Started off with the crab hush puppies, with a line lime mayo sauce! The flavors were amazingly paired together, they were like mini crab cakes and very filling for appetizer. Main course, my boyfriend got the shrimp and grits which the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly! It was cheesy and rich and a great flavor. I got the braised beef short ribs which were flavorful, juicy, with mashed potatoes and carrots and mushrooms. It was super good and comforting and filling. We got the butter butter cake, which was amazing! We shared it, as it was plenty. It melted in your mouth and had a scoop of gelato. Presentation on everything was beautiful. Everything we had was amazing, service was fast and friendly and they were on top of everything. We had to pay 12$ for parking and walk, but I think the hotel has something set up. After having a bad experience at another restaurant, Jacob & Hanen really made our night with amazing customer service, great recommendations, exceptional knowledge of the chef and the restaurant's menu, and held great conversations! Moody lighting and lamps for each table sets the tone for intimate and private-type dining. The host & manager were friendly. We got inconsistent service from our server. Not sure she wanted to be there considering it was a holiday, or if she had stuff going on personally. Regardless, she did her best. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our food. I was skeptical about the cornbread because it had zucchini in it but I must say that it was really good especially with the honey butter that topped it. I was torn between the miso halibut and truffle bucatini. The bartender recommended the halibut and it was a really good recommendation. The miso complimented the halibut very nicely and the vegetables, specifically the cauliflower, were tasty. Overall the food was delicious but the service was just mediocre. They weren't rude or bad. We arrived around 8pm and parked on 6th and Broad with two open spots out front. We walked in through the Marriott front entrance and were greeted by a kind and enthusiastic host who seated us promptly. We had our pick of high-tops or traditional seating and chose a booth (the superior choice IMO). The ambiance and atmosphere felt modern and classic with a touch of ostentatious flair (the bird mural and columns up front were gorgeous). I prefer a curated menu and Fall Line keeps it simple. There are options for most people here. We ordered the skillet cornbread to start. C'est magnifique. We ordered from the sharables menu: the barrata, grilled cauliflower, and burnt ends. The barrata was the clear winner, followed by the cornbread. The burnt ends tasted fantastic, yet were too fatty to enjoy fully. Some constructive feedback: The cauliflower was a major disappointment; it needed additional time on the grill and more sauce to boot. I felt the barrata should have included one extra pair of crustinis. The apricot mostarda was divine, though. They don't carry a sour beer, so my partner and I did not partake. All in all, Fall Line Kitchen was a lovely experience, and our server Satya was a pleasure as well. As we exited, the kind host offered to take our picture in front of the light-wrapped columns. What a gentleman. I've been to Fall Line twice. Once on Thanksgiving 2022 and also earlier this week with a couple of friends. My friend booked a regular reservation not realizing that the Fall Line Express, their holiday pop-up, had its own reservation link. We asked if we could move into it, and they said no, even as I was looking at Open Table and saw a reservation slot open that I could book for 20 minutes later. Our server told us that it wasn't accurate and to disregard it. Later on we popped inside to peek and it was half empty, so I feel like ultimately she just didn't want to move us. Regardless, the food we had was pretty tasty, on par with somewhere like Burton's, I'd say. My friends had short rib and harvest salad, and they both seemed to enjoy them. The short rib I heard was very heavy on mushrooms. I ordered the burnt ends app with a side of fries. Both were good. We also had some drinks - I chose the cokee cokee, a Puerto Rican eggnog, which was just okay. They were out of the chocolate cocktail when we tried to order that, so we opted to go on elsewhere for another round. For both visits, this week and 2022, I made sure to order their gooey butter cake. It is so stupidly good -- hands down the best thing on their menu. Don't make a trip to Fall Line without ordering that. I'd honestly go back just for that dessert and a glass of wine sometime. To be clear, their holiday pop-up IS the bar area and mostly closed off from view in the regular dining room, so you'll definitely need to book it to get a seat. It was much more festive looking, as the dining room was pretty dark with a lone Christmas tree. Once we popped into the pop-up, a kind server offered to take our picture with the backdrop and ensured we had the best lighting -- above and beyond! They also had a cute little self-service photo booth area that we took advantage of. Also of note, the restrooms