This was my first visit, so I wasn't aware they strongly prefer reservations, even for a random Wednesday lunch. Since we didn't have one, we were seated at a community table, which would have been nice to know in advance as it definitely shaped the experience. Pricing felt high for the portion sizes. There is no lunch menu and you are paying dinner prices for lunch. I ordered the carne asada bowl. The steak had great flavor, but there wasn't much of it in the bowl. I kept hoping the next bite might have some more but it rarely did. This was disappointing since the rest of the bowl was lacking in flavor. We went for a random date night. We ordered the pork belly appetizer. It was the perfect size to share. The taste was great with the heat from the pepper slices. The pork was a tab tough, but nothing to complain about. I ordered short ribs over cuscus with mushrooms. The short ribs were very rich. Almost too rich. It needed something to break the richness. It felt like I was eating a pot roast with a rich sauce on it. My wife ordered chiaroscuro steak. I ate a few potatoes from that to help break up the richness of my meal. I visited Mosaic with friends for lunch. Reservations were very easy on the website and we were seated promptly. Our server was prompt and efficient. I had the Asian Chicken Salad and it was delicious. The setting in beautiful and relaxed with a definite "ladies who lunch" vibe. From the menu it appears they have seasonal themes. On February 13, 2026 we had a 7:00 PM confirmed reservation. Arrived a 6:55 PM reservation. Was instructed to wait at the bar. Took 35 minutes to serve drinks. Bartenders were focused on the waitstaff orders. Waited over 2 hours and then turned away. Host stationed appeared to be giving walk-in's special treatment, seating them immediately. They all seemed to know each other. One of the hosts kept disappearing to the open kitchen to kiss her guy friend. I guess being so close to Valentine's Day love was in the air. Not sure I'd pay to skip dinner and people watch again. On a positive note, did meet a nice couple and ended up grabbing Shake Shack (since we missed dinner service every where) on Broad St. I give those guys 5 stars. read more

Nice, cozy, scratch kitchen. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, between brunch and full lunch. Let's say 2pm. There was the option to order from the brunch or lunch menu. We chose lunch. I started with a French 75, my friend, a cup of hot tea. There were quite a few options of tea to choose from, some I've never heard of it! Nice! The French 75 was perfect. I ordered a second but my server forgot about to, I didn't bother. Besides that, service was exceptional. I ordered the green goddess salad with a salmon cooked medium and few modifications. No almonds, dressing on the side, added pickled golden beets, pickled onions and a hard boiled egg. It was basically 2 of their salads into one. It was absolutely divine!!!! Everything was so darn fresh. The salad was indeed served with the dressing on it, vs the side but that didn't bother me much. My friend ordered the black-eyed pea soup (I forgot the real name for it) and chicken egg rolls. The soup was only okay and we didn't enjoy the egg rolls at all. They taste more chicken empanadas. Met some friends here to eat while in Richmond. Arrived at restaurant and was seated right away. Ordered a round of drinks. I had the local IPA which was very good. My wife enjoyed her cosmo. We ordered the bean hummus for an appetizer. It was delicious that came with pita chips and cucumbers to dip with. For dinner a couple of us got the seared scallops, one the braised short rib, and another the fillet. My dish came with five nice size scallops. I felt two of the five had a fishy taste rather than a sweet taste like the other three. My wife loved her short ribs with grits and collard greens. She gave the greens which was very good. I came here not long ago and it's a beautiful place overall, ambiance and the atmosphere were lovely. I highly recommend the green tomatoes and brussel sprouts i'll continue to dream of them. For my entree I ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl, I wasn't the biggest fan it just had a slightly odd combination of flavors and wasn't really filling despite also indulging in the appetizers, but if you enjoy a light meal it may be worth trying. Didn't effect my experience or service though, just should've ordered the sriracha chicken I think hehe. read more

We've been to this restaurant twice recently. Both times, the ambiance was great, service was okay, and 3 out of 4 dishes came overcooked. The scallops were the only dish that was cooked appropriately. Two of the dishes were supposed to be medium rare and came medium well. One dish was supposed to have poached eggs and the yolk was entirely cooked. I mentioned the eggs to the server and she did nothing about it. The drinks are great, but, if I'm paying over $50 per person for brunch or dinner, I'm going somewhere else. Extremely disappointing to lose a local option. read more

