French Toast Platter
Caitlin R.

Love this place so so much! I'm so sad that I only found it weeks before moving out of richmond. They are located inside of a building which was a bit confusing but not too hard to find since it's right at the corner once you walk in. The workers were super sweet and helpful, especially (I assume) the owner who recommended some items for my boyfriend and I since we're first timers. The inside was small but just enough and the customers all seemed to be regulars who adore this place as well! I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the french toast platter special. The two of those with an iced tea were only around $25!? The food came out relatively fast and to my surprise, HUGE. The chicken pesto sandwich was super juicy and flavorful! I was worried the ciabatta would be too hard to chew but bread was also very soft. The french toast platter also took me by surprise. The french toast platter came with 2 eggs, 2 choices of meat, and 2 french toasts. The eggs were a bit greasy in my opinion but the french toast was amazing. I've had many french toast and this was one of the best in RVA that i've had! It was super flavorful-- you could taste the cinnamon, vanilla, AND it wasn't soggy. So sad I found this place so late but will def be back if i'm ever in the area!

Fun little breakfast/ lunch spot tucked away in the lobby of an office building in downtown Richmond. The staff is super friendly, it's a family run operation. I loved everything in order. Biscuit was nice and flaky. French toast with apples was a Great combo

Just a consistently fantastic somewhat-hidden gem. Whenever we're in Richmond, we stop in for some breakfast sandwiches. Can't beat the food for the price and speed! Plus, the folks are always super friendly, which is hard to find in this day and age.

Kat's on the SE corner is chill, no nonsense and not going to hurt the wallet. Order at the counter and enjoy the low key atmosphere. Smiles and a walk through to ensure the folks are sated shows they care. 3 egg vegetable omelette (sauce it up with large hot sauce selection) add home fries and a drink + tip for less than $15. I'm full and I'll be back.

Came in this morning wanting a omelette. Ordered the meats omelette with a side of bacon. The service was friendly and quick. The food was hot and delicious. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town.

Breakfast potatoes and bacon, egg and cheese croissant

The customer service here is top notch. Genuinely impressed with how welcoming and kind these folks are- so much so, this is the only place I'll venture for breakfast while I'm working in Richmond from now on. I've only had the bacon, egg and cheese croissant and breakfast potatoes but they're by far the best I've had in a really long time. Extra points for how well kept the restaurant is. 10/10 across the board.

Cajun fries (so crispy) and the grilled cheese ($4!) with added ham ($1.25) on a croissant. Simple but *chefs kiss*.

I don't know how I've been missing out on this place! Simple breakfast and lunchtime options yet SO tasty and filling! Inexpensive, fast, hot meals and the staff make you feel at home. Takeout and sit down (cafeteria/tray style) service were both quick. Also, when I saw the wide array of hot sauces lined up, I knew this place was gonna be a fave of mine. I can't wait to come back!

Breakfast cristo sandwich with home fries

The breakfast sandwiches were really good. The home fries had a lot of flavor and yummy. The space is small but very welcoming. They are fast to get you your order! I was not a fan of the cheese grits but it may be just they way they are made here. Overall would come back!!

Breakfast Lunch Burger

My favorite place to eat when in Richmond! I recently had their Breakfast Lunch burger with piping hot fries and it was very delish. It hit the spot for sure! Service was fast and so friendly. I would recommend checking out this place if you haven't already!

I am soooo sad I missed years of delicious gluten free food! Gluten free sandwiches are prepared with GF bread using a separate toaster and appropriate safety procedures if you tell them it's an allergy or restriction. They also bring in GF pie and cake daily from a local bakery. Their food portions are generous while also being reasonably priced. They also offer the option of taking your meal in a borrowed picnic basket so you can have a picnic in the park across the street on nice days.

Grabbing a sandwich here for a relaxing picnic at the park in-front is one of my favorite things to do :) --------------------------------- Food: various warm and cold sandwiches, the haberdasher is my go-to - it's a smoked salmon sandwich with benedictine spread/tomatoes, the bread to smoked salmon ratio is so good, and it comes with a side (I like the coleslaw or salad); we've also tried the big daddy which is quite a big sandwich (can be 2 meals) Recommendations: they have a $35 date night special Affordability: less than $20/meal which is great in this economy Ambiance: charming corner cafe that transports you back in time Service: good, they do get very busy and often run out of picnic baskets Good for: casual lunch, local eats

The Stanley's Cheesesteak is the real deal -- shaved ribeye, Cooper Sharp white, onions, and pickled hot & sweet peppers all working together exactly how a proper cheesesteak should. The servers were also tending the bar which was getting decent traffic even at lunchtime. My dining partner says there is a pool table in a back room, and that could be fun to fold into a longer visit. The piped in music was light jazz. The menu is oriented around philly cheesesteaks and variations. I ordered the chicken philly, which was large enough to make two lunches (I brought half home.) The flavor was decent, with seasoned or marinated chicken chunks and veggies & cheese on a sturdy roll. It came with a decent serving of chips. We were served a juice glass of room temp water on arrival and no drink order was taken. Negatives were related to pacing. It took a lot of time for the food to come out. We were pushed to eat even half of our sandwiches within the hour my dining partner had for lunch. The server did not check back after dropping the plates, which could have been an issue if we needed more water. And getting the check was a challenge that took way too long considering how small the place is. This is a decent place to grab a sandwich or a drink if you have the time or live in the neighborhood.

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.