are pretty far away from the restaurant, past hotel check in and the escalator, tucked away. This wasn't a cheap visit, and it probably won't be first in line for a return visit for me, but I enjoyed myself enough for a Monday evening during the holidays. The Fall Line is a bar and restaurant located in the Marriott Richmond. I've dined here for breakfast, dinner and had drinks at the bar area. Service is pleasantly attentive and very friendly here, both at the bar, within the restaurant and from the host. It's a cozy atmosphere and prices are surprising reasonable for a hotel restaurant. The avocado toast was deliciously prepared. Nicely seasoned, not garlicky, crunchy today. Really good spread of avocado. I got some perfect over easy eggs with it too. The mixed berries was a small portion, but they were fresh. Coffee is good here - seemed better than the Starbucks nearby. My server was super attentive and it was overall a great breakfast experience. At the bar and lounge, drinks were poured with heavy hands and didn't disappoint! Plenty of bourbons to try here! The problem came in that we booked the reservation through OpenTable and when booking it said that we could apply the $16 coupon that we had earned through OpenTable. When we went to check out, we mentioned the coupon and were told we couldn't use it. The manager was called over and I explained that when I booked the reservation, their restaurant had the option to apply rewards through OpenTable. He said that he can't control what OpenTable does and that it wasn't his fault that he couldn't apply the coupon. I asked him if he could try because the coupon basically came in the form of a credit card. He took my phone and supposedly entered in the information in his system and said it came back declined. I have a feeling that he didn't read the instructions which indicated a very specific ZIP Code that need to be used for the credit card transaction. I was disappointed in the lack of accountability that the manager took for the incident. I explained that there were other restaurants in the area that did not accept coupons so I knew that it was an option that they could opt out of this program. I let him know that it would be in his best interest to update the system so that it would prevent issues like this in the future. He just said yes, ma'am. He made no effort to resolve for remedy the situation or the inconvenience that it caused. I mentioned that he could've at least offered to comp our dessert or offer a discount in which he said yes ma'am, and then walked away. I was very disappointed in how this was handled and the lack of accountability. I've reported the incident to OpenTable so that hopefully I can get the $16 reward put back onto my account to use at another restaurant. The website for the restaurant also says to use the valet service to park. We got in line for the valet service, and then was told by the valet that we needed to park in the parking deck, which is fine, but it did make us late for our reservation. read more

We visit the bar to experience their Newly pop-up bar attached to the Marriott hotel in Richmond VA this is a perfect attraction for those that are visiting Richmond for the holidays and want to experience the Polar express with a dine in experience featuring a photo booth area to take photos with photo props and this pop-up bar is a good spot for all my Polar express fans as well as anybody that loves to go to any Christmas theme bar. This was honestly one of my favorite that I've been to so far and honestly very quiet very elevated in a way where you get everything you want and experience wise we did go on a slower day, which was on Mondays, but they did say that other days are busier depending on the day that you go. reservations are all available on OpenTable from all of November up until January 4th just choose the fall line experience on the app and it'll prompt you a $20 deposit is required to make a reservations prior to the day you choose, and this deposit will be applied to your total bill and the maximum party that can attend is a party of four people. They also have a valet voucher for anybody that parts in the garage that's attached to the hotel where they will cover the cost for you so this was an extra bonus to the experience of us traveling far out and made the trip even more delightful. Walking in the staff was very nice and friendly and informative in regards of the layout and what we would expect as well as when we got seated we were greeted with golden tickets like the polar express and our server was very in theme of the pop-up bar and very helpful of guide us through the night. And he explained to us in regards of their menu, and how each drink that we chose from the menu the bar cart will be part of the experience, which I thought that was a very fun way to bring the highlight of the theme where she did come with a cart where she prepared our drinks and actually explained to us each part of the drink where it made from and the drink I choose was mistletoe mule there was one ingredient that the manager handcrafted just for this menu item and it had a light