one came. Had to ask hostess twice for water and where our waitress was. She stated that there was a table of 13 outside and our waitress was probably busy. Hostess finally brought us water. Waited another 20 minutes for waitress to take a simple pizza order. Never showed. During this stretch of time, I walked to the bar or order a beer, and was met with the bartender telling me "I cannot serve you for a while, I'm so busy." I then watched 3 people walk up to the bar who she happily closed tabs for. The guys beside me told me thy had been waiting 10 minutes for a glass of iced tea. Don't know what the issues were today, but they need to get it together if they are going to continue to offer burger or pizza night deals. read more

We came here on a Saturday and we had read good reviews. There is plenty of parking. Upon walking in there is bar seating with a few big screen TVs and table seating as well. It was pretty empty as we came in and we sat at a table near the window. Our server Jaimi was friendly and was knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the chips and quest and it was really good. They have a nice draft beer selection and I had the Modern times Nitro and it was delicious. I also had the Kindred Spirit paradise lager and a beer from Bingo brewery, so they have some good local beers on tap. I ordered the grilled rockfish and it was excellent. My wife got the nachos and it was a big portion and she said they were really good. I have a garlic allergy and they made sure that everything I ate was good. The place can fill up if there is a golf tournament as there was when we left but the servers made sure to check on us frequently. I will have to come back and check out their burger. read more

It was our first time at this place. We were seated quickly and got to choose our own table. We sat by the window and it was pleasant, as we watched the golfers play. I had my usual Vienna lager from the tap. I ordered a Salmon salad and it was devine. The service was quick and pur waitress was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about their food. It was quiet and replaxing. When we pulled up into the car park it looked very very posh as if eating there would cost you a lot of money but it wasn't expensive at all. Great food and fun atmosphere. Horrible service. Have been here a few times and service is always bad. Good is brought out fairly quick and then you are forgotten. No drink refills are checking to make sure everything is okay. After plates were cleared we aired 25 minutes for the check. Ask a server for it and she said give me a sec. I guess her sec is different than mine. This was a Tuesday's night, can't imagine a weewknd Updating my review. From the moment you arrive on the golf course you know you'll be treated like royalty. From the hostess to the servers to the chef coming out table side to inquire about how the food was is all five star. We've eaten from there twice; once for Father's Day brunch and then last week. We started with the sweet potato biscuit topped with pulled pork and that was outstanding. My wife ordered the French toast with bacon and potatoes. She said it was some of the best French toast and potatoes she's ever had. I ordered the prime rib/brisket burger on a homemade potato roll. That was the best burger ever. It was velvety (if that's even a word), juicy and absolutely delicious. The hand cut fries were amazing also. The second time we just got take out and we ordered the shrimp po' boys. Let me just say we've had po' boys from all over the country and this was top tier. The shrimp, the slaw and the bun were stellar. That homemade slaw though!!!!!!!!!!!! Next on our agenda to try is the lobster rolls. I'll update and let you know but I'm only expecting five stars once again. I'd highly recommend Tavern 19 for brunch, lunch or dinner! read more

We visited for a brunch on a Sunday and I ordered an omelette and my husband the Eggs Oscar. I will start with saying the decor in the place is amazing ! We got there about 15-20 minutes after their opening and there were already two tables seated. It seemed that maybe they werent expecting as much traffic this early as we ordered two bloody marys and I noticed that a server and what appeared to be kitchen/floor manager were grabbing bottles of bloody mix and opening/stocking the bar. No biggie, the bloodys were good, but it was something I noticed and found a little odd. I attempted to order the Salmon & Rye but was told they were out of the salmon :( boo so I chose the omelette. It was good but salty. My husband loved the Eggs Oscar which had crabmeat and pretty substantial chunks from the one bite I was allowed. The server seemed a bit flustered the entire time which is always a bummer because it really distracts from the experience. He wasn't rude just appeared obviously overwhelmed. With 3 tables. I think we will probably come back and give it another go. I'm not saying it was bad, just meh. Love the location, decor and setting. read more

Bummed. Obviously changed chefs or the way they cook. Kids pizza is sub-par and extremely doughy. Luke warm bloody steak in black and blue salad. Pig and fig is giant figs and tons of them and not what it use to be. Brussel sprouts were not cooked and will have to finish the job at home. Parm Broccoli is the same super tough. Will not return and will stick with Galley Pizza if we want good pizza and Tazza for roasted veggies. Good luck. read more

So my wife and I found this place, because we woke up one morning and wanted to find a place with good brick oven pizza. Who would have known we would find it a golf course 19th hole! This place has turned into our guilty little secret.. whenever we want a good pizza and especially the breadsticks with cheese, this is the place to go! The views are great, you can watch people hit balls from the driving range or just look out the windows at the beautiful golf course. There is also outside seating for those nice days. The staff and service has always been excellent. Prices are reasonable, just all around a great place to grab some food and a drink. Highly recommend! read more

This was our first visit and we were not sure what to expect based on the reviews on this site. The service was fantastic. The servers were always moving and so busy it was hard to count them. We think there were 6 plus the bartender. We were immediately greeted by a super friendly hostess who explained she would wipe down a table for us right away. And she did. Big plus in my book: black napkins. Thank you. Tuesday is $2 off appetizers and half off pizza. We ordered the Picante Shrimp. Good sized lightly fried and properly seasoned shrimp drizzled with what we all probably know as "bang bang" sauce. There were easily 20 shrimp; served hot and delicious. Not too spicy; just right. We also ordered pizza. I had Pig & Fig- with light Gorgonzola cheese- thank you to the waitress for suggesting I order it "light"; good call. Husband had the "meat lovers" without prosciutto. Good call. Lots of traditional pizza meat with a nicely seasoned tomato sauce. These pizzas are easily 12 to 14 inches and are baked in wood burning oven. With a small salad the pizza is enough to share for an average person. Delicious. The room is noisy so if you want a quiet date night with private conversation, this is not the restaurant for you. Bare floors, high ceiling and no fabric to absorb noise. Ask for the Nightingale frozen ice cream sandwiches. Our total ticket for food only was $27. We will definitely go back. May be tomorrow for $6 burger night. We like this place. read more

Truly a well-kept secret in Midlothian - my husband and I decided to go b/c I wanted to hear the musicians playing. We sat at the bar and Haley was fantastic. She told us about all the incredible Wednesday specials, was friendly, fast and attentive. We felt like we were regulars there. You really can't beat the 1/2 price wine deals - it's on EVERY bottle, not just certain ones. We turned down the Date Night food option ($50 for appetizer, 2 entrees and one dessert) b/c we weren't hungry enough for all that food but plan to return for another Wednesday when we are. We shared the chicken quesadilla and some wings... all were great. The location is easy to get to and the sunsets are beautiful. Highly recommend. read more
