Our waiter was the best! Super kind d and patient. Explained option and food delivery! Checked on us on a regular, but not too much... Great atmosphere, music was on point!!! Glad we made a mid-week stop for breakfast!!! Thanks

I go to this restaurant if I'm looking for a weekend brunch with great vibes and music. It's usually pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation. I started with a tropical mimosa and they definitely know how to make it! I absolutely love the French toast. Their batter is unmatched and the portion size is great. I love the fruit, butter, and other toppings that come in the side as well. This time I got a chicken to go with it for extra protein. Lulu's is a brunch staple and I'll definitely be back!

Got a recommendation from a close friend so after a business mtg I decided brunch was the way to go. You heard it here first: If you go there and don't get the French toast you misunderstood the assignment! I had to start there because it was that good. Soft fluffy, thiccccc lol, with fresh strawberries, house made strawberry jam, some sort of maple butter situation AND maple syrup! And yes I used all of them! Side of bacon and a mimosa and I was a happy man. The area is nice, walkable which is good because it looks like parking can be tricky depending on what time you go. The ambiance is casual, lively and social. I sat at the bar because I was solo and not planing on sticking around long and the Bartender was working her tail off! Serving drinks, taking food and drink orders, checking back on me and others to see what we needed, she was doing it all! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Both omelets were phenomenal! Service was great. Felt welcomed and the food and drinks came quickly.

Lulu's is a bit hard to find, as it's in a mall area with no signage from the street. We actually asked two men we saw on the street where it was! It's also very popular -- so much so that we were told we'd have to wait 2 hours to sit inside! So, on a very cool Sunday morning, our party of 6 had to sit outside on the patio. There were heaters, but they weren't all that strong because of the wind. They have quite a variety on their menu, and if you don't want the meals they offer, it's very easy to put together something else (as my sister did). I had the red velvet waffle, which was really good. It came with fruit on it, and the sauces it came with (cream cheese with pecan, fruit jam, syrup, and butter) were just glorious. Others in my party also enjoyed what they ordered -- especially the spiked coffee drinks! Lulu's is definitely a place to check out!

Unfortunately, Lulu's was underwhelming. I was really excited to try brunch here and had heard quite a few positive things about it, so I'm hopeful today was a one-off. To begin, the reservation was made for the café area, but we were seated in the main dining area. Not the end of the world but also not what was reserved. Then it took a waiter about 20 minutes to take our drink order or even greet us at all. Our food also took a bit longer than usual, but it was peak brunch hour so that wasn't a dealbreaker. However, the food itself was very meh. The "crab" omelette, which was supposed to be jumbo lump crab and goat cheese, was all goat cheese. There were exactly TWO pieces of what looked to be special crab meat, but certainly not jumbo lump. For the chicken and biscuit, the chicken was so overcooked you basically had to cut it like a steak. Ultimately, it was inedible. The sausage gravy was okay, but since it was already on the biscuit and not exactly smothered the biscuit was still pretty dry. I didn't even bother with the potatoes. I'm willing to give it one more try before I write them off completely.

A friend of mine and I try to meet up about every few months. We meet in the Richmond area. We always try to meet up at a new spot. This trip we tried Lulu's. Parking is easier than I personally made it. Ha! 2-3 hour parking is available on the street. There is also a public parking lot just a block away, within viewing distance from the front door. My 4 hours parking in the lot was just over $10. I booked a reservation online with no issue about a week out. We opted for outdoors since it was going to be gorgeous. We were seated immediately on their second patio which is a little smaller with about 4 tables. It was perfect, and quiet. Good area for catching up. Our waiter was great. He had tables both inside and outside and managed them well. I never wondered where he was or needed to wait to ask for something. Now the food. It lives up to the popularity. I opted for the chicken biscuit. It had great flavors throughout. The grits were perfect! The red velvet waffle strawberry shortcake waffle was very filling and heavy. My friend's apple bread pudding was the best of the two! All our food was cooked perfectly. Our favorite savory meal was the Crab Omelette. I've never had one before, but will consider ordering one in the future. Overall our visit was good.

Fried chicken and red velvet waffle

Wow. They had me at Fried chicken and red velvet waffle. Stupendous. The gravy had just a bit of heat, chicken had perfect crunchy coating, waffle was moist and yummy. And the hash browns, oh, the hash browns. So much flavor. (It came with scrambled eggs, but that was too much food for me and so I shared.) Everyone was happy with their choices, service was excellent, and I loved the vibe.

Chicken and red velvet waffle breakfast.

The food at LuLu's, Absolutely amazing. I had the chicken and red velvet waffle breakfast, and it was perfection. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and Lulu's, velvet waffle had just the right amount of sweetness and it paired really well with the potatoes and onions. Honestly, I couldn't have been happier with the meal itself. But the service and setup? That's where the ball was dropped. It was December, and they only had outdoor seating available for the times my friends and I wanted to eat. There was only one heat lamp for per tablee, and when we asked if they could add another, they said they couldn't. So we were left sitting in the cold because one lamp just wasn't enough to keep us warm. On top of that, the wind was blowing napkins off the table, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. The waiter also didn't come outside very often, probably because of how cold it was. But if it's too cold for the staff, it's definitely too cold for the guests. Adding something like a plastic tent to block the wind and keep the heat in could have made the whole experience so much better. It just felt like they weren't equipped to handle outdoor dining during the winter. So overall, Lulu's gets 3 stars from me. The food was incredible, but the service and setup need serious improvement if they're going to keep offering outdoor seating in the colder months. I'd definitely be back to dine inside or when the weather is warmer the next time I'm in Richmond.