smooth taste and it pair well with the burger that honestly a really good burger and classic with fries of course. They do allow you to get food off the dinner menu as well if you want to eat dinner it's not limit or separate just the fall line express menu is separate and it's only served during dinner the hours for the experience is fri-sat 5-11pm and Sun-Thurs 5-10pm. We also had a good time at there photo area where they had a cute setup that included props and hats to add the fun in the photos. And of course the tickets were extra keepsake to take home to remember a good trip. And they also offer you a greeting card that you can put in a letter box to be sent out to your loved one which brings the Christmas spirit alive. I would recommend this place if you want to experience a pop up bar that's brings classic movies to light and showcase the experience from start to finish. The valet out front was superior in terms of professional and polite. The service was immaculate. Wanton for nothing but never over bearing. We did the oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters which were cold water fabulous, an Indian spiced baked cauliflower but most of the rating on this review is about the entree. They did a pork chop with the pork belly attached and it was fabulous. The spices. The sauce beneath was a perfect compliment but the flavor of the meat with the belly was absolutely fabulous. Hip and modern, but with an intimate classic style. The lighting and music levels were excellent. Moreover, the service we received from Gabrielle was impeccable. Her menu knowledge was excellent and she had an amiable but professional demeanor that made the night very pleasant. The food was mostly excellent, my halibut was exceptional. My wife's pasta could've been a bit more interesting, it was a little basic, and the dessert was a bit too much on the sweet side and needed a little more balance. We ate here on Valentine's Day as we were staying in the hotel. Kelsey was our server and she was amazing. The food was delicious and even though the restaurant was PACKED, everything was efficient and timely. We decided to eat there the next night. That was our mistake. With a different server (not Kelsey), we were there for 2hrs and 10mins. It took about 25-30mins to get our drinks and over an hour to get our food (pasta and a burger...not a difficult meal.) Our drinks were absolutely left at the bar for those 25mins. They were so watered down. The espresso martini didn't even have foam on it anymore and we could see through the liquid. We then ordered an aperol spritz and could see the color difference between the ones that had sat out. Our drinks should have been comped right there and then. Our server was friendly but, very slow. The food then continued to take over an hour. People who were sat with a different server AFTER we placed our drink orders, had their drinks, food, and were leaving, before we even got our meal. Absolutely crazy. Clearly some of these servers need better training before they're on their own. I'd suggest Kelsey. After tonight, this place deserves one star but it gets the 2nd because Kelsey was great. We have one more day here and we will only be returning if we see her. read more

I was welcomed by Ivy, who complimented my locs and had me all smiles and giggles, and immediately seated me on a Thursday evening. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. My waitress Jess was so polite and friendly. I ordered the iron skillet cornbread, French onion soup, burnt ends, and braised short rib. Everything was PIPING hot and sooo good. I didn't care for the cornbread because I'm not crazy about zucchini but as I continued eating it, I enjoyed the flavor. The burnt ends were not really burnt at all but tender like a BBQ rib. The pickled onions set it off nicely! The French onion soup with gooey cheese was absolutely delicious. Not too salty, the onions were soft. I actually burnt my tongue eating too fast. The star of the show was the braised short rib. While it did take a while to get to my table, I wasn't complaining because everything else kept me occupied. The general manager delivered it to me and expressed how the chef was taking his time with it. Presentation was AMAZING! Tender, flavorful, juicy...ughhh, it was so good. So I really do try to be gracious with restaurants but I was incredibly disappointed in this experience. I made a reservation and was put in the corner right next to the host stand. My soup came out before my glass of wine. The French onion soup was basically bread and cheese and had the color of chicken noodle soup. The braised short rib was ok. Although the carrots were still very crunchy. I felt very rushed and was never asked for another glass of wine. My parter got his beer served in a warm glass, the server who dropped it off absolutely had no idea how to serve the beer table side in the glass and walked away with what I can only assume was half the beer since the glass was half foam. I guess it was my fault for dressing up thinking this was a " better" restaurant with the prices. Overall just disappointing. read more