Went back here specifically to get the forbidden rice bowl with salmon because the last time I had it, it was one of the most amazing salmon dishes I've ever had. But for some crazy reason, somebody decided they had to change up the dish and it no longer has forbidden rice, and the salmon is no longer beautifully glazed. Mosaic is a nice small upscale restaurant. The entrance is very inviting and when you walk in it's a great looking dining area. Although it's pretty close knit it didn't feel cramped. I attended a Bridal Shower brunch here and sat in the back past the bar. It was good spacing considering the size of the party. The mimosa flight was reasonably priced. The best mimosa on the flight was the apple cider. I ordered a classic BLT with home fries with aioli mayo. It was so flavorful and had a little kick. Very delicious for a simple BLT. The home fries were perfectly cooked with amazing seasoning. The service was okay. The server was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the group. He forgot some things after an extended wait. He also took a while to give the change back from a cash payment. I had to ask for my change and the he didn't give me all my change. I had to remind him of my bill and ask for him to give me the correct amount back. He then stated he thought he was keeping the change even though there was already a 20% gratuity included. Mosaic is such a great restaurant! It's located in such an adorable shopping center filled with coffee shops, clothing stores, and more. It provides indoor and outdoor seating options and plenty of parking. So you can bring a group or have a date night here. I love the wood, gold, ivory , and tan tones of the restaurant's interior. The food is absolutely delicious. Lots of people rave over their bowls, sandwiches, and Mac n cheese. I loved trying the brussel sprouts appetizer. They also have Happy Hour all Monday and monthly specials. The food met my friends and my exact specifications and came out perfect. If you haven't come to Mosaic yet, you should definitely get some reservations and give it a try! read more

Wait staff is friendly, menu is relatively new I've been told so I was recommended practically everything on the brunch entree menu. I made reservations but had access while waiting fir hostess to finish answering a call. The ambiance is a 5, nice cushioned settees by the window, very well appointed although paper napkins are used. I always order shrimp and grits for my quest if the best ever. Their version is slightly disappointing. They just have a huge portion of grits, slightly too dense. Then the sauce was just put to the side next to the grits instead of poured over it, which makes you have to mix all of it. The sausage was cut to a bias in large pieces rather than diced to better spoonful size. Nothing special. read more

I immediately fell in love with the decor when I walked in. I did not have a reservation, but that did not seem to be a problem. I was seated immediately. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The hall leading to the restroom was nice. There was a TV at the end of the hall. I could see this place as family oriented, as well as a date spot or a place to meet friends. Upon returned to my table the waitress asked me what I wanted to drink while I looked over my menu . I ended up ordering crabcake minis, crispy Brussels and fried green tomatoes. - The crabcake minis really didn't have a taste, like there was no seasoning . - The crispy Brussels were delicious - and the fried green tomatoes were OK. I think they were missing some kind of sauce with some flavor. A little over cooked but They were ok. Service was a little slow, even though there was hardly anybody in there. This place is so-so, nothing to write home about, we had reservations for the Xmas pop-up, the menu wasn't incredibly diverse, usual crab cakes, burgers, salads kind of pub food, I like that they've decorated for the holidays, however it has the ambiance of a high school cafeteria, the acoustics in this place are awful, no Xmas music and the place emptied out fast after happy hour which is very telling that the prices are way too high. While the restaurant has nice ambiance, the prices are way too high for what you get. All 3 of us got the salmon bowl with iced tea and the bill without tip was over $80.... The bowls tasted great but they don't give you enough to charge $25 a bowl. They really need to re-evaluate their prices or increase their portion sizes. read more

Came in for dinner with my family. We have eaten here many times and the food is almost always good. Tonight was no exception, however, our waitress really did a poor job. We ordered a bottle of wine and told the waitress we also wanted a couple cocktails. She walked away, out in to order for the wine, and then came back again to take the cocktail order. When we finished eating, she didn't clear our plates. We ordered three deserts to share and she only brought three forks for six people. We asked for more forks and several minutes later she came back and handed six forks to one person. Then she walked by our table and put the bill down without saying anything or making eye contact with anyone. I gave her my credit card and when she returned she said "thanks" and again didn't look at anybody at the table. I went back to Mosaic today for the first time outside of a Yelp event we did here. The event was wonderful, but today left me really disappointed. The place itself is really cute and has a great ambiance- they decorated for the holidays and even had Santa greeting tables! I ordered the Santa Brunch scramble special, as did my fiancé's mother who I brought along. Mine was not good- it tasted like old potatoes, was really dry, and burnt. And my fiancé's mom's quite literally came with a fully raw, uncooked egg in it! She scooped it out onto another plate, and it was liquid and cold. We sent it back and they didn't charge us for it, but no one apologized or came to talk to us- if I'd served someone raw egg, I would definitely do another pass to make sure they enjoyed everything else. We had a nice anniversary dinner on 12/16/24. We ordered drinks and enjoyed the Gouda pimento cheese appetizer. The server said she'd bring us some plates but never returned. We ended up asking the bartender for plates which he was able to deliver immediately. Actually the bartender was great--he took our drink AND food orders. It was busy but I don't think the restaurant was adequately staffed. He was really hopping but kept his cool and was really pleasant. I ordered the stuffed salmon and my husband ordered a Crabcake sandwich. Both were tasty. Too full for dessert. As for ambiance, it was nicely decorated for Christmas--festive and seasonal. But it was pretty noisy until a big table of about 12+ behind us left. I'd go again and hope the service level was a bit better. 3.5 stars would be for my recent visit. read more
