We waited 40 minutes for food. That is too long for her average to below average food. My husband's hot dogs came with a bunch of ingredients he did not ask for. They took it back we scraped off the ingredients and recooked the hot dogs which were now overdone. My barbecue sandwich came with hardly any meat. The meat did not even cover the bun. And no barbecue sauce was available. In the midst of all of this, a woman was mopping the floors and cleaning the bathrooms which I can appreciate. But the smell of cleaning solution was so strong you could taste it. The food has never been great here but satisfactory. Food was delicious. Service was fantastic. The waitress was the most polite waitress ive ever met. Everyones food was fresh and hot.

This place was exceptional! It is a charming restaurant with an excellent menu! Breakfast is served all day, which gets huge marks from me! I had a BLT and potato soup while my son had a cheeseburger. I do not even like tomatoes on my BLT but they were so fresh I did not pick them off.:) The soup was chock full of potatoes and tasted like something my grandma Annie would have made. I also got a huge piece of lemon cake with candied lemons (only $4). The atmosphere though was my favorite part of the restaurant. People were genuinely friendly to each other and the place just seemed to foster community. Regulars seemed to sit together at one table. We had great discussions with tables next to us about fishing and books. The service was good and the food was delivered quickly. We will be back even though it is a drive to get there! Sadly the restaurant continues to fail at the most basic level. A simple but overpriced breakfast of pancakes eggs and bacon left the large pancakes under cooked and overly doughy and almost invisible crispy bacon. Was so excited to eat here. What a disappointment. Breakfast took almost 75 minutes (eggs/toast, sausage gravy/biscuit). Told us half way through the wait the delay was because they ran out of gravy and had to make fresh. Eggs/toast came out 15 minutes before gravy. When gravy was finally served, it had little sausage and eggs were very undercooked. We understand they were busy and we were patient and kind, but this was disappointing. Stopped in on a whim for late breakfast. Good diner breakfast, although they were dealing with issues with the fryer. To their credit they had someone arrive while we were there to address the issue. Think breakfast would have been better given the home fries but still good. Our group ordered several things from the menu including the pancake, bowl, omelette and sausage/gravy. Food was fantastic! Love the special PB&J french toast for me and my boo got the breakfast platter of corned beef hash with hone fries and toast. The jelly in the PB&J french toast was so tasty and confirmed with the host that it was indeed homemade. I definitely tasted the quality in it. Corned beef hash was flavorful. Everything was cooked expertly! Coffee was hot and came in big mugs. Loved the authentic ambiance. My waitress was a young woman who was efficient and friendly. Bathroom was small but clean. Server was just not with it (very young). We have our breakfast order and she came back 3 times to ask about our order........Waited 48 min from time of order placed until we received our food. Our order was right off the menu- not complicated. Needed to ask for utensils and coffee refill. Needless to say, I got up for utensils and coffee never came! Then, she charged us for two coffees and a milk ( I asked for milk for my coffee as I did not want to use fake creamers left on the table). Great traditional eatery. This place has a beautiful dining room: think big booths and Americana wall art. The tables, windows, bar mirror are all spotless and polished to a shine. For lunch, I can totally recommend what I had: a bowl of chili with a grilled cheese, blueberry cobbler, vanilla ice cream, coffee. I was here from 11am till about 2, so met a few folks who came in to eat and chat. One gentleman must have been having a great day, because he secretly paid for my meal and another guy's too -- thank you if you ever read this! Bacon was nice and smoky. Firm but not overly crisp. The grits were a good-sized portion totally flavorless and probably instant. The biscuit was pre-split and buttered and looked like it may have been griddled. That was a mistake. Killed the fluffiness and lightness one expects from a biscuit from a fresh biscuit. This by far is a restaurant that you really need to check out. I truly believe that you get the best food and service at the local/small town diners/restaurants! This place definitely does not disappoint! The caring and friendly atmosphere was evident from the time we walked in until we left. The food was excellent and service was prompt(and with a smile too). We had a family member in a wheelchair and when they heard that they brought out a ramp that one of their customers had made to make the transition into the restaurant much easier. Again, the little things like that make the difference between a good restaurant and a Great one. If we didn't live in Indiana we would be here quite often! For the past few years, I have been meaning to try this restaurant. I never had the time until this morning. I was looking forward to breakfast here. The restaurant is a small place with local character. I ordered the combo plate of medium cooked eggs, bacon, and a biscuit, along with coffee for 7.95. The coffee was good and there was ample half and half on the table. The food came out quick. It looked bad on the plate. The eggs were overcooked on the outside and too runny on the inside. The biscuit had burnt spots on top and tasted like margarine. The bacon was awful. It looked bad. I tasted it and spit it out. It tasted old. It was inedible. I sent the bacon and eggs back. I got the scrambled eggs and ham. Both were edible though they both could have been so much better. I was really disappointed in the quality of cooking here and the high price I paid for the meal. I waited for a coffee refill and the waitress did not notice. I finally brought my cup up to the counter. First meal that I sent back: 1 star, replacement meal: 2 star. Service 2 Stars. Ambiance: 3 star. I am wondering about most of the other reviews here on Yelp except one obvious legit one. By far the worst food we've ever had in a restaurant. Walked in and all of the empty tables were dirty. Ordered the tuna salad on rye toast and basically got a mayo sandwich on warm bread. My wife just ordered toast because they're not allowed to serve eggs during lunch...was told that the grill is too small to do that and comply with Board of Health requirements. We walked in and there were 3 employees (no masks on)standing at the counter with no customers in the restaurant. After not being greeted we were finally told to sit anywhere. The waitress was pleasant but overall the experience was not a good one. I feel the man that was working there I assume the cook did not seem to have a very good attitude. I did observe him say something to one of the other employees when I stated we were ready to order. I overall would not recommend this place and felt we were not welcomed due to the fact we had on masks. There was a political sign in the restaurant stating they were not politically correct and if that offended LEAVE. This is just the reason we have issues of hate and rhetoric in our country. Leaving Richmond, VA for the mountains of TN, I was a little excited about visiting this place for breakfast on the way out and wasn't impressed. Service wasn't friendly and not the typical, 'hey I'm not here to smile at your ass' attitude but instead a real indifference as if we were truly annoying them with our visit.