Omg..so much food! I made my own breakfast with a bisuit, fried chicken, pimento grits and a side of pimento cheese with a blood orange moonshine mimosa. Took most of the food to go and had breakfast for 3 days. Super nice staff too

We agreed with such a warm smile when a group of us decided that we wanted to grab brunch at this place. We heard about called Lulu's. The decor was so nice and I love the steam punk vibe of the environment. We decided that we were all hungry but wanted to try different things so we ordered a little bit of everything for brunch. There were so many great options for people who were vegan or vegetarian those who are pescatarian those who were meat eaters. It was so much to choose from. The things that I enjoyed the most were the delicious grits as well as this pecan cream cheese that was so flavorful and nice. If you're in the area or have people visiting from out of town, I think that Lulu's would be a great place to bring friends and family.

Brunch?! Yes please! This place does brunch so well! Definitely a must try! The waffles were so crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside! The chicken was juicy and flakey, great combo of sweet and salty. Eggs were fine but the star was the waffle, red velvet flavor and paired with a sweet cream to drizzle over! We ate out in the patio and enjoyed the crisp fresh morning air. Service was standard, nothing too outstanding.

Brazilian Mimosa

I visited Lulu's while in Richmond on a business trip. When I entered I was asked if I had a reservation; I didn't. I wasn't too sure how I felt about being asked that question because it was empty inside. Me and my party were seated immediately. Our waitress made up for overall service because she was very friendly and attentive! She turned the vibe up a notch and made the visit memorable. The restaurant was small but it had charm. The food was ok. I was not overly impressed but it was solid in the taste department. The drinks were really good! I had the Brazilian mimosa. If you want a solid restaurant experience make your way down to Lulu's.

On both occasions I ate in the upstairs dining area & I really enjoyed being able to look out their windows & observe the hustle & bustles of Broad Street while dining. The music that played in the background while we dined was the perfect aural companion to a down home Southern cuisine centered meal. As you know, I love when the music in the restaurant compliments the cuisine & Lillie Pearl's playlist is top notch. During our dining time, we ordered their Smoked Wings as our appetizer. The wings were perfectly seasoned & visually appealing. However, I found them to be a bit dry & overcooked for my taste. My dining companion, however, had no problem with the wings texture. She enjoyed them very much. For my main meal, I ordered their Wild Game Burger[a mixture of Waygu Beef, Bison & Wild Boar] with a side order of Fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was well seasoned & juicy. The fries were delicious. They were crispy and also perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the fries alone. I ordered a cocktail to complement my meal, the Sweetest Thing. It was bright, crisp & a perfect drink for my food. As for Customer Service, Our server was courteous & attentive & knowledgeable about any menu changes we needed to be aware of. Also of note for me was that I had a reservation I needed to change to an earlier time slot & the staff was able to accommodate my request expediently. I also appreciated the fact that they informed me in advance that they were still on the Lunch menu & not dinner as my initial reservations had requested. I find that type of honesty & transparency refreshing & is definitely one of the reasons I will ALWAYS be a loyal Lillie Pearl customer.

On to the meat and potatoes: Got seated quickly (had a res). Server (Caleb) was attentive, but not overbearing which was nice. Helped me out with ordering the brussel sprouts, suggesting them as a side instead of the appetizer (since it was just me) which was cool. Food: Phenomenal. Ordered the braised short ribs with a side of fried brussel sprouts. Short ribs were meaty, super tender, flavorful and plentiful. Served over mashed potatoes. With a (large) side of really good collard greens. The brussel sprouts were different from any other brussel sprout I've ever had. Very much had a "kung pao chicken" vibe to them (that's what Caleb called it, and he was right). Really really good. Only downmark is on the banana pudding. It was "good" don't get me wrong.....but it was super sweet and didn't have any real bananas or Nilla wafers in it. I would have been happy if the serving was 1/2 the size it was (because it was so sweet, couldn't eat the whole thing). Just came off as overly commercial. All in all a great meal, and a great start to a Saturday evening.

The service was a little too leisurely for my temperament, and the tab did arrive at the table on one piece of paper when we had clearly requested that there be a separate tab for each couple, but those would be my only complaints. We all had cocktails, one from their specialty list and three that were standard issue. All were delicious and had an appropriate alcohol content for cocktails. The restaurant week menu provided a good variety of choices. Everything we had was really delicious. Portions were generous, so I could not eat more than about half of each course and not get overly full, but I assume they are sized for all but the hungriest diner. The venue's sound level was pretty high. I could have left my hearing aids at home so I wouldn't hear as much of the background noise. Noisy restaurants are pretty standard, I guess. We will definitely be returning to Alewife. It will probably take the place of Grisette in the rotation, which has been dropped because of institution of a fee for reservations canceled less than 24 hours in advance. I don't think it should be treated as a privilege to dine somewhere. The Hemingway quote at the bottom of the tab was a little weird. To drink we had the Bebot and the Monkey Business to start, both were really good. The thing we knew we needed to have to eat was the Siren's Song special which was a lazy Susan full of different dishes. The Siren's Song consisted of oysters, fried clam strips, smoked fish dip, seared tuna, pineapple fried rice, and a fried fish collar (sorry don't remember the fish, maybe Skate) with a Szechuan dry rub on it. This seriously was an amazing display. Every single dish just took it up a notch. They were also super nice to accommodate making it pescatarian because the Siren's Song usually has meat elements. The fried collar really blew me away. So meaty, fried perfectly, and the dry rub was so flavorful but not too salty or hot. Despite finishing the whole Siren's Song, we also got the Cascatelli without guanciale which was also delicious. We finished off with their caramel custard which wasn't too sweet and had a great mix of textures and flavors. Also tried one of their NA drinks and a glass of their special chilled Grenache Noir which was surprisingly good (not a big red wine fan). Overall, we absolutely loved it here. Each dish was amazing, drinks were also good, service was on point, and it was just a beautiful dinner. We will definitely be coming back.
