Late breakfast on a Sunday morning featured prompt, courteous service. Veg omelette with whole wheat toast and a side of red potatoes was a very adequate amount of food. We were driving thru the area and found this restaurant on Yelp. We would have driven right past if we weren't looking for it. Glad we stopped in!! We both had burgers and they were one of the best we ever had. The meat was obviously fresh ground and cooked perfectly. Service was great and staff were very friendly. I loved Frisbeys until something changed: everything I ordered was overcooked and burned. I would have thought this was a "one off", but it wasn't. First my omelet was over cooked, then my fried bologna sandwich was burned black, then my cheeseburger was well done to burned, then finally my last fried bologna sandwich was burned black. Every time I mentioned it to the staff it was "new cook" or "grill must be too hot today". Sadly, I think four occurrences is not incidental but a trend. read more

Without a doubt, the absolute best place to eat in Powhatan. I usually go there for breakfast twice a week and I have NEVER been disappointed with the service, food, or the price. When I go there for breakfast, My waitress knows I like unsweetened Ice Tea and she brings it to my table along with a separate to go Ice Tea in a large cup with a straw even before I order. I then order my breakfast and within a few minutes here she comes with it and it is perfectly cooked, my eggs are over easy my biscuit and gravy are fresh and just like I like it and she makes sure there is butter, jelly and sweetener on the table before she even brings my meal, If I decide to order a steak it usually covers the plate and or blueberry pancakes with real large blueberries which cover the entire plate as well and plenty of butter and syrup also. I have eaten lunch and dinner there several times and wholly recommend the fresh food and salads that is always made to order. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys getting what you pay for at a reasonable price. Gene P. read more

We have been to Frisbys several times. The restaurant is located inside the BP gas station. There are two parts of this restaurant. The front side is the family friendly area and the Bar / smoking restaurant "Side Door" is accessed by going outside and walking to the rear of the restaurant. Both parts are dated and kinda run down looking.. The tables at front have a clamy/ tacky film on them from the polyurethane they used. The restaurant looks like it hasnt been remodeled since it was built in 60's. Other than the way it looks the food has been consistently good. They don't experiment with new flavors or dishes. Its just plain country cooking..They announce their specials on a white board at front and rear. They usually have lunch or breakfast specials for $5 dollars And they have always been excellent. The breakfast is delicious and usually served quickly after ordering. The service has been wonderful. The staff is always smiling and helpful. I highly recommend going for breakfast or lunch if you are look for great food and dont mind the divey atmosphere. The Side Door: The ceilings in the rear are low and either painted yellow or stained from the cigarette smoke.. The rear area is definitly Powhatan's premier dive bar. On any given weekday morning you can find patrons drinking their morning fill. The bar has local bands on weekend and usually get a good turn out. Prices are very reasonable and the drinks are usually strong. read more

I am giving this place a 3 because 85-90% of the time we get good food and good service. As others have noted best service and best time to go seems to be breakfast. Today, I would have a hard time rating this place at 1 star. My wife and I came in at lunch time. Three waitresses were at the counter chatting with each other. One of them usually does well by us. We seated ourselves. We kept looking over at them, and they could see us sitting there. Another group of people came in and sat down. They were immediately greeted and their order taken. I would rather eat at this local dive than downtown Richmond (we brunch every Sunday) and I brought my sister the last time. She's a well known food snob, and cleared her plate in moments! Good food for good price. Simple as that. Traditional southern little restaurant. Friendly staff. Always feels like family as soon as you walk threw the front door. However, the decor is way out of date, and its not the cleanest place. Ex: dirty tables, floors tend to be dirty with food usually on them, bench cushions ripped and very worn, but other than that not a bad little place to grab a bite to eat.. I've been here several times and haven't ever been all that impressed. But this time was the last time I'll ever step foot in that garbage place again. The food was awful and while we waited a ridiculous amount of time to receive it, we could clearly here our waitress coughing like she was about to cough up a lung in the kitchen and spitting every few minutes too. I understand that people can get sick and still have to come to work etc. but if you're that sick you do not need to be at work in a restaraunt and even if you're forced to come in for whatever reason, you can go in the bathroom if you're having a coughing fit but not around people's food....not only that, our waitress rolled her eyes at me when I paid for our food with several $1 bills because that's all I had. Then proceeded to count the money in front of me and act irritated that she wasn't tipped and told us to have a good one without looking up once. This place is disgusting and unless you want to get sick from the food or the staff, I suggest not going anywhere near it. read more

I like to give things a second chance. And that's exactly what I did at Frisby's even after the first experience where we have absolutely terrible service from our waitress who forgot about us and we had to chase her down. The second time was even more horrendous. Our waitress hardly greeted us or checked on us and brought me cold coffee and old microwaved pecan pie. I had the cheeseburger with fries and the burger was overcooked and flavorless to the point where it dried out my mouth. The fries had to be salted in order to be edible. The coffee cup had residue on the rims and the coffee had some sort of soapy layer on the top (probably from the dirty cup). And after being disappointed by the pecan pie, which we were looking forward to for dessert, we commented to our waitress that we were disappointed with it. The piece had only two bites taken out of it and she still charged us for it. Not only was our waitress impersonal, but we were also unimpressed with her dirty clothes and messy unkempt hair. Not sanitary. Very disappointed. Will never return. read more

Just received the worse service from one of the waitresses tonight. When we asked for condiments to go with our meal she walked off saying "how many trips do I need to make". When I asked her if she had a problem waiting on us. She said why do u ask. I pointed out she had made a comment as she walked away. She then said well I do think this is my 7th trip to the table. Mind u it was only her 3rd or 4th. That was mainly because it took 2 trips to bring all the food and she orignally only bought 1 cocktail sause for 2 shrimp meals. When I asked to speak to the manager she claimed she was it. If she is the manager no wonder the place is going to hell. The food was cold. She never came back to check on us offer any drink refills. The only time u can get good service is during breakfast hours. This lady that waited on us tonight should be fired immediately for talking to any customer the way she talked to me and my family tonight. We eat here at least 2 times a week and I have never received such rude service as I received tonight. I'm pretty sure we will not be returning and I highly reccomened everyone else to stay out as well!!! read more

It is a great place to eat in a family atmoshere in the front restaurant with no smoking. Best home cooked breakfasts & lunch specials with a beverage for $5.00! What a deal! Healthy food for affordable prices & quick some of the times! They open a bar in the back of restaurant & called it The Side Door for those who like to smoke while having their meals & drinks at a good affordable price without breaking their bank! They have entertainment daily and open 7 days a week! "home away from home" feeling! The regulars are great to hang out with! read more
