Small location but the menu packs a punch! I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical about a place called The Fancy Biscuit-how much could they truly have to offer? I was pleasantly surprised. First, the service was great. We were immediately sat with no hesitation. Our waitress was nice and the food was prompt. They have such a variety of food, coffee, non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages-there's something for everyone. My food was great-it definitely is a fork and knife sandwich, but the bacon was thick, the chicken was well seasoned, and the white gravy was a nice compliment. It isn't something that I would have gotten, but I'm glad I did.

If you like biscuits, then you'll love this place. Seriously, my husband craves this place, haha. We had The Fan (scrumptious gravy) and Got Your Goat (sweet balanced with goat cheesy ) and they did not disappoint! The fried chicken is so tender and the flavors of both were incredible. Also had the hot chocolate (Ghirardelli mix - very good) and the chai latte. We were very satisfied. Love the art and the vibe of the place! Service is great. Will definitely go back when we're in Richmond.

The fancy biscuit is great for breakfast. The atmosphere was inviting. Although it's small, my group of five was seated immediately. The artwork was really cool and they have mugs available for purchase. I ordered the veggie curry. It was spicy but not overpowering. I would've enjoyed a little more garlic flavor. The biscuit was delicious. I enjoyed my toffee iced coffee. Next time I will ask for light ice. Service was good and food came quickly.

Such a cute little space! The food was fresh & the staff was so friendly. The restaurant was packed, and yet everyone's food was still coming out fairly quick which i appreciated. The espresso was amazing! I got the sweet heat sandwich and i will say it was a bit more sweet than heat but still was soo tasty!

Enjoyed a late breakfast with fabulous food and very nice service! We had the following food items; My husband had the chicken breakfast sandwich smothered in sausage gravy and he loved it and thought it was good. He also enjoyed his coffee with a shot of espresso. I had the chicken sandwich with the apple slaw, apple butter and blue cheese, all deconstructed and loved all the pieces of it. The chicken was cooked extremely well and the biscuit was really good, as well as all the other parts of the sandwich The slaw was nice and crunchy and even had a little spice to it! Also tried the sweet potatoes with bacon and it was alright! Our server was super kind and accommodating and honored all of our special requests! It's not too large inside but it is nice and airy inside.

A delicious, savory, and spicy biscuit and a coffee.

We arrived an hour before close, and the experience did not diminish. The staff was attentive and friendly and provided quick service, considering the crowd and staff scheduled. The ambiance and decor were clean and modern but had a homey feel. The food was delicious. I have no complaints whatsoever.

Great find coming from out of town. Their biscuits are amazing and decor is very comfortable. It seems like one of those places where everybody knows your name, and they... you get the point. Great service, they even had nice outdoor seating. I have to go back and try more.

Delicious and solid portions - this place is worth coming to! They have a lot of biscuit plates (and non-biscuit plates for those interested). We got the Fan, crab cake Benedict, and a side of peach jam. The portions were so generous that we reconsidered getting a plate for each of us. Service time was as expected being that all tables were full, but we were tended to immediately upon each request. We will be back, and we look forward to trying something else on the menu.

Sweet heat: fried chicken with housemade pickled onions, hot honey and pepper jelly served on buttermilk biscuit

Excellent combos Make many appearances. This place does it right. Fried green tomatoes, Pimento cheese with spicy sriracha swirl. Many biscuits with Bold fixings to try. Leave: belly full and smiling Share? Maybe Additional notes: Herb garden in the parking lot, superbly friendly staff and the perfect spot to cool off with air-conditioning when you need to escape the heat.

    Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken Pot Pie: the sauce was smooth with chunks of chicken and vegetables, the biscuit was buttery and soft - I'm not a big biscuit person but this one was great Service: wasn't great, we had to ask for cutlery three times and at that point the food was starting to get cold, our server brought the checks mid meal which was off putting and then asked us for our cards while we were still eating

Got the sweet heat biscuit which included fried chicken, pickled onions, hot honey and pepper jelly on a buttermilk biscuit. The biscuit was large and filling and the chicken was moist and cooked well with crisp breading. The pepper jelly was a bit too sweet since there was also hot honey but I overall appreciated the salty-sweet combo. The biscuit itself was delicious and buttery. The inside of the restaurant felt bright and airy. Our server was very friendly and prompt and our food was prepared quickly. Definitely will have to return to try other biscuits on their menu!

