The host was kind enough to still seat me at a table good for 3 while I wait for my friends even though they actually had quite a full house. So I really appreciated that. Our waiter was also actually quite patient (there was a bit of a wait until my friends got there; I'm sorry!). They had a dj the morning I was there, and I really liked the vibe. Their menu have more than enough options for brunch and drinks. I hope they extend their menu for more lunch items than brunch/breakfast items though! Once everyone was there, we finally ordered! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with the side of Lulu's house potatoes and a pomegranate mule. The pomegranate mule was quite strong, and I enjoyed it so much I ordered another one. LOL. To start the food here was relatively good. The Chicken & Biscuit was quite tasty itself - the eggs were cooked well tastes great- the potatoes... The potatoes are a no everyone agreed the potatoes are too seasoned had this unnecessary spice to them and lacks flavor at the same time - we were not fan, another table recommended we not get the potatoes or ask for them to be a more crispy to disguise the spice. Even took it home and crisped it more, long story short the potatoes are not going to be that lightly salted flavor you'd expect, just over seasoned. The sausage gravy tasted great. The biscuit is absolute perfection! (10 out of 10 for Biscuit and Chicken) (3 out of 10 for potatoes) (9 out of 10 for eggs) Unfortunately as far as the Red Velvet waffles they are most likely waffles with red food coloring - tasted nothing like red velvet. (4 out of 10 for the waffles) The French Toast was okay- the strawberry puree was delicious. (3 out of 10 for French toast) The music in here is a vibe loved the selection - kept my group grooving. Not sure if they are always packed but there was a festival going on outside. They squeezed 7 of us at a 6 top booth. It was tight but worked. Also this location is not very spacious keep that in mind. Our server started off pretty good until the end. She was very loud- louder than the music. No discretion- announced the details of a remaining balance of someone in our group , loudly. Yummy! Every single bite was delicious. We had 4 different meals to accommodate our party of 5, including two small kids. We really enjoyed the fluffy and large sized biscuits, cheese grits, and French toast. The gravy smothering the biscuits was wonderfully made, it added warmth to the meal. My eggs were also cooked to over easy perfection. Home fries were in abundance and rounded out each plate. The Cheese grits.... Chef's kiss. I have never been to a restaurant and not need to fix the grits. These were not overly cheesy or salty, just right. The fried chicken on the biscuit and waffles were butterflied and juicy. I go to this restaurant if I'm looking for a weekend brunch with great vibes and music. It's usually pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation. I started with a tropical mimosa and they definitely know how to make it! I absolutely love the French toast. Their batter is unmatched and the portion size is great. We had a 1:00 PM reservation today for the main dining room at Lulu Restaurant. Upon arrival, we were directed to the café instead. When we spoke with the door greeter, Deja, she informed us that we would have to wait approximately 45 minutes to be seated in the main dining room. When we noticed another party leaving and asked if we could have that table, her demeanor was unprofessional, dismissive, and appeared to show little concern for our reservation. We understand that delays can happen, but we expected our reservation to be honored or the situation to be handled with professionalism and courtesy. The interaction left us feeling as though we were being penalized for not accepting the seating arrangement offered. Lulu's is a brunch favorite. I hadn't been in years, but it is still as good today, as it was back in the VCU undergrad years. The only difference now? We can drink Food/Drinks: I had the Crab Omelette, which came with potatoes. I added a side of the cheese grits. Everything was pretty good. The omelette was cooked well and full of crab. The potatoes were well seasoned and really delicious. I am really picky with grits and they were a hit for me. Definitely a nice savory, cheesy flavor. We got a Brazilian Mimosa Pit here and Green Tea Shots. All great. Service: Our waitress was awesome. She was really fun to interact with and checked in often. Overall Vibe: The restaurant was calm today, but it was a weekday. I could see the restaurant being busier on the weekends. The atmosphere was lively, but easy to converse in. Parking could easily bring things down. You would have to snag street parking, most likely. If you are not comfortable with a parallel park, maybe...rethink or carpool. This was our first time dining at Lulu's. We went for brunch on a Saturday. I made a reservation not knowing what the wait situation would be. They were very busy. The restaurant is pretty big and utilizes the space well. There is also seating outdoors which is nice with one of the areas being covered and optional heat lamps for the colder months. They have an extensive GLUTEN FREE menu! Overall, the food was amazing! I ordered the Chicken & Biscuit and my husband got the Huevos Rancheros. The portions of both dishes were humongous and the quality of the food was top notch. We also ordered a few drinks: Lulu's Famous Bloody Mary, Peach Mimosa, and an Irish Coffee. All of the drinks were made well, but were pretty weak (and I'm a very casual drinker). The Irish Coffee was probably the strongest out of the 3. The service was good. Lulu's is a bit hard to find, as it's in a mall area with no signage from the street. We actually asked two men we saw on the street where it was! It's also very popular -- so much so that we were told we'd have to wait 2 hours to sit inside! So, on a very cool Sunday morning, our party of 6 had to sit outside on the patio. There were heaters, but they weren't all that strong because of the wind. They have quite a variety on their menu, and if you don't want the meals they offer, it's very easy to put together something else (as my sister did). I had the red velvet waffle, which was really good. It came with fruit on it, and the sauces it came with (cream cheese with pecan, fruit jam, syrup, and butter) were just glorious. Unfortunately, Lulu's was underwhelming. I was really excited to try brunch here and had heard quite a few positive things about it, so I'm hopeful today was a one-off. To begin, the reservation was made for the café area, but we were