The food is always slightly above average, rib sticking mostly home cooked food. Decent adult drinks. Tonight we had horrible service. This establishment used to have older more experienced servers and by the "Hiring " sign out front. We had Dakota as our server, he was a newbie, which I don't hold against him. What I fault him for is being stupid. He did not know the menu, he did not know the specials and he did not write down our orders or write them down correctly. There's no excuse for this. I can't understand all the bad reviews! We've been here about 4 times now and have never had a bad experience. Everything we've ordered was delicious. Yes,it is a bit of a dive. Yes, service can be a little slow. Yes, it's not the most beautiful place; however, it's homey and comfortable. The servers are friendly and the food always seems to be made fresh at the time of ordering so a little wait is to be expected. I've only ever been during lunch hours, so I can't speak for the night crowd or the bar, but lunch has always been fantastic. Try the onion strings with the chipotle dip, the BLT club, the fried chicken ranch wrap... honestly, try anything. It's all delicious. If you can get your hands on the creamsicle cheesecake, you will not be disappointed. Again - this is not an upscale establishment, but if you're looking for good food at VERY reasonable prices in a laid back atmosphere, this is the place to go. read more

Went here for an early lunch. No one was attending the host podium and it took a few minutes before we were noticed. Table service after that was fine. The interior was very plain and a bit dated. The menu had a decent variety of items to choose from. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and although the portion and amount of filling was fine, the flavor was very lacking. Went to River's Bend Grill for the first time this evening for dinner. We went about an hour before closing and they weren't busy at all. We sat in a booth which typically is more comfortable but there are no cushions on the booths so not pleasing at all. They were short staffed so the host took drink orders until our waitress could come by. There were 3 of us. I got a seafood combo with oysters and crab cake. It came with a salad and potato of choice (I got fries). The salad was super watery. I typically love a side salad when I'm out to dinner but this one I was not a fan. The crab cake and oysters were pretty good. I like my oysters fried pretty hard so I don't see all the juices inside (lol) and a couple of them were done that way. My mom got a burger which she said was tasty and didn't appear to be a frozen patty. My boyfriend got some sort of steak tips and rice with peppers onions and mushrooms. He also got a wet salad which he didn't like. But he did say the steak tips were good. Overall, I may try again. They appeared to have a nice bar area but we were not offered a drink menu so we stuck to water and tea. read more

I dont reccomend this place at all. The service is poor, the food is bad and the interior is old and deteriorating. Not to mention the extreme scent of cigarette smoke that filled the dining room really killed my appetite. Service was lacking in a major way. We were sat at our table but then our server took forever to come back and get our drink order. She then walked by at one point to say someone was right behind her with our drinks... but they weren't. Finally they showed up and dropped a pen in my drink, so had to go get a new one. My husband tried to order a beer from their menu, but the menu isn't correct. He tried to order wings, but was warned it would take 25 minutes to cook because they have to make sure they are cooked through all the way. Which is unheard of for wings. It made us start to wonder if someone had complained in the past about undercooked food and that's why they now have to inform you of their cooking methods. The second server was in the middle of taking our order and stopped to answer the bars phone that she had and then just walked away. I figured I should go with something easy and skip seafood since they were already making us regret our decision. So we got boneless wings, a veggie wrap with roasted potatoes and a kids chicken tender meal with fries. There were pieces of boneless wings that were still cold in the middle, my wrap and potatoes were greasy and super boring flavor wise. Just a bunch of onions in a wrap. Took a friend to lunch today with a gift certificate I got for Christmas. When the bill arrived, the server said they weren't taking those yet bc they had a new computer that didn't accept them yet. I'm sorry-WHAT? You don't accept a gift certificate bought at your own place of business??!!! That's a YOU problem, not a me problem. What if I hadn't had the $ to cover it? They should take THEIR OWN GIFT CERTIFICATE and figure the rest out later, not force the customer to pay out of pocket. Also,they have a decent patio that could be better if they just swept it. Plastic grocery bags and general trash/debris all collect in one corner. I ordered the oyster dinner that came with hush puppies, some veggies and a baked potato. The oysters were perfectly cooked but over breaded. Loads of stuff in the menu, lots of good comfort foods and sandwiches. My mom got the French Dip and I got the BLT on sour dough. It wasn't her first time there and she knew she'd like it and it didn't disappoint her. My BLT sammich was terrific, it was actually served club-style with 3 pieces of bread - I took out the centerpiece to save in calories, so I could have some fries. The fries were pretty good. The folks there all seemed super nice and you could tell it was a locals place, the staff seemed to know most everyone. That's always sorta cool. Ummmm - think that's all I want to say. I'd really love to give this place more than 3 stars, but you can't overcook my tuna steak and expect me to give you more than 3. I would say that it has the potential to be more at the very least. My main issue is that I ordered a med-rare tuna steak and expected to have more than just a slight pink in the middle. Otherwise, the veggies and service were good. I had gone on a weeknight after a round of golf. Tired and hungry, the tuna steak would have hit the spot if it hadn't been over cooked. The service kind of seemed like a round robin since it appeared that who ever was closest or just happened to be walking by was checking on my golfing buddy and I. While on an errand, I found myself out in the area of this restaurant yesterday evening. Nearby there are a lot of chains. Trying to avoid those, I looked here in Yelp for a place for supper. Initially, I struggled to commit, because the reviews were all over the place. But, none of the other local spots grabbed my interest. So, I decided to take a chance and give this place a shot. I'm really glad I did! Read on for detail. They offer a low key, friendly, causal atmosphere. The restaurant isn't very big, but it's size suits it. It lends itself to cozy. There is also a small bar area. Again, not all that big, but the right size to allow for conversation between those seated at the bar. They offered a small selection of craft beers. The offering appeared to be well thought out. Because, there wasn't a lot of overlap in styles, i.e they did not have their entire beer tower stacked out with IPA's. Liquor selection wasn't extensive, but appeared to hit all the needed choices. Their whiskey offering wasn't very deep. However, they had some solid, premium options. Notably, they had one of my favorite bourbons. A very pleasant surprise, of which I took advantage. The menu offers a variety of items sandwiches, bar snacks, and other mainstay American traditional fair. They also have several seafood options. This was the route I decided to go. I ordered the Rockfish dinner. I had them grill it. You can also have it blackened or breaded and fried. In retrospect, I would have had them blacken it, I think. It was preceded by a very good sized Caesar salad with a wonderful dressing and plenty of cheese. I believe there were a few sides to select from, but I went with a baked potato. It was good and actually quite large. Their tartar sauce does not come out of a jar, and you can tell. It was quite good. It had flavor. Unlike that jarred mess. I thought that was a nice touch that they made their own. Now down to the key aspect to any social situation: the people. When I arrived, there were two bartenders working. Both were personable, conversational, and had great personalities. Needless to say, the service was great. But, then we have the patrons. They were great too! Some folks can be a little pensive going into an established local spot, because the locals can tend to shun outsiders in "their bar". But not here. Don't be concerned about that at this spot. I was engaged in conversation by several other customers. Everyone was friendly. It was a pleasant atmosphere. Everyone was interested in having a good time collectively. What a great evening! You know you've had a good time when you find yourself chuckling on the way to your car. The only downside to this place is that it isn't nearer to my home. Please check these guys out. read more