We only ordered the biscuit and 3 gravy flight. Biscuit was very good, but nothing stood out. Think and dense. The sausage gravy was good, with good church's of sausage, again, nothing really stood out but was very good. The coffee gravy.... Guess I shouldn't be surprised it tasted slightly bitter coffee. lol. Did not like that. The third gravy also solid good very mild flavor.

I was in Vegas at the very beginning of the month and had the TV in my room on Food Network, diners, drive-ins, and dives was on and it was talking about a place in Richmond so I perked up as I was going to be there for the weekend of January 16 through the 19th. I googled the fancy biscuit and it was only a couple of miles from where we were staying in downtown and they were open on Saturday and Sundays, but not Mondays. My mom and I decided to go on Saturday morning around 11 AM. We got lucky as there was no line and we found street parking out front pretty easily. As it is winter time, their patio was not open. Since they are famous for their biscuits, we both opted to get biscuit sandwiches. My mom got one with fried chicken, bacon cheddar cheese, & sausage, gravy; she enjoyed it. I got the fried chicken, goat cheese and pepper jelly; it was tasty, but I thought it would be spicier. We shared the grit tots which are made fresh in house and served with a Sriracha aioli. Everything we had was amazing. The service was fantastic as well. If they had been open on Monday we would have gone back. If you are in Richmond, they are definitely worthy of a visit. Enjoy!

From the host to the server, we really enjoyed everyone! The restaurant itself was cute! It was small and quant but we are used to that living in the city in DC and some of the best restaurants are like that! Now the drinks and food!! For the drinks we had the rosemary martini and espresso martini. The rosemary was one of my favs!! So light and delicious! The espresso was lacking and I'm an espresso martini snob! It was just so watery and was lacking flavor from the espresso! We ordered two kids pizza and a few apps. The fried green tomato's, spinach/crab dip and fried oysters which was a special! The pizza was delicious but the menu doesn't state that they sprinkle Parmesan on top. Both my kids have an allergy so they had to remake it. Once they remade it with no parm it was DELICIOUS! Def get their pizza! The biggest issue was the fried foods. The crab/spinach dip is a must try! It was good!!! But the fried green tomatoes and oysters were not good bc we can tell they haven't changed their grease in ages. They came out super dark and tasted burnt due to the grease it was cooked in. I worked in a restaurant for ages and can tell! If they had fresh grease it would have made a ton of difference! I'd love to come back and try it again but only if they have improved how they cook their fried food! If you're just looking for pizza and cocktails, this is a good recommendation!

The cucumber sandwiches were on brown bread??? The chicken salad sandwiches were bland and boring and were served on regular thick white bread. The desserts also lacked sparkle. The best were the tiny chocolate mousse tart, and the tiny rectangular fruit tart. The macrons were delicious and probably the best thing about the tea. However, the rectangular fruit tart did not have an expected glaze of apricot jam as is traditional. There were two cakes. One was chocolate, which was very fudgy and moist however, it really could have used a pinch of salt to bring its profile up to delicious. The other cake was a slice of either apple or banana??? Flavor so faint I couldn't tell. Neither of those desserts had frosting so can they really be called cake? There was a sugar cookie but I gave it to My friend so I can't speak to how it was. There was this little chocolate thing that was difficult to ascertain what it was supposed to be. I think it was supposed to represent hot chocolate with peppermint and marshmallows, but despite the peppermint and the tiny marshmallows, it was lackluster. The entire experience could have improved with printed menus with descriptions of what we had. There were two teas offered, the Jefferson and the Richmond blend. I had the Richmond blend. It was so splendid that I ordered some from their supplier. Overall, I was terribly disappointed. The beautiful venue had a slight effect on improving the overall experience.
