    Cute country eatery

New owners... still great service and grub!! I noticed a new menu too and was intrigued by the "Route 6 Hubcap"!! So I took a gamble and scored!! It was a huge, fluffy flapjack with a savory sausage patty in the middle! It really did have that hubcap vibe! Clever menu... it pays to "play with your food"! I wouldn't "steer" you wrong! It was super good and our server Cole rocked it!! Can't wait to go back and find more creative breakfast items! It's difficult to make up new ways to serve the typical eggs, pancakes, waffles, grits, bacon and sausage... but they nailed it!

    Cute place!

Food was fantastic! Love the special PB&J french toast for me and my boo got the breakfast platter of corned beef hash with hone fries and toast. The jelly in the PB&J french toast was so tasty and confirmed with the host that it was indeed homemade. I definitely tasted the quality in it. Corned beef hash was flavorful. Everything was cooked expertly! Coffee was hot and came in big mugs. Loved the authentic ambiance. My waitress was a young woman who was efficient and friendly. Bathroom was small but clean. Loved to have found this local gem while traveling through the area.

Under new management. 1000% improvement! The atmosphere here is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is delicious! Christine made us feel instantly at home. This place is destined to be a serious Goochland treasure.

We booked a reservation and that seemed like a good idea, as it was quite full inside. We were seated in a corner booth in their dining room, directly across from the expansive wrap-around bar area. I noticed a cute little fireplace in the dining room too. All around, the vibe was perfect for a chill dinner. I ordered the Abita root beer ($5) to drink, which is always a good choice. One of my friends ordered a Sangria, which looked lovely, and she said it was good. I'd consider ordering that in the future. For food, I started with a small ceasar salad ($5). I loved the dressing on it so much, I wish I could've bottled it up! I would return JUST for that dressing. One of my friends ordered it for her meal and added salmon, and she also liked it. Another friend ordered the spinach salad and *loved* it. I ordered the blackened mahi with pimento grits and brussel sprouts for my entree ($30), the brussels subbed for the broccoli that originally came with the dish. Everything on the dish was delightful, and my leftovers warmed up well the next day too. We each ordered a different chocolate dessert, including the chocolate peanut butter pie, the chocolate pot de creme, and (myself) the brownie sundae. We all enjoyed them quite a bit. Prices were super reasonable, especially considering how much food we ordered. Everything was clearly high quality also. Can't wait to try more of their menu in the future!

Unfortunately, there was still not great service again. The server was professional and polite... but he wasn't present. Someone else brought our food out. He checked on us for the first time when we were almost done eating. I had to ask the hostess for the check. The food was just okay. If it had been amazing, that might have been worth waiting for, but it was forgettable. The menu is blah and standard. Nothing exciting. The flavors, meh. I got the arugula and proscuitto pizza last time. Someone at our table got that this time. It looked really dry. I ordered salmon because I thought you can't mess it up. It was just okay. The ambiance, it's like a typical mainstream place. Pretty cookie cutter. The parking lot is really tight. There really is nothing to recommend this place.

It was my first visit, and I was genuinely impressed with the ambiance, service, and overall quality of the meal. The menu offers a nice variety of food and cocktails. I ordered the espresso martini, which was smooth and well balanced, and my boyfriend had the Vieux Carré, which he really enjoyed. We started with the cast iron goat cheese, and it was rich, layered in flavor, and paired with bread that was delicious on it's own. For my entrée, I chose the margherita pizza, and it was one of the best I've had. The sauce was perfect, and the crust had an ideal texture and flavor. My boyfriend ordered the spicy sausage & black pepper honey pizza. While neither of us found it particularly spicy, it was still bold and very flavorful. Service was friendly and efficient throughout the evening. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I'm looking forward to returning.

When driving home nearby from a weekend in Bath Co., we stopped in for lunch. We called ahead to make sure they were open and they had a table all set up for my husband and I and our 19-month old daughter - with a cute plate, little baby spoon, and highchair ready for her. Our waitress was so nice and the sweet tea was delicious. This is Southern granny cooking just like my grandma made when I was a child. You can order single plates but the best deal is their family-style for $23 a person with black-eyed peas, green beans, stewed tomatoes, biscuits and corn bread, mashed potatoes and gravy and fried chicken with one other protein - we chose pot roast and it was soft and delicious. I wanted dessert - but it was so filling we had to skip although all their pies sounded wonderful. This is a historic old log cabin-type building with plenty of tables inside and they were super nice and low-key for us and our baby. Food was out almost instantly and everything was delicious. We were tucked in down near Devils Backbone Brewing Company, enjoying the kind of getaway folks put on postcards. My coffee, however, was less postcard and more field exercise--Army strong, boiled on a camp stove, poured out of a percolator that's likely seen more campaigns than I have. My wife took one sip and gave me that look... the one that says, "I love you, but this is unacceptable." So we broke camp early and pointed ourselves back toward civilization. About three miles down the road she spotted Belties. Now I've driven past that place more times than I can count, back when it looked like an old house that had just given up on things. But somebody got hold of it and turned that sow's ear into something you'd be proud to show company. We pulled in, and right off the bat--you could tell--they knew what they were doing. Service was quick, friendly, no fuss. The kind of place where nobody's trying too hard, which is usually when things turn out just right. The food? Lord have mercy. Every bit of it. And the atmosphere--well, it had character without trying to beat you over the head with it. That's a rare combination these days. Most places either feel like a museum or a storage unit. This one felt like the establishment wanted you to relax. And the coffee... now that was coffee. Not punishment in a cup. The kind you sit with for a minute and reconsider your life choices--like why you ever thought campfire tar water was a good idea. We'll be back. For the coffee, sure--but I've got a feeling we won't be leaving empty-handed next time. There'll be a goody bag involved. Maybe two. Some lessons you learn the hard way. Others come with a good cup of coffee and a smart woman who knows when to say, "Pull in right there

Being near Wintergreen Resort it draws a diverse crowd of tourists and locals, and the prices reflect that. The day we visited (Sunday at noon) there was a steady flow of guests. The line would get long but diminish quickly. The staff was super friendly and brought the food out quickly. The menu includes biscuit and pastry centered creations. The biscuits are huge and flaky. The pastry I tried was also delicious. The atmosphere they are going for is farm chic. The downside is it all comes off a little contrived. A pen with 4 Scottish Beltie cows and a small barn in the back by the parking, but a glance to the left you see not a rolling farm, but a standard ranch style house that must endure the constant traffic. The food is good, but not $13 chicken biscuit good. I ordered the Whoa Nelly ( biscuit with fried chicken, fried tomato, pimento cheese, and habanero jam). Thankfully I got the jam on the side bc it was a bit too spicy for me. I also fear that it would have been the only thing I would have tasted. The biscuit was good as was the chicken, but I could not taste the tomato or the pimento cheese at all. If I had added that jam it would have overwhelmed everything. The Chicken Pot Pie featuring a biscuit as the crust was a good choice. A crusty biscuit resting atop a rich creamy chicken and veg filling. It could have used a bit more savory seasoning, but overall a solid choice. The big question: would I return? Yes, but I am not going to go out of my way. It's decent food but overpriced for what it is.
