Our server was immediately attentive and knew menu variations that weren't listed on the menu: Mom ordered a mimosa and she offered the different juice options. We both went with strawberry kiwi mimosas. They weren't bad, but they weren't good (much less great). Great server and have missed the diner that used to be on our side of town. My husband's burger was great! No complaints. I decided to try a the pork schnitzel special. Definitely not anything like schnitzel I had in Europe even though I don't expect it. It was spongy and didn't taste like meat. The gravy tasted like jarred with a bunch of caraway seeds which was not good. The potatoes were instant. I'm not a picky person, and rarely leave a bad review, but that was not a good meal. Hadn't been over to this side of town in awhile but was invited to RCD for lunch. The dishes were attractive and delicious and the service was top notch. We placed a to-go order before hitting the highway and thought some diner food sounded quick and simple. They were really fast with completing the order, I will give them that. But our order was just shy of $53 for a BLT with fries, a veggies scramble, side of 4 chicken tenders, a sweet tea and small coffee. After getting on the road, we discovered the toast for the BLT was burnt beyond being edible and the fries were soft and soggy. Unfortunately the sweet tea was unsweetened also, which is like poison for a southerner. I understand mistakes happen, but when you're charged $3.99 for a sweet tea, at least it should be what you paid for. This was just a very underwhelming experience for such a high ticket price. Absolute Trash. The worst gravy I have ever had & it barely has any sausage in it. The eggs have zero salt or pepper, actually nothing has any seasonings. The potatoes were literally plain potatoes. The bacon was alright and so were the sausage Pattie's, but can anyone mess that up? I did like the French toast, but it was nothing special. The only thing I reallly liked was the biscuits-plain. Disappointed bc I used to come here and thought it was good, but I was in town visiting and tried it and idk just not at all impressed. if you are hoping for a Rochester garbage plate, do not waste your time and money. What they call a "Rochester garbage plate" is a cheddar cheese topped, baked casserole monstrosity. Absolutely nothing like an authentic garbage plate. A favorite for sure - weekly! I think I've tried everything on that menu by now, thrice over! It's a great spot for whatever time you want - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They serve breakfast all day so you can now have that cuisine whenever you'd like! Their coffee is good, their service is stellar, and their food is usually pretty on point. I have a soft sport for their soups, especially the Christmas soup - you have GOT to try it before they run out. Orrrrr maybe I should tell you it's awful so there's more for me. It can get loud in there if there are a lot of families with smaller children so be prepared - it's not a refined restaurant that is strict about their volume. The only thing I would recommend is to close the doors and do a deep cleaning and repair for a couple of days. It's so busy there that I'm sure it's the last thing on the owner's mind but I think we regulars would definitely notice and appreciate it! read more

In addition to all the typical actions, they've erected partitions between all booths, so not only is it cozier than ever, it's prevention against the rampant terror of unrestrained cooties. As a rule, in any fast-casual food joint I can find something to quibble about. RCD is the exception; I've never had anything less than 5-star service, and a 5-star meal. There are TVs mounted if you want to catch up on news, a game or a show. My friend and I met there for "frunch" (friends lunch) and were seated at a roomy booth. I like big booths and I cannot lie! We were served by a peppy, pleasant young lady who was attentive and efficient! I chose the big breakfast, the pancakes were fluffy and light! I had an opportunity to take my wife and granddaughter, Ariya, to this place yesterday. We had a great time. Our server, Trish G., was highly professional, friendly, and humorous. Her interactions with my three-year-old granddaughter were incredible. My wife ordered the Western Omelette, w/Onion Rings, and bacon. Ariya wanted Chicken tenders and fries, and I ordered the Bacon Pancakes. All of the food was fresh, well presented, and tasted great. One of the things that I love about River City is the portions. It's hard to consume all of the food, so a to-go box is always a staple, and yesterday was no different. As always, the food and service was great. These were some of the best and most fluffiest pancakes I've ever had. The eggs were also cooked perfectly. I was a bit disappointed with the hash browns as they were on the mushy side and I do like them to be crispy. The two best things about our meal (besides the food being delicious of course) were 1. River City Diner is a busy diner! There is often a bit of a wait so don't be in a rush. We have been a few times - trying lunch and breakfast items. The burgers are ground fresh and tasted so good. They have amazingly delicious breakfast items. The diner has a great vibe and is clean. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the key lime pie. The crust tasted a little like it had spent too much time in the freezer/cooler. The fries were tasty. The inlets and waffles are great. NOT putting slices of cheese between hot toast. I sent this back and you had the audacity to what? Just microwave it or put it in some toaster oven? Yeah, you took it off the bill but come on guys.
