The service was good nothing special unfortunately, i've been here twice and both times i've been underwhelmed with the food and appetizers. Most recent time I got the pesto chicken pasta with garlic bread on the side, the chicken was flavored poorly, dry, just all around not good at all. The pasta was under-seasoned and bland, same with the bread. The ambiance was nice I loved the lighting, and again server was attentive. I just was again disappointed and would not come here again, or at least order anything I have before, although I always enjoy trying something new. read more

Time to update this one. Melito's continues to be a go-to neighborhood haunt. They are true to their identity for approachable comfort food. The chili dogs remain a staple, but I also can't say enough about their meatloaf sandwich which comes with a side of spicy red sauce to apply as you will. Fires are hot and well cooked and well seasoned. The soups are generally good -- look at the specials board. Salads are generous (I love whatever Caesar dressing they are using) and desserts remain delightful. Service is always attentive. Three televisions tuned to sports, silent but easily seen. Will continue to be a regular here. read more

Having lived in RVA for 11 years now, I'm surprised that we've never stumbled upon this place before. This place is great! It's a total local joint...homey, great food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The sandwiches were big and had tons of meat on them and the kid's mac & cheese was homemade, not the usual boxed stuff. Their soup of the day was cream of crab, which was great but could have used a little more Old Bay. That's high praise coming from this Maryland native. They even have a few tables outside where you can enjoy your meal on the shaded patio when the weather is nice. Melito's will definitely be a new addition to our rotation and we look forward to our next visit. read more

3 stars for the food, but the incredible dessert bumps it up to 4! I came here on a whim for a mommy/son date with my 3 year old. He said he wanted hot dogs and so we jetted over to Melito's after school. They're known for their famous hot dogs, so of course we had to order them! My son likes them plain, no mustard or ketchup and I like mine with both. We also got fries and I added a side salad. I was surprised by how big and fresh the side salad was. I always love when any restaurant takes side salads seriously and doesn't skimp out. The ranch was fantastic too. Unfortunately, after the side salad high, things fell flat for me when the hot dogs came. I don't think these are grilled, and that's normally how I like my dogs. The fries were pretty run of the mill also. I was feeling fancy this day so we sprung for their cheesecake brownie which comes with Gelati Celesti ice cream (my fave!). And it was worth the sugar rush and calories. This dessert was sooo amazing. I would go back just for that! We gobbled it up. It was a very busy night. Seated quickly. Greeted promptly by our waitress, Sally. She took our order within a couple minutes. We waited for a bit but the other servers looked to see if needed anything before our food was, while Sally was taking hot food out to her other tables. My steak was good perfectly, medium rare. My partner got the BBQ ribs. The meat was falling off the bone, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a dry rub with had a balanced taste and delicious pop! Absolutely without a doubt the best service I've had dining out. And that was during a decent lunch rush. The meal was fresh and fast. Drinks were never allowed to go less than half full, and dishes and trash were cleared as soon as we finished with a plate. Had lunch here with Husband last week and we enjoyed what we ordered. I really wanted to have some dessert but I think I will save that after I delivery my baby in March. I had the classic burger and it did not disappoint the sweet potatoes fries were a great side! Husband had the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with a side of broccoli and cheese for dipping. I was not impressed with the cheese, too clumpy, if it could be smoother and more creamier that would be amazing!!! Also a great dip for fries! We also order wings as apps and they were delicious! This is the kind of neighborhood hub that you can frequent weekly. It's cozy, friendly and upbeat. There's a nice bar area as well as tables and booths. The tiny tables on the bar side are pretty cramped, good luck if you get seated there. The menu is great! Lots of American fare... the clubs are amazing, and you can't go wrong with the burgers or hot dogs. One of my favorite menu items are the pretzels. And the spinach salad is superb. I've never had bad service here. The staff is well trained and friendly. If you have dietary restrictions, the kitchen is very accommodating as well. My wife and I stopped in on a whim on a rainy Saturday. I lived my entire life up to 18 years of age in Richmond and had never eaten here. It was an interesting place that reminded me of how places would have been years ago. Several places to set at a bar to order and eat and several two seat booths- which is where we sat. We werent overly hungry so we split a cheese steak sandwich. It was quite good. I liked the old style atmosphere and the food was good. Our waitress was very nice and did a good job. THe place was very crowded.. i was honestly surprised how crowded it was. If we end up in that part of town again, i would not hesitate eating lunch there again! read more

The menu had several menu items that sounded good that i'd go back to try. The baked spaghetti was ok, i asked for meatballs to be added. I would have liked more sauce on it. Garlic bread was good. This is a fun place that I hadn't been to in years. I'd like to give this a higher rating but my food came out cold. I mean all of it - chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables. Same with my husband's dish. Our waitress was very sweet but in the weeds and never asked how our food was once delivered to our table. I think they would benefit by having an owner or manager check on patrons on busy nights. I decided I was better off taking my food to go and reheating in the microwave. We aren't from this area. We drove over a hour and a half to shop in the area and found nothing that interested us. So before we drove home we looked for a local mom and pop place for dinner. This wasn't exactly a mom and pop place (it was a bar) but it was different and good. They had a bunch of stuff to chose from and the food tasted good. My husband ordered one of their world famous hot dog (ketchup, mustard, relish) and we both liked the taste. He also got a club sandwich. I ordered a plate of spaghetti and garlic bread. Describing the food? We got A LOT! Amount and cost totally even out. Food tasted good. About the service? It looked like only three girls working the room but DAMN did they do a good job. Reason for 4 stars? We were full when we left and while on the drive home I we both ended up (at different times) saying "Find a bathroom NOW!!!". Our old standby for 15 years, Melitos, was a total disaster this evening. Arrived at 5:20 pm. Ordered dinner at 5:40 pm. Dinner finally arrived at our table more than one hour later. Ordered brussels sprouts as a side. Got five skinny and limp asparagus. Dinner special advertised wild rice with the entree. Got white rice. Asked for a replacement. Server took my plate away and returned with nothing changed other than now my meal was cold. Husband's chicken entree was maybe five bites worth. Server was unable to open our bottle of wine. We showed her how to do it. Restaurant was freezing. Music was so loud it was near impossible to have a conversation since everyone was trying to be heard by their tablemates. Will we ever return? Very doubtful and it's a pity since we live in the neighborhood and have visited at least 50 times prior to tonight. read more

What happened to this place ?? Got 2 dogs and fries off door dash , order one Chicago style and one chili cheese hotdog . Fries were a bunch of end fries that were soggy and stale at the same time . Absolutely awful. The first dog I ate was the chili dog and the cheese on top tasted like a type of soap........and as for the chili it's literally just ground beef . No sauce no beans no nothing . Then the Chicago style dog, which I ordered by topping came out to an extra 5$! And they only put Sauerkraut which was dry and awful . I paid for onions , relish , tomatoes , peppers and pickle . How do I get one topping which one topping is free on Togo ? Place used to be amazing. Paid 26$ for 2dogs fries and a drink delivered 6 min. 3.5$ for a small fountain soda (flat), 12$ for 2 horrible dogs with a topping on each 4.5$ for extra toppings .