seated in the main dining area. Not the end of the world but also not what was reserved. Then it took a waiter about 20 minutes to take our drink order or even greet us at all. Our food also took a bit longer than usual, but it was peak brunch hour so that wasn't a dealbreaker. However, the food itself was very meh. The "crab" omelette, which was supposed to be jumbo lump crab and goat cheese, was all goat cheese. There were exactly TWO pieces of what looked to be special crab meat, but certainly not jumbo lump. For the chicken and biscuit, the chicken was so overcooked you basically had to cut it like a steak. Ultimately, it was inedible. The sausage gravy was okay, but since it was already on the biscuit and not exactly smothered the biscuit was still pretty dry. I didn't even bother with the potatoes. A friend of mine and I try to meet up about every few months. We meet in the Richmond area. We always try to meet up at a new spot. This trip we tried Lulu's. Parking is easier than I personally made it. Ha! 2-3 hour parking is available on the street. There is also a public parking lot just a block away, within viewing distance from the front door. My 4 hours parking in the lot was just over $10. I booked a reservation online with no issue about a week out. We opted for outdoors since it was going to be gorgeous. We were seated immediately on their second patio which is a little smaller with about 4 tables. It was perfect, and quiet. Good area for catching up. Our waiter was great. He had tables both inside and outside and managed them well. I never wondered where he was or needed to wait to ask for something. Now the food. It lives up to the popularity. I opted for the chicken biscuit. It had great flavors throughout. The grits were perfect! The red velvet waffle strawberry shortcake waffle was very filling and heavy. My friend's apple bread pudding was the best of the two! All our food was cooked perfectly. Our favorite savory meal was the Crab Omelette. We were staying around the corner and this was our first stop on a Saturday morning. We had already had breakfast so we were just looking for a drink - it looked busy with a wait but there were two spots at the bar so we snagged them. Service was quick since we were right there and didn't order food but WOAH it was hard not to. If we had even a tiny bit of hunger we probably wouldn't have been able to sit there without getting something, the food looked and smelled phenomenal. If we were staying longer, we would have absolutely come back for a meal. The drink options were great, they had a lot of classics but definitely some unique items to choose from. Our bartender was also super helpful and informative for the area since we had never been to Richmond. The food at LuLu's, Absolutely amazing. I had the chicken and red velvet waffle breakfast, and it was perfection. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and Lulu's, velvet waffle had just the right amount of sweetness and it paired really well with the potatoes and onions. Honestly, I couldn't have been happier with the meal itself. But the service and setup? That's where the ball was dropped. It was December, and they only had outdoor seating available for the times my friends and I wanted to eat. There was only one heat lamp for per tablee, and when we asked if they could add another, they said they couldn't. So we were left sitting in the cold because one lamp just wasn't enough to keep us warm. On top of that, the wind was blowing napkins off the table, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. The waiter also didn't come outside very often, probably because of how cold it was. But if it's too cold for the staff, it's definitely too cold for the guests. Adding something like a plastic tent to block the wind and keep the heat in could have made the whole experience so much better. It just felt like they weren't equipped to handle outdoor dining during the winter. So overall, Lulu's gets 3 stars from me. The food was incredible, but the service and setup need serious improvement if they're going to keep offering outdoor seating in the colder months. Got a recommendation from a close friend so after a business mtg I decided brunch was the way to go. You heard it here first: If you go there and don't get the French toast you misunderstood the assignment! I had to start there because it was that good. Soft fluffy, thiccccc lol, with fresh strawberries, house made strawberry jam, some sort of maple butter situation AND maple syrup! And yes I used all of them! Side of bacon and a mimosa and I was a happy man. The area is nice, walkable which is good because it looks like parking can be tricky depending on what time you go. The ambiance is casual, lively and social. I sat at the bar because I was solo and not planing on sticking around long and the Bartender was working her tail off! Visiting family in Richmond and went to Lulu's for brunch. This was my first visit but will not be my last. We were serviced by a great young man named Josh who was truly a delightful person. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and very kind to all of us. Great time with him. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Atlantic omelet over a biscuit with hollandaise sauce. It was fabulous. The atmosphere was great. Even on a hot summer day in July, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the environment with a cool breeze. Overall the experience was amazing and we will definitely go back as much as we can. The only reason they get four stars and not five is that they ran out of the fish and grits. There were so many great options for people who were vegan or vegetarian those who are pescatarian those who were meat eaters. It was so much to choose from. I visited Lulu's while in Richmond on a business trip. When I entered I was asked if I had a reservation; I didn't. I wasn't too sure how I felt about being asked that question because it was empty inside. Me and my party were seated immediately. We picked up a few items, so I'll share their photos & names! Overall, the food was quite tasty. Two of the dishes we ordered came with poached eggs, but we requested scrambled eggs instead. The waitress initially forgot, but she was really understanding and quickly put in the order again with the correct note. I decided to try something new with my drink and ordered a Bloody Mary for the first time. It was good, but I don't think I'd order it again. The waitress noticed I hardly touched it and kindly took it off the bill, which I thought was really thoughtful. It also showed how attentive she was, which was a nice surprise!
