I've always been a fan of Auntie Ning's but this was my first time in the market. I called in for pickup and my order was ready when I got there 10mins later. All the sweets looked enticing so I inquired about buying some from Polpetti. I love sfogiatelle so that was on my list. The owners let me taste a bunch of the sweets before buying. I forgot what everything was called, but I got a small box assortment for $5. I'll def have to come back for some NY bagels!

This is mostly for the Auntie Ning's portion of this 3-business brick-and-mortar. Highly disappointed. I've done the food truck twice before and both times was underwhelmed. Though I'd give it one last chance at their new location and am certain I will never be back. The breakfast bowl looks NOTHING like their marketing photos of it. I actually thought the pork was potatoes just looking at my dish (all fat). The eggs were hard as hell. Zero flavor. No green onion like in their photos. The pancit is purple. Pancit is not purple. Use green cabbage instead. The lumpia is okay, but definitely not anything to write home about. To top it off, the girl at the counter couldn't even give me a receipt because the machine was broken? She wrote down prices for me incorrectly three times. I had to tell her it was incorrect three times. She didn't even think to punch in the order again to get the full total on the machine (then void it). I had to tell her that's how to get the price I paid. Bless her heart. Nowhere to sit other than two stools in the window. Didn't and will not try the other market items.

    Turkey Pesto on Ciabatta

Their Turkey Pesto on Ciabatta with banana peppers is everything and more. That ciabatta was soooo good and the salty, sweet, tangy, herby flavors in that first bite should be shared with the world so go ahead and give it a try. Be mindful that there's usually only 1 person crafting up these beauties but it's worth the wait!

We were driving through and decided to stop in for a snack. We ordered a pastrami sandwich and pork adobo. Both were on point! The pork adobo was like my titas (aunties) would make. The pastrami sandwich is just as good as if you ordered it from a NY deli. I was a bit disappointed that there were no desserts I could see. If you're serving Filipino food, you should at least have leche flan or even some halo-halo would be great.

I love to cook "exotic" dishes, and I could find all of ingredients here. The aisles are labeled so things are easy to find. There's plenty of staff to help you as well. They even have a restaurant type place inside. We took a look at the menu, and it seemed like they offer lots. It smelled delicious! The fruit selection was so huge and was fresh. I browsed each aisle so I'd know what to get on my next visit. I can't wait to go back!

Back home in Houston, I know the only place to find good variety is at Asian supermarkets. So, I searched on Yelp. Here we are. I couldn't believe New Grand Mart has almost all mushroom varieties in the Asian markets: fresh Shiitake Mushrooms, Oyster Mushrooms, King Oyster Mushrooms (hardiest kind), White Beech Mushrooms, Brown Beech Mushrooms, Snow White Mushrooms aka Seafood Mushroom, Enoki (good for grilling), Wood Ear Mushrooms aka black fungus 黑木耳 (incredible meat texture), Baby Bella Mushrooms and Button Mushrooms. The only thing I didn't see was portobello Mushrooms. I immediately noticed the clientele was mixed ethnicity. Wow, the store was playing Spanish music and there were aisles of Hispanic products. So, I concluded that New Grand Mart is a truly an international supermarket. Definitely a good place to share my food culture knowledge by bringing people from other areas to come explore.

They arrived on time and managed the long line throughout the event. The employees were all friendly as well. All the food I tried was amazing. I like that they offer an all-in-one combo that allows you to try all of their main entrees (pinoy BBQ, chicken adobo, and vegan pansit). It also comes with a choice of lumpia and they have a lot of variations to choose from. I liked the paradise roll and dragon roll. I also tried the mango jubilee dessert and although it's simple, it was delicious. Everything was reasonably priced too. Highly recommend trying their food and booking them for events!
